California Skin Care & Day Spa

This place BURNED me!On April 27th, 2024 I went to the California Skin Care & Day Spa for a facial and brow wax. I bought a toner product after leaving and tipped the aesthetician for the services.Later that night I noticed my right brow bone was burned from the wax. The next morning I could see that it was a first or second degree burn and very painful. The business was closed on Sunday and Monday and therefore I could not contact to complain. I called and spoke to the aesthetician and she apologized and said she would tell Ronald to refund my money. Nothing happened that day. I called back Wednesday evening and spoke to Ronald and he tried to tell me he could only give me a credit. I said that wouldn’t work because I don’t live there. He offered to refund my wax but I wanted the tip refunded. He said he couldn’t do that. I was upset and said then refund me the wax and toner I bought and I’ll call it good and won’t go on Yelp. He came back and refused to do that because the tip was $10 less than the toner. He could have made things right and refused and even questioned why I didn’t say anything earlier. I couldn’t because I didn’t know the severity of my burn until the next day. He made me feel like I wasn’t telling the truth and then refused to do the brow wax refund because he said I threatened to go on Yelp. This place is awful!*Updating to respond to Ronald. Let me make it clear. I intended to share my experience and Ronald made me feel like a liar and questioned me, pressing me asking why I didn’t notify them sooner about the burn. I didn’t know the severity of the burn until the next day and by then the business was closed for the next two days. I called the third day and left a message for Ronald and that message was never relayed to him. I called and spoke to Ronald on the fourth day and there was no empathy from him. I wanted my money back for the wax service, not the facial, and the tip. I don’t feel someone should receive a tip for burning me. I truly hope no one else has to go through this painful experience and the business could have made it right and instead chooses to say I’m threatening and extorting them, this is how they treat their customers.

I has some warts removed and Elena did not give a flat price. She based each wart by size and charged allot. When asked if I can be numb so the pain would be less she was not willing to do so and she charges for that as well. The $50 initial fee is not subtracted from your amount after the procedure is done. They are a little tricky on that.

I had my facial done , initially she said it was 100 dollars over the phone . When I was on the table halfway done she said it’s $ 260. So my one advice to all make sure you ask the rates before you sign anything , fix the amount first than get the service.Elaina is really good , she does good work but way too pricey , she will put you on spot to do more and collect more $$

I had an excellent experience with my massage therapist her name is Maria. Their skillful techniques and attentive approach created a truly relaxing and rejuvenating session. I highly recommend their services for anyone seeking a skilled and professional massage therapist. They do a lot of service. Your money will be worth it and mostly your body will relax.

My shoulder hurt and Jasons massage helped so much. He is knowledgeable and had some really good input on how to prevent these tensions to recur. Can highly recommend the service and venue in general.

I have come to this place for my euro facial and microdermabrasionWhen I was at the end of it , the person forgot to ask her name, she told me it would be great to perform micro channeling and stem cells and she convinced me to do it, I was hesitated to do it because of the micro needles but she said it won’t hurt or bleed. I trusted herIt was hurting around my eyes , my lips and annoying but I could stand it.When she was done she applied some acid salicylic. It burnt horribly and she applied some cold wet towel on my face and finally applied stem cellMy pores were wide open and red face and very sore .Later that dayI was short of breath and I thought it was some kind of allergies and my eyes were looking in the environment of my house a clear fog but I didn’t know what else to do ,My face was burnt that I couldn’t touch or cleanse with anything otherwise burntNext day I couldn’t tolerate those symptoms and I went to the Emergency roomAnd doctor saidIt was too much done in my skinThat they treat as an allergic reaction and short breath I had the doctor treat with asthma and I got some medicine ( steroids) to treat my symptoms.Maybe I shouldn’t have done the last 2 micro channeling/ stem cell.I hope they can do something about it.I went through many things this past weekendI did that on April 19 th 2024.

The lady tried to rip me off the owner. After the session was over she tried her best to make more money out of me by saying that the serum was additional $30 which she never mentioned during the session. I wouldn’t recommend this place.

If I could give zero stars I would. They charged me more for the set service and did not tell me the add ons till the end. I suggest not going here. The back treatment was not good and scarred my back more. I reccommend going somewhere else and saving your money. They are after your money and they will not leave me alone and stop messaging me.

Clean, pleasant surroundings. I received an excellent massage that was not only therapeutic but relaxing. I plan on going again.

This amazing family owned spa is a must try. I have had their massages and facial and can say that my body and skin thanks me. Unexpectedly pleasant - the outside is very unassuming. Elena, Mari, Jason and Ron are some of the best folks there. I now have found a local place to get pampered. Theyre so friendly and very good at what they do!

