The Station Inn

Walking into the Station Inn is like stepping back in time. The small nondescript grey building is surrounded by high rises and fancy restaurants. Pass all those by and follow the men in flannel and boots heading into the cash only building on the corner. Excellent beer served in plastic cups and the best music around.

I love this place! Its not on the strip. So, its a lot more relaxed. Very casual atmosphere. They have had some great performers on stage. Some of which are very famous. Occasionally, you have a cameo appearance from some major stars that was totally unplanned.You must get there early to secure a seat or a table for your group.

Nashville is Music City with good reason. We just spent a week there and saw music every day, from the bars and honky tonks of Broadway and Printers Alley to the Opry and the Bluebird (Bluebird on 3rd actually, as the original one was closed for repair). All of it was good and some of it was excellent. The Sunday Gospel at the Station Inn was my overall favourite musical experience of the week. For a very reasonable $20 we got a 9 piece band of Nashville veterans in a small classic room singing like the Eagles and picking like Flatt and Scruggs. The location is great, the drinks were cheap and the vibe was perfect for listening. Highly recommended. We bought tix in advance that day but would have been fine to have walked up, although the entrance at the door was cash only. This is a gig well worth checking out and supporting when you are in Nashville.

Broadway is chaotic. Thank goodness we made it to the Station Inn - its precisely what we were looking for. Cold beer, popcorn, and playing cards to pass the time before the band started. And then just some of the greatest bluegrass Ive ever heard. Troubadour Blue is now on my Youtube Music playlist! Dont miss this chill, down-to-earth, authentic spot.

This quaint, unassuming spot offers a true Nashville experience. I’m not particularly a fan of bluegrass but seeing (hearing) live the medley of guitar, fiddle, mandolin, banjo, and bass is something special. The talent of these guys is remarkable even to the non-musically inclined.The food menu is simple, more of a snack bar than anything but the pizza really hits the spot. The “bartender” was incredibly kind, when I asked if they sell any desserts, he offered me a slice of his homemade birthday cake (might be the best I’ve ever had). He also made a guest appearance with the band - quite the mandolin-player!

Unique experience, super divey, came here for listening to the Sunday night bluegrass jam. Had to wait in line to grab beer and wait until some people shuffled out got some seats, more seats open up around 8:30/9.

Awesome spot to see bluegrass talent. Loved the pizza and beer, welcoming cozy vibe, and price. Would highly recommend to visitors and cant wait to come back.

Getting into Bluebird Cafe can be a chore but queuing up at The Station Inn is time well spent. This is the home of bluegrass and country supporting the real traditions of the Nashville music scene. An absolute must visit for anyone who wants to experience the real Nashville. There’s a genuine warmth of spirit from the people working, and playing music, in The Station Inn.

Fun, casual, “old school” place with great Bluegrass. We got there really early on a Thursday, thinking it might sell out, but we probably didn’t need to. The music was great, and food and drinks were reasonably priced. The staff was awesome as well.

Like a tiny bluegrass oasis, nestled amongst all the new developments in The Gulch. It’s a real charmer of a place too;A cash only cover charge gets you some of the best live music in a genuine, family friendly environment, and the atmosphere is pure joy. We came to see Steve Huber and the Flatheads here. Amazing music in this old venue. It was clean but a bit run down. $15 entry each but they didnt charge for our 11 year old daughter and were very kid friendly. In fact a very friendly venue. Reasonable beer selection. Definitely a place Id go back to fir brilliant live music.

Nobody goes here for the food or the drink selection. Its cheap pizza, popcorn, beer, and soft drinks. People go here for the atmosphere (old time country bar) and the music (awesome Bluegrass). Hands-down one of the best venues in Nashville, and as an added bonus, you will find no bachelorette parties here.

Walked to Station Inn after feeling disheartened at Broadway, as not a single bar was playing country music there. Got to enjoy high quality bluegrass and had affordable drinks, with a great seat and view of the band. Staff was also very friendly. I would definitely come back and recommend this place to anyone. Awesome experience 👏

I came for their bluegrass music on a Sunday night. Had so much fun talking to people who were traveling through. They had quite a few people in from different parts of the world, including Australia that joined in the jam session. Will definitely be back as this is a true authentic bluegrass circle

Great music experience. Eight highly skilled musicians plus a well known fiddle player took to the stage and lit it up.. Great bluegrass music, the beat of Americana. Suggest you buy a table in advance, all of other seating might be side stage or standing room only. Get there early !! Door opens at 7, music begins @ 8pm.

You dont come here for the beer or food selection. Its all about the music played by passionate local musicians. Well worth the $20 entrance.

