Best jazz bar/restaurant on Frenchmen St! It has no cover charge, no minimum drink order, no minimum age, and no service fees. The jazz music played sounded amazing, but was not so loud to overwhelm. We still enjoyed conversation while the music played. We brought our kids and had a nice family jazz music night. The food menu is limited, but most people come here for drinks and music. It’s a great place.
One of the Frenchman Street greats! Definitely swing by here and catch some of the bands. You can get the latest list from WWOZ. They’ve got great food here, and plenty of seating. You can sit by the bar, sit at some high tables or booths near the band, or an entire upstairs section if you’re looking to get away for something, a little quieter or a little more intimate. Bartenders and staff are friendly, the bands are always good and plentiful. Don’t miss it!
Pros: Great food, great music and great ambiance! Cons: Paid $25 for a table (directly from their website) that said music would be from 7-830. There was no option that I saw to book a table without the fee. The band went on break at 7 and finished before 830. The break was short but still frustrating to pay a premium when it didn’t seem to align with the timing. I do understand that live music schedules can be difficult to nail down though so I don’t really hold it against anyone. I did have a great time but thought that was worth mentioning. The pricing of food and drink was fine, though!
You cant leave New Orleans without experiencing Frenchmen street. And it was unforgettable. I can’t remember the bands name that played Friday late in the day but it was great. Really laid back vibe. Had an Old Fashion and a Sazerac. And just hung out for a bit to listen and chill out after a long day of walking. And don’t forget to tip the band!
We came for the 1st time and the atmosphere was nice. The live music was incredible. However, the bartender Katie J told us our 2 drinks were drinks were $22 together, but when the check came it showed $24. The itemized receipt showed the drinks were $10/ ea and she added gratuity. How rude is it to add your own tip and then give yourself an extra 2 dollars for mediocre service. Just beware. The 30/ 90 next door had better service and cheaper drinks.
Went last night for Dinner and Jazz. Paid in advance to reserve a table but they didnt really seem to care about the reservation at the door. We did get a table, but thats because it wasnt very busy, so Id just chance it honestly and save yourself $40. Once seated we waited forever to be greeted by a server, so long that the original door guy came over and apologized for the wait and kept telling the waitresses that we had been waiting a while. The waitress who was supposed to take care of us didnt acknowledge us once and seemed completely lost. Eventually another server greeted us and explained that our initial server was overwhelmed and took our order. After that it was fine, drinks were good and came quickly. The food however was meh...the fries are so salty which is a shame because they would have tasted great otherwise. The band was pretty good but not much soul in the performance. Overall I wouldnt return, way better venues with better service, food and more soulful bands.
We saw the Opulence Hour Burlesque Show here! Up on the 3rd floor. The ladies were amazing, the level of talent was really high, with fun, interactive and inventive acts. Highly recommend! As for the downstairs area, we only went through on our way out, but the band was good, and it seemed like a comfortable place to hang out
The food was dry, not that flavorful. We had to pay for a table ahead of time due to “limited seating”, but it was almost empty. The band was obnoxious, kept saying “for part 2 of this song please give us money. A dollar a day keeps a musician alive” one of the members literally went from table to table asking for money. They played variations of pretty much the same song. The waitress was nice. Overall seems like a tourist trap.
We skipped Bourbon St. to walk Frenchman and it was worth it. The Maison was a nice spot, we sat in the back away from the crowd and had some good drinks with nice music! I’d definitely return and try the food. It was weird there were attendees in the bathroom wanting tips for handing you a paper towel but that might be normal there. It was also interesting I got carded twice, once at the door and again at the bar. I suppose you can never be too safe.
Completely amazing venue for live music and drinks! We managed to catch The Smoking Time Jazz Club with Norbert Susemihl on the trumpet, Shot Gun Jazz Band featuring Ronell Johnson and Sunny Side Jazz Band who were brilliant and so entertaining! We stayed directly opposite, so were treated to a variety of music from Maison and other venues down the street throughout our stay. Maison is a must if you visit NOLA!
Great spot to listen to music and enjoy live jazz. We enjoyed our cocktails and the service was great. I got the Wandering Jasmine which was a great gin cocktail I could have drank all day. He got a Port Orleans which he also enjoyed. This place has many of their own infused liquors too which would be fun to try. We only drank here so no comments on the food but loved the drinks and music.
