The absolute, bar none, best of the best. First place I demanded to go, and just like last time, did not disappoint. Everything in the Hand Grenade blends together perfectly, you literally cant get enough. I really need to go to the website and order the ingredients, and try to make them at home, but that would take away from the special experience, so I have to leave this legend where it was born, New Orleans.
New Orleans is known for their “Hand Grenade” cocktail whether it’s frozen or on the rocks. You can find that here at Tropicale Isle! I myself hated the cocktail it’s OVERLY TOO SWEET! I rather drink The Shark every single time! If you’re Colombian it tastes exactly like a Kola Postobon 😝Jarred the bartender was the best! They have live band from time to time and their music is a great vibe. Mainly people just pass by to get their Hand Grenade cocktail and out and about as you can drink all over the street of New Orleans.Highly Recommended!
The bartender must not be trained. Tropical Isle is a go-to when on Bourbon St. However, I do not frequent this particular location. When I asked for a long island the bartender kept trying to talk me into a premixed drink. I had to make several requests for a long island. When I turned to talk with a friend he finally made my drink. After paying and tipping him I took a sip of my drink. He served me a FULL cup of sour mix. It instantly turned my stomach. I tried to speak with him. He became verbally disrespectful and dismissed me. He should be retrained.
Stopped here in passing and ended up staying a little longer then we had expected. The grenade drinks were nice and tasty! Lots of cool decorations all over the place. For sure would recommend you stop into this place if you are in the area, dont think you will be upset at all! They also have mostly any other drink you may need.
I read about a famous drink called the shark attack, which isn’t just a drink but an experience! I’m not going to ruin it for you, but it’s hilarious! Is it kitschy? Yes? Is it fun? Absolutely!! But I think it’s because our bartender, Devan was spectacular! He absolutely loves his job and you can tell! So much enthusiasm, super chill, talks to everyone. Super friendly. I cannot overstate the awesomeness that is Devan! We just loved him! There are several locations, but this was by far the coolest and best decorated. Best ambiance. Lots of goofy things hanging from the ceiling.
Came for a hand grenade and it didn’t disappoint! Our bartender was the sweetest! I didn’t catch his name (black man with a grill). We would definitely come again.
Sunday, I was highly disappointed with my hand grenade from the popular tropical isle. I dont understand the hype for this drink. I tried it on the rocks - no buzz. My man tried it as a slushy - no buzz. I didnt really enjoy the taste of it either. Im not a picky person, but I honestly regret this purchase. I believe it was $12 each and $10 for refills (which we did not use). The host was pleasant and straight to the point. There is nothing much to say about her service. We were in and out of there in less than 5 minutes. I would encourage folks to try other daiquiri locations with better tasting options.
There’s a a lot of these on bourbon street but THIS specific location is the one I love the most!!!! I legit pass up all tropical isles to get to this one! The hand grenade is so good! This is my go to spot on bourbon frfr! The band is cool too!
When u come to New Orleans u gotta come here!!! Cause If u not? THEN WHAT ARE DOING!? These drinks here ! These drinks HERE!!!!Lord where do I start 😭😭😭😭 I am a child of the king but this drink happens to make me forget that I got home training 🤦🏾♀️🥴 got me yelling in the street singing Miley Cyrus “GOT MY HANDS UP AND PLAYING MY SONG”😭😭😭😭
Great music. Big Al Carson and the gang are incredible musicians thatll make you forget about the drinks and enjoy some good tunes. With that said, the hand grenades are delicious but they are sneaky strong. Im not a huge fan of sweet drinks but they definitely got their mix down. So down that you can even buy the mix from them. The salty popcorn they pass out might help balance the sweetness.Bartenders were friendly and attentive and Big Al called me up to collect tips for him from the patrons. This was a fun experience I jumped up to (likely thanks to the hand grenade I was working on). Thanks for the hospitality and great experience!
