Hand and Stone Massage and Facial Spa

On 8/2/24, I treated a party of three to hot stone massages at Hand & Stone-Wilmington, NC. We extend a heartfelt thanks to estheticians, Devin, Peyton, and Maria for their personalized and relaxing massages. I have to say, Devins personality and customer service were beyond words. He went the extra mile to concentrate on my shoulders and accompanying pressure points, performed a light knee stretch while on my stomach, and provided a hot towel wrap on my feet. I literally have never been that relaxed! Thank you ALL for making our ladies day out so memorable.

One of the worst massage experiences Ive ever had unfortunately (and Ive had hundreds of massages) Room is not comfortable, sheets are cheap and not soft... it feels more like a doctors office. My masseuse was clearly inexperienced and also finished almost 10 min early. when I told the front desk ladies they said there is nothing they can do. I told them to have the management call me and they never did. Reached out twice via email / form thing and heard nothing. Dont waste your money here. There are many other great places in Wilmington!

I would not recommend this place to anyone. I paid for nearly a year of service, of which I used maybe 2. I had my account frozen due to myself not being able to use the services. I work 6 days per week and have 3 children in my household so getting there is not easy for me. Today I was told my account was going to be removed. When I asked them to deactivate the account and refund the services I was threatened with legal action. I am not sure why I paid for nearly a year of services which werent used and then they come at me for even more money to remove the account. I will NEVER go to or recommend this facility again. It took MONTHS of me reaching out to them for them to even fix my account so I could schedule. Somehow my account was never linked with my email address. I kept being told by the front desk that they couldnt do anything and a manager has to do it. Months went by before a manager finally fixed the account. My 2 experiences there were not very good either. The building and waiting room felt cold. I do not recommend them as there are plenty of quality family run businesses in Wilmington

Danny was an awesome therapist; great pressure and very attuned to my requests. Checked in frequently to make sure I was ok with the pressure since it was very firm. Felt amazing afterward. Definitely recommend Danny. Front desk was very nice also!

I received a gift card as a gift. I called first to find out what the gift card was good for. After speaking with someone they offered to schedule me, but I wasnt ready at that moment and said Id call back. I immediately checked out Google reviews in hopes someone would mention a specific massage therapist, so that I could get the best service. After looking through these reviews I was kinda hesitant about it all... However, I wasnt going to let my gift go to waste. I saw a review that mentioned Laurel, and decided to book with her. I had a great experience- the front desk people were pleasant, I didnt feel they were pushy, I had no issues using my gift card and Laurel was great for a relaxation massage. Im glad I didnt let revent reviews scare mr away.

I had Michelle for my first facial ever. My experience with her was great. My friend took me there as a part of my bridal self care and my experience in the lobby was anything but great. The people working in the lobby were unsure about several store policies and could not answer any questions when there was an issue with my friends account. The customer service was terrible. I also got to listen to several other customers who had the same types of issues while I waited for my facial. Thank you Michelle for a great facial, but I will not be returning due to poor customer service and management in the lobby.

I would NOT recommend going here AT ALL. I paid for services upfront and was then signed up for a membership plan without my consent and was threatened to have my appointment cancelled if I didn’t give my credit card to hold it for them on file, but that makes no sense since I already prepaid and did not want a membership. AVOID this location, manager is not helpful; customer service of front lobby is poor - place seems like a SCAM.

I called and made an appointment. I drove 25 minutes to get there 15 minutes prior as recommended. I spent 10 minutes filling out personal information. Then the girl said, “Oh, there is one more thing you need to sign.” As I read the additional paperwork, it listed several health issues that prevented you from having this treatment. When I mentioned that I had one of the health issues, she said that she needed to get the esthetician. After waiting another 5 minutes, the esthetician came out and she confirmed that due to my health issue, she couldn’t perform the cryo facial. I understand that. What I don’t understand is that when I made the appointment, no one told me or sent me paperwork that stated that fact. I wasted over an hour of my time for absolutely NOTHING!!! That is REALLY poor customer service!!!

Update: I just went back for second time. I get gift cards here regularly. I always use them for service...I was told my value wasnt my value....it was the value but only covered a more expensive service....and that I couldnt charge an add on or leave tip...Ive done this at every hand and stone in America and that isnt true.The massage with laurel was amazing...I was even considering joining after I used up my gift cards. The lady who is independant to the left of checkout....made me not wanna come back....much less become a member.I feel like I lost the price I paid for the gift card...and also got scammed. I dont reccomend this place at all.I reccomend the therapist....she os amazi gBut this location...not so much.Just left. I had Laurel Byrdy. That was the BEST massage I have had in a verrrry long time. Perfect pressure hit ever spot. The technique was amazing! I genuinely feel relaxed and healthier! I do not know her and This is not a paid review lol. It was truly this good! I will be back! I go for massages alot and always try new places due to deals and because they are just ok...relaxing and I like them but never what this was. This is what I have been searching for! Wow! I may have to join the damn Hand and Stone membership now. It was THAT good. Thanks Laurel!

Highly recommend this place! My husband has gifted me a couple of massages and facials here and I have enjoyed every single one of them. I have also gifted my mom massages. I would recommend anyone to go and get a massage with Jessica, she will not disappoint. The areas are cleaned and spotless.

I really enjoyed the basic facial experience. Michelle would explain the products as she went. Friendly and relaxing experience.

These people should be ashamed of themselves. I cancelled my membership due to constantly raising the monthly fees and was charged once more due to their 30 day cancellation policy so I had one package left. I was never told that I had 60 days to use the package. I called this location to book a facial with my last package and CONFIRMED with them that it was still available. I was told that the package was still available and that they would go ahead and add it to my appt. I also confirmed this again when the appt was confirmed two days later. When I arrived I was brought back 15 mins after my appt time, the facial was fine, but when I went to check out I was extremely shocked to find out that I didn’t actually have a package and had to pay full price for the facial. I asked why I was told there was a package and they said there was nothing in my account and it expired in January. I continued to ask how it showed I had a package just two days ago and now it’s gone. They said “sorry for the confusion” and then asked for $179. Not only was I cheated out of the money I paid for the package but now I am out the additional money for something I would have never booked had I known I didn’t actually have a package. Zero customer service, no offer to make it right, no discount, nothing. I also witnessed two other people cancel their membership due to this company only caring about money and not their customers. I’m absolutely appalled by the experience and would never recommend this place to anyone.

