The atmosphere of this gay bar is excellent! I have enjoyed both my trips now. With ample space, good drinks, and great entertainment, youre sure to always find someone whos fun to chat with. I havent encountered a single customer here whos obnoxious or problematic, and the crowd has a good mix of all ages. The drag show nights are definitely top tier, and Id encourage you make one of them if you go.Other reviewers have had mixed opinions on the indoor smoking. As a non-smoker, it absolutely bothers me and I do leave with the smell of smoke clinging to me. However, its not nearly so bad as to be unbearable or problematic. I think everyone should give this bar a try, and its always okay if its not for you.

I came here for the first time because of a few specific performers I wanted to watch. The drinks were good, vibe was cool, bartender was awesome, and the drag show was top-notch. There were a lot of friendly people which pleasantly surprised me for it being a gay bar. Unfortunately, the cigarette smoking indoors proved itself a dealbreaker for me. It was overwhelming and I felt nauseous the entire next day. For that reason, I do not see myself returning. If they limited the smoking to an outdoor area it would be way better.

I never want to negatively impact a business, especially a locally owned business that supports the LGBTQ+ community, but the smoking inside is a huge concern to me. I get sick to the point of throwing up when exposed to secondhand smoke, and this caused me to be unable to stay for the drag show (I wish that I had read the reviews because then I wouldnt have gone in the first place). The choice to allow smoking in this establishment is pushing those with asthma/health conditions that can be affected by smoke out of the door. Its no longer a choice when you have to consider your health (this could be considered part of the greater discussion of disability rights in the US) This bar is not a safe space for anyone but Im glad that people who are content with a future of lung cancer can enjoy it

HUDSON is the greatest bar tender with a tender heart! Great drinks! Pool and darts and also great ppl!

Amazing decorations! My sisters seltzer came with a koozie!! I asked for my drink with lime and I got 3! I will definitely come back.

There is smoking allowed, but the few people that were partaking absolutely did not make the whole place smell. Bartender was great as well as the atmosphere. Check out the drag show 10 pm Wednesdays!

Hudson is the best bar tender here. He cares about you and really makes you feel welcomed even on a bad night. Come here and have a great time! It’s worth it. Also (; they have Kareoke nights and drag show nights where you can win free shots. Come on

We didn’t even make it through the front door with the smoke hitting us right in the face horrible experience had a friend visiting from out of town. Want to do a local scene and that’s what we get offered. I would recommend you run this establishment as fast as you don’t even try to drive.

I just moved to the North Houston area and really wanted to like this place but unfortunately as long as they allow smoking inside there’s no way I can come here. As soon as I entered, I was hit with a wave of smoke that immediately irritated by nose and throat and activated my allergies. It’s 2024, please get with the times.

This place is so inviting and fun. I’m non binary and my girlfriend took us here. We had such a good time and will definitely be returning. I wish they would put together an actual drink menu though. The ambiance here is amazing. I felt safe and met so many cool people. I will definitely be returning.The only reason I’m not giving 5 stars is because they allow indoor smoking and I am allergic to cigarette smoke. My lungs seize when it hits them. I see no issue with vaping as it doesn’t cause issues with folks with lung and breathing impairment.Side note: they offer complimentary female condoms in the restrooms and I thought that was really impressive and thoughtful!

I usually come here about twice a month. Tonight was my first night to come to the drag show. I would like to say I enjoyed it but I cant. For some reason the host felt the need to put a microphone in my face and grill me about my sexuality asking whether I was gay or bi. A persons sexual preference/Identity is there own business, not the whole bars. It was uncalled for and I wont be back anytime soon. Especially on Wednesdays.

The male bartender lost my card then had an attitude with me as if it was my fault and swore I lost it come to find out he did lose it and found my card soaking wet in the sink and still never apologized however the woman was very sweet and had to apologize for him.

First of all, Id like to give my thanks to the bartenders. It was a drag night. It was busy. My friend and I ended up getting carried away dancing, and she threw out her knee. Ended up on the floor- stuck as we had to call the paramedics. Instead of being Judgy, the bartenders were completely understanding and made sure she had space as well as Ive to apply to her knee as we waited for the EMTs to arrive. Thank you so much, you guys! You made that entire situation more bearable than it would have otherwise been.