I’ve been going to California Skin Care and Day Spa for over 10 years, and am always pleased with the services. They take such wonderful care of me!

I booked the Valentine Day Spa package for me and my wife & wow! We started off with mimosas before the sauna, then strawberries and champagne in the bubble jet bath and a wonderful deep tissue massage with really nice smelling oils. Working 12-hour shifts on top of a 2 hour commute several days a week really makes me more tense than what i realized, so that massage felt euphoric. The massage was followed by sandwiches and fruit and finally an exfoliating facial. Elena goes above and beyond to make your skin glow and rejuvenated. The entire experience was magical. The staff is very kind and accommodating. Excellent customer service. I cant wait to go back for my next services. (:

I can’t explain to you how much I LOVE this Spa! I have been coming here since I was a teen to get the teen facials and to this day I come to get extractions! The staff is so nice and kind and I appreciate their feedback when it comes to skin care! Can’t recommend this place enough!

DO NOT COME HERE.The owner RON owns this and 2 other locations.I made an appointment to try and get a massage but due to my schedule I needed to cancel.I called the spa 4 TIMES, and spoke to MARI all four times. The first time I spoke to her she didn’t cancel it, just moved it to the next day.Same thing the 2nd, 3rd and 4th time.They must train their staff to be dishonest.By the 4th time, I spoke to the owner and let him know this is my 4th time trying to cancel the appointment that his staff failed to do the first 3 times.The owner RON didn’t care because he gets his money and that’s the end of it for him.DO NOT COME HERE.

They make you feel very relax and they really now how to treat you with their kinds. Very professional.

I absolutely love CA day spa! These guys are amazing! I bought a prenatal massage package and felt pampered. Marie has magic hands! She helped get all the knots and kinks out. My body feels like melted butter walking out of here :) I continue going here after my babys birth and highly recommend it.

I took my mom to this spa for the first time. They recommended to do a microdermabrasion facial for her skin tone. Her skin was bruised and she got black marks on her face. I took her to them and they put ointment on her skin and told us that it will go away within a week. It didn’t go away and she has scars on her face. I do not recommend their service. Also, they charged us $495 for another client of theirs by mistake and told us that they will reverse it. It has been a month nothing happened. I called them many times and left voicemails, no response. They don’t even take my calls any more. We’ve been charged over $600 for no reasons. Horrible experience overall. Customer service plus bad facial that leaves marks on face. We are planning to take action so their licenses get suspended. Please aware and don’t go to this place and get robbed. I feel so sorry for my mom.

Amazing! My girlfriend and I went for a couples massage. The massage was so good. My muscles feel great and my body has never felt better. Super friendly staff with a very relaxing atmosphere. I highly recommend that you give this place a try!

Amazing! I am impressed with the level of attention and care they gave me from the very first moment I called to schedule an appointment to the day of my appointment. It was a perfect spa day, well spent on my birthday. Marie was amazing, perfect touch for my massage and facial. I definitely will be back!

I treated my mom for a California facial for her birthday today. It was both of our first time at this spa. And OMG..... it was absolutely amazing! We felt so rejuvenated after our 90 minute session and we are definitely returning.

A+ review for Elena. Elena goes the extra mile to make sure her customers leave satisfied and well taken care of. She is meticulous on hair removal , and makes you comfortable in an uncomfortable situation . I have been going to Elena at California Skin Care and Spa for past 15years , there is no need to go anyone else.

I came here with a melasma problem on my face. I tried lasers and creams and nothing worked. I spent thousands of dollars on different treatments that did nothing. I drove to San Ramon for months to see a special top dermatologists that treated melasma. My face was in worse shape than when I started. So I decided to try this day spa in Newark, right down the street from my house. Elena recommended the herbal peel, the peel lasted about 4 days total. The results were AMAZING!!!! I felt so good about myself. I wanted to thank California Day Spa for giving me the confidence I needed.

Elena is the owner of this Spa and I have been going there for quite a long time. She recommended me some products such as Image with SPF 50 moisturizer, EGF and I used these products for my skin repair as well as the moisturizer. I love these products because I could feel my skin tightens and the EGF was very soothing to my skin and hydrates my skin deeper than I expected. All the products I have bought from her and I am still using them give me 150% satisfaction. I would highly recommend to all these products and you wont regret using them. She massage and the therapist is good, but there has construction work in the front, so I parked my card on the back side, there were plenty of parking lots.

I really enjoyed the last facial I got from this spa. It was extremely relaxing and I loved it. I forgot the name of the person who gave it but she really deserves all the kudos that she can get for expertise!