The massage was good. The facial was good too. But not great. Didnt like how checkout took soooo long because the girl kept complaining about how they had a new system and didnt know how to work it. I also didnt like that they advertise the Christmas in July gift card with a value of 99.95 but then only apply it to 1 service, considering I was a new client and my Massage was only supposed to be 59.95 but I couldnt use what was left over to apply to my facial. Also they were SUPER PERSISTANT about a TIP. I tip for GOOD service, not mediocre.

The massage was okay and come to found out the facial lady who did my bf’s face gave her personal number to him. wow you know the rest. Smh

Go see Leon. I’ve been coming to the Wilmington location for 10 months now and the team is great. However, today I had one of the best therapists. Leon really worked hard on my tight neck and shoulders. My hamstrings were a hot mess too. But Leon was fantastic. Thank you. Already booked again.

Clean establishment. Staff was very kind. I was not a fan of my massage therapist, Laurel, she was very sweet but I asked for very firm pressure and it felt like she was just rubbing oil on my skin. I left with a headache and felt worse than when I left. I would return to the facility but would not go back to this therapist.

Had my first facial with Jessica this morning. She was really knowledgeable about skincare and the whole process was super comfortable and relaxing. Will definitely be back!

I am a member and absolutely LOVE the facials from Morgan! My skin always feels and looks amazing and she takes extra care to put my mind at ease provide me with product recommendations and routines for my aging skin. I can’t recommend her enough!

Don’t waste your time with this place. I recently canceled my membership due to every month they canceled my appointment due to staffing issues, and it’s very difficult to reschedule due to nothing available. My last session I was shorted to a 40 minute massage. The lady that did my massage was maybe in her 70s an just sat in her chair and massaged the same area. You can definitely tell she didn’t want to be there. That place definitely has some issues going on there.

Jessica was a God Send. I had to change my appointment within 24 hours and they were able to accommodate me. Alyssa was very helpful at the front desk. Will definitely be back!

I experienced my very first but definitely not last facial at hand and stone Mayfaire Town center on April 19th with Jessica and I loved every minute of it. My wonderful sis gifted this experience to me as a birthday gift and well now I feel like it’s a luxury that I never knew I needed. Thank you, Jessica for making my experience a great one and for filling me with so much knowledge concerning my skin care. I will be back.

My son purchased a $120 gift card for me as a birthday present. After looking at the website and speaking with the receptionist at length on the multiple services and options I decided on a deep tissue massage and a hand wrap, which still didn’t equal the value of the card. When I arrived for my appointment I was told I was not allowed to get anything extra that this was strictly a gift card for a deep tissue massage only. When I questioned this the receptionist gave me some explanation that made NO sense. The exact same massage I received is valued at $79.95 and I was not allowed to use the remaining $40 that my son paid for! This is not right! Why was I cheated out of money or services that were paid for in advance?

If you are looking for a knowledgeable and extremely talented esthetician, please look no further than Michelle. I have been going to her for three years and I have always left feeling like she did an amazing job. She explains what she is doing clearly, she asks about skin concerns, she gives recommendations, and she always asks if you are comfortable with what she recommends . She is not pushy with products, but every product she has ever recommended to me, has worked extremely well and helped my skin. My skin has improved immensely since when I started seeing her monthly. Thanks for everything Michelle!!

I have mixed feeling about Hand and Stone. Booking was very difficult. I was given a gift card for two services, but the gift card didnt have a number or anything on it. I had to ask the gift giver to call Hand and Stone to sort it out. On the day of my services I was a little late (totally my fault). Reception did not help me out, I felt like they were taking their time to get me checked in. The massage therapist was fantastic and did a GREAT job. My facial was also good, however this is where they begin to upsell you non-stop. She tried to sell me a $200 addition then when I said no to that, was pressed into a $50 addition. It sounded like Id get no treatments at all if I didnt agree (it isnt clear what is included in a basic facial). This really ruined the relaxing, stress-free experience I was hoping for. She also tried to sell me a face cream. Then at check out I was bombarded with half-hearted sales pitches. It sounded like there would be a discount if I signed up for my next appointment but no one could explain what that discount would be in relation to the cost of my services and the value of the gift card. I was really confused and defeated by the time I left.

Josh met all of my expectations of a therapist from beginning to end. He truly has a gift in this field and is an asset to hand and stone. Ive never left a massage feeling more complete and on my way to recovery than I have with my session with him. I will be rescheduling with him in the future and hope to find him if he ever leaves. Truly exceptional and truly gifted.

I’ve had two massages here so far and looking forward to more! My first masseuse was honestly a little rude in the beginning, but the massage was not bad. I’m glad I tried again with a different person because I had a much better experience the second time around. Sometimes it takes some trial and error to find the right fit, as with most things.

My facial from Kayla was wonderful. She took her time and pointed out my problem areas. I would definitely go back to get a facial from Kayla its been 2 weeks and my face still is glowing!

I booked an hour prenatal massage along with an aromatherapy scalp massage and my total time there was 30 whole minutes. The masseuse was an older lady and she gave me a scalp massage for about 5 minutes and then complained that my hair was so thick. After that the prenatal massage was less than satisfactory and she rushed through it. For the amount I paid which included a decent tip this experience was quite disappointing. I’ve never booked a massage for an hour and got less time than that. Would not recommend coming here. I emailed the business to rectify the situation and will update this review if they respond.

Lindsay was very professional and nice! She made me feel very comfortable and the massage was wonderful! I really appreciated the way she intuitively focused on the areas I needed most.The facility was gorgeous and greatly added to the experience. The signature coconut water is such a treat. I only wish I lived close enough to purchase the monthly membership!

I have tried many different facial experiences throughout the Wilmington area (I have acne prone skin) but I have never had a reason to write an exceptional review until now! I have been going to Michelle for my facials for almost 2 years now and I will never go anywhere else. She always takes the time to assess my skin and customize the facial to my needs. Shes very up front about the pricing and makes sure youre comfortable. She always walks me through the process and products so I know exactly what Im getting, how it will help my skin, and what the final price will be. Ive never come across a more transparent and caring esthetician who truly wants to improve your skin! Im only taking off one star for the front desk. I have had some negative interactions with them, however it seems those specific employees may no longer be working there. Overall, I cant recommend Michelle enough for a customized and affordable facial from an esthetician who truly cares! With monthly facials, she has cleared up my skin and given me so much confidence!