There arent any other bars I would say I would go alone as a small women to just hang out and have a few drinks. I never have any problems with men being creepy. Karaoke nights are the best in my opinion and the drinks are always delicious. The only downside is there isnt any food served here

Ok, I love this place!First of all, most of the low ratings on this page are due to the indoor smoking but I LOVE IT. It’s so rare to find indoor smoking for those of us who do smoke so just let us have this one ok?Second, it’s small but it made it so much more intimate and friendly than the large clubs you usually find in the city. The people were friendly, and fun. The staff was great. The dancers were cute! We had more fun in this little local gay bar than I’ve had at the clubs in years. Thank you guys! We’ll be back next time we’re in town!

Great for local hang outs, love this place although smoky inside

Couldn’t breathe and smell of smoke ruined my clothes. They should allow vape smokeJesus Christ they can just go out side and smoke cigarettes. The place smells like an ashtray. There is no ventilation. I didn’t even see anyone smoking a cigarette. The place just smelled. I would go back if didn’t allow smoking but the smell ruined my clothes. It would have been fun and would be back for sure if the place wasn’t full of smoke. It was fun but not worth ruining my clothes. I guess they are after lower class clientele? There is no ventilation. If you are going to allow 10% of the guest smoke cigarettes and stink up 100% of the space YOU NEED GOOD VENTILATION! The 90% of us don’t want to reek of smoke for days after. I can’t get rid of this smell! I’d go back for sure but not after the hassle of the lingering smell.

Great small venue with DJ, drag and plenty of safe-space for anyone in or out of the LGBT+ community. Drinks are affordable and music is a good mix for everyone. Tonight we happened to be there for a lesbian wedding engagement, and last time was a huge drag celebration for a birthday (mine was also the same weekend) the only reason this didn’t get 5 stars is because it’s a smoking venue. I smell like an ashtray after a couple hours.

It was my 2nd visit to the Room. Unfortunately the Garage style drag show was overwhelming. I love a great drag show. There were few entertainers who were exciting to watch perform. Unfortunately the show was repeatedly difficult due to EXCESSIVE commentary by MCor host.!!!!!!! At many time there were 3 MC all using mics at same time. At times if was unprofessional and alot of side conversations. The volume and quantity of conversations was extensive. At times if appeared the show was personal conversations. It was as if it was their own private show and patrons were along for ride. There were few young entertainers who were impressive and definitely working to perfect craft of drag. Seriously the volume of music and the MC(repeatedly LOUD) was way too LOUD. I personally want to be entertained and leave after enjoying a good drag show and not have a HEADACHE.keep drag entertainming for all parties

I have been going here pretty often for the past month. I am straight and there are a few other straight regulars. This place is very opening and welcome and aside from Tuesdays is always full of life or events. The drag shows on Wed are always awesome and doing Karaoke with DJ Shawn is great on Thurs and Sundays. Everyone seems to know each other and if you are new they will welcome you with open arms. They have the best bartenders with Natalie and Chris who will always give you attention and get with you as soon as they can ( dont be rude bc it can get busy and the world doesnt revolve around you) They also have industry night for bar/restaurant workers to get a discount on already affordable drinks and drink specials every night. Basically this place is one giant happy family and if you come here you will not regret it! 5 stars well deserved!!!

We had eaten dinner a few doors down. My friend was so excited to see that this bar was located in this part of town as opposed to driving down to the Montrose. I agreed to give it a try.We walked into a little alcove with adverts and information. We opened the door and took a few steps inside. There was a woman behind the bar who flashed a huge smile at us. There was a man at the bar drinking and he seemed quite happy. The music was great, not too loud, so it was easy to have a conversation. There were pool tables, which my friend was very excited about. He loves to shoot pool.We only made it in a few steps. The stench of cigarette smoke came as us like a thick curtain of ick. I started to cough and my eyes watered. My friend gagged. We turned to look at one another and kept turning to walk right back out.As we approached the car, my friend wondered how it was that a place could allow smoking inside. I reminded him that this bar is outside of the city limits of Houston, so they could get away with it.Its such a shame that having a nice, quaint, well decorated bar with great music, pool tables and as many smiles as happy people, but we wont be able to enjoy it. And let me be clear. I did not see anyone actively smoking when we walked in. The cigarette stench was from the fact that they allow smoking. Itll take a week of cleaning to get that odor out if they decide to ban it like the rest of the civilized world.Very disappointed. So much potential.