Great drinks and quick service!Stepped in during the early part of the evening before the night rush. Wanted to try the hand grenade because I heard it was was strong and tasty.Tasty, it was, but didn’t live up to the strength. However, the sheer size of the drink could also have something to do with the potency as it seemed like it was a couple drinks in one.Love the presentation and the little plastic grenades you can shoot up into the nets above like a little basketball game! The bartender we had was very cool. Shooting with us and having a quick convo before working againA nice little stop for some mid bourbon street walk drinksGreat job overall!Follow me on IG @thirst_and_taste for better pics, vids and more amazing content
Had a great time here. The views were great off the balcony and the pool table was fairly priced. The hand grenades are also really good and fairly priced.
This was my favorite bar we stopped at in bourbon Street! Laid back atmosphere, live music downstairs, chill vibe upstairs, not too loud, but still a lot of fun. The bartender was such a nice guy too, which is what makes or breaks a place in my opinion, so big props to him!
A night out on Bourbon street doesnt seem complete without the iconic hand grenade. The friendly bartender briefly explained that the frozen grenade could be sipped on for a longer time, although getting it on the rocks would have the most potent effect. The larger size came with the exciting perk of a discounted refill at any other Tropical Isle location. My grenade on the rocks was strong as expected. Stop over while you explore the area.
Not that big a place can get very crowded but the bartenders still seem to get to ya in a timely fashion. I can also see why they say New Orleans strongest drink lol.... Those hand grenades are no joke.. I was averaging about 3 a night (3days) and luckily never woke up hungover. Even has some fun bathroom games lol. The grenade is really really sweet though
We loved our time here. Bartenders were awesome, loved the band. We both had a blast. Ty
Wow a super fun place and very very strong drinks! I highly recommend the Hand Grenade drink that they offer but make sure to get it on the rocks, frozen just seemed to sweet and not as good. Next time I visit I will try the shark attack drink as the bartender told us that is another very popular drink they have! This is a super fun place and a great place to get a strong but tasty drink!
We visited during French Quarter Fest. Drinks were good, and the service was great. The band was excellent. The place was lively and fun.
Fyi - this started as a 4 star review until I walked into the hallway..If youre traveling the French Quarter, you need to drop in for a hand gernade..Staff and bartender was very friendly..It wasnt until I had to use the bathroom that I discovered that it smells like The mopped their hallway with urine.. the smell was so overwhelming that I almost threw up just walking into the hallway.. totally killed the vibe for everything.. flat out disgusting.. maybe hot water, and bleach and a mop next time.
Sounds crazy but this was our fav stop on Bourbon Street. First of all the guys at the bar were amazing. We ordered an off the menu drink, killed it! Band was amazing. Plus we got to watch everyone come in and order the Shark Attack. We didn’t have one but def worth watching others order one. We would come back here.
The NOLA experience. The staff here is really friendly, and the upstairs and balcony are a great way to take-in bourbon street! The hand grenade is good, but I’d recommend it on the rocks as it’s not so sweet. Definitely more potent than it tastes, lol. There’s a lot of dive bars in the area, and this one is nicer than most!
They handed me a hand grenade... and said be careful, Ive never had a bar tell me that... I thought they were trying to upsell their product. As Im sitting In a courtyard enjoying my beverage I could feel this drink course through my body, I had 3 throughout the night. And was gone. Barely made it back to my hotel room. So let me reiterate... BE CAREFUL 😆🍸🥴
A few of the bartenders here has a very nasty attitude, and they are overpriced (trying to stiff the tourist). I wont spent another dime here. The location on Bourbon and St. Ann across from Bourbon Orleans Hotel.
Tropical Ise is my spot in NOLA. Great atmosphere, friendly service & I love their house band.