One and done. Without going into a detailed explanation, it was a PAIN to try to schedule over the phone as they RARELY pick up the phone. That was my first frustration. My MIL got me a gift card for a prenatal massage which I was counting down the days for (had to wait about 2 weeks due to limited availability of the therapist). I am very disappointed and based on other reviews I see for prenatal massages at this location, this is the norm. The only person that does prenatal massages is a lady that is about 75 years old and hunched over. I had to lay on my side for the massage which did not allow her to do a great job. However, her pressure sucked. I understand that she said she needed to avoid certain trigger points and stay at a “medium” pressure but I get more pressure on my back from my shower. I had told her to focus on knots in my neck and shoulders and to work on lower back and glutes to loosen up and relieve my tailbone pain. She never touched my glutes. The closest she got to my lower back was lightly petting my love handles and said “that should help with the pain.” She spent a considerable amount of time basically petting me. I had told her I preferred firm pressure and to get knots out. At one point, she found a knot in my shoulder and commented “you’ve got a big knot there” but then moved on. I would have liked to have some stretching done or maybe she could have massaged my neck and shoulders better if I laid on my back. I’ve had other massage therapists do that. I get more tension relief from using my massage gun on myself.I feel like I came out more stressed than when I went in and I’m really disappointed that all of my tightness is still there. I understand that there are certain precautions but it seems that every person who has spent money (or been gifted) on a prenatal here has been disappointed. We are looking for pain and tension relief, not a light petting. If the front desk would answer the phone, they could atleast warn people that the prenatal massage therapist uses very light pressure.

Had the best experience getting a facial with Michelle! It was super relaxing, professional, and informative. I would highly recommend anyone to stop by. She was very tentative and sweet. The Salon is very clean and all staff were extremely pleasant. LOVED my experience, will be coming back!

I dont normally do this, but Ive tried calling to speak with a manager to no avail. I purchased a prenatal massage gift card for my sister for Christmas she waited until she was super uncomfortable and about to pop to schedule an appointment, she had to choose a certain date as only one massage therapist was trained to do this massage. When she arrived and checked in she found out her massage therapist was very sweet but a older female. My sister already knew the therapist wouldnt be able to release the tension she had built up and she knew she couldnt ask for anyone else because no one else had the training. She wasnt even able to get comfortable on the table to start. As the session ended I had included a generous tip for the massage therapist as I didnt want my sister to pay a dime. When she was checking out she was told they couldnt take a tip from the gift card, (even though when purchasing the gift card I was asked if Id like to included a tip ,to which I said yes.) So she told the customer service person she had no need for the remainder on the card as it was intended for a tip and she knew after this experience she would never return. Im disappointed because I was trying to help her with stress and this experience only exasperated it. I hope this review helps deter someone who is looking for a prenatal massage, or helps hand and stone do better.

Thank you for asking for a review. My two daughters and I spent a day in Wilmington and one of our visits was to Hand and Stone. They had a nice introductory price for those not having been to hand and stone before. Two of us had facials and one had a massage. All were good and a nice hour of our day. The facials (I had not previously had a facial and didn’t know what to expect) were OK. The only negative was the amount of time the technicians spent on trying to “sell” either products or additional upgrades. Both did this so thinking it is a business expectation rather than a technician choice. The massage was reported to be great and the therapist really worked on problem knots in the shoulders and back. Overall, we had a good experience.

I moved to Leland about two years ago and upon arrival I looked desperately for a decent spa. I’ve had countless facials from mediocre estheticians in my lifetime and I’m very picky. But I feel if you splurge for for a Service you should get what you pay for and Michelle is the absolute best. She goes over and beyond. I have NEVER had a bad session and I’ve been seeing her now for about a year. I always look forward to my monthly session with her. Hand and Stone is lucky to have Michelle on their team.

Its always a relaxing experience at Hand and Stone Massage and Facial. I was lucky enough to be gifted both a massage and facial. I really like that they have a text service to remind you of your appointment and to confirm whether you can make it. The massage was super relaxing and I could tell my therapist worked on some knots, I felt them the next day! I received a comfy robe and was whisked off to my facial. I felt very comfortable with my esthetician whom had a vast knowledge on the products she used as well as the care I needed. I took her advice and got an add on to remove dark spots. I can definitely notice a difference! I will be booking again in the near future and cant wait!

I had a cryofacial with Morgan today. I couldn’t be more pleased! Morgan is personable, friendly and did a great job. The deep wrinkles around my eyes are much improved. I will definitely be going back to see Morgan again!

I am a member and have been using services at this and another location for a couple of years my last two visits were unacceptable! The service was fine it’s the reception that is the issue. You go to relax not be stressed out. My previous visit the girl had issues figuring out how to book. She called me 6 times in an hour the last time she just hung up. The most recent visit the young man failed to acknowledge my presence at all. I finally sat and waited meantime 4 people filed in and he assisted them before me. After I came out it took over 15 minutes for him to check me out. I had a lot of credits built up but yes he struggled with how to apply them. I told him I would be paying cash for tip. He ended up charging two separate cash transactions. I asked for a receipt and didn’t get it. Frustrated I left. I got into my car to be alerted by my cc company of two fraudulent charges. He charged two amounts to a credit card on file for my membership without my authorization. I again went in and he was rude and belligerent. I said that’s not okay. He raised his voice at that point I said I am not doing this. My friend proceeded to talk to him and told him to lower his voice and fix the issue. We asked for a manger and we’re told she would call back. We called two time and finally received a call. She wasn’t even able to explain what was charged or why. No explanation for the unauthorized credit card use and she could show but one cash transaction. I told her check her video and see two cash transactions. No deference and or care for the hours of wasted time and frustration incurred. Not worth it save your stress!!!

First time at Hand and Stone and I was very impressed and satisfied with my experience. I received a facial from Meghan that was the best I’ve ever had. She explained what she was doing and why, and most importantly she gave me suggestions for maintaining and caring for my skin. Over all five start treatment.I also received a massage from Winnie, another great experience. Excellent massage therapist with great skills at getting me to relax and unwind from my travels.I will recommend both of these lady’s to all my friends and family and also Hand and Stone

I usually love going to Hand & Stone however, my last visit was horrible. I received a Gift Card that i wanted to use on one their Valentine package, it also came with a free facial gift card. It was an ordeal to schedule. I was told i could not use my gift card on a gift card package, there was no information on this. The receptionist, i believe her name was Gracie called her manage and they said that this would be allowed and she said she would note my account. The day of the appointment no one could figure out the payment and i was even interrupted during my spa appointment just to figure out what i would owe and was advised i could not use my gift card. The massage and facial was great however the staff is not on the same page and when i went to check out there were no notes in the system. Long story short i did not get the package or the free facial gift card. i was told a manager would reach out but i have yet to hear.