Bartender Hudson is amazing , great drinks , great environment ; as a Transman , I really felt it as a safe space for me to honestly be myself. Last night was the first time I went and I did Karaoke same goes for my grandma. Can’t wait to go back (:

I’m always looking for a great local spot and I was looking forward to checking this place out. I read the other reviews about it being a smoke box but boy… that’s an extreme understatement.I walked through the first door and could not bare to go through the second door to enter because the smell of smoke was so stench, strong and just plain atrocious I had to do a quick 180 and leave.The owner has every right to target a specific clientele and he/she/they are definitely doing that. Very disappointing to see that a non smoker like myself isn’t welcomed. My assumption is that the owner smokes and that’s why smoking is allowed. With Ranch Hill Saloon closed, I thought this might be a good place in the Spring/Woodlands area but the search continues.

Room Bar is always a place I can walk into knowing Im going to get great service and a cold beer. As for Natalie her personal review is a 5 star! Upon arrival, there is plenty of parking, sign out side saying what is happening each niight of the week, clean parking lot. Walking in transforms you from Spring. Texas blah, to the Gay Haven we know and love as The Room bar. Inside is very clean, music playing was Spanish ironically, because that day I was with someone whos first language is Spanish. For the day after pride in Houston, it seemed to be lackluster, I wanted to see more. Maybe a Sunday pride party or something. 4 stars from me. The Room bar is the go to place for locals in and around Spring. Pump up Sundays Room Bar! It could be a place to end your week with a nice event or show, I would attend for sure.

First time going. It was before 10 pm so I got the sense the vibe hadnt picked up yet. A lot of regulars and inside jokes I seems. Still though it was a nice little bar welcoming of all people. Ill need to go once the place fills up to get a better sense of the place. For now though I would go again for sure.

I was looking forward to a nice night out with friends and grabbing drinks. We turned around as soon as the second door to the establishment was opened because the overwhelming smell of cigarette smoke was too much to bare! Hopefully they will reconsider their smoking policy or create an alternate space for their smokers to enjoy their activity so that all can have a good time.

Went out last night for my girlfriends first Halloween. We had a blast! The bartender (Natalie?) recommended a drink my girlfriend loved when she said she wanted to try something new. Everyone seems to know each other. The vibe was very much that of one big family and it felt incredible to feel free to be openly in love without any looks. (It was our first time visiting a gay bar.) We will definitely be regulars!

I adore this place. It’s not too loud, so you can actually talk and it’s fun and the staff are very nice. The drag shows are a blast and it’s a nice, safe place to be yourself and dance or chill or talk or whatever.

Sydney the bar tender was great, the drag show was a blast. Prices were very reasonable. Only down fall was the smoke BUT I’ll be back just have to shower afterwards lol

Had some time to kill before a meeting so we stopped in for a quick drink and ended up meeting Elton who was so welcoming, kind and just overall great. We will certainly be back not only to see the drag show but Elton as well! 10/10 recommend!

I gave this place at 3 I think it should really be at 2 at some point. There are times when I go in and Im greeted immediately and there are times I go in and I just have to sit and stare and wait. I understand the bar business because Ive been in the restaurant business over 30 years. I will say that every bar that Ive ever been two of this type is very very cliquish. Everyone seems to know everyone else that walks in the bar the bartender seems to know a few of the regulars. The last time I went was Sunday night and I felt kind of left out but when you go out by yourself thats just the way it happens. The good thing is Im more of a people Watcher than anything else so I was trying to watch the few people that were in there. If I gave them one suggestion I would suggest to these bartenders and any others that they quit paying attention to their friends and regular so much and pay a little more attention to some of the new people and the ones that very rarely come in. That can help to take the ones that very rarely come in and make them come in more and make the new people feel more welcome. You dont want to go into a bar and feel like youre totally being ignored because the bartender wants to talk to some of their Besties IE customers and Friends. Honestly thats the way I feel every time I go in there so theres your honest upfront review. Have a great day

Dont go to bars much, but I enjoyed myself here. I wasnt sure what kind of drink to order, so I asked the bartender if I could have something fruity and she made me a custom cocktail called the Barbara Streisand...no clue what was in it but it was good! I wish the music was a little bit quieter though, it was hard to hear the people I was talking to.

