I got a coupon emailed to me for a discounted Mothers Day massage. I went online to book it for my wife & mom, and it was a very disjointed process. In the end the checkout did not work so I decided to call the store.Once I called the store I spoke with a really nice employee (Brandon) who also struggled to book the gift cards. After about 20 minutes I was put on hold, and then the call dopped and I almost lost it. I tried calling back, but it went straight to voicemail. In the end it was sorted out, but I would say some of their back-end software is not working well. I have never tried so hard to spend $200 in my life. Hopefully the massage is worth it. stay tuned.
Update: 2 weeks ago The Now responded saying someone would be in touch after my review, yet no one ever reached out.Original review:This was my first massage here. The place is beautiful. Everyone was so nice, including my masseur. He was very friendly and I believe he had the best intentions, but unfortunately the massage was terrible. I left with my muscles still aching and covered in oil after the 80 minute massage which was actually 70 minutes because we started late. I decided not to complain about it and just got out of there, but this was one of the worst massages I’ve had and also one of the most expensive. I’m feeling pretty upset about it because I was just trying to do something nice for myself after a stressful week. I’m not one to complain but I wish I would have spoken up before I left. There was so much oil in my hair and on my clothes - he did not wipe any of it off after the massage. I had to shower and still didn’t get it all off. I got the now signature massage plus deep tissue but the masseur really did not address my knots. I felt like everything he did aaaalmost felt good. He really lacked intuition and my neck and back still feel tense. He didn’t get into my neck/traps area enough-it felt like he was just pinching my skin over and over. The work he did on my neck felt too close to the front of my neck and too high. The work on my lower back (a hard repetitive scraping from just above my glutes up to my middle back) was incredibly uncomfortable and not something I’ve ever had massaged before - and it didn’t feel good. And he didn’t really touch my glutes for more than a few seconds. He told me to speak up if anything was not great but honestly what can you say when your massage is just not that great? The beginning started off okay, it was a little relaxing, but it quickly went downhill. I’m very active, in shape, and in tune with my body and I’ve had a lot of massages and deep tissue work and this was unacceptable.
Painful Experience and Poor Service Follow-Up at the NOWI recently had an 80-minute massage at the NOW, which unfortunately fell short of relaxing or rejuvenating. Despite multiple requests, the therapist did not adjust the pressure, causing me significant discomfort. The result was not just a lack of relaxation but actual pain: I am now bedridden, unable to move my head to the left for almost a week and experiencing acute neck and back pain, necessitating medication and possibly a visit to urgent care.Furthermore, my attempt to address this with the management through an email has been met with silence for over a week. This lack of response has only increased my dissatisfaction. A gesture of store credit might have helped mitigate the situation, but without any acknowledgment of my complaint, I am left to caution others about my experience and advise them to consider other establishments for their massage needs.
I had a terrible experience at The NOW. After it, I would prefer to refer to this place as The NEVER. Some of the staff members are extremely rude and disrespectful, especially Brandon, who is simply the worst representative of a company I have ever come across in my entire. He should be nowhere near customers! In my opinion, he should not be anywhere near a business unless his position is toilet bowl maintenance. Brandon, you are disgusting!
Truly the worst massage I have ever had - and Ive had many many wonderful massages throughout LA in my lifetime. She started late, ended early, didnt adjust pressure when asked, massaged on my actual spine instead of along the spine, and worst of all didnt actually work out any knots. She just lightly touched various parts of my body and stayed in each spot for many minutes, as if trying to kill time. It was my first time at the NOW, and I got the $140, 80 minute massage. By the 10th minute, I wished it was over and I was so uncomfortable that it actually made me stressed out as it went on. Definitely not going back. To top it off, the employee there at the time said shed have the general manger reach out to discuss the situation. That never happened. Truly messed up :/
Marney Thomas is an incredible masseuse! She is patient, attentive, and really good at what she does. Would recommend her for anyone going to the NOW.
I received a gift card to here and even though it was from years ago they still accommodated me. The front desk experience was very nice. Heli was my massage therapist and she listened to my requests and took extra care to focus on my problems areas. It’s a very serene environment, and everyone made me feel comfortable. Solid option for a massage!
Jono is one of the best masseuse’s I’ve ever had - I get massages very regularly, he’s hands down my favourite in LA! An amazing deep tissue massage, he also has really nice, calming energy and makes you feel super comfortable. I almost don’t want to leave this review as it’s already hard to get an appointment with him, but he is so good!
Wow! Definitely exceeded my expectations.👍 well organized place👍 my massage therapist was truly strong!👍 the quality of service goes well with the price👍 if my massage therapist can really get my knots out and put me to sleep at the same time, I call it a pure magic
Alex was very easy to speak with and knowledgeable about the massage process. He asked me questions about myself and what I would like to get out of the session, and he kept everything very relaxed. Would recommend!
Absolutely lovely ambiance. Yves is AMAZING. I always request him because his hands are so strong so if youre like me and have so many knots, hes your guy. Customer service is also amazing. I had a few issues but they were quick to resolve it.