Such a great place to see bluegrass and folk music. Much better than the crowded and over priced honkey-tonks on Broadway. Very intimate, simple venue and a great place to meet other folks with the same taste in music. Doors open at 7pm. Show is at 9pm. Get in line early for popular bands and you cant go to The Station Inn without trying the pizza!

Just had a long weekend in Nashville and this was easily the highlight. We came in to see the bluegrass jam and it was something special. The service is great, staff is friendly and the atmosphere was really cool. Highly recommend.

An iconic establishment with consistently excellent bluegrass music. Might be the best music venue in Nashville. Super casual; it’s about the music.

Went to the bluegrass jam last Sunday. I agree with one of the reviews I read about needing more microphones and telling the audience to keep it down. We could hardly hear the musicians (what we did hear was very good) from the one microphone hanging down from the ceiling. I was impressed by one of the singers who really belted out a song so she could be heard over the audience. At least 2 more microphones should be configured to hang down from the roof like the one that was there - or 2 microphone stands. Also, right before the musicians start (was about 7:30pm last Sunday) and intermittently thereafter, what harm is it to ask the audience to respect the musicians, first of all, and respect those in the audience sitting around them by keeping their conversations to a minimum and at a whisper sound level? We traveled thousands of miles to hear the table to the right of us talk about Los Angeles vs Nashville and multiple tables to the left of us talk about sports, some friend who was going to join the jam that night, the long beer line, etc., instead of the bluegrass music we were so looking forward to hear.

GEM! A must experience! You never know who will show up, but get there early to wait in line for the best seat. Snacks were pretty good, too!

The Station Inn was hands down the best musical experience Ive had in Nashville. Love country music (especially the real stuff, non pop) but Im here for the bluegrass/folk. We saw Billy Droze and Kentucky Blue. Billys wife made a guest appearance and what a treat that was. The entire Kentucky Blue band was great, the five string banjo player was the best Ive ever seen. The staff was incredibly hospitable and personable, best prices in town too! 10/10 would recommend. Well be back.

This place has been around since 1974, I believe, and it definitely looks like it inside. Which gives it so much character and charm, I want to move bottle it.No bad seat in the house with the farthest being about 30 feet from the stage.We queued for a little over an hour on a Tuesday to see Long Jon and would do it again in a heartbeat. Those guys just have the best camaraderie and just have fun with it.Can’t wait to go back!

In my top 5 stops during my Nashville visit. Very low key joint but top notch performances. Don’t go hungry. They serve beer and wine.

Such a great music act tonight but the owners son really it ruined it for us. He asked my husband to quiet down (fair enough) as it is live music. However he doesn’t follow the same rules for himself and sat behind the bar chatting. I looked at him as they were quite loud and overhead him saying “if that lady looks at me one more time then I’m going to go rip her phone out of hand”. Wow- I would not return to this location based on him alone.

What an amazing historical place, so many legends of Bluegrass have performed here, as well as countless dreamers!!!

Larry Cordle , Mike Rogers , Val Story and friends Sunday gospel show was great . Keep in mind we are huge bluegrass fans but in our opinion one of the best shows we have ever attended. Great Bluegrass gospel!!!!

Family friendly, casual, live music. Must have cash at the door for tickets but snack bar/drinks can be paid for with credit card. Fun place. We really enjoyed it and will definitely go back.

This is the best show in Nashville. The performers are authentic, hard working, and genuine artists. It’s so much better than the junk on Broadway.

Absolutely, positively a most delightful experience. Come early to even get a seat! Really! Bluegrass new and old by players of all ages and abilities. Players changed in as out as did their songs and leads. A lifelong memory for sure. People from all over the country were there for the experience. Beers 4 bucks! Every time I am in Nashville I have to stop by this little dive bar. The atmosphere is amazing, nice people, great music. You may even run into a famous country singer. Couldnt recommend this place any higher.

I was looking for authentic bluegrass and found it with the Sunday night Jam session at Station Inn. There was no cover charge. It was free flowing and open to musicians to join in. Very welcoming crowd! Older children are welcome.Show started at 7pm; there was a line forming around 6 and doors opened at 6:30pm. Seats are first come, first served. They serve beer, popcorn, pizza, hotdogs and some other bar foods.Parking lot right across the street for convenience.If you love bluegrass this is the place for you!

Amazing traditional famous venue where we attended a Meet & Greet during CMA Fest. Buckets of ice cold beers and you cant go wrong.