I had a very bad experience at this place and would strongly recommend against going here. As other reviews suggest, there are some serious issues with the bouncers here. They denied entry to my girlfriend who had a valid passport and quickly resorted to violently removing her from the bar instead of attempting to explain the situation. We ended up having to get the police involved.I also have a valid ID and the bouncer scrutinized it for a suspiciously long time (literally about a minute), so I don’t doubt the other reviews suggesting sketchy activity with IDs.The bartender here was pretty reasonable and apologetic about the whole situation, but I’ll never go back here and would suggest going elsewhere.
Of course you can’t go to New Orleans without getting the “hand grenade” (5/5). Def a nice warm up drink to get the night started. Cute place where even on Mardi Gras weekend we found some seats (trust me, your feet will need this break after being on Bourbon). If one Tropical Isle is busy, there seemed to be a few different ones on corners! Music was mid….fit the atmosphere of the place. The Shark attack drink was cute how it was made, but overall tasted pretty watered down (3/5). Went 2 of 4 nights!
One of the classic New Orleans party bars. Worth the stop in, for the experience. There are two locations, I was able to check out the one closer to Esplanade. Just like most of the party bars in New Orleans, there are a myriad of smells and weirdness you may not want to know about, or that may overwhelm you. Power through and get yourself a frozen drink, daiquiri as they are called. Tropical isle is famous for the hand grenade. It tastes like Mountain Dew fermented and did something terrible. Let me tell you, it is worth it. Not super expensive and you get a cheesy souvenir glass. Dont think of copying this drink, the owners aggressively protect the intellectual property of it, and let you know...
(as of 11/23/2020) - Its all about the original Hand Grenade, but unfortunately the sugary alcoholic drink is going to set you back quite a pretty penny. Great tourist trap but you should experience it once in your life. I wouldnt bet money on spending that much on a sugary drink again, not unless the streets and crowds are filled back up to normal.
If you go to New Orleans, then you must go here! Try their fun mixed drinks. Order a hand grenade, VERY POPULAR and delicious and also order the SHARK ATTACK. ITs a must and you will not regret it.. you will actually be VERY entertained . If you can get a spot on the balcony up top... sit there and enjoy people watching!
No one comes here because they actually like the taste of a grenade. Its more for the experience of walking down Bourbon street on a hot day, cold drink in hand. Its sickly sweet, but dont let it fool you. Its made of gin, grain alcohol, melon liqueur, rum, and rum, and will definitely give you a buzz.Tip - if you bring the cup back, you can get $9 refills (instead of paying $10)
Great place. Their hand Grenade is a must. They give you a toy with it and you can try to throw it. It should fall into a basket hanging from the ceiling. Their shark attach also looks pretty good. The hand Grenade is a secret recipe and wont tell which alcohol it is. They also have a live band. Great place with great energy!!
Bartenders are always great , polite, sweet, drinks are great , even the doorman / security men are great , funny ,and sweet
Stopped in for a hand grenade drink. Greeted a served immediately. Grenade drink was excellent and very cold. Drink tasted smooth and well mixed. Very relaxing atmosphere in the bar area. Great place to relax and hang out for a while.
Harald approves Nathalie and her granades to go! Best bar in NO and YT!
What an experience... Great live music and all those crazy grenade videos, just experience it yourself
AVOID AT ALL COSTS IF YOU’RE A TOURIST!!! Went this past weekend with my girlfriend and the bouncer pulled an ID scam on us, trying to get us to pay him $200+ to get our IDs back (we’re well over 30 years old). Wasn’t until an hour later that the cops showed up and forced the bouncer to give my ID back that we were able to leave. AVOID. LIKE. THE. PLAGUE.
Really cool beach vibe with friendly talkative bartenders. You can sit and chill in here with unique drinks for hours!
