Hand and Stone Massage and Facial Spa

This location in San Marcos used to be Massage Green and when it changed names it didnt change much else, just got worse. Their online reservation system never works for repeat customers, you have to call. When you call you cant always get through because their phones are down most the time. They no longer offer water before or after your treatment. This was such a trivial but noticed courtesy offered by all the other spas I have visited. I made an appointment, was there on time to be told the masseuse just left because all of a sudden they had a stomach ache. That was it, goodbye. They gave me $10 free add on for my next appointment, whoopee. Made another appointment but missed it due to a emergency with my spouse. I called them 20 minutes into the appointment to let them know and they said no problem we charged you for 50% of the visit. Explain that math to me please. They miss and I get $10, I miss and get charged $60. Again this is not the first issue I have had with this location but it will be my last. Told spouse to never gift me visits to this location or chain again. Gave my certificate to my kids to use. At their age their current expectations are low for a massage.

Front desk lady was great. Sweet, calm and thoughtful. My masseuse Allie was very knowledgeable and professional. I booked another one with her.

My wife finally had a chance to spend some time on herself while I watched the kiddos. She drove a half hour each way for a rare opportunity to get a message. When she arrived the receptionist informed her that they had cancelled her appointment without contacting her, and then was very cold and offered nothing to make up for the mistake before asking her to leave. Recommend avoiding.EDIT: Reached out by email as requested per response below. Issue was not resolved, and was told I need to call a service center or show up in person to cancel the membership. Not allowing online cancellations may not be legal per California law. So, still recommend avoiding.

I was in town visiting friends and thought I would treat myself. I was lucky they were able to get me in at noon. From the lovely lady behind the phone call to walking out the door I felt genuinely cared about. I spent my first part relaxing & warming up in the infrared sauna before my therapist Amber took me to her treatment room. The music was relaxing and the Spa was calming & clean. The best part was Amber, she has healing hands! We discussed my needs before she started and she touched everything and focused on areas I didnt event stress about that I absolutely needed... thank you for giving me a wonderful experience, I appreciate you.

I visited from across the country and this was by far the best overall service I’ve had at a Hand & Stone; and I’ve had my membership for over 3 years! Tiana went above and beyond with my massage. She made me feel so comfortable and added in an amazing foot treatment and face covering with lavender. I’m truly so sad I won’t be able to see her more consistently! The young lady at the front desk was also super friendly and helpful. Definitely recommend!

The location is lovely and clean. The staff is warm and welcoming. Esther was amazing with my 83 year old arthritic mum. She was hesitant to get a massage and now she is a convert. Thank you Hand and Stone 💜

I had an unexpected day off, so I called to see if I could get a massage. They had a couple of cancelations and scheduled me with Stacy. Stacy is super sweet, friendly, and a great massage therapist. We remembered each other - she massaged me a couple years back. Do yourself a favor and go see her! Im already looking forward to my facial next week with Sam. I dont go often but it will be my third time seeing her. The fact that the same estheticians and therapists still continue working here many years later says a lot about this particular establishment. Great job, Massage Green SPA and team!

This was my first massage, and I was always skeptical of getting one because I’m super sensitive when it comes to massage pressure. And I always thought my body couldn’t handle massage pressure. But I decided to go with my significant other and get a couples massage. And it was super worth it! The spa was beautiful and so relaxing. The staff was so kind to us! My massage therapist was such a sweetheart and made me feel comfortable the whole time. I can say that I will definitely be coming back more often!!

It was my first time and I was honestly dissatisfied with the experience. The spa was very nice and inviting when I arrived. Ive had many massages before and worked in a spa that is membership based for many years, so I was surprised when they didnt have me fill out or sign anything. The therapist, who I still dont know her name, took me to the room and asked me if I wanted a full body. I proceeded to explain to her that most of my pain is in my back and trap/neck area due to carrying my baby around. She worked on my back for probably around 40 minutes. There were spots that she would hold while performing more deep tissue but was not applying any kind of pressure to where I could feel relief. I would just say that it was anti-climatic. She then flipped me over to begin working on my neck where I have a lot of trigger points. This is where I shouldve just asked her to stop, but I continued hoping that maybe she was warming up and it will get better. It did not and its really noticeable when someone is just trying to make the time pass by. At the end she didnt say anything to me, no advice, not water, just asked if I felt better. The girl at the front asked how it was, but didnt proceed to ask if I wanted to book something else or explain to me how it works at the clinic. Im sure they do have some great therapists, but needless to say I will never book another appointment with any green spa again.