5 stars for Michelle! She is truly the best esthetician I have had! Ive been a member of Hand & Stone for over 2 years and have seen many different therapists and estheticians for massages and facials. Michelle is absolutely phenomenal at what she does. She is honest, compassionate and truly cares about her clients and what she does. She is very knowledgable and I truly trust her professional opinion. She made me feel so comfortable, even when my skin was not at its best. I have had a few issues with the front desk employees (overcharging my credit card, delayed refunds for said-overcharging, canceling my appointment- likely accidentally- and rebooking someone else in my time slot then blaming me for the cancellation once I showed up to my appointment), but the employees have always been kind, despite some issues. I was about to cancel my membership after the last front desk issue, but after meeting and seeing Michelle, I cannot. I used to also love Chris, the massage therapist, but it looks like he has since moved on. In summary- 5 stars for Michelle (more if I could). Perhaps 3 stars for this specific spa.

Absolutely poor professional service. My friend booked a whole APPOINTMENT for today to get a facial. She had 2 glasses at brunch before her appointment today and her masseuse Hannah Rae cancelled her appointment because she had a couple of glasses. I have known plenty of girls to get facials after brunch at this place .. this is just unprofessional. Would not recommend booking an appointment, spend your money elsewhere!

Worst experience. I was given this massage as a gift so I could enjoy a relaxing time. The front desk was confused at the beginning and the end. The massage was booked improperly, so prior to the massage I had to listen to the staff go back and forth trying to figure it out. They finally realized I was sitting there, even though one of the staff members told me to have a seat and she would check me in. I wasn’t given any intake papers. Almost 10 minutes after my appointment time I was taken to the back. The massage was terrible, no pressure and couldn’t relax. The lady was talking for the first 15 minutes. The stones were not hot, just warm, and no pressure. It felt like a body rub. Also, I felt her nails scratching me throughout most of the massage. She was very nice, but it was not a good massage at all. After the massage I had to again deal with the confused front desk staff. The manager was nice and listened to my concerns. I was dumbfounded when she asked if I would come back if she guaranteed a good massage therapist. Ummmm.... shouldn’t they all be good? Not sure of the cost but looking online it appears as if it was $100 or more massage. Why would I ever pay more than $100 for something that was terrible. Though she was kind, she didn’t really do much to help or get me to stay with the company. They also asked that I sign the intake form on my way out.... I’m no thanks, you should have had me complete that prior to the massage. I would recommend everyone go elsewhere... I also asked for the managers phone number she told me there was a regional manager but wouldn’t give me the number. Hoping someone can call to discuss this unfortunate experience and hope that changes are made.

Tried this spa for my own birthday present. The experience was delightful. Sam greeted me at the front desk and was very personable, friendly and efficient. The facility is clean and welcoming. Rachael, the massage therapist, was professional and accommodated my request. I do recommend the hot stone massage, a fabulous relaxing and therapeutic experience. Will return for a facial and consider their membership program, a monthly reward to myself for 2019!

I had the opportunity to visit the Hand and Stone Spa at Mayfaire, unfortunately my expectations were not met, and I had what to me was a very uncomfortable experience. Without going into great detail, I want it to be known that the experience on halloween night was not pleasant and relaxing.However, the staff was exemplary in the way that my situation was handled. Carter went out of his way to call and ensure I knew I was not forgotten on the Spa Managers day off. Today I spoke with Nicole, the spa manager, and she was ever kind, genuine in her concerns and sincere in her apology of which I appreciate.I would like to compliment the staff of this spa, I especially enjoyed my facial with Michelle. Michelle is very knowledgeable in the products she is using and the skin care recommended products for purchase, as well as giving a positive atmosphere and ensuring my comfort during the service. I look forward to another visit to this Spa.

My husband scheduled a massage for me for Valentines. The actual massage from John was great! I have been thinking about scheduling a massage once a month because my body has so much tension and so many knots. I was convinced that I would start a membership once I went to the front desk to check out. I assumed that they would ask me if I wanted a membership since that is what they did to the man that came out before I went in. I was not asked if I wanted to get a membership nor was I asked if I wanted any water while I waited. But others was asked if they wanted water while they waited. I hate to not go back because John was really good but I refuse to go where Im not wanted.

Each therapist Ive seen has taken me on time, Ive yet had to wait beyond my scheduled time. Ive seen 6 of their therapist, all are good, 3 have been exceptional. I especially like the technique and attention spent with my problem areas during my last visit. I will definitely be scheduling her again as long as our schedules match up. Thank you Rachael!!

Had a lovely and much needed facial here. My gal was a delight and made my skin glow. (Hanna Ann I believe, my apologies if your name is wrong) the ft desk was helpful and quick. I wish there was one in my area the gal checked but nope 🥲it must be an employee incentive thing it was a little aggressive but I get it. I would have signed up if it was in my area 🥰The products they use are nice and high end. The space it’s self is an environment that is calming and very clean. Thank you!!

My wife enjoys this place. They’ve messed up her appointments more than once though. She’d still rate it high though.I however rate it one star because of their incompetence at handling billing. My wife has tried to cancel her automatic renewing plan at a minimum of three times. The charges keep coming. The first time they have excuses about it needed to stay open so she could use her built up appointments. The next times they said it would cancel and wouldn’t be charged again. It was charged again... and again.Now I have to go through the hassle of canceling my debit card to stop them from taking money they aren’t approved to take.

I had a wonderful experience at Hand and Stone Spa in Wilmington. The ladies at the front desk took great care of me and answered all my questions. Mary Anne was my massage therapist and she was great! She made sure I was comfortable the entire time. I will definitely be returning and recommend it to anyone looking for a relaxing massage!

