I would give this place 0 stars if I could. I had liked the previous massage I had there, but the therapist I had this time (Corrine) combined with the unprofessional management of the situation that arose was disgraceful. Corrine was less than personable from the start, and was not warm or friendly at all. I thought maybe her massage skills would make up for it, but from the moment she put her hands on me I was even more uncomfortable and uneasy. She was going to fast with so little pressure that I felt like she was prepping me for a medical procedure. When I asked her to slow down and use deeper pressure she said okay and proceeded to change absolutely nothing. She later asked if everything was okay and I said I really wanted her to go slower, to which she responded Im just not a slow person and told me I could reschedule with someone else if I was not comfortable. At this point I was so uncomfortable with her having her hands on me that I asked her to stop. When I went to the front desk crying I assumed they would not charge me for such an awful experience, particularly because Corrine had said I could reschedule. However, they made it clear that they were charging me for a FULL HOUR even though I was on the table for about 40 minutes. When I expressed frustration at having to pay for something that was not at all what I asked, they seemed to think I was trying to get free service even though what they called service felt more like undergoing an unpleasant medical examination. I would never go back there and am honestly afraid to book a massage anywhere for fear of this type of situation happening again. I have yet to find a good massage place in Pittsburgh, but if youre looking for one this definitely isnt it.
New management, new employees, completely sucks.I had a membership for a few years getting massages and facials monthly but I recently cancelled. The service is poor. I arrived 30 minutes early and my massage was 10 minutes late (changed for 5 minutes) then ended 10 minutes early because they were behind schedule. I requested to cancel in person and they told me I had to send an email. This did not make sense to me as I signed up in person. I expressed this over the phone and was told, my manager isnt here right now but we will handle it. sorry for the inconvenience.Long story short, 4 months later it is cancelled. They refuse to refund me, but expect me to feel comfortable going into this establishment to credit after I went back in forth with management. I asked multiple times who was behind these twitter fingers, but they didnt want to share.Interesting how a company can have my card information, my address, my email, workers who have seen me half naked, but fail to share who is responding with such foolishness behind the company email address.
Great Massages; Shady Billing PracticesMy wife and I have been members for about 6 months. We tried to cancel at the end of November, and are still being billed in January (we are moving across the country to Seattle). When went for what we thought was our final massage, we were told that we should have filled out a cancellation form (but that theyd work to make sure we werent charged again). Now, when I noticed that there were more charges on my card for a massage I wouldnt be able to redeem, I called them to figure out what we could do. The person on the phone assured me that there is a Massage Heights in Seattle and I could use the credit to get a massage in Seattle. That was a lie - there is no Massage Heights in Seattle.I am going through my bank and credit card company to try to get the most recent charges reversed. The massages are great, though. I would recommend being prepared to cancel your credit card when you want to cancel your membership.
I have been a member here since they opened and go monthly if not twice a month, mostly for massage but have had a few facials as well. I just love this team! I am a former spa manager at a luxury resort in Hawaii (Fairmont Orchid) and am so impressed with what they have done with this small space. Added benefit of free parking and some great shops to check out when youre done. They do a great job of screening their therapists - due to my schedule I am always booking last minute so always have someone different, and they have ALL been fantastic. Keep up the good work, guys!
This would be a 1 star if the masseuse did not provide good technique and was so polite. I would first like to start off by saying this was my first time here. I attempted to book this past Monday and our appointments were confirmed (my wife and I were attempting to go at the same time) only to find out when we show up that she is at noon and I am at 2. This was the first hiccup, but that is okay mistakes happen. We re booked for today, I was called back and Ready to receive my massage at 605, the massage started shortly after. Like I said the massage was nice and a good quality. My rating remains poor because the massage ended at 655, 50 mins when I was booked for an hour. I was slightly upset at this point, but it got worse when I went to the desk and they said my total was 99.99$ because I wouldn’t sign up for a membership. Not only was this double than as discussed (my wife confirmed 49.99$ for me prior to us going) there was a pamphlet right in front of my face stating introductory massage 49.99$. So why are you trying to charge me double? This upset me greatly that you not only cut my massage short but then tried to double the cost. Unacceptable.
The only reason they receive two stars is for the therapists themselves. The office is extremely mismanaged, good luck getting someone on the phone or booking an appointment. I’ve tried to use my monthly subscription but it’s more of a hassle than it’s worth because you can never make a remotely convenient appointment, when you show up the therapists are usually late and they don’t reimburse you that time, and the front desk staff never seem to know what’s going on. I would call Massage Envy and schedule with them but I’ve already paid for this month. What’s the point of relaxing for a massage when just trying to get an appointment stresses you out? Do yourself a favor, go somewhere else.