Expensive cover fee and expensive beer. The door was $20 and a draft beer was $10. Its a big place so there is plenty of seating. I dont know if they have other types of music but we saw a bluegrass group who were very talented, though it isnt my favorite kind of music.Edit: They claim $7 beer and I wont argue. Im sure I am mistaken and I just forgot what I paid.

It’s an awesome place with lots of history. We saw a concert of Becky Buller and it was wonderful! The food is simple but decent. We’ll definitely be coming back to listen to some music again. Highly recommend it!

This place has always been the best place to hear what I call America music it is the bluegrass inn which I love but from time to time they also have county music. There are times that you will not here better music anywhere in the world that’s not an exaggeration that’s a fact. Love 45 rpm!!!

Awesome blue grass jam session. Fun. I felt like I was in my own living room

Simply put, my wife has a severe seafood allergy, and the waiting staff turned us away, saying they couldn’t guarantee that there would be no cross-contamination. So if you have a severe seafood allergy, this may not be your place.

Went for the Sunday night jam. A lot of fun. If you really want to hear the jam session, I advise arriving later- perhaps around 8 pm. By then, some of the tourists start to peel off and the bar line is shorter. You will be able to grab a beer and get a better seat without lining up at 6pm. Also, the musicians start to gel more as the evening wears on, so the music gets better after an hour or so.

Great venue, but be aware it’s not 21+ and they let children in for some reason. Be prepared to listen to screaming children during the set.

The best venue in Nashville including the Opry. This honest club gave us the only bluegrass music we could find in Nashville and what a treat it was. The guys from the Green River Review must be the love children of Sam Bush and Bella Fleck. Speaking as a pro musicians I was blown away by their Great musicianship, up close and personal style. I will be there when these guys get to the UK. The Station Inn is one of the main reasons I would return to Nashville again.

I absolutely loved Bluegrass night. Here and Roberts Western World are my two favorite spots for live classic Country music.

Visited the Station Inn 20 years ago, and although the surrounding area has changed drastically, happily the Station Inn and the music remains unchanged.

Went on Sunday night for the bluegrass jam. Very fun and nothing I have ever experienced before. I think they would benefit from having more microphones. Sitting in the back is difficult to hear what the musicians are saying but very enjoyable.

Its world famous for a reason. Great show.

Very nice laid back place! First time ever here! You have to sit in Lester Flats tour bus seats🤘🎶 They are in the left hand corner of the stage when you walk in! From what I hear, they used to be on his tour bus! Great attention was paid to the singers and musician on stage! So cool! I play and sing too, great vibe🤘🎶❤️! Super friendly staff, you have to try the pizza ;) Much love from the Bluegrass state!

Our absolute favorite stop in Nashville. In our four days in Nashville, we spent somewhere around eight hours at the Station Inn seeing various music events. It was that fun!

We came here on our last night of Nashville. We were discouraged because we found nothing in Nashville that suited us. No bars played any bluegrass or actual country music. Drinks overpriced. This place saved our entire trip. It was amazing, and the band was phenomenal. Do your self a favor and just start here and you’ll never want to go anywhere else.

Great small venue for quality bluegrass music just a short walk away from the overwhelming crowds on Friday night in Broadway. If the bar scene is not your scene, but great live music is check out the Station Inn. $15 cover for 2 hours of authentic, high quality music. Get there early for the best seats. We showed up about an hour before the show and the front row was full but there are no bad seats. Pizza and beer are also decently priced. But you definitely go for the music, not the food.

What a gorgeous place! One of the best bluegrass music venues I’ve seen by far. The staff are really cool and have great respect for artists and the work they produce. The crowd is ALWAYS so much fun to be a part of. If you’re looking to enjoy some genuinely good quality music, this is a must.

What a fantastic venue to visit on our one week trip to beautiful Nashville! It was our last evening there and boy did it not disappoint! The Special Consensus band was FANTASTIC!! You cannot visit Nashville and not go to the Station Inn!! It is where so many great singer/songwriters have had their start!

I really hate to do a review on this place because I would love more than anything to keep it a secret from everyone..but the truth is, if you want real, untainted music and atmosphere, this is the spot!Dale ann Bradley, you are amazing and will always remain at the top of my list of people and music!

KNOW BEFORE YOU GO: As the sound engineer put it to me, this is a LISTENING room aka not a catching-up-with-friends kinda place.The music is top notch. The musicians take it very seriously and expect a respectful audience. Maybe because of the acoustics, our (what we thought was quiet) chatting between 2 of us got us shushed- literally from the stage- from the very talented fiddler (not to mention her side-eyes!). We were mortified.We got there at 7 and so glad we did because we had a group of 6 and no reservations.Wonderful music, really cool experience, dont go with someone youll want to talk to and be ready to just relax and enjoy the show!