Starting off with the receptionist Elizabeth was amazing!!!My son wanted to do something nice for me for my birthday. So he got me an appointment for a massage. An hour massage. It was 40 minutes. We also put in the address for the GPS it took us to Ulta location we couldnt find it. So I arrive, the person I was appointed to was not at all a person who cared if I was getting a good service. I had never had a massage before. I was super stoked for this. I wasnt asked for anything, no upselling, no nothing. I asked for firm, Once it started to hurt at my shoulder I Apologized that I might have made a mistake in asking for firm. She then said firm is firm. I tried a few times to mention being uncomfortable yet I was the one apologizing. I feel bad my son had to hear my honest experience then feel bad for doing the nicest thing for me for my birthday. Hopefully someone can make it right. Happy New Year

I am new to town and looking for a good place for a massage. I scheduled a 90 minute massage at this location. I arrived 20 minutes early to fill out their paperwork. My massage started 10 minutes late. The therapist was nice, but spent more time draping me than massaging me. If you are afraid of the human anatomy you probably shouldnt be a massage therapist. Maybe this is the companies rules and not the therapist. Then things were moving very fast and I was asked to turn over after a short time. The final ten minutes was spent with her tapping on my face. Not a fan. So then the therapist says youre all done. I will be outside. I sit up and look at the clock an its only been 50 minutes. I start toweling off all of the oil, stark naked and the therapist walks back in and stands there looking at me and says, Im so sorry, you were supposed to get 90 minutes. Do you want me to keep going? I said no thank you. Ill be right out. So much for draping. I left a tip on the table and went out to pay. The girl at the front counter apologized for the mix up. I said thats ok, the massage wasnt very good anyway. She apologized again and then told me that she wasnt going to charge me for the visit. Great! Then she asked me if I want to reschedule. I said, maybe later. Then she proceeds to try to sell me a massage package. I said no thank you. Bad timing. Not what I expected from a well known establishment...

Winnifred was amazing! Id go back to her again. It is a corporate location so I anticipated being asked if I wanted to sign up for a monthly membership. But they should do that before your massage - I honestly just wanted to pay and leave. But the massage itself was great and Id pay the non-membership price to go back to her.

I had such a wonderful experience. First of all, the staff was so amazing. When you walk in you’re welcomed by smiles and very compassionate people. The surroundings are immaculate, with black and white photos of the beach themes. Bathrooms have noPaper towels, but clwash cloths for your needs. I was using my spa finder birthday gift and had a full body massage with eucalyptus aroma therapy added on to my session. It was such a great session I signed up for the program

I had the pleasure of receiving a massage and body work from Laurel. She listened when I told her about my problematic areas, and was diligant to address these areas during the massage. I felt like I was on cloud 9 upon leaving. The facility is immaculate, with all the bells and whistles. I love the bed warmer and cozy clean linens and blankets. All the staff I encountered acknowledged me with a smile, and had a warm presence. The coconut water that was offered was a great touch! I will def. recommend to my friends, and will be returning!

This was my 1st visit and I will absolutely go back! Jessica was AMAZING!!!!! She made me feel very comfortable and it was very relaxing. I had a great experience from start to finish. The front desk staff were very friendly and professional. I’m looking forward to my next visit!

If you are looking for a firm massage, dont use Laurel. Focused in one area for the duration of the massage and did not do full body as was listed in the massage description. Front desk/reception staff was lovely and complimentary coconut water was nice, but complete waste of my time and money. Might be my fault for requesting a same day appointment, but I did specify needing someone with strong/firm hands and essentially had oil rubbed on my back for the majority of the massage. Nice spa but was sadly disappointed by my experience.

The message therapist was wonderful she released my frozen shoulder and returned feeling and movement into many parts of my body. She was very educated in her trade and educated me as well as helping me with a few injuries. I highly recommend this place I sont have enough words to Express my gratitude and thanks for the wonderful services and customer service that was provided from the time we walked in to the time we left. They are really really a great group there.

Absolutely recommended!! I had the rejuvenation package which included a 1.5 hour massage and a 30-40 minute facial! I not only walked out feeling great but learned things I didnt know. I had the pleasure of being pampered by Makenzie for my massage and Maddy for my facial. I have a bunch of samples to try for my dry skin also I decided to become a member so I get to get a massage or a facial once a month!

I have had several very great massages but the last one was terrible. The masseuse seemed offended that I only wanted a back massage and requested the hot stone upgrade. Her finger nails were sharp, she made awkward conversation, she started 15 minutes late but finished at the scheduled time, and it was overall not even a good massage.I would give 1 star for this last time but I have had much better massages there in the past. Hopefully this employee will be coached.

Came here for same day appointment so I guess i can’t be too critical ... my prenatal massage was not good.... I asked her to focus on certain areas and she proceeded to work on my whole body and areas I didn’t wanted worked on. Not only that, I requested firm pressure, and what I received was a back rub , hardly any pressure at all :/ on top of that I was booked for a 60 min massage and she cut my massage by 20 minutes!!! We didn’t start until 4:10 , I was scheduled for 4pm... and she wrapped things up at 4:50.... I felt super cheated. Plus the last 10 minutes involved her just pushing on my body and no massage at all ???? All in all I wouldn’t go back, i would go somewhere else where they actually listen. I’ve had plenty of prenatal massages and this was by far the oddest, most disappointing massage I’ve received. The ladies up front were really nice on a positive note and the ambiance was good .

The men give great massages here, very professional and firm. I dont like sissy hands for a massage so I didnt get any women. I did sign up for the monthly pass however when I went to cancel it I knew I had to do one more month which was fine but then after that one month they still billed me! So I called and they asked if I had a copy of the paperwork I signed saying I wanted to cancel it but I wasnt given the option and they didnt have a problem keeping up with my card info to charge me so why would I think to ask for a copy of my cancellation?!? It took around 5 days or so but I finally got my money back. Also my mom referred me and like 3 other people who all put her name down on the sheet and she never got her points for the referrals! When she asked they said they would have to call corporate. She kept asking and kept getting the same answer month after month. So she too has left.

I booked a facial (my second one ever) with Michelle W. after she conviced me to give facials another try after having a terrible experience at a different spa in town. I am SO glad I trusted her and her experience because I LOVED it! Every step was explained to me while she was doing it and she took the time to answer my questions as I am such a novice at facial care. I was educated and relaxed at the same time and my face felt MARVELOUS afterwards. She had me so happy that I signed up for the membership 😁 Massages or facials every month, yes please! Thank you Michelle!

