Billys Lounge

This is a fun place with a different theme every night. All they have is popcorn so dont come hungry... But the popcorn is free. There is a $10 cover charge. The service at the bar can be pretty slow but it is a very busy place.

A staple of East Town. Billys was here before Michigan was a state. (Jk) (no really). The old days was Billys, Mulligan and the Intersection. Hasnt changed much. Friendly staff. Love music. All you could ask for. Can get super packed, so if thats not yoir scene dont go after 8/9. But during the day its pretty open and relaxing.

Descent bar. Good for different nights. Just depends what youre into. Suggest seeing whats going on there certain nights of the week to see if its something youre interested in.

First time I had been there. Walked im during the comedy show and then karaoke! Even got up on stage with my friends...it was a blast! Met some very nice people and the staff was more than friendly and helpful.

Hip place. I attended their salsa dancing lessons. It was pretty cool. They have enough people who know what theyre doing to make you feel comfortable. No food but you can order in. Reasonably priced drinks. Its a good time and a great place to meet new people.

Another Eastown gem. We finished our event for the concierges of Grand Rapids at Billys and enjoyed it thoroughly. For some of us, it was our first time and was pleasantly surprised. I like the happy hour prices.

Ladies be very careful here. People have a history of being SAd here and roofied

Had a great time there. On Sunday afternoons they have several different Blues Bands that all get a chance to play while people dance on dance floor and they also have Pool Playing tournaments. Great atmosphere. Fun way to spend Sunday afternoons.

I didnt eat here, idk if they offer food to be honest. However I love Billys, my family and I have been coming for years. Its one of those places you dont expect and end up making good conversation regardless of the age group, its just a place to have fun . Ive never been over served or roofied here and the staff is just great laid back and welcoming while still maintaining the atmosphere.

Had an amazing time my first here during Art Prize. It was Saturday latin night. Great music, drinks and security. They have a calender on Facebook of there monthly events. A definite good time

It is a very chill place for happy hour times. Bartenders are fabulous. Usually playing great music on the jukebox. 2 pool tables & fresh popcorn. Bonus

Love the dance nights on Wednesdays and Fridays! Have been to a few of their events and it is always a good time!!

Enjoyed Fuego Friday at Billys. Not as much organized Latin dancing as I hoped (lots of house, pop, r&b, etc woven in) but overall great music. Entry fee was $20 at the door, but said $15 online. Bartenders were kind and efficient. A fun night.

This is a great venue, the bar is beautiful, staff is very friendly, drinks are cheap and good. I was there for a show and running the merch table and had a creeper who would not leave me alone. The bouncers made me feel very safe and even chased the guy down the street to the next bar to warn them not to let him in. I will be back and highly recommend this place.

Love the vibe... great little place/dive bar...they were open on the 4th.. Im not big into fireworks as I have ptsd so moving here and finding a place open was awesome... they even had hot dogs and chips and popcorn and cookies for free!!!!

Is very very good the food the drinks the music and the place too like it very much all Wednesdays night Latin night good to dance.

Great place to listen to live music or just relax and catch up with friends. Nothing fancy. Thats what makes it so comfortable.

The act we saw (Brad Williams) was absolutely awesome! The venue, on the other hand, was less than stellar. The show was supposed to start at 7 and they didnt even start letting people in until about 6:50. The seats were so packed together we were basically on top of each other and could hardly even get up to go to the bathroom or get drinks. I will say they did have really good beer prices, so they gained a couple stars for that!

The best place to see & support the Blues Music Foundation. The BBQ Pork and Fixens are awesome too. An older crowd of people who really know how to have a Great Time. Thank you Billys Lounge ❣️🤗😘

Great place to cut a rug! They have all different types of music each night of the week. Pool table in back but not sure the shape. Bathrooms are in the basement.

My husband and me just discover this place, we just move to NE and definitely we are going back often.

I always like this spot but they need to do some better cleaning and get a little revamp in their atmosphere. Feels a little grungy lately and the floors are always sticky. Other than that we always have great service and the drinks are affordable. Cover charge is affordable for the music they put on and the extra security. Better lighting would go a long way in this place. Ill always go here of course, its a staple of Grand Rapids!

I really like Billys Lounge! They make really good cocktails, and I love that they have free pool on certain days! Its a great atmosphere and I have made some new friends and connections now that I live in Grand Rapids Michigan and have found that I will probably be a patron more often because of the fact that it is so friendly and the menu looks really good also! I like that they have live music too!

