This place has a lot of potential! Great location with a cool interior. In the couple of times I have gone the bartenders don’t seem super welcoming but maybe they were just busy, and the drinks are a bit sweet. If the cocktails were a little more balanced this place would be a win for me!
I feel bad leaving 3 Stars, since I have a feeling that this place on a normal day would have been better. I liked the ambience (casual, wind-down-after-a-long-day-vibe) and the Small Plate options they had were pretty good too.. But I was not impressed by the Monkey Shoulder collaboration.. The drinks just tasted like sugary juice Mocktails, and the event was not well organized..Maybe their regular drinks are good, and I agree that they were just showcasing the Monkey Shoulder drinks for the Event, but I believe the onus of ensuring the Drinks or Food they showcase meets basic expectations falls on the establishment, so..
Loved this bar! Small but wasnt packed nor uncomfortable/too loud to hear my friend. The drinks were good and the service great. I want to go back.
Went on the Saturday and the place wasnt busy at all, but service was ok at best, and they made no effort to tell us outside food was allowed. It wasnt till we saw the sign outside when leaving that we found out.Calling this place a Kitchen isnt accurate. They have no food menu, but mention skewers which aside from the Brussel sprouts are miniscule. ($5 each)Overall drinks were fine, cocktails were good and beer selection was decent. The first impression was poor due to the above. Ill probably go back knowing what I know now.
Finally got to try this place out on a Saturday afternoon, I originally came in for a quick drink with my friend and ended up staying for hours . The kitchen isn’t set up yet but they allowed us to pick up food near by to enjoy there while we continued to drink , we thought that was extremely helpful because we definitely weren’t ready to leave lol. The bartender was Shawn , he was extremely knowledgeable about different types of cocktails and he was friendly overall , you could tell that he really enjoyed his craft and each drink he made was delicious . I can’t wait for them to be fully open .
Excellent atmosphere to hang out, have a drink. Great vibe.. and great service
The place is an ideal spot if you want to stop by and get a drink before the show at the theater. Have a bar on the lower section and upper section. The staff was great and responsive so my critique is not on them. The drinks shown in the picture are Desperate & Divine, and Moonage Daydream. Both were okay but really didnt stand out as anything great. Desperate and Divine had a huge cube in my first drink which is cool. Big blocks of see-through ice is always a nice touch for cocktails. Unfortunately the class was a little too thin and the icy block shattered it on the edge when I try to move it out of the way so I could drink. The bartender was quick to respond and make me another drink. It wasnt worth the $16 plus tip for each drink as it wasnt that impressive. Maybe if I had a different drink I could have had a different experience but it is what it is.
Fast service pre - show but the FYOF deal is stupid . Like most of the hipster area every place is either no liquor license or a bar with no food and I’ve never seen a city like this . If this place has basic snack appetizer menu it would’ve been where I hung before recent show but like others I talked to sent me elsewhere . And maybe also have happy bartenders that don’t look like suicidal Mumford and Sons members - geez does it hurt to smile in hospitality anymore ??
Great drinks. Fun staff. Will definitely return.
Stepped in here during a rain delay during the Jazz Jamboree in town. Loved the vibe and music. Bar staff was busy but efficient. Had some local brewerie drafts that were delish. Have a small appy menu only and interesting cocktails. Definitely worth a stop.
Fun place, fun drinks, cool atmosphere. Great location and chill staff.
This is my second time coming by. Both times the location is closed although the hours on google say otherwise. I’m not going to waste my time with a third try.
This place wins for the worse drink I’ve ever had in my life. Disgusting I could have thrown 20 dollars on the ground. Staff was rude and didn’t pay attention to anything. I’m so upset that I wasted my money coming here and no one asked how anything was. Really really bad customer service.
This could be such an amazing place. Its underutilized, unmarketed, with no special draw or attraction except for shows at the Welmont Theater. A real shame for the hundreds of people that live in the immediate area. If they could bring in a crowd of regulars maybe they can bring back a basic food menu.
Loved the atmosphere and loved their take on a mojito, the Quimbara. It was a great spot to have drinks while we waited for our reservations nearby. They had two bars. The place was busy, yet we got our drinks ordered quickly, and the bartenders were not pretentious.