This is a very nice place & smells really good walking in. This was my first time their. The massage was pretty good except she kept on the same spot over & over on my shoulder blades for what seemed like forever. It was getting sore when I said to the girl that it was starting to hurt. I would like to try someone different the next time.

This was the worst facial I have ever had. The facial did not start until 5:15pm and was over at 5:50pm. The first thing the racialist did was try to get me to upgrade $60 for what she “believed I needed”. When I said I don’t have the money she said that I would get the “basic, run of the mill facial then”. It was terrible. Absolutely terrible. I’m pretty sure she was eating while my eyes were covered also. I am so upset that I was given a gift card for this and this was the service I received. I am a stay at home mother and money in tight and I was looking forward to a moment of pamper. I was shocked when she said it was over. Do not waste your money here. Oh and at the end they’ll try to sell you a ton of product and get you to do a membership.

My daughter and I LOVE Michelle! She always knows what our skin needs and she is just the sweetest. We feel very comfortable in the space and with her. Her recommendations are great! Hand&Stone is very accommodating and welcoming--we go all the time.

I purchased a prenatal massage for my wife and it sounded like a terrible experience. She had an older lady that made things very uncomfortable. She wanted to get up to go the bathroom and not come back. Not a good impression for a first visit.

I am usually very tense during a massage, due to high sensitivity in my legs and feet. I was so relaxed, and the pressure was perfect that it was the first time I have never felt I was about to kick my therapist in the face due to reflexes. I would highly recommend. The personal service, from the moment you walk into the door is a level I have rarely seen at 5-Star Resort Spas. The entire experience is all about the customer.

I recently had a facial completed by Michelle yesterday. She has been doing my facials since October of last year and she has helped my skin for the better! She is knowledgeable of what ingredients can help me. Especially given that I am a women of deeper skin tone who struggles with hyperpigmentation. If you ever need facial I would recommend going here and making an appointment with her!

I got a massage from Rachel and it was probably the best massage I’ve ever had in my life. She was really good at keying in on the points that hurt the most and making them so much better. I do like a firm massage and she was able to deliver, which I very much appreciate. I wish I lived here so I could go back.

This was my first facial and Michele was extremely helpful in educating me on the whole process. When I first went in I was a little nervous and was very talkative, as the process continued I begin to relax to the extent of answering Michele with 1 word answers! I was so relaxed when I got ready to leave, as I looked in the mirror I had my shirt on inside out and my skin looked so refreshed and clean! Great Experience and I will be back~

I have problems with my neck and back and explained to the masseuse that I bruise easily and that I was only there to get a light massage to loosen everything up. Well she insisted on telling me i needed my neck done and really hurt me. Over a week later and Im in horrible pain. She ended up spending so much time on my neck she didnt have time for the rest of my massage. I have an autoimmune disease and Im already in chronic pain every day now its worse. I emailed the manager to let her know so this wouldnt happen again and she called and left a message on my emergency contacts phone and offered to have me come in again for the introductory rate of $59. Umm no thank you - I already spent enough money and Im not paying for your to try to fix your employees mistake. Customer service at its worst.

Every aspect of this location, from staff to atmosphere, was relaxing. My sister, her husband, my partner, and I all received hour long massages with not a single complaint in the group. George did a phenomenal job concentrating on my bad back. Well definitely be back.

My massage was with Victoria. She was very professional, not afraid to really do deep tissue, and did some trigger point work. A gifted therapist can read a persons body and know where/how to relieve pain and discomfort. She was amazing, very purposeful and skilled. Highly recommend her!! Seeing her again in 2 weeks!🤗

I had the most AMAZING facial at the friends and family day in Wilmington on Saturday! The staff was so friendly and made sure all my needs were met. My skin felt so refreshed and clean! I cant wait to go back for more FABULOUS pampering!!!

If you are looking to get a massage, DO NOT use Laurel. Very nice lady, but you could tell she was tired and ready to be done for the day. Was very difficult to relax due to her moving around the room and running into things constantly. (chairs, massage table, etc.) She sat down a lot which made it really difficult for her to maneuver and reach places. Usually after about 15 mins my back feels better and I can go on with the rest of the massage, but I specifically asked her if we could just work on my back for the remainder of the time because it still needed work done. It literally felt like she was lotioning my skin. When I politely asked if she could go a little firmer/harder she dug her bony elbow into my back tracing my spine. It hurt like hell. Clearly there’s a happy medium and a better technique. Front reception staff was lovely and honestly the only reason I considered buying a package, but I would need to know staff experience levels/bios. Nice spa but was sadly disappointed by my first time experience and waste of money.

Don’t waste your time here, the staff here is not so great. Clean place nice setup just needs to be put in “better hands” so to speak. Likely from lack of poor leadership. Doesn’t give option for no stars but it was legit that bad of an experience. STAY AWAY

My girlfriend and I visited this location for a couples massage that we had booked a week prior since we were coming from out of town for a little get away. Upon arrival we were greeted and asked if we were here for our couples massage we replied yes, we then filled out our information on the Ipads which also stated couples massage.We waited and a massage therapist came out and grabbed my girlfriend and took her to the room. I thought how thoughtful to allow ladies first. After a good amount of time passed I approached the desk and asked what the delay was. They went and grabbed the therapist and informed him it was a couples massage and he said he as unaware and he would get another room set..Now also be aware this whole time I am texting with my girlfriend. This guy goes and tells her there is no room and it was an error and I am already getting a massage and this was all that was available. I didnt get a massage because I was beyond upset at this.He blatantly lied to my girlfriend and his coworkers.I called and spoke to the manager of this location and she told me this isnt how they handle business etc. She told me she would handle the situation. Four weeks later I had to call back after not hearing a single word from her at this time she told me she would handle it again and call me right back.Well here we are almost a week after I spoke to her and yep still no call back.This place is a joke.Getting in touch with them also is like pulling teeth, they never answer the phone at all and like I said I am still waiting on my second call back to fix a situation over a month old.I have also contacted corporate now.

I scheduled a massage for 11 a.m. Due to traffic problems, I arrived 11 minutes late (I called and let them know I would not be on time). When I arrived, I was told that it would be a 30 minute massage. I was certainly prepared to have 11 minutes deducted from my time, but I didnt understand how 30 minutes would be deducted. I was told that 10 minutes are calculated for dressing and undressing - evidently, from the calculation, 10 minutes each. So, the massage must be 40 minutes, not an hour as advertised. I was not wearing a suit of armor, so the 20 minutes didnt make any sense to me. I declined the 30 minute massage, and I certainly felt bad for the masseuse. But this was my birthday, and I would have felt worse going forward with the feeling that I was mislead. This was not the experience I expected and it certainly put a damper on my birthday celebration. I would not go back to this establishment.

