Love this bar, it’s is honestly one of the best dance dive bars I’ve been to! Truly enjoy how they have themed nights throughout the week! Bad gals night was my favorite, but keep in mind the line does get pretty long (around the block) so try to arrive early and bring cash! *cover* I think about $10!
Had an awesome time for the RE:MIX theme night with house music. Drinks were reasonably priced and bartenders were efficient. Need more EDM theme nights!
Soild bar. Bartenders/Bouncers legit care about patrons and keep everyone safe. Great karaoke and all sorts of music events. Pool tables, darts and Star Trek Pinball.
Fun fact: You can through a stone and hit a dive bar in Pittsburgh! There are dive bars, and hole in the wall joints throughout the city ... but ... there is only one Belvederes Ultra-Dive! A place where you can be yourself and likely find a like minded person nearby! Great Staff (especially for you forgetful folks like me ... i.e. forgotten coats, bags, jackets; If the staff picked it up, its waiting for your phone call!), Great Location (stumble, skip, or merrily walk to other frequented spots), Great Food (next door at Oasis!). All in All Pittsburghs Best Ultra Dive, Belvederes ... oh and Great Events!
Always a fun time, great crowd, and decently priced drinks. Make sure you have cash for the cover charge!
I have been to several bars in Pittsburgh.I go almost monthly now to explore bars. This place is pretty nice and within walking of hotels. The service can be slow but thats because it gets busy. I like the piano bar over this one. But I will go back.
I NEVER write reviews but this place was so WEIRD and not in a fun way. Bartenders were okay I guess, drinks were okay price but he didn’t know how to make a bay breeze (which is fine just surprised as that’s a common cocktail). Stepped towards the front door to make a (literally) 39 second phone call to tell my ride when to pick me up because I didn’t have a single bar of service inside and was very rudely told by the door lady to move. I get it that they have to keep spaces clear but I don’t appreciate being talked down to. Then we were standing by a bar like thing in the back of the dance floor and the very creepy security guard proceeded to come over and yell at us for touching things when we did nothing more than stand next to the bar (?) talking and I stood on my tiptoes to barely peek over curious as to what the random bar on the dance floor was. WE DID NOT TOUCH OR MESS WITH ANYTHING! When I asked the security guard what it was he said “don’t worry about it” and then proceeded to carry on an awkward conversation before saying “I’m waiting for you to move so I can stop watching you”. Maybe next time lead with that and don’t carry on a conversation? We would have happily moved as we weren’t doing anything other than standing there. I swear to god when we walked away I heard him say “Love you, bye.” How is that appropriate??? We left very soon after since this strange encounter was the last straw of the night from the employees. DJ absolutely sucked, was there for 3 hours and heard maybe 5 good songs. Overall this place is so weird and everyone who works there is miserable. The vibe is so off in here and everyone agreed. Not a fun night, DO NOT COME HERE!!!!
One of my fav bars. Always a good time, good prices, and good atmosphere. It does get pretty crowded since it is a smaller space but that’s not too big of a deal
This is the best dance bar Ive found in Pittsburgh. Ive been here four times, the DJs were great all the time. The security is very polite, the bartenders are great too.
Bar itself was nice. There was a separate pool section, bar, and dance floor. However, the DJ for throwback 2000s night (5/19) was horrible. Was there for 2.5 hours, waited for good songs but there were maybe only 4 hit 2000s songs within those 2.5 hours. Crowd left within 30 minutes. DJ would not take any recommendations. He was in his own world and did not care that the audience was not enjoying. Bad attitude, did not care about the feel of the crowd, ruined the night for us. If you see him, run.
First and foremost , being introverted I felt very comfortable here on my very first visit. Staff treats you warmly , not making you feel like you have to “be somebody” to get the bartenders attention! Great dance door with bamboo wall between it and pool tables , so very open feel yet separate. Three pool tables with p-l-e-n-t-y of room for people to walk by , sit beside and watch while others shoot pool. All in all awesome welcoming establishment! And everyone is accepted , so a great mix of people and personalities. My only complaint is they need older DJ’s for disco night! The young guys don’t know what music to play to get people dancing! Yes , the dance floor was packed but most of the time people were just swaying back and forth “holding their place on the floor” waiting for the next , infrequent, good disco dance tune.