I absolutely love The Now. The space is so calm and beautiful, great products, and decent prices for great massages. It can be hit or miss with your massage therapist, so once you find someone who you like - stick with them. For me, that’s Kevin (at this location). He’s a phenomenal body worker and so kind.
The ambiance, decor, massage therapist, the smell, mood, the calm sound therapy and THE MASSAGE was incredible. It was a birthday, self care treat to myself and I enjoyed everything minute of it. When you call in to make your appointment, be sure to confirm that youre speaking to the actual location that you want to go to and dont be late. They emphasize that the appointment blocks cant overlap into someone elses appointment and your appointment will then be shortened. So happy I got there early so I could enjoy it in its entirety.
Solid massage studio! I’ve seen 4 different therapist here and each one has been able to provide quality care, address my concerns, and offer a relaxing, rejuvenating massage.
I’m really unsure of how any one has given this massage place a rating higher then three stars. It’s my second time getting a massage at the Now and I figured if I tried a different location it may be better. I was wrong. The first experience I had in Los Feliz was disappointing, unskilled massage therapist leaving much of my body unworked on. This was a similar experience but worse. She didn’t ask what I wanted focus on during our brief intake and she had zero flow. It was jarring and half of my body didn’t even get touched. I actually left angry at how ineffective and unsatisfied I was. When you’re looking forward to a splurge like getting a massage can be a terrible experience like this really puts you off. The front desk staff was very nice but totally over whelmed and I saw they had left a sticky note on the floor as I was leaving my booth asking my therapist to please not talk during the session. Which I thought was interesting. She was chatty but considering I was contemplating leaving my massage early it didn’t bother me. The set up is odd being in one room separated by curtains so perhaps being clear to your therapists that talking would disturb every one else in the spa would be more effective. I’m still upset the money was even spent on this “massage” and I highly recommend skipping the Now and going some where else. It’s hipster decor does not make up for the lack of quality massage.
I enjoy that the manager of this establishment listens to the needs of the client. I was there today and had a pressing need after my Massage began and the way she handled my need as a consumer was stellar. Her costumer relations after my need came up was BEYOND SUPREME AND EXACTLY what was appropriate for the circumstance and for that I’m greatful. We live in an age where once you order something many times you have to take what’s on the plate and that’s it. When someone is really heard and then embraced instead of just charged and released there is a spiritual opening. Some places once the package is opened you have to just keep it but the surprise and beauty of being dealt with with care is more than amazing. I believe this lovely beautiful place is run by heart and soul. I believe that makes it top notch.
Every time I get a massage at any of their locations, I always feel like its the best massage of my life. This was no exception. Desean is fantastic and so gifted as a masseuse. Get The Healer -- cant go wrong.
Excellent and very relaxing atmosphere with calming ocean wave sounds and very professional massage 🌊💆💆♀️👌
Probably one of the best massages I have had in years. The massage therapist, Stasha, was very attentive and alternated between working out knots and relaxing kneading. Sounds of the ocean were playing in the background, adding to the relaxation experience.
Super friendly front desk personnel! Adam assisted my friend with purchasing a gift certificate and had great suggestions for add on gifts for his wife! She loved it!!🤗Definitely going back for my own spa day!
Went to this place to take a couples massage. I paid for two fifty minutes sessions. We both take the session at the same time. My massage ends 15 minutes before my partner. Do not recommend.
I had one of the best massages ever with Kevin. I felt very safe, relaxed and comfortable. I really recommend this place and him. So good!
So grateful to have found this place. Heli is changing my body’s life by helping my tense, stressed, self relax and get some much needed love and rest.
Relaxing environment but not my kind of massage. I prefer a firm a deeper massage, but if light to medium pressure is your preference, you are in luck!
I’m 100% fully converted to NOW - the vibe and aesthetic are SO conducive to relaxation and the price is practically unbeatable.
I had deep tissue healing massage and I paid $100 with the tip, but my back had pain for 4 days after I left, I do not know if that was normal.
Such a wonderfully calm environment and very skilled massage therapists. I look forward to starting a membership here (:
Great massage, cozy setup, well organized. Will be back.
Most beautiful spa, great therapists , very good priced. Highly recommend it
Highly suggest this place for massage services, Kevin and Angela are my top picks for Massage Therapist.
Very nice staff and comfortable decor. Try a massage there at several locations.
Lovely atmosphere, kind staff, great massage.
Just a great message coupled with a great overall experience
Nice ambiance, massage was disappointing
Always deep tissue… always 80 minutes. Always The Now
Such a peaceful environment and great masseuses!
Gorgeous ambience and talented staff.
Everything about this place is amazing, esp Kevin!
Garrett is sent from the heavens. 10/10
Great Service
Wow this place is amazing, love it!
Like being in a cabana on the beach at night in Fiji.
Beautiful relaxing environment
Good atmosphere
I got a membership today and I am SO glad I did. Teresa was absolutely amazing! I’m an RN so I’m achy all the time lol. In a matter of 50 minutes, she was able to completely take the tension and pain away. I HIGHLY recommend her.