Just WOW. Coupon on email so I came in for 90 minute. Had massage with Tiana and I will totally be back. She’s a wonderful massage therapist! One of the best I ever had. And I have to put a word in for Nicole at the desk. Super sweet and very customer service friendly. I heard her on phone and she has great communication skills. Kudos to the owner for choosing such great employees. Thank you all! Definitely a returning customer!

My experience with Alice was absolutely amazing. From the massage to the conversation. It was a seamless and enjoyable experience. I would highly recommend this place to anyone. But more than the place I would strongly suggest you book with Alice, she will take care of you. She even gave me a homemade serum which smelled and felt amazing. Overall one of the best experiences I’ve had when it comes to a massage.

I’ve been coming to this spa for 4 years now And LOVE IT! Normally I see Allie (who is AMAZING and I always try to get her), but today I met with Jay and was blown away. The stretches and attention to my tension areas was perfect. His althetic training background truly shined. It was a bit different then you’re typical massage, with more time spent getting blood flowing and movement but it was exactly what I needed!

I received this gift card from my boss for Mothers Day and it was so worth it. The environment when you first walk it is inviting and comfortable. I was greeted with a smile and then I met with my Masseuse. My room was inviting, and it had its sauna inside the space I will have to try. She worked on my target my areas as requested. Once done my body was totally relaxed. I would recommend hydrating the night before and prior because all the acid locked in your muscles are going to be released. I will be coming back.

Crystal is amazing! I am visiting from Chicago and I have a few physical issues. Crystal continue worked my body as if she was a part of my PT team in Chicago. After a brief conversation, she knew what to do w/o me providing details of my PT sessions. I feel absolutely great. When I return home tomorrow, my PT will be grateful I had an amazing session with Crystal. Thank you. Ill be back when I return next year.Also, the staff is wonderful!!!

Truly enjoyed the relaxing ambiance and the amazing services of massage green spa. Alice was amazing taking care of the deeper harder spots that I have struggled in releaving, and took amazing care of me. While Annie was great in providing my husband with a deep relaxing deep tissue massage which he has been needing and truly helped him relax and feel rejuvenated. The couples massage sessions are calm and relaxing while providing a relaxing and peaceful setting with your partner. I recommend their services and location to anyone that needs a relaxing and genuine relaxing experience with an amazing atmosphere and care to the needs of the body and person. No other spa has been able to relax myself or my spouse as easily, and I look forward to returning regularly in the future.

This place feels a little different after new ownership, but overall still a good value IF you get the right therapist. I prefer FIRM deep tissue massage due to my chronic back issues so I prefer Helene, Diego, Rusty, and Griselda. I just had Griselda today and she is TOP notch. She is always booked and I can see why.I will not say anything negative, but I suggest NOT to book a massage with a man whose name rhymes with Hay. He made me feel like a monster because of my birthmark. I was quite depressed from his mean comment, though I know that he was oblivious to it.Other than that one therapist, this is a clean place with nice amenities. I have had a membership for many years and if they keep good, professional therapists, I plan on staying on for a long time.

Had the BEST massage today with Stephanie! I truly felt that she customized the massage to my needs. I Highly recommend Stephanie! Ive been coming here for a while now and I also loved my Deep Tissue massage with Tabitha! She is amazing!

Went in today for massage and facial. The massage therapist I saw was Kadijah who was wonderful. She’s got a great balance of strong, yet relaxing technique. At the end I was relaxed and definitely loosened up in the problem areas we talked about before starting. My esthetician, Chloe was very sweet and took great care of my sensitive skin. She was thoughtful and explained everything she was using before applying which I really appreciated since I have issues with some ingredients! My skin feels hydrated and glowy and my muscles are loose and relaxed🙌🏻 Great environment and caring employees. The front desk (I’m so sorry I didn’t get your name!) was very busy, but made sure everyone was cared for in a timely manner!