Was visiting from out of state tonight excited to hit up emo night with my close friends.. paid 3 covers.. I asked the male bartender with pink hair in a ponyii tail how he was.. he answered how he wasn’t good and vibes were off.. then handed my three friends drinks.. one drink with the incorrect citrus my friends requested so she politely stated I asked for a lemon instead of a lime to which he replied I wish people would speak up when they order.. rude to the 3 out of 6 patrons at the bar.. it escalated between the two.. and ended up with him throwing the 3 out of 6 patrons out of the bar… I’ve been visitin emo nights across the states and have never felt this unwelcomed. This goes against ever emo code I know. I’m sincerely sorry he had such a bad day.. and I hope the PGH area finds a better venue to host such a welcoming musical community. Patrons beware to not ask Mr pink pony tail how his night is.. and you better not even think of questioning him if he delivers your order wrong. Peace.
For my birthday I went to 90s night, a bunch of people were doing temporary tattoos in the womens bathroom for fun- it was a very nice environment and a great time!!
Do NOT come here. Bartenders admitted their only wages were from tips before yelling in my face and threatening to throw me out for not tipping above 20%. You would have a more pleasant experience drinking from home and playing the most generic “emo” playlist possible. The utter indignity from aggressive, intoxicated staff left an everlasting impact. Support businesses with more sustainable models of income for their staff that doesn’t involve personally confronting paying clientele.
Out of towner visiting. Great vibe friendly staff even on a slow night. I definitely want to come back for a full weekend.
How you gone do it if you really dont want to danceThey throw great weekend parties here. I wish more people knew about the events because the genres I like to dance to are on weekdays and theres usually a lot less people. However I did make a Friday night disco and it was the perfect vibe. Full packed dancefloor of happy if slightly wobbly people. Wet dancefloor is actually a plus though when everyone gets into it. 🐉💃I dont really drink so cant review it as a bar per se. They have some popular pool tables a pinball machine and great decorations. When I go theres always people at the bar and every employee Ive interacted with has been Excellent. Also really neat that they keep water bottles with the doorkeeps for You, for free
I come here for bad girls night which I love! Only complaint is the Dj always ends the night playing edm type music every bad girls night I go to and it’s disappointing☹️
Fantastic spot! The security guard was the sweetest, the prices for the drinks were good, I went on a Friday night and it wasn’t too packed. Very good set up, my boyfriend could play pool while I danced my heart out on the dance floor! Loved it.
The bartender here was extremely rude. Apparently the bartender could not make anything but basic drinks. Whenever I asked for any recommendations he told me that he “was not playing that game” and would be back whenever I made up my mind. There is also typicality a cover charge to even get in. The place itself was also dated and was pretty empty on the people. 3.8 out of 5 star is higher than I would expect after going here. I was hesitant to even go in the first place based on the reviews but I will never go back.
The name says “Ultra-Dive” and it’s nowhere near that. On weekends they want a $7 cover per person, when it’s a club scene, what a joke. 100% not worth the entry fee, they act like they are Foxtails or something. Don’t go here, save your money. Overpriced cover, overpriced drinks, extremely Mid bar. Save your Uber money and stay in Southside or Northshore.
Went for punk night. Wish they actually played punk music instead of dance music with a hint of punk. Decent bar no complaints there but no matter the theme is the same music just remixed slightly. Kinda lame
We went on a Tuesday. We weren’t expecting much but still had a good time. It wasn’t a huge crowd but everybody in the place seemed to know each and it gave me an inviting, Cheers kinda vibe. There were pool tables, not the best but good enough for a drunk novice. There was a karaoke night going, it’s not my thing but it was fun to watch and served as some good background entertainment. The area seemed safe and the rides were plentiful even though it was late. Next time I’m in town I’m going again.
Used to be a nice dive bar. 5 dollar cover on a weekday now. The door girl was very rude.. No one is there. They lost out on all the money I would have spent on drinks. With so much competition I dont see how they can have a cover charge. I dont see this once wonderful bar lasting much longer.
Unrecognizable between night clubbing and day bar lounge. The night life has an entry fee ($5).Speakers cranked to 11, with a dj mixin like its his job.Drinks are reasonably priced.Even with the back-to-back sea of young adults, ordering a drink is easy and smooth. The back area dance floor provides a different vibe of music as well as additional breathing space.Plenty of room to be a wallflower (like myself)
Good vibes but the bartender didn’t know what a Dirty Shirley was which I thought was odd (it’s just sprite, grenadine and vodka so pretty simple). Maybe the drink isn’t as well known as I thought it was? I got a vodka cranberry instead and it was very heavy on the vodka. I think maybe it could have been a weird night for them so I’ll have to go back and see if the drink situation is better. Otherwise, they were all very nice and my friends and I had a lot of fun!
One fateful Saturday night in February, I was having so much fun dancing that I left my fanny pack in the Belvederes bathroom. After waking up to the cruel light of Sunday morning, I was hella nervous that my fp might be gone forever, along with its precious contents: my wallet and keys.My friends drove me back there shortly after it opened (6pm on the Lords day and every day); my stomach was in knots as I vacillated between wild hope and dismal foreboding. After I described my missing belongings, the kind and cheerful bartender reached under the bar and calmly handed me my pack. Wallet, cash and keys were all safely tucked inside. I nearly wept.Tldr its a great bar, go there!
