I live out of state and in Ann Arbor to care for my mother. My experience with Ann Arbor School of Massage, Herbal & Natural Medicine has been an awesome experience and have all expectations. I have experienced massages from a few different students and they were all great and knowledgeable. I know the students will graduate, but I am confident that I will get another great student. Mary Light has been great with accommodations and any special request if needed.

Ann Arbor School of Massage and Herbal Medicine is an institute par excellence. My association with this school goes back to the year 2020, when I completed my LMT course under the guidance of very knowledgeable and experienced faculty. Their focus is not only on theory but they also hone students practical and field skills. Ms. Mary Light is very congenial, supportive and encouraging . The institute helps students pass the MBLEX exam by sharing relevant resources. I would gladly recommend this very professional institute to future aspirants.

Wonderful place to learn about a great deal of healing modalities from different qualified instructors. The school is a nice, serene space with an amazing apothecary and library. Their herbal medicine course is wonderful & complete. I recommend it to holistically-minded practitioners and interested people whod like a more natural health to their health and their familys. The course shows you all the stages of herbal medicine, from growing, identifying, and ethical foraging, to different preparations. My favorite part was the final project where one needed to create a couple of original herbal products.Overall this school is fantastic! Ive also had the opportunity to work with Mary in a consult setting and shes kind, professional and very knowledgeable. The lessons learned there have inspired me to continue in the field of herbalism. I use the knowledge gained there every day. This was a wonderful, worthwhile investment!

I attended the herbal program in 2012. Was a life changing experience for me. Such invaluable information to be learned. I have spent almost every day since starting the program incorporating herbal medicine into my life. It has made it possible for me to heal on many levels as well as help countless others including friends and family members. One thing that I really enjoyed about the program was that connecting with the plants and others on an energetic level was included in our training. This is not something that is available in a lot of other herbal programs I have checked out. I have since attended many classes here involving energy healing and massage. I am thankful that the school makes it possible for me to travel there from the other side of the state. This is another option you dont see readily available at other schools. Cannot recommend this school enough!

I took the herbal medicine program here in 2016. It was a life changing experience! Mary Light is a joy to be around, invests in all the students to ensure you get the most out of the course and a brilliant being of knowledge and wisdom. She takes you from soil to medicine through classroom and hands on experiences, while explaining how herb based medicine combined with naturopathic therapies heal specific health issues and support body systems.

Absolutely love love love this place, i have been going here for massage for almost a year now, and their life philosophy is matching my idea of true healing coming from within, and being constant prevention and lowering stress and inflammation. Mary has always been so kind and helpful in setting up appointments and has gone above and beyond to get me the right times, juggling schedules and messaging me back with better/sooner appt times. The massage therapists are true healers (have been scheduling my sessions with Paola, particularly) and I felt at least 10 years younger and pain free after each of my sessions; the wisdom of naturopathic medicine and use of essential oils and naturist recommendations empower patients to access the healing power within them (unlike other med system that “put a bandaid” over a growing problem, just knowing they would gain a customer for life by keeping them coming). This is a zen place of healing and ancient wisdom for me, so grateful it exists!

I completed the Medicinal Herbalist Program 2016. It was 5 month program and a perfect step into herbal medicine. It was everything that I wanted it to be as a beginner. I learned how to identify, harvest, and process herbs, make medicine, create and design my own products, what it takes to run an apothecary and so much more. Mary is very well knowledged and was always very helpful. She wants her students to succeed. She even wrote me a letter of recommendation to work on the Herb Pharm in Oregon and continue my studies in herbal medicine. She also offers several other classes that interest me. I would recommend this school to anyone. I see the Naturopathic Program in my near future!

I don’t usually write reviews but I myself feel a responsibility to ENCOURAGE people to use this School.I have learned more from Mary Light and her teachers in 10 MONTHS than I learned in over 20 YEARS of both self and school study of natural medicine and holistic care. Her non-linear and hands-on way of teaching taught me to TEACH MYSELF and to develope the critical thinking skills that are necessary and so important in the world of natural healing. Anything can be memorized and put down on paper like most schools, but it’s useless if we don’t understand the basics, the root of natural medicine and how to THINK. This is what Mary does. Not only that but she personally and intimately understands and works with each student. She cares what they get out their education beyond the certificate and is never too busy to give of herself and share her knowledge and great love of natural healing at any time - in or out of the classroom.I first completed a 3 month course in Herbal Medicine in the Spring. Then I was allowed to start a very enjoyable apprenticeship at the school and later that Fall started the 2 year Naturopathic program. Mary personally worked with me to make this possible through any challenges I had. I learned how to support the health of a handicapped toddler with significant health issues at a time when doctors and specialists had nothing to offer.I would recommend this School a hundred times over to anyone who really wants to learn TRUE natural medicine in the real world. Amen.