Absolutely love the consistency and friendliness. Always on time and the place offer a good variety of spa services. What I love most is free garage parking and central location. I have seen a few therapists but always stick to my favorites. My husband on the other hand always switches due to his schedule and we have never had a therapist we didnt like between us. Perfect place to relax and recharge!
Tl;dr: very professional. Very enjoyable. Recommended.I ended up getting a massage through a long story I wont go into. I never get massages, but here I was. I had a gift card that turned out not to have enough on, so they needed my credit card information, but I didnt want to get any kind of advertising from them. The staff there were very patient, making every effort to keep me satisfied. Then, I got the massage. It was a very relaxing, very calming. The masseuse was really great, especially dealing with my shoulders, which are always aching - perhaps I should rethink my policy of not getting massages! I didnt regret taking the time out to do this for myself. :)
My girlfriend purchased a massage package for me over the phone. She was given nothing in return and told to have me call to set up my massages. I loved the gift but I knew I wouldnt go often.. On my first call I was given grief as I was told my package expired. My girlfriend called and spoke to someone else who fixed everything but every time I call Im told I need a membership, or I have been told I need to renew my membership to use the massages that were purchased for me. This was over a $300 and this company has been extremely difficult to work with. I would suggest if you want a massage you look anywhere else
Massage Heights takes advantage of customers errors when the customer decides too late that they dont want a membership.Theyll take you money and keep it, even if you havent schedule a massage or want the membership. Its silly and unethical.Prepaid membership massages will not be refunded if you fail to cancel the not-yet-received massage and massage membership. My daughter unwittingly signed a contract I was not prepared to pay for and neither is she as she is a student. While it is legal, it is mostly a sales trick, and the law protects the business, not the customer in this.Buyer beware. Theyll say they warned you, but effectively it doesnt matter.
This company has stolen the money of many people who subscribed to monthly massages - and promptly closed the Bakery Square location and will not reimburse for the massages that were charged. I was just cancelled on the appointment i had on their last day and they refuse to reimburse. There is a rumor of class action lawsuit - if you know about it - please let me know.
By far, the most incompetent, confused, and untrained office staff I have ever seen! For 2 months now I have tried cancelling my membership by using the email given to me by an employee when I call. I am on my THIRD DIFFERENT EMAIL ADDRESS all that comes back to me as not deliverable. How is this real business practices? They now have $140 of my money and I have had my last few appointments either double-booked, cancelled, or moved due to their incompetence. It shouldnt be this hard to cancel a membership. The sole reason I am cancelling is due to their front office staff. On a separate not, the massages have been great...but not great enough to deal with the people at the front desk. Shameful.
I’ve been seeing Kathy, Massage Therapist at Massage Heights and she has made the difference for me on each of my visits, I just love her – the only problem is she’s only there on Monday’s and Tuesday’s and routinely booked and I know why – she’s the BEST.Overall everyone who works there is really good, I enjoy the space, the aromatherapy and the enjoyment of being relaxed in a great atmosphere.I joined up back in the summer, both me and my best friend made a commitment to treat ourselves better – Massage Heights makes that #1 for us.Massage Heights is a great compliment to Bakery Square and I’m glad to be a member.
Such a garbage place. I had membership for 2 years with them and had recommended this place to so many people. I will make sure that none of my friends come here anymore. I was happy and satisfied until I tried to cancel my membership since I moved to far. They kept charging me and ok I used those hours but I need to keep calling and ask to make sure they will not charge me again. And here we go... charge again. Alright, come here for last appointment today with my friends for who I got gift card back in August. And girl at register says it has zero balance on her gift card. I asked if it was maybe used and she said, no it just doesn’t have money on it. I told her that I have receipt at home and she could check purchase from my debit card in August. She said it is all good... we will take care of this. Now the best PART OF THEIR CUSTOMER SERVICE. Check that. 10 min before place is close they leave her VOICE MESSAGE, that they gonna charge her card, because when you make an appt you have to give your card info. Even before we left I asked if she checked with manager that situation because that’s a gift for my friend and I don’t want any charges for her. So, now she just paid for gift from me and I paid as well! How nice!!! Not to mention that instead of one hour she got 40 min, because her therapist was late.... Worst customer care experience I ever had in my whole life!