Awesome nightclub with good music and amazing atmosphere!
We really liked the vibe and music when we went in but the staff was so extremely rude to us that our entire group left. Definitely not worth a $10 cover. Absolutely would not go back again, there are much better places to visit in Lawrenceville
Lived here for a few years been here twice and the staff is so rude, watched a bartender yell at and kick out couple girls over giving one the wrong drink. I’d spend your money somewhere else
Security out front we’re very rude. Demanded to see a vaccination card. Once we started to walk away they said or we can put masks on. I told them I am not going to spend money in any business that acts/talk to customers that way and I’m not wearing a mask. They then stated “good, we don’t want people like you business anyway” we had a group of 10 for a bachelor party and spent $3,000 that night 🤷♂️I will never ever go back
Best bar. Best bartenders. Best theme nights. Literally always great time
My favorite place to go anytime of the week. The staff and management is down to earth and super fun all the time. They have great dance nights and even better live shows occasionally. Excellent prices on a large variety of drinks also. Whether youre a day drinker or a night owl, Belvederes is the place for you. A place where everyone is welcome, and everyone is beautiful.
Fun place to dance with friends without feeling judged, drinks are priced well and there’s a large selection. Overall, always have a great time!
Horrible experience. The staff is extremely inconsiderate and rude to patrons.
Dont go here expecting to get any of the specialty cocktails they have shown on the various menus. The bartenders are rude and apparently only will make drinks that are 2 ingredients. Why offer so many drinks you cant make? Tried multiple drinks and not one was able to be made with no explanation. Poor service
Did not purchase food or drinks, I went dor a night of country line dancing. Was a wonderful atmosphere and a great time.
This is a timeless bar. The staff have always been friendly and nice to chat with. Its a good place to let go of your worries and get lost talking to a stranger. Good people, good booze, good parties and dancing. One of my all time favorite place in Pittsburgh
Bar can be fun, but seriously do not open a tab with these con artists. They automatically include gratuity on any tab over $50. They wait until you close out to tell you this as well. Stay away or bring cash only.
A Lawrenceville staple, so glad they reopened after the fire several years ago. Their drink prices are very fair, the bartenders are friendly, knowledgeable, and quick. They have excellent themed nights, notably 80s night on Thursdays which is a blast.
The bouncer at this bar grilled my friends and I with our IDs, asking us our zip codes while shining a bright light into our faces. We had another friend coming to meet us there who was years over 21 with a clearly valid ID and the bouncer woman asked his zip code and he gave a previous zip code, because he moved around, as we all do, and she would not let him in. She was very rude and i would not recommend this bar.
If a bar has “ultra dive” in it’s name, on a weeknight with no band, when you enter through a storefront and door with no windows, there better be a couple regulars that turn heads to eyeball you as you enter. If you are worthy, chill, order a pickle back, nod appropriately and blend, this place is exactly as you would hope for. Thanks for letting us partake!
Great dive bar. Pool tables little dance floor. Very cool place.
What was once an ultra dive bar has been renovated after a fire and is still an ultra dive bar. But with a new look, Belvederes is a Cornerstone for cheap drinks, awesome dance parties, and Smoke-Free atmosphere.
Traditional bar. Gives you the vibe of an elks lodge. Older pool hall style. Not gimicky. Its a true local spot. Older folks and cheap drinks make it super chill. I hear it gets busy on weekends though.
Fairly slow service, but that is to be expected in Pittsburgh on a Saturday night. What was unexpected was the manager randomly getting into a verbal altercation with one of his employees at the bar, in front of everyone. Or, when I went to pay my tab, and found out there was an automatic 20% gratuity added to the bill. I would have tipped anyways, and 20% is my going rate. But these sheizters literally wrote the tip of 20% in on my tab, which I was supposed to sign. I can’t imagine that is legal, but they keep getting away with it somehow. If you’re of with people literally taking money out of your pocket feel free to attend.
Great hip feel, modern, good music DJ was great. I went on an art showing and the artwork was amazing. Bartenders can be a bit more attentive, however.
Free pool and they took all song requests for the night! Decent beer prices. Had fun!! Keep in mind it is a dive bar :)
A dive only in name. The glorious return has seen this place rebuilt with an excellent stage for performance and two fully stocked bars. Pool tables and games too! One of the best venues in the city for music and drinks!
Usually a cover to get in but always a good night if you want to party. The DJ bumps and the drinks are reasonable.