Ever felt like you should pay for things you did not order? If yes, then this is the place for you!If you also want to forcibly tip an additional 20% for things you did not ask for, then look no further! The bartender made us the wrong drink, added an extra 15$ drink after completely mishearing us, and then proceeded to argue with us that what he heard must have been right (and not what the four of us heard/said - a pair of ears is better than four I guess). With the default 20% tip, theres no need to listen to customers anymore.Oh, and if you want soap in the bathroom, be prepared to tip there as well. Pick literally any other bar on Frenchman street.
Came here after walking the French quarter for an hour. Drinks were plentiful and the live music was the business. As expected the vibes are great, view of the stage is great anywhere you sit and the back area for more quiet visit in the back. 5 stars would party here again.
The result of placing a compulsory ( is that legal ) service charge of 20% is that the service doesn’t count anymoreFood 100% , jaz band 100% waitress unbelievably rude.Left straight after our meal and drink. To much to go into but not a great experience where it could have been so good
My favorite place for live music when we were in NOLA. The bands were great and the drinks were on point!! It also feels spacious and not cramped unlike some other places. Would def be back.
Good food, but we ordered two different appetizers, they brought us two of the same thing. Tip was automatically added to the the bill and they also added a tip when we bought a t-shirt. The music was awesome.
The band we got to see was great. The food was good. The server was likely overworked and as a result a bit surly (im going to blame management, and the roach in the bathroom was huge and looked way too well fed so definitely blaming the management)One item of note here. They have a drink per set requirement. Which in and of itself isnt an issue. However, if you come in at the last 2 songs of the 1st gig, order a round of drinks and food for everyone only to have the server come over and bark that more drinks need to be bought due to this rule (as the next band is setting up), you may be tempted to want to let others know, as I am doing now.Ps the folks I was with all think 4 stars was generous.
Great music, nice atmosphere, but if you want to eat, drink and see the band, you have to pay to reserve a table through their website (which I did). We arrived on time, and unfortunately all of the reserved tables were full. So even though wed reserved, we ended up sitting around outside for quite a while waiting for someone to leave. Otherwise, food was fine, band was great.
The Maison definitely has great live music. We came here two nights in a row and both bands we enjoyed. The drinks are stupid expensive and there is an automatic 20% gratuity added. I don’t suggest getting anything at the bar. Just go for the music.
We were told that we had to listen to live bands in New Orleans and this place had great talent on Sunday night. There was no cover charge but they do encourage tipping the band. The MC was very interactive and kept the crowd engaged. They did plenty of line dancing.
This is where locals go for (jazz+) music, burlesque, and drag. Youll really enjoy the handcrafted cocktails made with quality ingredients and the delicious food. Its clear that the business owners understand New Orleans! The music is absolutely amazing and the space is set up nicely so youll hear well from wherever you are. You can reserve tables in advance (online 24 hours in advance or by phone anytime). Service is excellent and prices are reasonable but note the 20% service charge added to each order (why not just increase prices by 20%?) and spend some time wondering if youre supposed to tip or not (I did -about 10% of the pre-charge, pre-tax price).
One of the best live music experiences weve had in NOLA. The band was just amazing. You can also count on great cocktails but note that the 20% tip is already included. Definitely Fremchmen Street beats Bourbon St. area - the music is better, its less crowded and definitely feels less like a tourist trap.
This was great for dinner and music. We did book online as was Sat night but there were tables available through the evening for walk ins. Booking cost was 20$. Short menu but gumbo fries, Cajun fries were tasty. The bread pudding was delicious! Drinks were good too. You dont have to order food to listen to jazz (which was excellent) but minimum one drink per person per set.
Venue and music was great, but food was bad and I waited an hour for average mac and cheese. Drinks took 30 minutes to come out, too. It seemed like there were only 1-2 people on the waitstaff.
When on vacation in New Orleans we were told the best live jazz is on Frenchman Street. We stumbled across The Maison and were very happy with the quality of the music and the venue, it was a lot of fun to watch performers play there. The food was decent venue food, but nothing special compared to some of the other places in the area.If you want to see some live jazz music, I encourage you to check it out.
We had a great time at Maison. The food was wonderful and the live music was the best we experienced while visiting NOLA. Im not sure we needed the reservation for 530 on a Sunday, but the time we had was worth it.
Great live music. Red beans and rice with gator sausage was great. Really good drinks as well. Loved the service.