Stopped in to see some live music, and was not disappointed! The band was great and the staff was amazing! I cannot wait to go back and enjoy this place again. The only downside is when I see bluegrass, I want some whiskey!!! But the experience was good enough to earn them 5 stars for me!

Now this is what visiting Nashville is all about! REAL country and bluegrass music.All of the musicians were talented and there was a nice mix of old time favorites, rarer singles, and even some new songs from local artists and others visiting.The venue is a very simple music hall with 8’ tables and chairs lined up. They had some local beer on tap from Yazoo Brewing in addition to many popular domestics. There are some simple snacks to complement your drinks.

Great evening of top bluegrass music. Warm and close to stage atmosphere. Pizzas upto halftime. Return already planned.

I visited the Station Inn on a Sunday night, and I am very much glad I did. Its intimate, and the atmosphere is unique. There was a circle of local musicians playing bluegrass. But these are not the average musicians you would find on Broadway. These are Joes and Janes, with an amazing feeling for music and with a unique touch. Its bluegrass at its finest. This woman called Peggy, she was so kind to introduce each one of those musicians, she knows them all, shes been there for many many years, I felt the warmth and kindness that emanates from that place. As soon as I walked in, I felt goosebumps and watery eyes as if I had found something really really special amidst Nashvilles plethora of music. Now I am back home, far away from the Station Inn, and all I have left is a very valuable memory, which I will hold dearly in my heart.

One of my favorite stops in Nashville. Theres no pretense, no frills. Reserved seating is done with a paper plate. The sound system is adequate, and the acts are, well... If bluegrass and Americana are your cup of tea, youll feel at home. The beer is good, the pimento cheese cracker plate is a great snack. If you are by yourself, sit back at the bar and chat with Mr. JT Gray, the owner. And dont be surprised if he winds up on stage with the headliner act.

Saw a bluegrass band here the other night. Its a gem of a place. Fun place to see a band!

This is a nice little inn with great music, drinks, and a friendly yet professional staff. On Sunday nights, they play live bluegrass music, which is usually fantastic.

We Love all the guys they are incredible musicians!!!! Great atmosphere ❤️

Sunday Bluegrass Jam was a highlight of my trip to Nashville!

This place was a real gem. Seriously so wonderful. So small that there are no bad seats. The emphasis is clearly on the music, real country music.

This was one of the most amazing venues and groups Ive ever seen. The musicians (New Monday) were mind blowingly amazing, each one of them. Individually they were incredibly talented but together, their synergy, respect and joy took it to another level. If we lived close by, wed be in trouble cuz wed be there every night. Will never forget this night and the feeling of being in the presence of musical phenoms.

The Station Inn is one of the last iconic places to hear great music. A must if you are in Nashville. Saw Fireball Mail there. What a show!

We went to see/hear our longtime friends, Mike and Joanie Johnson with 45 RPM. I would give them five stars, even if they played outside in the parking lot! But, Station Inn is an exceptional venue! It gives me goosebumps to think of all the talent those walls have seen! Attentive and friendly staff, good homemade pizzas! Clearly a favorite gathering spot for musicians - counted 6 steel guitar players in the room! 5 stars for the venue; five for the band. That makes 10 stars! 😊😎

I really dont like finding out at the door that admission is CASH, especially for IBMA benefits. The Station owns and profits from the ATM, and we KNOW why cash is king.. Duh.... $3 convenience fee PLUS the $7 that my bank charges- GRrrrrrrr! No tickets in advance!

Really enjoyed the evening here. The music was phenomenal. The venue was not what I expected as food & alcohol menus are limited & you’re sitting on a plane wooden chair with a small wooden table but the entertainment made up for it all! After all it’s all about the music!

The band was a country band that felt obligated to play a few Bluegrass tunes.Not what we expected or paid for. They proudly said no liquor, no wine, ever! Beer only, didnt expect that either.

My favourite place in Nashville. Fantastic live music and really lovely bartenders. The only downside is they don’t sell hard liquor, but if you can get groovy with just a beer this is the perfect venue!

It feels like Nashvilles Gulch district has grown up around this, like a tree growing around an old wire fence and yet the fence survives.This place is the real deal. Atmosphere, history, surely the best musicians in town - unpretentious and authentic to the end.I hear Sunday nights are good!