I saw Michelle Washlesky for a facial yesterday.I am a nurse, plastic surgery nurse & aesthetic nurse injector for 22 years.This lady is a rock star!Life changing facial/treatment. I can’t imagine going to anyone else!Just amazing beyond belief.I was in a deep depression & after her treatment all that changed.Need I say more?

I had a massage yesterday. Firstly, the massage itself was great. The therapist was nicely skilled. It was a promotional free massage so Im guessing this is why the massage was only about 40 minutes long, vs the standard hour. However, when I checked out they said that the massage I received today would typically be $95!! Which is totally outrageous! There was no aromatherapy or hot towels or any of that. They want you to join a club for $65 a month for one massage, but if you want aromatherapy or a scalp massage with it you have to pay extra! They say they are saving you from having to pay $95 if you have them autodraft your account the $65 monthly. $65-$80 is standard for a massage around here, and that includes the extras. I wouldnt join this spa, you get more bang for your buck elsewhere.

This was my first time with my new therapist. She took her time to ask about my needs and proceeded with my massage.Knew right from the start that her attention to details, went along with my request. A+ Hand and Stone is a clean and relaxing environment Been a member about 1 year.

My facial was nice. But, I hesitate to go back. I had a gift card and have gone here before. If it’s not your first visit you pay double. They keep you at the register to get you to pay monthly for cheaper rates. I understand this is their thing for business but, my life does not warrant me to go monthly & it’s more cost efficient to go to another spa.

I have been a Hand and Stone spa member for 3 years. I transferred my membership from Fayetteville to Wilmington when Wilmington opened. While I feel this spa had some issues when they first opened, I really feel they have worked out their opening issues and are doing a great job now. My facials with Kayla and massage with Mary Anne have been first notch. I recommend them.. Pat H.

Yikes. Booked a birthday massage for my husband and myself as our birthdays are one day apart. Terrible mistake. My massage lasted about 45 minutes with zero time spent on one of the trouble spots I had mentioned both on my intake form and with the therapist before the massage ever started. My husbands massage lasted a whopping 30 minutes because his therapist couldnt find his intake form that was filled out several days prior to our appointment. His therapist never once asking if he had any areas troubling him or what kind of pressure he wanted so he received light pressure the entire massage. We were not in to relax, we booked our appointments to help aide in relieving severe tension in our bodies and were hugely UNDERwhelmed by the massages received. This may be an ok spa if you have zero pain in your body and just want to relax but i would not recommend it to anyone needing to relieve tension.

The only upside is everyone was nice. A one hour appointment was about 45 minutes and the massage therapist was less talented than anyone I have run into at other spas. Would not return, especially when there are so many other wonderful spas with membership perks in the area.

The staff at Hand and Stone were very friendly and the facial was great. The waiting room area could have been a little more private and relaxing instead of being right at the front of the store. Other than that, it was a good experience.

The staff upon entry is very friendly & informative. This was my second time having a massage there & Ive loved both of them!! Atmosphere in the room is great, the massage therapist was very knowledgeable and professional--he knew right where I needed the most attention. I already have my next appointment scheduled!

After writing on my paperwork and specifically asking my therapist to focus on my lower back and for firm pressure, she never even touched my lower back or asked how the pressure was. After informing the receptionist of this after my massage, all she could do was say “I’m really sorry” and didn’t offer to correct the situation in any way. Worst massage I have ever had and I will not be recommending anyone to go here or returning. Complete waste of money and time.

Laurel is a miracle worker. I had severe back pain for over a week and hobbled in. Laurel asked me if I was having any issues. I pointed to a section of my back and she said “Ah, that’s the QL.” She worked her magic on it (slightly painful but the kind of pain that you know is helping!) When I left I felt some relief but the next morning I felt like a new woman. I am so grateful for her expertise. Without her healing hands, my Christmas would have been dismal. Thank you so very much Laurel!!

I had a great experience here. My massage therapist, Tom, was amazing. If one is looking for monthly massages, this one be a nice place to buy a package. The spa is nice and quiet. The only issue was the check out process could have been easier.

Had a facial scheduled for 9 am....didnt start until 9:15 and was done at 9:50. I have had plenty of facials that range from 50 minutes to 1 hour....For the price I had on my gift card I would have expected at least 50 minutes. Will not be returning .

Jaime is amazing! I like the convenience of paying the monthly membership with my flex spending card and having a dedicated therapist that I look forward to my monthly (or sometimes bi-weekly) massage. Being injured in the Army 20 years ago, I have seen MANY massage therapists and she is amazing!

I didnt really enjoy the massage. The person was nice enough giving the massage, its just that the technique wasnt there. It felt more like swedish massage, not the deep tissue I asked to get. Also, I was early, but walked into the massage room at 5 minutes after. My massage was cut short, but I was not enjoying it anyway so it didnt matter, it was just the principle. No offense, but Ive gotten better massages at the massage school from students at half the cost. I still left a tip for the effort considering I didnt enjoy it, but wont be back.

Makenzie gives a perfect massage. Its amazing how some of the little things feel good, like massaging the bones in your hands or having your forearms rubbed or your leg muscles. And of course the shoulders and back are a big one for me. Feels like shes separating all the layers apart (bones, muscles, tendons) but in a good way. Perfect relief from a job where I regularly lift 70+ lbs all day and also carry my 10 month around a lot at home. Outstanding massage.

This was my first professional massage and it was amazing! McKenzie was my Massage Therapist and she was awesome! The atmosphere alone was so relaxing and all of the staff are awesome! I recommend Hand and Stone 100%!

Recently went to get a couples massage. The therpists were great and very friendly. The atmosphere was very relaxing. Its in a nice location in Mayfair. I would recommend this place for a massage. I have not experienced any other treatments yet but am sure they are just as good.

I have been coming here for a few months now. I upgraded to a hot stone massage this time. Oh my! That was heavenly! Will get the hot stones again. Highly recommend!