Great music! We ordered from the bar and the bartender was friendly and fun. The tip was included in the bill but as this was not mentioned and as we didnt check, we tipped on top of this. The mac and cheese was delish!!
Server was inattentive (they add a standard charge to your tap, you must tip even if service is not good) and we paid the cover charge to reserve seats, it was an expensive evening for average quality. Music was good 👍
Its an okay bar. They bring decent shows there. The worst is the bathroom attendant. Hes a nice guy, but unnecessary. All of his wares makes a crowded space. The bartenders seem overwhelmed and ignore the next up concept. Or they are a bunch of racists. I am not a big drinker so when I am overlooked at a 1 drink minimum place I am winning. So, there is that. I would only go here if there is a band you want to hear.
Wonderful music and great drinks. They always have great bands playing here. The ambiance is really good, the staff is friendly and the place has a wonderful energy about it that makes you feel that they are serious about the music and the bands that they have here.Go here for the music and the drinks but not really for the food. The food is alright. Fries were nice though so stick to bar food!
Extortion!! Why does the soap need to be given by an attendant? Why does the paper towel be guarded by an attendant? Its crazy you need to tip for basic hygiene!!We ordered two Bloody Marys but when the check was due we were surprised by the additional charge for a stronger drink. Whats crazy is we didnt ask for a stronger drink! The music is great but youll be fleeced for having a good taste in music. Would not recommend!
So incredibly happy that we were able to come to this Great establishment. The Maison had some of the most talented singers and bands in New Orleans. Last night we caught Sierra Green and the Soul Machine. Man this group so great. For a Monday the place was so lively. They also have a full bar and serve food as well but I believe the kitchen [email protected].. Its also pretty spacious, seating along side the front area and extra in the back if you dont want to be in the mix or front and center. If you come to visit this colorful city stop by the Maison you wont regret it.
Great little club. We went on a super busy night for a late jazzfest event. We’re still able to get drinks at the bar.Upstairs VIP was nice to be able to look down on the dance floor and to easily get to water container. But other than that we mostly stayed downstairs and didn’t get in much faster (if you’re wondering whether it’s worth VIP tickets). No seating at all really (at least not upstairs in VIP area that night).
Great live music, with a great rotation of different bands! Great service, affordable drinks and it was easy to find seats! Location is definitely prime! Walkable to several other bars, Willies fried chicken joint & the night market!
Nice atmosphere to have a cocktail and listen to music great place. We had Bella S as our server she was very friendly and professional
Band fantastic, good beer at reasonable price. Only 3* review because of creepy guy in restroom trying to extort money for washing my hands. Yuck!!!
Live music, drinks, appetizers, excellent service, and everything you could ask for. This place is absolutely amazing, I had a great time. I was specially happy because they were able to accommodate a table of 8 which was mission impossible in other 5 restaurants within the same few blocks. The musicians were incredibly talented and kept the crowd well entertained.
Have been to this spot as well as almost all of the spots on Frenchmen street multiple times. This place consistently seems to always be my favorite club on Frenchmen. The music is always good no matter who is playing and you can feel the soul with the sound of what a New Orleans music club should have. Even when it’s busy getting drinks at the bar isn’t as difficult or take as long as it should; the bartenders are always adept at taking a mental note when you walk up and come to you or acknowledge you even if they can’t take your order at that given moment. Drinks are better priced than some of its neighbors such as Bamboulas and has one of the better ambiance’s on Frenchmen, it always seems to be the proper lighting compared to other clubs in the area. Pro-Tip: check out an early daytime show here, it is a good change of pace to actually check out some of the offers The Maison has such as their specialty cocktails or some food off of their menu. I would recommend trying one of their Bloody Mary’s if you go during the day, it will be one of the most ridiculously overstuffed and delicious Bloody Mary’s you will have in your life.
I love this place .. we had spent the prior evening in the French Quarter and our Uber driver told us about the French Market district around Frenchman street. It did not disappoint. This area seems like more of a locals scene and there are some other jazz bars and restaurants so plenty to see. The food there was fantastic ... I couldnt help the lighting but I had the penne shrimp Alfredo and it was so so good. My hubby had this massive po boy which also was amazing. The music here was wonderful as the group playing mixed it up with jazz and some old rock and roll.