Went to the 12/28/22 show which featured Ronnie Bowman, Rob McCoury, Ashby Frank and other award winning musicians and special surprise guests Billy Strings and Shawn Camp. What an absolutely amazing experience. Even though they had never all played together before, they were fantastic from start to finish. Be advised, if you want to hoot, holler, eat from a full menu and generally party hard, dont come here. Go down to Lower Broadway. If you want to actually hear the music from top musicians, this is the place. The sound system is not particularly loud (which I am thankful for) so if you yell and carry on during the music, you will disturb others and you might be asked to quiet down. If being asked to quiet down makes you show your tail, you might be asked to leave. This did happen when i was there and i was glad they left. Dont forget to bring cash to get in the door.

The Station Inn was my favorite part of my trip to Nashville, and this is coming from someone who doesn’t regularly listen to bluegrass. I went on a Wednesday night with one other person, and we saw The Baker Family perform. They were phenomenal, and experiencing this historic venue was amazing. I can only assume the Inn curates bands that are close to this good every night.We arrived at about 6:15pm to wait outside before they opened at 7pm, and there were just a couple of people there before us. I’m not sure if this is typical, but we didn’t need to get there so early. The place didn’t fill up, which was a shame because of how great the band was. The show started promptly at 8pm, which seems to be typical for Mon-Wed, and they played for 2 hours.We ordered a pizza and a beer each, which were reasonably priced and sized. The pizza wasn’t bad, and the beer selection was solid. Including a $15 cover for the band, it was the best value experience in Nashville by a long shot.

The Station Inn was the highlight of our trip. We got to see Fireball Mail on Friday, January 13th 2023. Everything about this place was phenomenal. I was really disappointed with the nashville country scene because Im more of a bluegrass guy, and the station inn just felt like home. The staff was outstanding (and even hopped up on stage to play some mandolin). If you are a bluegrass fan, or a music fan in general - DO NOT MISS THE STATION INN. Ive been to 100+ bluegrass shows/venues and this is easily in my top 3. Good beer and pizza, too. Thank you, Station Inn! Hoping to be back tonight.

What a cool place! After the insanity of Broadway, The Station Inn feels like stumbling across a secret kept for locals, but was still welcoming to tourists. The food and beer is basic, but tasty. At any rate, youre here for the music. Bluegrass is the focus and the place delivers. A definite highlight of our trip to Nashville.

I’ve been coming here for over 10 years and to date it is still the best music venue in Nashville. Authentic is the name of the game here. The vibe is authentic without hipster pretense. The music is authentically incredible, and the regulars who come are authentically nice and supportive people. This is a breathe of fresh air for a music focused venue so close to downtown. Do not come if you’re looking to get drunk and rowdy as you’ll be the jerk in the crowd. But for folks who enjoy great musicianship in an intimate club you’ve got to stop by the station inn. Almost all shows are worth it, but we especially love “new Mondays” to see some of the best players in town play on classics all night.

Had a great time listening to some great talent at the Sunday night blues jam. Excellent music, sound was well done. Very small place, and jam took place on an area of the floor to the left of the bar, rather than on the stage, so it was hard to see the players as they interacted with each other, which is a big part of the fun of jamming. There must be a reason, i just dont know what it is. I suggest going and standing on the stage for a great view of the players.

I would love to give this place another shot because Ive heard great things about the other shows. However, Sundays are a bust. The musicians do not even play on the stage. They play to the far left of it with no microphones or a sound system. So if you go make sure you sit directly in front of them or you will hear people talking over the music. We left after about 15 minutes.The website also says 7pm and many of us were there at 6 thinking the doors open an hour before but the doors open at 7pm.All in all I would skip Sundays and try another day here where the band is actually on the stage and you can hear the music!

Definitely an old school bluegrass jam session. If youre into that kind of music I definitely recommend it. Very limited seating so get there early. Oh yeah, admission is free!

Visited during the bluegrass jam session on a Sunday night and had a great time. A very casual, friendly , and easy going place.

Attended the Sunday Bluegrass Jam. It was difficult to enjoy the music as the patrons were conversing loudly throughout, more of a social gathering than a listening venue. There were no opening comments reminding people that this is a LISTENING room, so perhaps my expectations were off. In any case, not recommended if you actually want to appreciate the music.

Great and iconic live entertainment bar. One of the best in Nashville. They serve pizza and beer but the best reason to come here is of course the music. They attract some of the biggest names you have never heard of but should know. Sunday’s at the Station Inn are especially renown for their Gospel and Bluegrass sessions. This is the kinda place you expected to find in Nashville only to learn there are not many of these authentic venues left.

We went Sunday evening to the Bluegrass circle. An experience I wont soon forget. Such amazing talent in Nashville and Station Inn is the perfect, relaxed venue. We will be back!