The young lady at the front desk had me smell all these free aromatherapy oils to have on the table. She was then too busy talking to her coworker about moving out of Pittsburgh and being a yinzer. She went on talking about eating Vics Chest rub to make you feel better. She must have been to busy to let the massage therapist which oil I picked because he knew nothing about it. The massage therapist was not better. He had rough long nails and gave. E little cuts. I asked for light pressure which he did not listen. At the end of the bad massage I had to deal with the girl at the front desk. This time she tried to keep upselling me things when I kept say no! Overall I was very disappointed. I will not be going back. I get a massage once a month, if able, and I will find somewhere new!!!
I had a groupon for a facial and an hour massage. The rice scrub from the facial destroyed my delicate skin, like when you over scrub your face or give yourself a chemical burn (ask me how I know). Then I had to lay face down for an hour, on my raw face.Let me add here real quick that even tho Im paying with groupon, inorder to book an appointment I had to give them my payment card info.So as Im getting ready to head out I of course tip above 20% for both services. My bank account notifies me that the two tips, one for $30 and one for $25, have been taken out of my account. Everything is good Im going to let the face thing go.Then 20 minutes later my phone notifys me again saying another $25 has been taken out of my account. I called Massage Heights and told them about the withdrawal and they said they would fix it.3 weeks later, I have not received my refund.
I gave my boyfriend the gift of a couples massage and was excited to have it scheduled.A day before our date, they called and informed me that they had double booked us and could only massage one of us. I rescheduled so that we could do it together- two days before this date-they called again and canceled because someone was sick. That may be, but you are a business and you dont get to just throw your hands up-someone should have covered that.I rescheduled AGAIN-thinking I would give them another chance and the DAY BEFORE, they call and cancel because someone quit.Unprofessional. Lazy. Poor mannered.Dont waste your time with this joke of a business.
Great experience here. Enjoyed the deep tissue massage they provided. Reasonable introductory price for a massage. They are rather expensive after that. They also offer an affordable membership pricing which mirrors the intro price.
Terrible organization. The massage was not effective...a total waste of money. They would not accept my gift certificate and claimed it had been used by someone in Florida??? They pushed me off to the help email at their main office in Texas. That group has been as non- responsive as their local affiliate. This is not a business you can trust! AVOID THEM...GO SOMEWHERE ELSE.
Therapist was good. She was nice. But she was late coming out to get me. It would have been short of ok if she recognized it and then compensated me by given me that time back. I was shorted some time on my massage.
I found a groupon with an amazing deal so I had to check them out. Even though I had a groupin they still treated me like a fully playing client, which isnt always the case with groupon. Sometimes a spa can feel like a big sales pitch, but not here I didnt feel pressure to buy a single thing. The front desk lady is super nice!
Great place. Had my first massage here and enjoyed here. The staff are friendly and let you know what you expect. I used a Groupon and got a good deal.
Better places are close by. This place is cheap so you will get what you pay for. You may get lucky and get a really good therapist. If you do stick with them. Its like a dime a dozen in that place. The turn over is crazy and its not the neatest place. But like I said and will repeat. You Get What You Pay For.
Do not I repeat do not do business with them they will refuse to cancel your services with them and will not refund money for services you didnt use!! Find another wellness spa! No one there knows the policies and they are very dishonest!!!
This location is suddenly closing and refusing to refund customers money for pre-paid massages that will not be fulfilled. The owner of the location is Eric Oliver and the regional manager is Dara M Viccaro.
LOVE Massage Heights at Bakery Square. I’ve been coming here for years for years for great affordable massages.
Massages were great, but this facility has quite possibly the worst upper management in Oakland. Avoid this place and save a headache.
Such a great, convenient place for regular massages and facials! Friendly front desk staff and knowledgeable, professional therapists!
My wife and I had a very good experience for our first massage here. Would recommend them to anyone.
Absolutely amazing experience. Max was so nice and my massage was wonderful. Highly recommend this place.
Good massages and wonderful people at the front desk to make me feel welcome too! Recommended!
I sure feel better! Nothing like a great massage after a month-long road trip
NEVERRRRRRRRR GO HERE I BOOKED A DATE FOR MY GIRLFRIEND AND FRIEND AND THEYBONLY SCHEDULE ONE APPOINTMENT, DIDNT KNOW TILL WE GOT THERE, UNPROFESSIONAL UNEXPERIENCED AND NO COMPASATION DONT GO HERE !!!!!!!!!!!!!
This place is pure garbage, I would suggest Massage envy instead.