Ah, New Orleans! This is a great club. The cocktail I had was outstanding - the bartender even gave me the recipe. On the evening I was there the first two bands happened to be early jazz, one excellent, the other very good. I didn’t stay for the later sets so don’t know what the music was, but I hear it varies.Someone ordered a Bloody Mary and it looked like a salad - fabulous! Highly recommend this place. There was a one drink minimum per set.
Great music from local musicians, amazing selection if liquor, beer, wine, and cocktails, and some decent food to boot. The service are amazingly nice and have practiced the art of taking orders while full volume concert is going on. There are a lot of choices to music around it, but I felt happy choosing to spend a night here with a 1920s style brass/big band.
The band was OUTSTANDING! If you’re looking for good live music and fun, this is the spot! Highly recommend!
My recent visit to Maison left much to be desired. Despite ordering a burger without a bun and requesting it to be served on a bed of lettuce with mayonnaise, I was surprised to find an additional charge for condiments. Apparently, asking for basic condiments like lettuce and mayonnaise warrants an extra fee, which I found to be both unnecessary and exorbitant. The overall experience was underwhelming, with the quality of service not justifying the inflated prices. The lack of transparency in pricing and the nickel-and-diming approach to condiments left a sour taste in my mouth.I expected better from Maison, but unfortunately, this experience fell short of my expectations. For those seeking a satisfying dining experience without feeling like theyre being taken advantage of I would recommend exploring other options in the area.
I cannot express enough my frustration and disappointment with my recent experience at Maison. We made a reservation well in advance for a special occasion, only to arrive and be told that they dont even accept reservations. Not only did they take ur reservation, but they also took a deposit, which they later claimed was a mistake. This level of incompetence is unacceptable.Furthermore, the lack of basic amenities and professionalism was appalling. Upon entering the restroom, we were greeted by a bathroom attendant who had set up a makeshift table in front of and blocking, a handicap stall, adored with her cheap jewelry. To add insult to injury, we were forced to tip her just to access something as basic as a hand towel to dry our hands. The blatant disregard for customer service and the deceptive practices exhibited by Maison reflect poorly on their establishment. I would caution anyone considering patronizing this bar to think twice before doing so. Save yourself the frustration and seek out establishments that prioritize honesty, respect, and proper service.
Experience not great, truthfully. We paid to reserve a table for 10 - it was in the back of the place and not close to the music at all.The worst part is that the service was substandard. Two of us have been there several times and always had a great experience with food, music and service.Something has changed.
The Maison is located on Frenchmen street where there are many clubs play live music. The Maison caught our attention and kept it for the whole evening during our dinner. The service was great and we even got compd our app due to long wait times. Nonetheless the food was good and the music was better. Great night life scene!
One of those situations where a single person just ruins the experience. The bands were great as well as the waitress, but the hostess was not helpful at all. It was my father in laws birthday and we just asked to be sited somewhere else, no options were given. Even though it was a slow night at the bar. We asked twice the lady, but everytime we were just treated worse (and worst). What a pitty.Monday evening Jan 29th just to note.
This was a nice place to hang out for a late friday afternoon/early evening. We came around 5 and were seated right away. There were a few people at the bar and only two other tables with customers. We were able to be seated in the middle section which has the best view of the stage. It filled up pretty quickly after we arrived. There was a band playing when we got there which was fun. I got a flight of beer and my partner got a beer. These were reasonably priced and tasty. A second band came on after a while and they were great. I liked how chill it was when we arrived, and how it progressively became more lively the more people came. After my flight of beer I got a Bloody Mary which was absolutely amazing! One of the best I’ve had. We also ordered crawfish bites that were basically hush puppies. Those were so good, especially after having a couple drinks. Our server was nice and checked on us often even though I could tell she was juggling a bunch of tables. I will definitely be back next time I’m in NOLA.
I needed to burn some time while I waited on family. The great music drew me in. The food was OK. Drinks, well done! I ate alone, so I was surprised to see a 20% tip added.
Very nice place to see a show. The only downsides are that he way the tables are laid out can make it a little crowded at the bar or standing to watch the musicians. Also, The speakers are right above the bar, and its exceptionally loud to sit there while a band is playing. However, its a pretty standard but nice venue for Frenchmen. Huge beer selection and good prices on all drinks. The place looks nice, and the service was good. Would definitely see a show here again!
Very good music, no cover charge, very reasonable drinks prices!
Great live jazz music. The set up of the venue made it felt livelier and the food/drinks were top notch. No cons to call out. Would recommend this place to anyone who wants to listen to live jazz and enjoy a night out.