We saw the Borrowed Mules at the Station Inn on our last night in Nashville and they did not disappoint!! While the venue itself isnt fancy, it didnt need to be for us to have a great night! The drinks were inexpensive, the pizza was good, the people were nice, and the entertainment was top notch!!The Station Inn provides an intimate, low key atmosphere that is very different from what youll find downtown on Broadway. However, if the Borrowed Mules are any indication of the type of talent generally at the Station Inn, Id highly recommend you make this a stop on your tour of Nashville!

Famous and old stage, but the musicians are extraordinary. If you need to pay an entrance fee this will be only cash. At the bar credit cards are allowed. Only beer, no wines. Popcorn ans pizza, thats it more or less.

Incredible venue! Skip Broadway and all the craziness. The station is where its at. Family place it seemed. Very mom and pop vibe. Small bar selection and just snacks for food. Awesome little pizzas though! Best music I saw while in Nashville. And you can have a conversation while youre in there. Cant recommend it enough.

My husband and I went there last night and the live band played bluegrass .music. They were very good.. But thats if you like bluegrass music. The band really got into playing their music. They were so much fun to listen to and all the people really got into it. So see them sometime. They are in Nashville.

One of the last original old venues left in Nashville. Its a awesome little dive with a reasonable cover charge and great REAL music. They offer pizza, hotdogs, popcorn etc but youre really not there for the food. Try the local Whiskey Barrel Ale.The night my wife and I went we saw Rachel Davis and Friends, she was really good. A true class act with amazing pipes!

I hope the wait staff will read this review. My boyfriend and I were going to meet the tour trolley at this address. He began to have issues with his blood sugar. When I alerted the staff, they were quick to respond with the needed food. Our waitress was kind enough to arrange Uber transportation back to our hotel.I will be forever grateful for their kindness.The food was great also!

Its a tiny room with cold beer an good talent.

Despite what the website says, the doors open at 7 and the music begins shortly thereafter. By 6:30 there was a line waiting at the door but there was seating for everyone.Here is a serious issue - most of the audience could not hear the music! Big Fail.The band played in a corner and not on stage. There were no mics or amplifiers! The musicians pretty much played to each other, not the audience.It could have been so much better if the performance had been on the stage, directed to the audience, and with proper sound amplification and management.

This place was awesome. We got to enjoy live bluegrass from the Tim Shelton Syndicate. There is not a bad seat in this intimate and non-pretentious venue.

There is no other venue like the Station Inn in Nashville or even in the whole country, a truly unique and wonderful place. If you are a fan of bluegrass and acoustic music you must see a show here if you have the opportunity. As a Nashville resident Ive gone to concerts here for the last two decades, so many great shows, and even been lucky enough to play here several times with my band. Its a legendary place filled with great bluegrass music every night of the week, run by a wonderful owner and staff. Get a cold beer and a thing of popcorn and settle in for some good ol good bluegrass music!

Best place for live blue grass music. It gave such an interesting vibe. The bar looked like your moms kitchen, and there were tables and school tables all around. I think this really gave a taste of what real music sounds like. Hoping places like these stay open in the coming years. Had a blast! The cover fee was obviously worth it!

What a great place. While the talented musicians are the draw, everything from the relatively low cost first-come first-serve admission and the simple beer, pizza menu create a genuine atmosphere and entertainment value that is so hard to find in any city today. A big thumbs up to owner J. T. Gray for keeping this a small affordable venue with a great atmosphere.... and also for taking the time to meet me so I could collect my credit card that I left there after the Monday Oct 8 show. This is one of my favorite music venues in town. If you love bluegrass, this is the place to go. I would venture to say that there’s no place in the country offering a more consistent lineup of bluegrass music seven days a week. I love that The Station Inn is serious about music. The food and beer is minimal, but the music is not. If you stand in front of someone else’s view of the small stage during a packed house, the waitress will come by and tell you to move. If you talk during a performance, the waitress will shush you. I just hope and pray this place never shuts down. It’s one of the last few old Nashville joints left, and it’s truly a treasure. The free Bluegrass Jam on Sunday nights is a treasure in itself.

Fantastic bluegrass in an authentic environment. We visited for the Sunday session which was absolutely fantastic. The musical session felt organic & fun filled.

One of the best places to go for live country music. Its almost always packed, so youll be sitting close to others (some masked/some not). The music is great- varieties of country. They have a handful of beer and snack options (pizza, popcorn, pimento cheese dip, etc).