I heard raving reviews about this place from my friends who visited new Orelans.I was here on new years and loved this place !! The cool exterior. Super neony interior, with friendly people and great hosts. People we’re fighting over this drink. The hand grenade was strong and tasted good. I was definitely surprised by the taste. It had so much of ice and dint get me high as I thought it would. The hand grenade definitely lived upto it’s hype with its potent and the live vibrant music and atmosphere. We chugged through plenty of it and had a blast. Love the place !! Lived upto the hype
I have been to this location numerous times and have always had a great time. Unfortunately, last night was a completely different story, to the point where I felt the need to write a review. The bartender named Shelby, was very rude and disrespectful not only to me but other patrons that were around. She looked like she hated being at her work place all night. She denied service to me because the patrons around me were not tipping “good enough.” On top of this quote, she also said she was “tired of making lemon drop shots,” and refused to serve me because of what I wanted to order.Overall, I have had great service and a good time here, but there is always a bad apple that is in the batch. I hope management is able to see this and find a resolution to this problem.
The home of the hand grenade. One of the most famous drinks in all of NOLA. It was over 100 degrees and it helped cool me down. Love the theme and branding of the drink, it’s really cool and you see them everywhere. The inside of this place deff needs an update, it was run down with sticky floors. Not somewhere I’d want to stick around. Enjoyed grabbing my drink and getting out of there.
The service was not great and definitely left some bad memory in the trip
Visiting from Miami we had the best time tonight. I feel like there are Easter eggs all over this place. Mike was THE BEST BARTENDER EVER, so sweet and on top of everything ♡ I will definitely come back next time I return!
Tim the bartender was the best. Super funny and friendly, drinks are strong. Best hand grenade in the French quarter.
Denied entry after we produced both of our military IDs and then trying to show drivers license when he was worried about our IDs, how can you be a bouncer and not know what a military ID looks like when there is a base near by? And the bar allows this continue? Nah I’ll just go spend my money elsewhere. This happened 08/16 at 1940 if anyone from management is wondering.
When I was at the bar, a larger bouncer with dreadlocks was taking fake ids and possibly some real ids then selling them back for what looked to be $50 and allowing the underaged kids entry after (around 10 pm).
Staying in New Orleans a few blocks away from Bourbon St, this place quickly became a favorite. We tried the hand grenades and the shark attack and both were strong and delicious. Super nice staff, and a great atmosphere. We especially loved the balcony!
This place made our night! We started here and got great service with fair prices. So we headed out to other bars on Bourbon Street thinking this was the norm. Not at all! We got a lot of rude people with outrageous prices. So we headed back to Tropical Isle and ended our night on a high note having good conversation with Jake and meeting chill people. Cant wait to go back! Thanks for all the awesome advice Jake! You were spot on.
Not a bad midday, weekend experience here. Easy seating at the bar with relatively decent service. Ordered the famous Grenade, and wandered the streets with ease. Not a pineapple fan, but the Grenade certainly packs a punch if thats what youre looking for. Good music, too!
Hand Grenades are almost as better than water! 5/5
My favourite place in the entire world. The Hand Grenades are killer- really. They dont hit you until youve had too many. I flashed everyone, lost my shoes, but all around, had a lovely time. The live music was absolutely amazing. The atmosphere in here is really great, too. We were served by Tim, hes a fantastic bartender.
Had the best experience here! The coolest bartender ever works here, Jenny! She was patient and friendly. Even guided me through local restaurants and suggested me good food. Since I was a tourist, that was really helpful. The drinks were truly aesthetic and tasty. Especially, Hand Grenades! Theyre affordable and definitely worth a try.
The bartender and security guard were racist & rude to my friends and I. They kicked us out because we said the Karaoke machine ate our money. They referred to us as “ you people”. The security guard slapped my drink out of my hand and assaulted us when we asked why we were being told to leave. when management got involved he didn’t apologize and only gave us our money back because we called the cops.
Andrew was an amazing bartender. Extremely friendly, made amazing drinks and even remembered us the next day! Made the experience much better and made us want to come back multiple times just for his service. He deserves a raise and a shoutout for his service!
Yeah, the hand grenade is a gimmick. So what? Its a decently tasty drink (I advise you to order the skinny version), and the place has a great party city atmosphere. Come here at lunchtime in off season (Christmas through Easter) for quiet chats with locals and the bartender.