Excellent performances... staff and drinks were on point!! Prices also good. Went on a Sunday.. seats were available at the bar and tables.
This place had the best Jazz performance. It was New years eve and you can sit here with a warm cocktail and enjoy one of the best jazz performances in all over US.
Cool place for some wings, beer, and live music. The wings were exceptional, big and meaty. The fries were excellent, too.If youre like me, and your French Quarter stops have to have live music (why else would you go there, you can drink anywhere), put this place on your list.
Kermit and I ended up going here a few Sunday’s ago to see Herlin Riley during Nickel-A-Dance. Once I arrived at the bar I wanted to purchase a drink; However, the barmaid acted as if shes not aware of an ID. I presented her w| my passport ID card and she would not allow me to purchase a drink. Clearly she doesnt own a passport or is just ignorant of different forms of IDs. We enjoyed Herlin, Kermit played a song and everything was decent-- except that incident.
You’ll be hard-pressed to find a better jazz bar in town.FoodI had the holy trinity, which is a cup of rice & beans, a cup gumbo, and a cup of jambalaya. The portions were small and it didn’t feel like quite enough food. Out of the trinity, I like jambalaya the best. I think you’re better off coming here for the drinks and music.DrinksDecent variety. Bartender in the back is great. Might as well kick back and enjoy the champagne of beers.MusicIncredible. The place carries the sound well and it all feels lively.Recommend?Definitely worth checking out.
Loved this place! My husband and I were searching for good live music on Frenchman Street. We originally went to the Three Muses for dinner and music but were dissappointed because we wanted Dixieland jazz and we got country. This place made up for what we lacked at dinner immensely! The band was AMAZING, we ended up buying both of their CDs. The drinks and staff were good. We wished we just came here to eat as well because the food looked good. We will definitely be doing that when we come back! Also, theres no cover so they ask that you tip the bands instead. Go, you wont regret it!!
Best Vieux Carre I’ve had on my quick weekend in NO. Better than Carousel Bar 100%. Go to Juan’s bar in the back. Fire drinks.
Unbelievably good live music. Wow! Will come again!
Had a swinging good time here with the love music and delicious food. We very much enjoyed the crawfish bites and shrimp po boy. The band alone and wonderful ambiance made it worth the trip.
Went on a Monday night, nice place, Great Band, SnowBazzs or something like that, NOLA Jazz band music level just right, not so loud everyone on Frenchman had to hear.
RUN - don’t walk - to see the Wig Snatchers drag show! It was so, so good! This was one of the best drag shows I’ve seen - the queens we’re beautiful, energetic, talented, engaging, funny, and so welcoming. It’s a great show for both first timers and fans of drag. The show was in the Penthouse, and there was no bad seat in the house - the music was fantastic, and the queens worked every angle, nook, and cranny of the room. I can’t say this enough - topnotch, professional production!Go on out and support local drag! You won’t be disappointed!
The place is welcoming and friendly. We sat at the bar and had a really great service. The cocktails were fantastique! Its worth the 20% tip automatic charge on the bill! Music and band were also a great win.
Both times I went here it had the best music on Frenchman.
One Red Bull and vodka and one margarita. $27. Huge ripoff. I was pressured to tip the band about 5 minutes after walking in. Not a great atmosphere either.Edit to reply to the response: I understand adjusting to the tourism market prices. I just wouldn’t expect locals to be okay with what some people would call overcharging. I know at least one person I was next to was shocked after seeing their bill as well. I’ve been to many bars in the french quarter and haven’t had that big of a sticker shock yet. I wasn’t forced, but I’m glad I closed out immediately after ordering the first round.
I went there with a friend Thursday night the day after the Beyoncè concert and it was jamming! That band was awesome everybody was swaying or dancing. The drink prices were reasonable too.
Went there twice to have a drink and listen to music. Those were great, but on our 6 day visit, this was the most expensive beverages by far.
Superjam was super fun! Had a good time at this bar.