Drafttails were excellent, very creative use of ingredients and combinations. also excellent service
Great cocktails & always a good vibe ☺️
Its a fun place, the service is jot great, not the worst either, I really liked the music. I didnt have food, so I dont have a comment about it. The place is close to the parking garage.
Tonight, I was across the street and asked the shopkeeper for a good bar in the area. They told me “Pharmacy”. On a whim, I decided to walk in and check out the scene. Made eye contact with the bartender from the door and walked over. He asked how he could help. I asked about the hours on Monday, as I planned on meeting up with someone. He said “we’re closed unless there’s an event at the theater”. So, I asked what the hours were when they’re open. “It depends how busy it is.”, he replies. This is a relatively busy bar with a decent amount of noise level. He could not have been more monotone or less enthusiastic about answering anything, and it was palpable he wasn’t interested in helping me. There was a woman standing next to the bar (possibly an employee) who overheard this and seemed very uncomfortable by our exchange. I simply said “thanks for your help”, smacked the bar and told him “have a good night”.If you want to bring in customers, maybe fein some interest in helping them. I would’ve came back and spent money, but this guy couldn’t even give a ballpark of what time this establishment operates, and he was just rude and uninterested.First impression, I wouldn’t bother with this place.
Been here twice and my experience both times was different. First time it was crowded, a very lively crowd. We were asked if we wanted to be seated, but we found a spot at the bar. The bartender was great, he made you feel welcome. His drinks were on point too. Had a good experience, we lost track of time.Second time around the girl at the front desk was to the side talking to someone else, no acknowledgment so we found our own seats, no spot at the bar this time. The waitress was ok, we got our drinks. It was a different crowd this time around so the vibe was off. We ordered the honey glazed chicken wings which was good. Ill probably give it another try.
Still love this little bar. Great spot in Montclair. But the bartenders have definitely gone down hill since Covid. There used to be some really great mixologists at this place who would customize your drink to your taste and now any time i have asked for something not on the menu or for a change to a drink they blatantly say no. Not even to switch out gin for vodka. Just not the same charm as it once had.
Great creative and delicious cocktails. A tasty seasonal menu, and an amazing, friendly staff.Under new management recently, so old reviews are sort of pointless.
Donny and Danny are remarkable bartenders. Very knowledgeable about their craft and it turns out most of the cocktails were designed by the two of them. The food is always excellent and music in the bar is great. All in all pretty great.
Its probably more 3.5 stars. The bartender was good but the 1 bartender led to some longer waits which he apologized for. The drinks were solid although a little pricey. But the food was kinda just average and neither of us finished our plate. All in all Id go back for drinks and the atmosphere.
I ordered what I though was a safe choice . . . a fruit-based martini, with chocolate undertones. How could fruit and chocolate taste bad? Well, it tasted like turpentine in a glass. If youre an alcohol fan, I guess that is good news for you- they dont skimp on the liquor!! Atmosphere-wise I had a good night out with the gals, but next time Ill just stick to the food.
Food was pretty good. I was slightly disappointed when the bartender messed up my order but said it no problem to bring the correct order out. The bartender left the incorrect food so me and my guest ate it as I’m sure it would’ve been thrown out anyway. I ended up getting charged for everything. Also, I got charged for 3 drinks even though I only had 2. Bartender had a long explanation of why he had to ring it up that way.
Came with my husband and 7 year old son for brunch. The food was good, my husband said the burger to bun ratio was off, the patty could have been bigger. My sons French toast was also tasty, but for 12 dollars ehhh could have given him more food. My quiche was on point. Not too bad at all
Great staff... Seriously... They are awesome. I go there all the time. Cocktails are the best.
Nice ambiance (Christmas explosion!) and friendly staff. One fault was that some of the holiday cocktails came out of premixed batches rather than individually made.
Food was pretty good. We had ordered a pretzel, but was brought a grilled cheese instead. The bartender apologized and said that it was his mistake, and that he would be bringing out our correct order. He left the grilled cheese in front of us during this time, so we assumed it would be on the house and proceeded to eat it as a result. However, at the end of our meal, he charged us for the grilled cheese. He also made me 2 mojitos which were both the same, yet charged me $4 more for one of the two. I pointed out that he had made a mistake, but he provided me with a detailed confusing explanation as to why one drink had an upcharge. All in all, it was ok service and food, but we did leave feeling a bit robbed of our money.