Great atmosphere. Got there when the doWors opened and got a booth near the stage. Caroline was our wait staff and she was perfect--checking in just frequently enough to get something when you needed it. The band tonight was excellent--Hip Pocket. Great set list of Earth Wind and Fire, Stevie Wonder, Chicago, and more. This was my first time here and I will be back.

I only visit when Blues bands are playing but that is often, mostly weekends. Billys has a large variety of different bands that perform there so their calendar of artists is always changing.The staff is excellent. The doorman is polite and accommodating. The wait staff works hard, taking orders, delivering drinks and keeping the place clean.

Good service, friendly bartender, and friendly customers, but the DJ on Tuesday nights plays music like hes intentionally trying to keep the dance floor empty. Everything he played had a tempo that was slightly too slow to comfortably dance to, and when he would manage to play something that would get people on the dance floor, he would follow it up with something extremely slow and promptly empty the dance floor. Whenever you have a full bar, a DJ, and an empty dance floor, theres a problem. I know Tuesdays are supposed to be 2K Tuesdays, but there was a ton of really good dancing and hip hop music in the early 2ks.

We have gone on Tuesdays for poptuek twice now. The parking is easy, the bouncers are nice, the bartenders are seriously the best and probably the only reason we went back. Very nice guys, attentive, and cheap drinks. The DJ? Awful. Rude. Hard to follow the music. Even with $10, it takes an hour to play a song request. Theres not more than 10 people in the bar. This is ridiculous and obnoxious.

Great place, just remember to call ahead to see when that evenings band will be starting... My guy and I arrived at 9pm, and the band we wanted to see had already left. 🤔 I will call ahead next time.

I went for salsa night on Wednesday and it was less salsa and more club style. Definitely not what I was expecting and the music was so loud that when I left my ears were ringing! I am not impressed and Definitely wont be back. It is good for people who like more grinding and twerking. The DJ played salsa music but more club style. Salsa nights should be more salsa less rave. The lights made me very dizzy, there were at least 3 or for diffrent styled lights flashing and moving about. It was just over all Chaotic and more party style!

Good music played loudly. Good beer at very reasonable prices. Bathroom that is dangerous to get to after a few drinks. Nice open area in front of the band to get close and personal to the band and/or dance, but still plenty of seating throughout.

Popular little joint in east town. It has a medium sized dance floor. Latin dancing is great on Wednesday nights. Bouncers and bar staff are respectful and friendly. On popular dance nights get there early as it is common to see a line at the door.

Great atmosphere. No Drama,the DJ is the goat and the music is always poppin!

It wasnt a bad place I went very late at night because a friend of my mothers is in a band. So we went there listen to them play (blues). They did an awesome job. I do not remember the name of the band but they had the bar crowed and people dancing. I enjoyed being there for the live entertainment.

My favorite spot to go dancing on Mondays for Bassbin, amazing DJs from around the world. A real gem, they also have different types of music on different nights. Diverse and friendly, affordable drinks and nice pool tables!!!

This is a great place full of great people. There are different events all the time for everyone all ages and genres. And they adopt their regulars as part of their family. Best Bar/Club/Lounge in Grand Rapids Michigan by far!

Love Monday nights there! Wait staff is super friendly. Bar staff was fast and efficient. Good music. Only thing that would make or better would be fried foods on the menu. Other than that very clean and great place to get out and live a little at.

EDM night was actually jazz. BassBin had no bass. Nice price on drinks though

It always feels like a party at Billys. Good prices, good music, good people. Theres no food, so just know that ahead of time. Yesterdog is right next door so you can get some food there easily. Highly recommend this bar, in my top 3 for Grand Rapids bars.

It was warm and friendly! The bar Manager Sarah has got to be the BEST in the business! Shes warm ,friendly and VERY accommodating in every way possible! Great hometown feel!

They definitely have some fun nights, but the place can get really sketchy too. Lots of fights and the odd stabbing requiring security pat downs before entering on some nights. That has made things a little better, but the management has also had a long standing problem with overlooking things placed into peoples drinks. I’ve had a few females friends that have had it happen to them at Billy’s over the years.

Drink prices are usually pretty good. Place always seems dirty though, and as far as a music venue, the quality in sound is usually sub par for the amount of hype. Not bad if you dont have anything else to do, but wouldnt make it your usual watering hole.