Even if you’re going to be in town for a very short stay, it is absolutely imperative that you try the (Frozen) hand grenade. And after topping that off, try tossing your little plastic hand grenade to a basket that is suspended from the ceiling.
This place is extremely small that is only issue I have with it.I have waited in line for a really long time to get a drink but it is worth the wait. I love the shark attack it is such a fun drink to get. they ring a bell and they blow a whistle and it is like a show! It is so fun they throw a toy alligator into the cup and then they fill the shark with grenadine and they dunk it into the drink like the shark is attacking the drink! It is so fun! The hand grenades are the staple drink of Bourbon Street its worth the bang for the buck. They are worth the $10. It is right on Bourbon Street so you can walk around with your drink and it is a super fun place to be!
Will always love thia bar there are amazing drinks and bartenders. I even met my husband here. However, was very disappointed last night. One of the security guards fallowed my cousin to the girls bathroom and videoed over the stall. She saw yhe phone threw it in the toilet and he got in the stall and smacked her. She ran to tell the bartender and she gass light her and kicked her out. Not cool she was asking for help.
We went in there several times through out the night. On the night leading up to my wife’s birthday at midnight on November 25th leading into the early morning of the 26th. The service was outstanding. Live music earlier on the evening and engaging bartenders who made you feel at home and not like a bothersome tourist. 🤘🏽🤘🏽🤘🏽The Grenade (frozen or rocks) was so much better and stronger than any hurricane I have ever had anywhere period! An absolute must on your trip to bourbon street!
Classic and fun. A person might be turned off by the cheapness of its branding being so loud and in your face- but those people can go have a drink at star bucks. The history of this place is oozing out of the walls- and the commitment to being original NOLA bar screams out at you with every turn. Get a hand grenade and keep the cup- or get a shark attack and enjoy the theatrics of the bar tender making it with grenadine pouring out of the rubber sharks mouth into your drink. Fun place.
Do yourself a favor and go to this location for your hand grenades in the French quarter instead of the other location on bourbon. This is great customer service and fast service.
Ye be warned. The hand grenade is the most delicious drink I’ve ever had, but she’s deadly. Just one was the turning point catalyst that took our NOLA trip from a blast to ROCKSTAR LEVEL OUTRAGEOUS.We purposefully missed our flight home to stay and party with some members of a band we just met (super nice people- still LOVE them), bought plane tickets for 9am the next morning instead and crashed with them, OH and I got my first tattoo. In fact I got two of them on my left arm.Jane the Jail Bird signing off.
Exploding grenade is genius, love the hand grenade and the OG moonshine. Sending my friends here for the 191!
First time after living in the US for 5 months that my valid ID proving i am over 21 was refused, because it is a foreign ID. Rude and unreasonnable bouncer demanding to see our passport (who walks around with their passport ???)
There are about 4 different Tropical Isle in the French Quarter, all home to the most powerful drink the hand grenade. The location looks similar with its bright green walls and bright decor. This one has a large octopus hanging over the bar.The hand grename cost $10 and is pretty strong. If you save your cup, youll save $1 on your next grenade. The drink is served with a little plastic grenade that floats on top that you can throw into a basket hanging from the ceiling.
Good service. Short wait for your hand grenades. And yes, you will be getting hand grenades. Nothing else. They are amazing. Perfect New Orleans / Bourbon St atmosphere at this place. Multiple locations too.
Watched the game upstairs. Bartender Dave was totally interactive with the scene. He was ringing the bell during our mini-air hockey tourney and very helpful in getting us to a good food place. The balcony space was a perfect people watching. Great place to hang out!
Great place to hang out with everyone. Much live music downstairs. Drinks of course. Upstairs balcony to watch the crowds. This is the place that the local news does the broadcast of Mardi Gras if you’re into that sort of thing. I’ve been going to New Orleans for years and I have to hit this place up each time I go. It’s a good place during the season and a great place off season. Give it a shot, they’ll give you shots back.