I like how the owner of this place is lying about not speaking with me. The other negative reviews says it all! I called and left a message with this place a few years back so I could schedule a massage appointment for my parents .The owner of the school called me back today so that was nice, but was very condescending during the phone conversation. I say her costumer service skills were unfriendly as well based on my personal opinion. I find that to be very perplexing knowing it a massage school or any business for that matter. I was very discourage from her overall tone from the phone conversation. Based on the negative Google reviews, she seems very vindictive or vengeful on her responses and it seems she has had legal issues with her business in the past based on some of negative Google reviews. I am glad I am not having my parents come here to this place of business and that the appointment date didnt work out in October. She also making false accusations, which proves my point about the phone call itself. I even called her Maam and ask her how she was doing today from the initial phone call. I never met any women or man that has a business or conducting business and acts the way she does over the phone and this business review! No professionalism!

I’ve been going to this school for my massages for the past year and have enjoyed every appointment. I’ve been to other spas around town and can honestly say I’ve received the best massages from here! The students are very professional and I can tell they are skillfully practicing the techniques they’re learning. Definitely would recommend to anyone looking for a relaxing massage at any rate!

Over the past 5 years, I have taken classes, enjoyed affordable student clinic massages and attended FREE events at the Naturopathic School of the Healing Arts. I have NEVER had a bad experience there. In fact I find the negative rewiews hard to believe. I recommend checking this school out and finding out all they have to offer. 5 STARS!

I was first impressed with all the subjects covered- healing diets, bodywork, herbal medicine, rest dynamics, iridology, counsel skills, physiology & anatomy, and others. Taking classes, it is clear the teachers are very experienced and helpful with their guidance and teaching. I cannot find a similar quality school anywhere, and feel lucky to have found this one. Traditional Naturopathy offers a whole different perspective and set of tools for health and healing, one that we badly need! Come join us some day for a school visit and see for yourself the welcoming energy and wisdom that is here to offer.

Last year I had been in contact with Mary a few times over e-mail about the program, trying to get a better understanding of tuition, what the program offered, etc... I had viewed the website and still didnt have a clear idea of the program. I wanted to visit the school to sit down with Mary and talk about the program, and payment options. Id scheduled a visit with Mary, which I assumed would be a tour of the school and learning about the program. Instead she didnt set aside any time for me personally, and I got to sit in on a class that told me nothing about the program. I sat with a bunch of massage students as they discussed one of their projects and some homework...by the time I left I still didnt have any better understanding of the program. A few more e-mail exchanges occurred and I decided to not do the program. Mary had stated that my application arrived and asked if I would like the application to be held or discarded. I told her to please discard it and I would reconsider the program next year. She replied and said that was fine and that she would void my application check as well. I was not expecting this, but it was great! About 5 months later, in February I noticed that the school had cashed my application check without consulting me about it. I had e-mailed them promptly and even forwarded the e-mails where Mary stated she would void my check and discard my application. This was never acknowledged, and I got the run around a few times. I called, left a message, showed up, the doors were locked. Eventually I took the case to small claims and ended up winning. All in all I think the situation was handled very poorly, and unprofessionally. Im happy I got my money back, but it wasnt only about the money, but the principle of the matter. Please think twice before enrolling in this program. Get a full grasp on what the program actually offers, and a clear, concise understanding about tuition costs and payments. I am still interested in naturopathy and herbalism, but I will never study at this school.

I studied at the Naturopathic School of the Healing Arts and graduated as a Tradiaitonal Naturopath and Massage Therapist in 2012. The school provided a supportive learning environment and a solid foundation to build upon. I recommend this school to anyone interested in professional education/training in natural healing, herbal medicine or massage therapy..

I am a graduate of the 2016 herbal medicine clinic, and I came away enlightened and inspired to continue with my studies in herbal medicine. Mary has a treasure trove of knowledge and is always approachable. It was well worth my time and money.