I enjoyed the drink specials. Unfortunately, the live music is SO LOUD. In other words as long as you are there for the music its great. If you want to talk to anyone youll have to be on top of them and screaming at them! Not to mention an instant headache.

Had a fun night. Standing outside in the cold for an hour to get in was a bummer. Others who came later had it worse. Some people bought tickets online and couldnt get in. Too many security people for size of venue. Makes you feel under surveillance. Wish GR had more R & B Clubs.

Great music, a bit on the small side if youre hoping to host a party. They might want to pull all the tables out the center of the floor and just rock with booths and wall counters. It wouldnt seem so congested in the club when its getting full. The female bartenders were a bit crabby but the drinks were well made.

Billys Lounge was interesting. Drinks were great and the headliner April Macie was hilarious but the MC and the feature were not that funny. :( Hopefully the starting acts get better.

We had a fantastic time listening to Hip Pocket, a killer band of about 10 members. The service was prompt. Dancing is popular here. Not sure where the ADA restroom was, but the main one is downstairs. This is a cool place.

Billys has cool music and events. They often charge cover on even quiet nights however - it may be divey, but this is still often the case. The bouncers can be a bit overzealous as well - they cut off my girlfriend and were planning to ask her to leave once when she was one drink in and sitting quietly at her table looking at her phone. They were nice about it - just totally off-base. Worth going for events where you like the music or for regular evenings without cover.

Usually a really good time here!Last time I went the door guy let my two friends in for $5 total and when I walked up behind them he tried to charge me $10 to get in. For no reason at all. He was very rude to me and wouldn’t take less than $10. The two bouncers standing by wouldn’t do anything to help me or explain to me why I had to pay 4x as much as my friends to get in. I hadn’t been drinking. I was being polite and asking why I had to pay more than them and he told me if I wasn’t “mouthing off” maybe he would have given me a deal to get in like he did to my friends. I didn’t have $10 cash on me (as they advertised that it was only $5 to get in) so I left. Door guy was obviously on some sort of ego trip. 🙄 I don’t blame Billy’s for this but they definitely need to have higher standards for who is working. I’ve never been treated like that anywhere.

Came here for Foolhouses 90s Dance Party Show. Great place with great prices! A bit cozy bit not cramped. Bathrooms are located down a staircase, though; I am not sure if they have an elevator or handicap accessible restroom - call them to check.

Fun place to go if you enjoy dancing and people watching. Pool room in the back, booth seating, sometimes live music. Cover at the door is always reasonable and drink prices are so cheap on weekdays.

Perfect size for an intimate music venue but with plenty of space to sit, dance, be at the bar, or play pool. Diverse crowd in many ways, everybody there to have a good time. Great happy hour deals.

Not sure what this place thinks it is, a cover charge on a Thursday night AYFKM? Covers went out in the early 90s and you rarely even see them in the big cities today.Other than that, its a decent enough music venue and reasonably priced drinks.

Billys is the spot! Every night they play different kinds of music. On days you would think every bar would be dead, Billys is jumping! Great music, none of that electronic remix B.S. decent priced drinks. There is usually a $5 cover.

The service was awesome and the bartenders are really nice. My drinks were perfectly mixed and the shots I ordered were good. Maybe it was just a bad night, or maybe its suppose to be a dive bar, but the music was not great (bad EDM/house music) and it was kind of dirty. So once I figure out what their identity is I may have to bump it up to at least a 4 star.

Billys Lounge has always had a special place in my heart. Nobody fills a place up for 80s night like Billys does. Nobody fills a place up on a Sunday night like Billiys does, and nobodies dance floor lights up like Billys does. While its become overcrowded (albeit with an ever changing dynamic) its still a great place to visit once in a while. While I love the madness and cacophony of Rockys or other wilder establishments-- I always come back to Billys for cheap beer and enough room to actually move my feet.

No food, but great service! They should definitely consider a small bar menu some day.

My roommates phone got stolen there. When we reported it to the staff, they recognized the description and apparently he comes there all the time and steals phones. Why they allow a frequent phone thief in I dont understand, but avoid this place if youre looking for a safe environment to let loose and have a good evening.

It was snowing so much inside that I wasnt comfortable. The floor felt like I was walking in gum with every step I took. The bartenders attitude let me know I wasnt welcome. The band was okay. The dance floor was the size of my bathroom.

Enjoyed seeing Star Farm. Service was good. But the dance floor was so sticky that my shoes were sticking to it. The no glass or drinks on the dance floor rule is obviously not followed.