Listen landed in Nola Monday for the first few days drinks were fantastic chick with shirt hair upstairs made amazing drinks and handed me free beads and this dude with sort of long black hair was fantastic came round 4pm Thursday get one hand grenade no refills and the bar tender refuses to serve me anything else mind you that was my only drink of the day if that dude is ever there serving when Im back ill take my business else were dudes like 6ft with short hair I loved this bar and it was my favorite in the quarter till he ruined it and to management you got paid $11 then I went to pat o Brians and spent $100+ so great job!!
I had a ball thanks to the bartenders, only complaint I have is that they blocked a lot of the black artist on the jukebox so I couldn’t listen to a lot of female and male rap artist. They need to change that.
Got the hand grenade and it was ok. I love sweet drinks, but this wasnt the best ever. Very touristy.
Not overly impressed with this place. They have the gimmick grenade drink that everyone gets. While in NOLA you might as well get one just to say you did it. The drink itself is not at all impressive and really its just an overpriced sugar drink. I finished mine in maybe 30-60 seconds and was left with a meh feeling. When you walk in it feels like you are transported back to Spring Break during your high school years. The bar is loud and obnoxious sometimes with some stupid alarm/bell that they set off randomly. They do have some live music sometime as well. Id say there are much better bars to frequent than this one, but stop in get a grenade to say you did it.
I came here to get the infamous hand grenade cocktail on a sunny afternoon. They have it on tap. Its bright neon green and super sweet, like a midori sour. Too sweet for my taste but it was pretty funny walking around the street drinking the green stuff from a plastic kiddie cup.
This is your typical Bourbon Street bar. Loud, flashing lights and sugary mixes of adult beverages. This place is mainly known for their Hand Grenades. These drinks are reasonably worth a try but (not to sounds snobby) they arent that great unless you like really sweet drinks.
Mike is the best bartender in New Orleans. Trust me you will have a good time.
Amazing energy and drinks... We ordered large hand Grenades. This drink is not for lightweights. As I attempted to drink my second Hand Grenade, I was stopped in my tracks. Although its delicious, its deadly (in the best way). You have been warned.
Great music and nice atmosphere. Definitely need to hit up when you’re in the area. Ask for Ren he is amazing and cute!!!
The drinks are potent if thats what youre wanting, and the live music is usually okay. The bathrooms are relatively good for Bourbon Street. But the balcony is the real winner here. Its a great space to chill and watch the people pass by, doing all their people-stumbling-down-Bourbon-Street things.
A must-stop for their famous Hand Grenade drink. Make sure you get it frozen and not on ice if you want it to last.
Got the famous NOLA drinks - Grenade! It does cost $10. They have a good bar and we enjoyed our time! Highly recommended to have the Grenade at Bourbon St.!
Came with a group of people, one of them being Cuban with a Cuban ID. When going up to the bouncer the bouncer looked at the Cuban ID up and down and went to ask her manager if it’s okay if she allows a Cuban ID and the manager said no immediately, mind you we all were holding a hand grenade from the other tropical isles and have been here 4 days already using his Cuban ID. All we wanted was to go upstairs and enjoy ourselves at this tropical isle as it’s the only one with an upstairs deck but instead got discriminated against. Disgusting.
The hand grenade is deceivingly strong. It tastes how it looks! NEON. GREEN. SWEET. It takes a few sips for it to hit you. If youre looking for a good tipsy night on the cheap ($10), I understand why folks would recommend the hang grenade. But I felt pretty sick afterwards. Dont eat beignets right after you drink it!
The bartender Jon, was by far the most rude bartender Ive met. He was more busy trying to train the customers how to order drinks so it was easy for him. Alfonso, the security guard showed so much hospitality! He was awesome. Look for new help at the bar.