I love this place. Everyone is so nice and everything is very clean. Massage green has great therapists and the infrared sauna is amazing. Tehya does such an amazing job I always feel so relaxed and refreshed after a session with her highly recommend!

I guess my fiance could sense the stress from my recent move and surprised me with a facial and hot stone massage today. I went in and the staff was AMAZING. My massage was A-1!!! I thought I would fall asleep but Kadijah was so relatable and personable, she had me lauging and swapping stories the entire time. And Sam!! My facial was by far the highlight of today. I learned so much about my skin that I feel compelled to completely change up my routine. My entire life I thought I had combination because everyone seems to these days..shockingly my skin was dry and thats why I was oily in my tZone. She recommended the best sunblock for my melanated skin and left me looking a BRONZE GODDESS 👸🏽 at the end of the treatment. Beat experience hands down!! Definitely coming back!!! You wont regret it.

This review is long overdue! Looking for the right pair of hands to melt your pain and stress away can be VERY difficult. Im pretty picky about massages (Ive had LOTS!), so I can recognize when a therapist has skill & technique. After a few sessions with random therapists at Massage Green Spa, I met my match; Jay is AMAZING! Hes a pro at deep tissue massage for the upperback, neck and shoulders. Hes probably good at everything else too, but as someone who works in front of the computer ALL day/surfer, I ask him to target these areas. Hes been a savior on days Im edging on a migraine due to this awesome/gentle stretch he does on my neck. His demenor is professional, friendly and laid back. The facility is top-notch too; clean rooms and friendly front desk staff.

There are a few great masseuses here but Tabatha is the best! She kneads out my knots but so relaxing at the same time. My only complaint is that I fall asleep and miss part of the magical experience. Please don’t book Tabatha so she has openings for me. 😉

Kadijah was absolutely wonderful! I’ve been battling extreme tightness and muscle tension for months and this is the best I have felt in years! As part of my treatment I tried the dry cupping which was excellent. I will be back soon! Kadijah thank you!

I had a 90 minute massage on 1/28/22 with Tehya. Pronounced like the Song Hey Ya! by OutKast. She was AMAZING!!!!! I almost didnt want to post praising her for fear Ill never be able to get an appointment again! 😪 But in the end she was so talented I had to roll the dice on availability. 😀 Best massage Ive had in years. Judy was my boyfriends, we did couples massage, she was amazing as well. Infrared sauna was ok. Speakers didnt work in it. But it was a nice way to prepare for massage and relax. Overall A+ experience.

Oki was AMAZING!! I am 33 weeks pregnant and carrying around this much weight just builds up the pressure and tension. Didn’t even realize how tight I was until I was done. The experience was beautiful and her hands are little pieces of heaven! Will definitely be returning.

I love that this place uses natural ingredients and essential oils. And the saunas are awesome! All of the bodywork I’ve had with Jay has been amazing. He really takes the time to work out all of the kinks.

I have been going to Massage Green Spa since they first opened and have had a membership. I cant tell you enough how much I look forward to my monthly massages, never have I been pressured into up selling or buying more than I need. I have bought gift cards for friends and family and treat my mom to a massage whenever she is in town from LA. (She hiiiighly recommends the infrared sauna). If you come here BOOK WITH JOSEPH he is the best massage therapist EVER! But beware he books up almost months in advance. Overall Massage Green Spa has become part of my monthly self care routine and I recommend it to everyone and anyone that is interested in Massage Therapy.

Nice facilities with tasteful decor. The massage was a mix of sports and deep tissue. It was my first time. I appreciated that the room, sheets and oils were fragrance free! I appreciate that I was offered water before and after my massage, but had to laugh at the 2oz cup.

Sofia is a miracle worker!! I’ve had a frozen shoulder for about 6 months and every time I come in she helps my range of motion improve with massage and stretching. It’s been key to my healing.