Went Sunday night had an amazing time. Thought wed bring the family out, group of 7 and some older folks looking to just take a seat, while all the other tables took the chairs that should have been at our table, staff couldnt even provide customer service so we proactively grabbed chairs ourselves to be rudely approached that we couldnt sit on these chairs and tables and that they had to be put back. While we kindly asked why, management was unable to provide an answer and started to give us attitude and being disrespectful to the point of kicking us out. Havent even bought a drink yet at that point. Reached out to the management team off Google to be told we were wrong we should this and that while their business cannot take ownership of their bad communication. Even contradicted their statement of having all the tables and chairs cleared when clearly we were next to another table that had 5 people sitting there which included one of the chairs that would have been for our table. Continued to provide excuses as if we should know how their business runs. We felt as if they get off on their power trips to customers they dont care to serve. Whoever was responding to my note of disappointment completely disregard they context of what happen and chose to blame the customer.
Super fun, good food, great service, great music and you don’t need to be over 21 to enter so we could go as a family. Highly recommend, way better than the noise and crowd at Bourbon street.
Love the Bands and the location!! Bartenders were how can I say it, they all sucked!! They acted like they didnt want to be there, and didnt want us to be there. We left a good band because of them. Get another job Bartenders. You know who you are.
Food&drink prices could get out of hand and $20.00 just to reserve a table.
Went several nights and all bands were super cool !
This place was awesome. Between the handsome bartender with the dimples making great drinks, the security at the door (uncle Phil) made the experience top tier! Highly recommend!!!!!
We were told we needed to give up our table because they had reservations that they needed to sit them. We were consuming food and drinks and wanted to order more food but basically they told us they didn’t care. They did the same thing to 2 other tables because hostess said it was a big party and the needed the 3 tables. I was in shock I have never had a restaurant tell us we needed to get up because they needed the table.
My friends and I love Latin night. We specifically look for places that play Latin music. The Maison is typically a great spot when they actually have Latin night. This past weekend, it was scheduled for Friday night, and when we got there. We were told it wasnt happening. I understand that unprecedented things happen, but as a club they couldve had a replacement, or couldve updated their website if they had a timely warning. Otherwise, its a great, fun place to hang out.
The live music was amazing! Unfortunately, that was the only positive of our experience here. The service was slow, and the food was bland. It was shocking how little flavor it had, especially considering all of the positive reviews. Luckily, we were able to find some flavorful Cajun food before our trip ended.
Awesome live music, great mushroom sandwich, rice and beans and gumbo. Don’t bother w the mac or cheese fries (wait until you’re in Wisconsin for that). Cocktails were more miss than hit, so maybe stick to beers. Overall awesome night though!
Live music at 2 in the afternoon? Love it. Bags were great, drinks were great, friendly service. Also one of the few places my son could get into on Frenchman Street being under 21.
The live music is great, but we were told that if we wanted to see the next band, wed have to order another round, after we had just ordered a second round and we ate. The food was ok, but nothing special.
Good music. Rude woman maître d on Thursday nights though.
To be fair, the music is good and so is the food. The problem with the place, which I havent been to in a while until last night, is the bathroom extortion where a guy sits in there with a tip basket and squirts some soap in your hand and gives you one sheet of flimsy paper. I find this creepy and uncomfortable. Also, a 20 percent tip is automatically added to your check no matter if you are a one top or six top. I know the automatic tip is custom in many places for large groups but not for two tops etc . Though I usually tip 20 percent anyway I would like to have the option to tip less if service is bad( which is wasnt that night) . We wont go back .
Music is great. Food and service is mediocre.
Very good drinks with good prices, definitely dont miss the live jazz music and chuld friendly
Fun jazz. Enjoyed the atmosphere. The table teetered when anyone walked by cause the floor deformed, which was an interesting characteristic. The Sazerac I had was a little heavy on the anise. Despite all that it was a joy to take in some jazz.
Great music; aggressively rude staff. Mediocre food on a food night. There are better music venues on Frenchman St - go to one of them
The atmosphere is great. That’s what got me in here. Drinks are also wonderful too, but I agree with some other reviewers that the food probably isn’t the best. I had my first ever gumbo and jambalaya and hope there are better places for them elsewhere.
Terrible NYE experience. Event started at 10pm and the bar and band were still not ready. 10-10:30 the opening act warmed up, it was like listening to a HS marching band warmup. 10:30-11 the opening band played. 11:00-11:30 the main act warmed up, complete with the endless sound checks. 1130 the main act started playing but vocals were off and just not mixed well. Left before midnight to find a better spot. Very disappointed. A start this late should have sound checks complete and ready to go
This is a nice place to see a great local band especially on Thursday. It was very busy when I got there with mostly tourists but its on Frenchman so its expected. There is plenty of space for dancing. The bartenders were nice and as fast as they could be considering it was packed. My only complaint is the drinks were so expensive. I ordered a double Kettle and Cranberry thinking I would get at least a small discount for the double but no it was $22 and not as strong as it should have been in a small plastic cup. I ordered 1 more single after that and a different bartender made it. The single was exactly the same as the double for $11 next time I know to order a single lol you live and learn I guess.