The bar tender was amazing. He had great jokes great service and great drinks. He was above and beyond. He gave us a great Experience.Hudson was very inviting for our first experience. We will come back.

This is not a hate post. I have bartender LGBT bars through my 6 years of college, and I have never felt like such an outsider as I did when my spouse and I walked in here. We were never greated, the bartender never even tried to talk at all... no is it your first visit .. no todays specials are absolutely nothing. Service was horrible, never asking if we wanted another drink...the only time we had anything that resembled a conversation was when we flagged her away from her friends. Needless to say, we will find other LGBT friendly establishments. Again, this is not a hate post. But if you are new to the area, I suggest skipping by this one

I really love the drink prices and very friendly staff. However this establishment is more of a mens gay bar then a lesbian meet up. Its comfortable though with couches, pool tables and darts. Id definitely come back during more less the end of the week/ weekends or certain events.

Have been here a few times. Nice. The place isnt layed out very well. Went on birthday and sit in an empty seat and thought a lady was going to beat me up for sitting in her section.Music was way, way too loud for such a small place.No parking at all the later it gets.Need better setting.Love the bartenders!Will go back

So me amd my girlfriend have always wanted to try a bar that wasnt on a moving ship and we got to say AN AMAZING BAR NOT to crowded and Hudson and Natalie were amazing bartenders The Barbara Streisand and Liquid Marijuana WAS AN AMAZING drink I recommend Trying them Out 10000000% THANK YOU GUYS we are possibly a bit tipsy

The Room Bar has always been an inviting place for us out of the loopers. It has a neighborhood hangout feel during the off peak hours.... but has no problem turning up the energy on the weekends as well! Natalie and her crew really try to make sure everyone has a great time! The drag shows and Wednesday bingo nights are full of entertainment. The DJS have a great array of music to fill any desire! Keep up the good work guys!

I like this bar a lot but I was harassed by some girl named Lauren who was clearly to drunk and was harassing my friends. I also dont like the fact I watched her do coke in a bathroom and when I said something to the bartender nothing was done about it because she was a regular

I had a fun time, however if this bar would put a little bit more money into the drinks I would change my rating to 5 stars. All of the drinks i ordered were not what i asked for. All of the drinks are replacements. The redbull was not redbull, the malibu was not malibu, and the Coca-Cola wasnt even coke. I could taste the difference in the drinks and I will not be going back. Also, the bartender was trting to tell me that im picky because im young. I may be young but i just wanted a drink that tasted good. I went to 4 other bars on the night i went to this one, and all of the drinks were what i asked for and tasted fine. This is the first bar i have ever been to where i had to return the drinks.

A fantastic little place to grab a drink with a lovey atmosphere.They have good prices and a decent selection.Lots of fun events with a good clientele.If this is the kinds of bar you are looking for, you cannot go wrong with this place

Fun place but I dont I think I will return, they added 40$ drinks to my tab because the guy who ordered them said I was buying them for him. I was never asked if that would be okay by my bartender and it was assumed so now I was left with a bigger tab to pay then what I ordered.

Natalie and Hudson are the best and will make you feel welcomed as soon as you walk through the door. Come by for a good drink!

It seems like a nice place to me, only two problems, being far away it doesnt get very crowded and the worst thing is that they allow smoking inside the bar, seriously, at this point in life??? Its a nice place, two main problems, the place was a little empty on a Saturday night, the other and the main problem to me, they allow people to smoke inside the plaque, seriously?

I went last Friday with a friend and I had a very pleasant night, the service is excellent. I will definitely return.