Got a Groupon here and got a sauna session with a couples massage. That was the best part with the cold eucalyptus towel. The massage was just ok, not great. Maybe I dont like their style. Instead of continuous rubbing with pressure, my massage therapist would put a ton of pressure in one place for a very long time and it was hurting instead of feeling relief. I did like that the sauna was private and both massage tables were in the same room. It is also very clean and smells great inside

Massage was good, nothing crazy and I had a package deal from groupon so I guess because I didnt pay full price, the service was what I was supposed to receive. I wasnt their top client so I was told to fill out my paper then have my message then sauna instead of sauna then message as the lady on the phone was telling the customer to do sauna first so youre loose. I also needed a facial but the lady who does them has limited availability and I was told after my message that I wouldnt be finishing my spa treatments today. So Ill go back to finish my services but wont be going back after that

So stoked on this place! Ive been there a couple times for massage, facial, and now there infrared sauna. The reception area is beautiful and the staff is super friendly and welcoming. Im looking forward to trying out a few different massage therapists as I hear they have 15 of them! I just signed up for their membership so I will be frequenting the place.

I have never had a bad massage here! Today I enjoyed a two hour massage with cupping by Tabitha and it was absolutely amazing! I highly recommended her!

Great for sports massage, especially with the essential oils and infrared sauna options! The staff has been very knowledgable and attentive to my aches and pains. The spa is very clean and offers a soothing atmosphere. Several of the previous comments mention the rigid cancellation policy; however, I found the staff to be very accommodating to a previous scheduling miscommunication.

This place was so amazing! Vday gift to my boyfriend. It was our first time and it was just what we needed. So professional and nothing like what we heard it would be like. We even got a complimentary infrared sauna for our first time. Staff was great and friendly. Cant wait to do it again.

I’m fairly certain that Kaaijah is an angel. I’ve suffered from chronic pain for as long as I can remember (hEDS + other things), and I can confidently say that this is the most relaxed I have ever been. I will absolutely be back🥰💖 thank you SO so much.

Terrible customer service, worst massage Ive ever had. Male therapist was yawning loudly the whole time, half the 90 minutes hes spent on my neck breathing loudly over face. Extremely uncomfortable, to say the least. Avoid this place. Damped sheets, mildew smelling towels, cold room.

I am giving 1 star ONLY because I liked my therapist and it is not her fault the front desk staff and owner have very poor customer service and people skills. I typically do not write bad reviews, I just keep it to myself if I have a bad experience but in this case being treated with such a lack of concern by first the supposed Manager and then further disregarded by the owner was so disappointing that I felt I needed to write something. In this day and age where customer service is key having a Manager that made the situation worse by her lack of concern and then an owner that did not care enough to follow up is not the kind of place that I can justify spending my money. I did like my therapist that I went to twice but as far as the rest of my experience I would much rather spend my money somewhere where people actually care about their customers concerns. I will be cancelling my membership ASAP!

Alice did a fantastic job of taking care of tight muscles after a weekend of moving. I feel very relaxed and much better. Highly recommended!

Consistently great massages. My Massure always suggests great aroma thearapy choices based on how I am feeling at the time of my massage. Like pain relief or relaxation. Also if you have the chance get the hot stones for deep tissue massage they are great. The only reason I gave it a 4 was had some issues with bookings when I first started coming regularly but the management was quick to fix it.

Had a membership plan which worked out well until we found out we were moving out of state, to an area that doesnt have a Massage Green Spa. We have $300 in prepaids that we had planned on using between March and May, since we were leaving in June but due to Covid-19 and the spa being closed we were unable to use our prepaids and now the owner is refusing to refund our money. She no longer answers our emails either.

The Sauna and Massage was awesome! Very peaceful. And my husband and I went for our wedding anniversary. My massage by Judith was the best massage ive ever has!!! Definitely going again!!

The owner is really nice and friendly. He really cares about the client. I have received great massages on every visit. The environment is very clean and relaxed. Very happy with my monthly membership.

They have major credit card behavior and security issues. When I was a member, they repeatedly charged my debit instead of taking it out of my prepaid account. Owner did two of them. She thought reversing tha charge was proper compensation. Then after not being a member for months, the debits started all over again. They blamed their own internal company. 2 months of debits no resolve.

Robbie was very informative and pleasant. His deep tissue massage technique relieved the tightness in my neck and shoulder. If I wasn’t moving away I would return and request Robbie again.

I went in today for a prenatal massage and Michelle was my esthetician and she was AMAZING! I will definitely be coming back soon!

Steer clear of this place. I was fraudulently charged for a membership for over a year that I never agreed to. When I called to get it all sorted out, they couldnt give me any explanation so I had to go to my credit card company and dispute it all.