Really cool newish bar/restaurant. Food was surprisingly good, staff very nice and attentive, atmosphere is good, too. Kinda weird layout but not necessarily bad. Good addition to the mix.
Good drinks. They have an alcohol license which is rare in Montclair. Staff if wonderful. Food is very good though expensive. The octupus lettuce wraps were perfect, tender and tasty. The labneh was also great.
I liked this place. We stopped for appetizers while waiting for a reservation we had at another restaurant and it was perfect for that. Overall, the appetizers were good and the place wasn’t too loud.
Great place to grab drinks before a concert or after dinner. Cocktail menu is cool and the staff is very friendly.
I’ve been here a few times before Covid. The drinks are always incredible as the mixologist are masters of their craft. The house made mixes/ingredients makes the drinks that much better.
Don was a great bartender, very informative and attentive. Beer selection is good. We enjoyed the Brix Porter. Thanks for selling me on the Rittenhouse Rye!
The cocktails were mediocre and the service from the bartenders was borderline rude. Not worth a visit in my opinion.
This place was such a great place to be. Ive always drove pass but this time it was worth taking the drive around the blocks (5x) to find parking and go inside. Food was GREAT! ILL BE BACK DEFINITELY
Hour and half wait for small plates? And completely forget to bring out 3 food items. 1 round of drinks in an hour and half. Server was cool. But kitchen and drinks way toooooooo slooooow!!!!!!!
Second time here. Excellent all around. Creative cocktails, delicious food in an awesome atmosphere. Definitely recommend.
Great waitress, great Tequila selection. Limited menu. But what little they had was good. Fun vibe. Will be back.
Get the Wellmont Burger, it’s to die for. Great gastro-style menu with lots of elegant cocktails and a solid beer selection. I always go home happy.
Excelent service , Gus , the chef is the best in town . Special and personal atentions . The desserts are the best ( yummy ) tru next time your are in the city ! From Florida to New Jersey !
Staff is incredible, great times. Trust me if I remembered my great hair/eyebrowed bartender I’d give him a shoutout, but I suffer from short memory loss.
This bar is so cool. Drinks are fantastic and the music choice is great.
André makes a fabulous French75.
Trendy. Classy & Zen. Young Excellent mixologist, Bartender felt like an old Friend .... Great for romantic evening or to Impress a DATE.
Cool place, nice cocktails... Neither bartender we had was friendly..not mean or rude.. just not friendly....
Great place to catch a quick drink, experienced bar tenders & a great vibe + the history with the Welmont
Great place for drinks before a show at the Welmont or before dinner. They do serve food there to but Ive never eaten there.
Their menu options are very limited. They only have 2 bathrooms with ONE toilet in each. They take wayyyy too long for EVERYTHING. I will not be back !
Bartender is very knowledgeable in the signature drinks. Great place to stop and wait for open tables at nearby restaurants.
Super cute / quaint place. Food and drinks on point. Staff very friendly. This is my new spot!
Great atmosphere and ambiance
No stars the food was not good. The wait staff was not attendtive to us a table of 6. Will not be going back.
Please update your hours on your website. I was now told that they are no longer open on Sundays and Monday... I was really looking foward to doing brunch this Sunday....
The owner and workers are one of a kind! Super friendly with a great atmosphere. Highly recommend!!!
Not too busy Sunday night. Service was great and atmosphere was relaxed. Will come back
Saturday night and no hostess, we ordered some drinks and they took forever to get it actually the food came before than the drinks.
Would love to try the food and drinks here but there always closed even though it says they are open online.
Love the food. Surprisingly good. Cant wait for it to reopen after COVID.
Nice looking place but no speciality cocktails and some missing liqours
Had a drink here while waiting for a table at another restaurant. The detox cocktail was delicious!
Nice place. Fun drinks, casual dress, good grilled cheese.
Great apperizers, delicious desserts, friendly efficient staff! Good vibe
Delicious drinks, crowded before a show so a little slow but worth it.
Love this place the staff is super sweet and the drinks and food are delicious !
Danny is an amazing bartender! So glad we went there