What happened to the surveys? Do they not do that anymore? The pros? Its a pretty building. The cons? A chain massage place like this cant run properly if the business model isnt bein followed and the employees arent being trained. First of all no one attempted to upsell me when I came in. Which is fine because when I got to my service my therapist informed me they had not bee trained in how to do hot stones anyway. There are a half a dozen other things I could point out. Like the fact that the front desk called the therapist by the wrong name. Which was just kind of rude to her. I worked for this company when this spa first opened and was trained by people from corporate. This isnt how the place should be run. You cant keep good therapists if they cant make a living and they cant make a living if you arent training them. I am not a disgruntled employee by the way. I enjoyed working there when I did. I left for personal reasons unrelated to how that was going. And there was a diffrent manager back then. He was super sweet. I am however a therapist who has been working in the industry for a decade and feel its not fair to these young therapists to not be trained correctly. In a franchise thats not there fault. Thats inadequate management. There are a number of services hand and stone provides that I like. In fact pretty much all of them. Hot stones are lovely. The cold stone face massage. Great for sinis issues. The foot treatment with the lemongrass lotion decadant. Peppermint scale rub. All over that. BUT when they dont offer them to people no one knows about them and if they therapist cant do them. Well .. there ya go.Either way. It was an ok massage experience. I typically only go there when I want a same day service and no one else is avalible in town to do it. And its kind of Russian roulette but when you hurt and you need relief sometimes you take a gamble.

Ally and Lauren at the reception desk were super! MacKenzie, the massage therapist was outstanding addressing every area we discussed and successfully resolved each issue. Each member of the staff was focused on a positive customer experience.

Massage therapist, Lindsay, provided a relaxing experience tailored to my needs. She was courteous and thoughtful, taking preferences into account and was both competent and capable. I recommend her and Hand and Stone.

I try doing something for my wife for her birthday, big mistake try using Hand and Stone . Paid for a massage and facial. They said it was for a massage alone. Try contacting them on the matter, manager never there . People are rude there. If you are going to be that high price, should be nice and have a little manners. Typical box store perfunctory massage. I got about 45 minutes of my hour massage. Not the place to go for healing body work that gets to the root cause of any pain you are experiencing. If you need an experienced therapist who is well trained in deep tissue, myofascial release, S.E.T. therapy, and other highly skilled modalities, and who understands human physiology, this is not the place to go. Do a little homework and seek out an independent therapist with the right credentials, they are to be found in our area and for the same hourly rates. Once you have experienced what massage therapy can be, youll never go back.

Joined and disappointed. It is Impossible to get a massage appointment in the evening after work. I can’t even get one several weeks out into the future. It’s the same at two other locations. They desperately need to add staff or time slots somehow.

All of the staff is friendly, knowledgeable, and very helpful. Laurel was phenomenal! So glad I decided to try here. Well worth it, great pricing, and feel so much better afterwards. Also the facility is clean, and enjoyable atmosphere.

Tried it for first time. Specifically asked for experienced massage therapist. Gal had just got her license w/only 3 weeks experience. She did a good job but staff needs better training in meeting ustomer needs.

The spa itself is aesthetically nice and the staff was very informative and friendly. The massage was Meh. Everything was an up charge (including more pressure) and I felt like my masseuse was a salesman. Definitely not worth the money.

This was an amazing experience all around. I had Chris for the 60 minute massage and Michelle for a 60 minute facial, they both were professional striving to go above and beyond, addressing all my issues and concerns, leaving me extremely satisfied with the result.

Disappointing, My wife and I were really looking forward to a couples massage as we are both experiencing back neck and shoulder pain. We both asked for deep tissue massages My wifes male therapist basically just rubbed lotion on her, mine was not nearly as good as massages I have had in the past. Upset that we wasted our money here!

The hour was up before I knew it and I didn’t feel like anything really helped. I had a torn rotator cuff in my shoulder recently. The overall experience just felt weak to me, I prefer a good firm massage not aggressively rubbing lotion on my body.

Unfortunately GPS (Waze and Google) doesnt take you to the right place. I had a 9am appointment and would have been there early but couldnt find it and the phone lines dont open up until 9am so by the time I got someone on the phone, got there and filled out the paperwork, the massage didnt start until 9:20. The one hour $80 massage was mediocre and ended at 9:52. Not a very good experience in general. Hopefully this is not the norm.

I had a facial that was fine. The products had very strong sweet fragrances, that is not to my liking.What I did not care for st all was the sting upsell upon checking out. I was relaxed and chill, and that was quickly erased.

A full body massage consists of FULL arms and legs. My massage did not include the back of my arms, the upper arms (elbow to shoulder) nor the thighs. Not professional at all. Advertised 1 hour massages and you only get 50 minutes. No more box store massages for me.

Best Spa services in town. They seem to always be able to accommodate my needs for late appointments or spare of the moment wax sessions. Michele is the best and is the only person Ive let wax me.

Im not a frequent massage recipient, but Chris gave me one of the best massages Ive ever had! Only problem was there was a miscommunication and I didnt receive the cold stone facial treatment I was scheduled for.

Jaimie is an amazing therapist and is the only reason I keep coming here. However, getting someone to answer the phone, return a voicemail or often even acknowledge you when you walk in the door is unacceptable.

If you have not been here this restaurant is a must! The food is absolutely top notch. We loved the quite atmosphere. We could actually carry on a conversation and hear what we were saying. The wait staff were very friendly and right on point with service.

I got lost and was late for my appointment but the ladies at the desk were forgiving and kind. Brandi did my facial and she was delightful and have me some sound skin advice. Great experience.

This is the first time I had a facial that I didnt see immediate results and I should have never got the add of dermabrasion it did nothing. Waste of money. And I dont feel as refreshed as I have from all other facials I got. Wont go back.The facility was very nice though.

Facial was good and customer service was nice but the fact that I didnt get a military discount was disappointing. I try to patronize companies that offer this discount and they told me in the phone they offered it on products but then you find out you only get the discount if you join their club

Booked an appointment online. Later they called to ask me to switch it the time, which I couldnt. Then they called me again to let me know the time I scheduled wasnt available. Why offer online booking if you cannot manage it? Disappointed for sure.

What a terrible experience , had never been had an 10 am appt got there 10 minutes early sat for a half hour and finally a lady came and said you were never checked in and basically didn’t have time for my massage now .. terrible I drove all the way for Leland . Very unprofessional , would def not recommend this place to anyone it ruined my whole day ! Manager was horrible