Wonderful bartenders, wonderful bands. I love this Bar
If you haven’t had a hand grenade, you haven’t lived your life to its fullest. Soooo good and you only need a couple to get you right. Make sure to keep your glass cause refills are cheaper then buying new drinks.
Noisy, tacky bar catering to the touristy-side of Bourbon Street. Go for the Hand Grenade. Great place to start the night or to keep the fun rolling.
Brother got me my very first (and only) hand grenade here, frozen. Holy moly, now I see what the hype is about! Cant wait to come back and have another while taking a stroll on Bourbon 👽🍹
(Referring to manager STEPHANIE). Sad to say that I’m rating this a 1. I lovedddd Tropical Isle, every single time that I have traveled to New Orleans, Tropical Isle is my place. On October 11th, I was out with family & friends, celebrating my 30th birthday. We went to one of the Tropical Isle on Bourbon (don’t have the exact address). I understand that this is a bar that makes lots of money & doesn’t really work on customer Service. My friends and I were asked what we wanted by bartender Stephanie. She took our order and continued to take other customers order. Never served us but served others. I grabbed her attention again and informed her that we were waiting for 30mins for our drinks.. she got angry and told us that she had served us, which wasn’t true. I told her why she had an attitude & that I wanted to speak with the manager. She told me she was the manager. I am writing this out, in hopes that the owner/ or who ever manages her is aware that this happened. After all this happened, she made our drinks (we still hadn’t paid her, thank God) and she told me “here, now you can shutup”. I yelled & told her I would be back tomorrow to speak with her manager & she threw all of our drinks in the garbage. After this, we stayed in Nola for 3 more days & never stepped foot in Tropical Isle & it was 7 of us FYI. Great way to lose money.
If you wanna get turnt up!! There drinks are strong and the hand grenade u can get frozen or on the rocks it has a secret recipe so cant really ask whats in it but its worth it a few of these and walk down bourbon street will Have u lit! Wish I could post videos cause thats all I have
Jon the bartender was very unprofessional and aggressive. Asked me if it was my first time at a bar because I asked for two drinks. One for myself and for my boyfriend who was next to me... Also, asked if I ordered for more than one person at McDonalds... completely ruined my experience. Keep hiring more people like him if you want to run more people out of your business...
Joyful atmosphere. The shark attack drink is an mind blowing experience. The bad thing: all their drinks taste terrible. Variations of cheap alcohol with lots of ice and sugar. Why would you buy these drinks when you are on a city of such amazing cocktails?
Tropical Isle is the producer of those green drinks every first timer and out of towner walk down Bourbon with: The Hand Grenade. Drinking one may just be considered a rite of passage. No one knows what they put in it, but you wont remember it anyway. If nothing else, do it for the Gram/Yelp/Social media photo. Can you really say youve been to Bourbon Street if you dont have a photo with a hand grenade? Not in the time of The Millennials.Photos or it didnt happen.Best of luck, Young Padawan.
We stumbled across this place by accident. The guy playing on their stage sounded like a cassette that was stretched a bit. The bartender, John, was very informative aboyt both their happy hour (3-1) and some of the local venues. No one can possibly know them all. We had a very enjoyable drink and after having a 24 ounce draft and a (3 shot in one drink) crown and ginger our tab was...are you ready for this, $8.50. Thats what I call total satisfaction!!
Holy smokes I cannot tell you how foul the hand granade is. If you want the recipe: take four full cups of extremely sweet lemonade, a 1/3rd cup of lime juice (this son of a gun is sour), and 4-5 shots of the cheapest spirit you can find. The sugar combined with the spirits means youll get tipsy in about 5 minutes and sicker than a dog in 10. This seems like the type of drink frat boys drink only on a dare. If you are looking to simply get drunk, then you a.) Need to reevaluate your priorities if youre dropping $10 on this, and b.) look elsewhere if you want the stamina to stay out for more then half an hour. A close, and better, alternative is to take four shots of cheap tequila and pound a glass of straight lemon juice.