Not a very clean environment. Extremely packed. Dance floor is very small. A lot of male on female harassment everywhere. Often more men than women inside. Music is decent.

The atmosphere was fine and all, but mostly a big SHOUT OUT to our server Sabrina, I left my credit card on the table and she noticed it, and ran out after us!!! Im glad that I had given her a generous tip cuz she definitely deserved one!

Sex trivia for planned Parenthood is a fantastic time and doesnt happen often enough. Otherwise the bar hass great prices and a friendly atmosphere and is near alot of places that serve food. And even though they dont serve food (besides popcorn) they let you bring in your own.

If the place had an ADA accessible bathroom they could get more stars. But asking a person in a wheelchair to go to the building next door to use the bathroom isnt okay. It is 2019 and they can do better. Discrimination of any kind is wrong.

Cover your drinks or just don’t drink here! 4 friends including myself were all roofied. ER told us it was the same drug in all of our systems! Won’t be back!

Fun place to dance to live regional bands. All ages above 21 show up, but crowd skews toward boomers. Cheap drinks. Check their website to see who is playing.

Have had absolutely terrible experiences with this bar. Waited for over an hour in line to gain access in the cold without a coat (because in the past have had coats stolen from this bar) only to have car full after car full of people cut the line and gain access ahead of me without stamps. The absolute worst place to visit in all of Grand Rapids. Avoid this place like the plague. They mop the floor once a month, worst service, its a mystery as to why theyre still in business. If I could give them zero stars, I would be glad to (they dont even deserve the one star review).

An Easttown classic. Has some really decent jazz bands from time to time and the drink prices are on point. A little dingy and low-lit but that just adds to the atmosphere I think. Friendly wait staff as well.

This is the best local bar, great bartenders with a great atmosphere. Their happy hour is fun. They also have bands ever weekend, I have enjoyed the bands that I have seen.

Went there on a Friday night. Place is outdated. No music was playing. Most of the lights were off. We thought they were closing down. It was not club/bar dark. It was dark dark. As in the lights were off.

They took my friends debit card, and any form of contact they offer doesnt work. Dead phone line, dead social media, (counter intuitive) and dont get me started on all the drugging accusations. Really bizarre that they have business.

Love this place. Reggae, 80s music, and throwbacks are just a few different types of music they offer. Staff is wonderful and entertaining.

I went there with some friends and my boyfriend, and while I was kissing my boyfriend I was told by some girl to stop making out and get out of the fing way. My boyfriend responded that he was just kissing his girlfriend and we were then escorted out of the bar by a bouncer and told we werent allowed back into the bar because we were fighting with a waitress. We were then told by another bouncer that the other guy had a thing with another girl. We were totally given unfair treatment for doing nothing wrong and it was biased based on a girl who wasnt even working at that moment. I will never go to this bar again. The bouncers were totally disrespectful for no reason at all.

This is a bar for everybody. Live music of all types, people of all types and good prices. Only go 5-10 times a year but always my favorite bar in town.

I absolutely love coming to Billy’s lounge, the staff is always amazing and the music is great to dance to. The pool tables make the place even better and the drinks are reasonably priced.

The elder statesmen to Mulligans brashness, but with just as much weirdness. Drinks are just as strong and just as cheap as Mulligans, but the weirdness has aged a bit, if you will. Its still got the oddities, but thats East Town for you.An absolute favorite haunt of mine. Just watch out for the stairs ;)

Its a place you can run into friends. Ones that you havent seen in a while.. with out a plan or appointment. Im talking about happy hour not the after 9 crowd.

Sound system is really good. Nice atmosphere and great specials. The staff are really nice human beings when it comes to service. 10/10 would enjoy atmosphere again.

Gedts really packed and the dance floor is small, but they have some great bands. But its really hard to move around.

The drinks are easily the cheapest anywhere and this place runs late even during the early week. The only downside is that sometimes this place attracts some very obnoxious people.

I have been here one time. I never went back I witnessed multiple drug deals happening openly in the billiards area, and that was all I needed to see.

Apparently post COVID-19 Billys is the fing place... Im handicapped so this doesnt work for me on so many levels, BUT, after all the shiny newness wears off, Ill be back...

Drinks were cheap! Female bartender had a bad attitude, little engagement at all on a Saturday night. And a basement bathroom, I wasnt very comfortable with it at all.

Bartenders are rude. The bouncer specifically voiced his dislike for police and military. This place rubbed me the wrong way.