Went on a Monday night and saw Carl Jackson, Larry Cordle, Val Storey and friends...they were incredible! Best deal in town to see musicians like this. Awesome classic country and bluegrass music. Have some craft beer on tap and some popcorn to top off your night. One of my favorite places I was able to visit in Nashville!!

My wife and I had a fantastic time here. The live music was incredible. There are a few local beers on tap and several varieties in bottles along with cheap pizza and popcorn. Its extremely low key with very basic tables add chairs. We sat in something like a high back love seat in the back with a table. The band was great, you could hear very well but it wasnt crazy loud. There was a little old lady in the front that would shooosh anyone trying to talk over the band. It was awesome. This place is all about the music. The $15 cover was the best return on a cover I have ever spent.

Dropped into Nashville to hear good music. Station Inn was highly recommended and it didnt disappoint. Its a perfect space for listening to great acoustic music. Shawn Lane & Richard Bennett were performing one beautiful song after another, great guitar and fiddle playing and singing, well-crafted lyrics, entertaining patter. What a night.

The Station Inn is a landmark of country music. Its a small venue. The seating is first come first served. All the seats offer an excellent view of the stage.The sound was great! Both the vocals and instruments were crisp and clear. You can enjoy pitchers of Yazoo beer. Theres pizza (but youd probably be better off at the pizza place next door.)We were lucky enough to see Charlie Worsham and he was great! If you get the chance to see a show at The Station Inn dont pass it up.

Ive heard about the Station Inn for years and Ive always wanted to go. This year I finally made it and I was not disappointed. It is much smaller than I thought it would be but that just adds to its charm . The pizza is good. Is Smirnoff Ice is good. And the live bluegrass music is good good good good good. I had to get a t-shirt too, just had to. Definite must visit if you are a Bluegrass fan at all. Really fun place.

One of the best venues in town. Ive been going here since I was a kid. Grab a thing of popcorn and enjoy the show! Its not uncommon for a star to take the stage to sit in for a few tunes. They dont have liquor here just a few beers on tap and a selection of bottles. Dont miss out on this World Famous Nashville staple.

I can only pass judgement on what I saw. Its a pretty ropey venue with basic tables and chairs. What I would call a spit and sawdust type of place. Nothing wrong with that by the way, but you definitely dont go there for the decor. You go for the music. The place was packed but the music on display the night attended was of really great musicians who found themselves in a very odd situation. The atmosphere was bizarre and really not the best bluegrass available. I dont want to go into further detail as it feels rather intrusive. What I will say however is I felt I was intruding on some type of family gathering and not a professional show. I wouldnt mind but its $15 to get in and for that price I expect something a bit more together. Im sorry. I wish I didnt have to write this but it was just not good enough.

You will not find a more authentic live music experience in Nashville. This venue is spectacular and special. You feel the history the moment you walk in. Only the best bluegrass players perform on that stage.

Our last stop on a long weekend in Nashville. Went on a Sunday night after dinner at the Pub. The place doesnt look like much, but the music is incredible. Good wholesome bluegrass music at its finest. Besides the Grand Ole Opry itself, it was a second favorite music venue.

I heard about the Station inn on the Ken Burns series on country music and from an Uber driver who was full of useful information. The Borrowed Mules we’re playing that night. They were absolutely brilliant. If you see they are playing be sure to go . Their musical talent is very impressive . Pay attention and their wit will have you watery eyed with laughter . We will be back . Thanks to Josh , Ruth and the girls behind the bar for their hospitality.

Awesome and historical venue. The best of bluegrass and more. Located in The Gulch, along with upscale shops, restaurants and more. Get there before 9:00 with the music starts. The crowd thinned out while I was there and I was able to move from the walls to the tables.

I visited Nashville for the first time and was so glad that we went to the Station Inn one of our last nights. We saw Jimmy Stewart and Friends and were instant fans of the music and atmosphere. On our trip, we also saw the Soggy Bottom Boys at the Rhyman which was also fantastic. Although quite different venues, I loved them both equally! I always recommend Station Inn when in Nashville. 🎶

Been here twice... Once for Sunday night pick which was impressive and the other for a paid show. Both different but so much fun. All about the music and back home family values both times. Support it, please. Well worth it!!!

The French Family Band on 10/3/2022 rocked the house. I have seen them numerous times. I love that station inn is still going despite all these companies stripping Nashville of who/what it was. It is heart breaking. But, I will still be going to see music at Station inn.

I would like to thank their owner and managers. We came in the last 15 minutes of the Sunday Gospel. They didn’t charge us a cover and let us stay as they changed over the venue for the 7 pm show. They could have booted my wife and I out of the place. We soaked in the ambiance of the place and hung out until the next show which was AWESOME!