Great place for live music. Drink prices are high (but no higher than anywhere else)
Great music but lousy service. After we just finishing our first drink we had to buy another drink or leave immediately. There are much mire relaxed bars around.
Fun place to be! Great bands and atmosphere.
This was our second trip, five years apart! Enjoyed it this time as much as we did the first time. Great music, good appetizers and drinks
Music- was wonderful. People were dancing and it made me feel welcome to try dancing, myself! I walked away from my drink at the bar to dance and came back within the same minute and they’d thrown my completely full drink away. When asking the bar tender about it, she was extremely rude and told me I can’t walk away from my drink. She told me people in the bar would have drugged it and refused to replace it.I left very upset. This bartender avoided me over and over again within the hour I’d spent there- taking the orders of folks around me and ignoring my searching eyes.So bummed she just threw away my drink- my money and investment in a good time
Great place to stop in even on a sunday night! There was plenty of seating and plenty of music! Take a walk down the street for a little outdoor market and late night hawt dawgs
Music amazing, but service was terrible. I waited an hour for a burger and that was after my family was serviced an hour prior. In addition, I guess they didnt get the memo that Covid is a thing and some lady was holding soap in the bathroom hostage unless you give her $. Skip it, dont waste your time.
Enjoyed our visit. The band was very good and the the seating is good. The service was good in spite of them seeming bit short-staffed.The only drawback was the that kitchen was closed, so there was no food, not even packets of chips to be had. But they had a notice on the front door, so no surprises. It was drinks only, which was difficult to sustain. Should be a temporary situation though, till they get up and running fully.
Great place to listen to live music. No cover charge. We got a seat at 7:30 on a Friday night. Many people had reservations. There is a car you can sit at, but with limited view of band. We saw swing orchestra which was an 8 piece band playing music from 1920-1950.Food is served. We had great service. One drink minimum per person per set. Prices are reasonable.
A little less wild then your typical bourbon street insanity. The Maison has a fun atmosphere and good drinks. Come here if youre looking for some good jazz. The food wasnt anything amazing to write home about, just good bar bites. Overall, worth the drop in 👍
Great music venue away from the crowd on Bourbon Street. Drinks were delicious and service was great. Music is top notch. Try the Mac and cheese, so good!
As a retired local hospitality culinary concierge industry professional, personally and professionally, if you want a taste of new orleans and feel like a local, listen to authentic local live music, order up some culinary treats and DRINK!
The music was doooooope!!! We were here for our friends wedding after party, and we LOVE their live jazz so much!!! It was my happiest 3 hours in Nola ❤️
Good time live band was great!
Make sure to make a reservation to ensure seats in front of the stage!Food we ordered as of 3/2022:- Last Mango in Paris - $16 - Mixed field greens, creole tomatoes, goat cheese, mango salsa and toasted pecans. If any of those ingredients sound good to you then definitely order it! We enjoyed it and the portion size is enough for 2 to share.- Cheeseburger Po Boy - $17 - Not bad but nothing spectacular. The menu here isnt expansive and so youre really here to have dinner and enjoy a show. Make sure to check out the calendar on their website to see whos playing!
My go-to place on Frenchmen for a happy hour drink... Even though they dont really have a happy hour.
We ended up staying here for quite a few hours. The music was so so good and we were fortunate enough to grab a front seat table. We saw two bands that were amazing. People were swing dancing all night long. Loved it!
Great place that actually played Jazz! They have a nice roster of rotating bands and individuals that come through to play live music and it was a refreshing change from the crazy rock and hip hop clubs on that *other* street.Food was good as well, we had no complaints there and it was priced in line with any other sit down place in the area. But youre definitely coming here for the atmosphere and the music first and the food second.
Great place to listen to some live music! The performers the night we went were awesome and seemed like they were prepared to go to the sun came up. Drinks were pretty good and not too much. Definitely will be back
Great music, not great food and inattentive service. Mandatory 20% tip is overpriced for the food and service.