I was not admitted to this club because I was too drunk? Even tho I had not had a drink that night. The bouncer did not like me and would not let me thru even though the manage was trying to talk to me. When you let you bouncers and people taking coats have more say than you your bad doesnt get much respect.
Horrible DJ killed the vibe.
Long line to get in. The staff is incredibly rude. The hostile architecture of the bathroom is offensive. And they charge a $10 cover. This place is a joke.
Friendly staff and reasonably priced drinks! Didnt order anything mixed but the bartender definitely did a good job from what I saw them do for other patrons! Definitely stop in!
Usually lively, often a wait on weekends. They have pool, darts, a bar. No longer have roller skating.
Always awesome themes I.E. Rihanna NIGHT, Beyoncé night, Down South Crunk night. Definitely space for everyone in your crew, lots of pool tables. Two👍👍
$2 Iron City tall cans got me in the door, good place for catching a Pens game in Lawrenceville... Ill avoid most events there though because its a bit hipstery for my taste.
If you are looking to just have some drinks and limited entertainment for a nice time out. Great bartenders!!! Friendly people to to chat with.
First time and felt very welcomed. Live, friendly crowd. Reasonably priced drinks. Great atmosphere. Will visit again.
A large bar / dance club with a front and back bar, pool tables, and a dart board. Hosts a variety of events, like punk nights, karaoke, as well as roller skating.
This place is awful. Sweaty bouncers that make you feel uncomfortable. The whole place smells like a garbage can. Strongly suggest avoiding at all cost.
Nice bar
Best place to dance in Pittsburgh with a great casual fun scene. Best DJs in town with great themed nights.
Let me save you your time, just go to straight Wendy’s across the street for 4 for 4. This place is ratchet, a waste of time, and over hyped. Rather than paying a cover to go in, they should be paying you because this place is whack. Most disrespectful staff I’ve ever encountered.
DJ googled Kendrick Lamar top 10 and that was the playlist for an hour. Hard meh.Amendment: it was Kendrick night, but it was still dry.
Nice place, the remodel after the fire looks great. I wish they had more beers on tap that werent fruity.
Moronic door staff, over complicated entry format. God forbid you have an out of town ID. Tourists should avoid. You have been warned.
Fun, medium sided bar venue with cheap drinks, good sound, and regular dj nights.
Its gone downhill since the remodel. I liked it when it looked like I was in someones basement. Still good drinks and fun crowd.
Nice sized dance floor, 2 bars, a billiards section and very reasonably priced drinks.
Its a great place to meet relax and have a great time. Super price drinks and great music
Best bar in pittsburgh. the theme nights are great and awesome staff
Hell of a bar, staff entertainment skate nite you will not be disappointed come enjoy
PBR special cant be beat. Free pool weekdays makes it a good happy hour spot.
Just a few short years ago this was the place... dont know about now, but cant beat the good old days. They warrant a 5.
Lots of fun stuff to do like karaoke, pool and pinball
Worst experience ever. Feels like I went into an unfinished basement and turned a cheap radio all the way up. Don’t waste your time coming here.
Chubby bartender = ultra aggressive. Should have been a cop. Gross.
Use to be a cool place; now it just a chesy place only worried about making $$$, its all about making $ of yuppies with mainstream DJs and poor service
Miss the old days but Im glad its still open. Cheap and great shows!
Cheap drinks, weird atmosphere...my friends and i felt very out of place but had a fun night regardless.
Cool, not-so-divey dive bar. Great place to see live music.
The line was around the corner, so we went to Caliente in Bloomfield and had a great time.
Always nice people and great bartenders, especially on Friday afternoon
Almost always jumpin on the dance floor. Girls amd cheap drinks
The name says it all, dive bar, but it is smoke free and huge.
Great dive bar and karaoke 🎤 on Tuesday nights.
Bartender with the pink ponytail needs fired
Great bar with nice music and chill vibes
Nice club more for the younger college crowd
Incredibly rude staff. Specifically the girl working the entry.
The most disrespectful workers I’ve ever experienced. This establishment is a joke.
Outdated mask and covid policy. Used to be a great spot.
Great price, great music, great service, great beer. great!
Cool bartender, fun place to stop
They always have interesting themed nights.
Now non smoking..... And kitchen free
Great cocktails, suave atmosphere.
Nice dive bar with rolling skating..win win
I enjoyed myself I kicked my brothers butt at pool
Very bad pp go there racist bar
Cheap drinks. Nice bartender.
If you want to be treated like a piece of dirt go to this bar
Wonderful people that make it a beautiful place.
This is dah berry vest Bart Ive ever dunned
Definitely earns the ultra-dive title.