Visiting from Denver and The Station Inn is a definite highlight from our trip! Came for Bluegrass Night on Sunday and it was a true experience. We were so impressed with the talented musicians and the vibe of this place. If we come back to Nashville were definitely coming to The Station Inn!

This humble venue is the penultimate destination for bluegrass in Nashville. No frills, no nonsense, just a stage filled with the best of the best on the scene in an intiment setting The pizza is quite tasty and the beer selection is just right.You’ll not be disappointed, it’s worth whatever the price of admission is.

We came on a Sunday to watch the bluegrass open session. Enjoyable - lots of talent. The building and furnishings arent much to look at but the music made up for it.

Well worth the cover charge. We went our last night in town and couldt be more happy that we fit this in. We really wanted to hear some bluegrass music and were told this was the place to go. I was apprehensive about the cover charge but I wouldnt think twice about spending it again. Like their website says though it is first come, first serve seating. It is not a huge place so if you are going to see a popular band or a weekend night I would definitely recommend getting there before the band starts.You can see the band playing streaming live on their website but it just doesnt quite do them justice. So if you like that type of music just go.

Great and intimate venue. Decent beer selection, dont go there for the pizza... But for the artist both local and National. Staff is super friendly and helpful and the bathrooms are clean. Im from out of town but felt like this was a piece of my own neighborhood, very welcoming atmosphere.

If you love bluegrass music go to the Station Inn. No telling who will stop by to sit in with the band. Small venue.

Best music in town, friendly staff, affordable beer, and satisfying bar food.My only criticism would be that it seems that you can never (or rarely) purchase tickets ahead of time. I have missed out on some shows before because I wasnt able to get off work before the place filled up. It doesnt happen often, but its a real bummer when it does.Still, the Station Inn is my favorite place in Nashville!

Very unassuming dive bar located The Gulch neighborhood. Bottle of beer $5-6, pitcher of beer $14-18. Do the math. Get the pitcher. Bluegrass jam session on Sunday night is a thing to behold. Tons of talent, cover the age spectrum of performers, totally free to watch. Welcoming crowd. Can get packed in. Enjoyable experience.

Awesome Awesome Awesome change of scene from the honky tonks. The free bluegrass show on Sunday was the perfect way to wind down from our long weekend in Nashville. Not many food choices so dont go hungry but do go expecting to hear some great music!

Amazing live music experience. Cant sing many praises about the food, but that isnt why you go to The Station Inn. We saw Twelve Mile, a band out of Boston. SO pleasant. Next time Im in Nashville, Ill make a priority to go there again.

We have been twice. Once on a Sunday when they have their weekly jam-sessions. Musicians just walk in and start to play along. Our second time was a concert of Roland White. Very relaxed atmosphere, all the musicians seem to know each other. Cash only at the door and at the bar. They have some snacks but its probably better to have eaten before you come here for a show.

Im from a small town 3 hours north of Toronto, Ontario, Canada. I have always wanted to visit the Station Inn. This year was going to be the year, but COVID really put the stops on travel. Our borders are closed. I really appreciate the live streams of bluegrass. It has been my only live music Ive been able to see. Hoping for a better year next year and visiting Nashville and the Station Inn. Once again, I really appreciate the live bluegrass streams.

This is an amazing little concert joint that is perfect for watching bluegrass. Parking can be an issue but a pay lot wont cost you more than $12. Plenty of great restaurants close by or you can grab a beer and some popcorn at the Station Inn You must visit at least once.

I loved it. The atmosphere, the beer, the music, the 92-year-old woman who got up to dance around the room. If youre looking for an authentic Nashville scene, definitely check them out.

This was a wonderful venue and the band was fantastic! It was one of the first concerts that I didnt need to wear ear plugs at. Great quality sound system. And there was popcorn and beer available for purchase.

Great folk, bluegrass, Americana music, the only venue of its kind in Nashville. The Station Inn has survived everything even a pandemic. Theres is still a bar feel and the seats are really uncomfortable, but the music and thats what matters... its amazing

This venue was sold out - twice in one night.From what I could tell, this place attracts talented musicians, simply by paying an obvious cover charge. However, the venue itself looked a little dumpy and could clearly away more eager audience members if they would update. A win for both the establishment and audience. I’m all about the “dive bar look”, but not when it sacrifices turning music lovers away because you haven’t updated. Increase your cover and make it nice. We had to settle on a free venue across the street which was updated and accommodated an eager audience.

Honestly can’t iterate enough how amazing the management is here. They are very welcoming and kind right when you walk in to the moment you walk out the door! Can’t wait to go back!