The grenade drink is the best drink I’ve ever had , affordable & big. The price & refill price is a good price I just wish they sold food
You cant leave Nola without having their signature drink: the famouns Hang grenade. Whether on the rocks or frozen, that drink always hit the spot. Thank me later!
Pretty damn good drinks. The frozen grenade is my favorite. Cool bartenders, lots of fun entertainment. I visit regularly and never disappointed.
Dont waste your time or money. The staff is slow, rude and unfriendly. The drinks are WAY over priced and watered down. The live music is lackluster and the place is absolutely filthy...Even for Bourbon standards.
I dont drink the Hand Grenades, but boy do they sale a million of them! I like the quaint atmosphere this location and the bartenders are really good and fast.
Super busy, kind of wild and crazy and it was like 2 pm. But good place to get your party on. Wanted to try the shark attack drink (not sure about that name) you get a big plastic shark in ur drink, didnt get to it, next time.
Fun atmosphere. Live music some nights. Drinks are ok
I love the HANDGRENADE best on Bourbon! It is a melony and citrusy cocktail that comes in its own plastic container. It is patented and trademarked so they are only legally available on Bourbon Street at the three Tropical Isles, the Little Isle, the Original Isle, 721 Burbon, and The Funky Pirate. Nobody else is legally permitted to make a beverage and call it a Grenade, Handgrenade or anything similar. DO NOT ASK WHAT THE RECIPE IS!!!!! IT IS TOP SECRET. THE BARTENDERS DO NOT EVEN KNOW. IT IS DISPENSED BY A DRINK HOSE. The live bands are always amazing, and if you like what you hear, they accept tips. Tips are encouraged too if you are requesting a song. Tips are not mandatory but make you look good.
They had a little Drink called The handGrenade which was delightfully sweet but snuck up on us. Lol No complaints about thePlace, they or a few places should probably have security though.
I have been going to Tropical Isle for years. The Handgranade is one of the strongest drinks I have experienced. It sure as heck tastes better than that red drink around the corner.
Gotta get that hand grenade! Its so good and theyre generous with the alcohol for the price!
I just come here for the hand grenades, Nothing more, nothing less. Its strong and pretty good deal so what is there not to like. I don’t know exactly what is in them, but after a few of them I’m feeling pretty good and that’s what NOLA is all about
The Tropical Isle Bars on Bourbon Street are the best places in the French Quarter. Best drinks and bartenders and by far the best music and bands everyday. We always go there when we go Bourbon Street.
A bit sketchy and doesn’t have the same relaxed feel as neighbouring bars. Told in no uncertain terms on entry that minimum drink purchase per person applies
Heard about the hand grenade. Came all the way from west coast and was told to try one when I get here. It will get me messed up they said. What a joke. I was already worried when I saw the tender use the soda gun only. I taste nothing but the mix.
Only stopped for the hand grenade but I tell you this drink is awesome. sadly you can only buy it in New Orleans... already looking forward my next visit
Had a great time! Our bartender was Marti and she was amazing! Definitely visit this location if you come to New Orleans :)
My favorite place for drinks in New Orleans. Definitely a must visit every time we go!
My dude had a hand grenade. It wasn’t bad at all but it was sugary. I decided to get cranberry & grey goose and when I say I was messed up OMG. It sent me over the edge. 😂
Well worth the wait! I cannot wait to visit New Orleans again! The drinks here are amazing! This is a must if you’re ever in the area
Had a hand grenade to go. It was far too delicious for something with grain alcohol in it. Great watermelon taste, and you cant really taste the alcohol.
Had a great bartender at the walk up bar on Friday! Her name was Trudy! She gave us tips on where to go, what to do and what areas to avoid! Thanks Trudy!
Outdoor seating available on the balcony, gotta get the hand grenade! Fair price, very boozy, very sugary.
