Great food and service! The restaurant serves scratch made southern food in a really unique historic building/mill. We were visiting from out of town and wanted to try a bit of everything. We started with gumbo and it was amazing! We got the bowl to share and it’s huge, but our waitress did warn us! For our meals we ordered the burnt ends over fries and the blacked eyes peas and collard greens with added chicken. After ordering, I noticed the mac and cheese awards on the wall so of course we had to add a side of that as well! It was good and it was especially good with the burnt ends. Everything we tried was good and a waitress was great - very friendly and attentive. Neat place with good southern style food. Glad we stopped in.
We were riding to see the Freedom Rock in town and we started talking to a local Veteran about it. My wife and I asked him where is a good place to eat and he highly recommend this place and we agree with him. Craft beer choice was pretty good and the brisket sandwich was very good. The atmosphere was relaxing. We told some of our friends about it and we are planning a group ride there.
Where do I start? I heard about this place then found out a keyboard player for one of my favorite artists was playing that night (Bruce Katz of Allman Brothers, Delbert & others). The atmosphere is amazing, the sound is amazing, and the food was INCREDIBLE. I had the Combo Platter with Corn Maque Choux and Southern Greens. I was blown away with the Southern Greens. So rich, smoky, so different I cant even describe it, simply out of this world. Now I have to try to duplicate that somehow! The barbecue was just as amazing, smoky and juicy, and the sauces were excellent. The show was up-close and personal. Service was great. We will be back to Bellevue for this experience again!
Best restaurant for dinner in Bellevue, no contest. The best food and ambiance! Cute old mill transformed into a great restaurant with made from scratch cooking. It has a lot of character and charm! Definitely don’t miss this one.If you haven’t checked out Flatted Fifth Blues & BBQ for their All You Can Eat BBQ Brisket Spaghetti, you MUST (only on Thursdays)! You might have to ask for it, it’s not on the menu or always announced by the server.I will admit, I had never thought of the combo of BBQ and spaghetti therefore I was skeptical but I figured why not give it a try. IT WAS PHENOMENAL. I was blown away. If you like their brown BBQ sauce, you will love it. It is a little spicy (not at all “hot” though), had a nice subtle vinegar flavor to the BBQ sauce and the brisket is melt in your mouth, like normal! The spaghetti noodles are perfectly Al-dente. The smaller portion is the “all you can eat” additional plate, should you order one. The meal includes a salad (I had the chipotle ranch dressing - amazing!) or you can get soup for a small upcharge. The salad is a spring mix which is always preferred vs iceberg, for me. It also comes with two garlic Parmesan breadsticks that are soft on the inside with a little outside crunch and perfect amount of flavor.Otherwise my favorites are the combo platter with corn maque choux and smashed potatoes (weekends only) if not there on a weekend the baked beans, burnt ends, fried green tomatoes and the flourless chocolate cake! They also have a great rotation of local beers and the bartender can whip up an upscale cocktail as well!
Excellent establishment. Cajun food ,amazing. Live blues band. Owner Mark took the time to have conversation with us and tell us the history off the building and share stories. When we came back that evening for dinner he remembered our names and treated us like old friends. HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS RESTAURANT!!!!!!
It was okay. There were two girls working. One girl didnt even acknowledge us and she looked like she had an attitude. The other waitress came over and was very friendly and helped us with our ordering. We will definitely come back to listen to the music playing. It is a nice little drive from Dubuque.
Wonderfully preserved building + superior cuisine + excellent entertainment = 5 stars in my book. I would suggest calling ahead for a table, unless you dont mind waiting, and when the waitress says thanks for your patience you know the food took a while. Even so our meals were top notch for the price. Try the Chicken Tchoupitoulas for a change. Brisket was oh so good! The prime rib looked awesome too. Enjoy!
Driving the scenic Iowa route south from Dubuque heading back towards Chicago, this was a great stop. Historic Potters Mill and tucked away setting provide the atmosphere for a perfect stop. BBQ brisket was very good (the amount of meat provided in the sandwich could be a bit more generous to make it outstanding). Multiple bbq sauces. Seasoned fries were very tasty.Several craft brews on tap. I enjoyed an interesting peanut butter stout. The staff are very outgoing & friendly and the owner is very engaging. If I lived closer, Flatted Fifth Blues + BBQ at Potters Mill would be a great place to hang out.
Flatted Fifth in Bellevue was a great experience for my husband and I. We new about the shortage of servers most places have so we chose to go at a latter time. When we arrived I loved this place immediately. It had a Potters Mill feeling and was very charming. We were seated with in a couple minutes even though there were only a couple servers. We were attended to immediately. Im not sure how she did it but our service was perfect. Now for the food. If youre looking for something thats not ( oh hum) this is a place to go. The food was spectacular. The chef at this place is a remarkable chef. I recommend flatted Fifth Barbaque to any one. No freezer food sold here. Everything was made fresh. Thank you for the wonderful dinning experience Potters Mill flatted Fifth BBQ.
The restaurant is tucked up side of a huge Limestone Bluff and theres a large Creek that runs by it. Just a very lovely off the beaten path place to go. Its a bar restaurant on the bottom floor of the mill and the top half of the mill is actually a bed-and-breakfast type of an Inn.The decor is very old time rustic. lLots of eclectic things from the mill that are used throughout the restaurant and bar area. The night we attended they were having a blue grass/folk art duo performing on the small stage. Atmosphere and Aviance were very soothing, relaxing and Zen.... The wait staff was friendly, efficient, courteous. The food was top-notch and its geared towards southern-style style New Orleans dishes. You will not find a hamburger on the menu but you will find smoked french fries that were off the hook! The mac and cheese was a bechamel style Fontina cheese sauce. The Southern Fried Chicken was light crisp very flavorful. Definitely give this restaurant 5 + Stars very very good experience...
Delicious & fresh food! Wanted to try for some time & wish we had tried sooner. Hubby had their shrimp with cheesy grits & those were the creamiest grits Ive ever had. I had their brisket sandwich; brisket had a wonderful smoke, tender & juicy. I used their BBQ sauce & it was one of the better ones Ive had at BBQ restaurants.I love a good fried green tomato & theirs was somewhat of an unexpected flavor with the crab romeulade & some other sauce that I cant remember what it was but they were crispy & delicious. You have to try them if you go.We will be going back time & time again; looking forward to trying their dinner menu for our next visit.
BBQ sounded good when my wife and I stayed at the Mont Rest Inn for our anniversary. She had the smoked prime rib and I ordered the rib dinner. We ended up switching meals because the prime rib was a bit too spicy for her (she is very sensitive) and the ribs were milder. The prime rib was fantastic! We both enjoyed sharing the sides: smashed potatoes, corn mix, mac & cheese, and smoked fries. These were all fantastic! Our waitress, LouAnn, was excellent and very knowledgeable. Our only disappointment was that we arrived a bit too early to hear the live music, but we will definitely be back.
Inside an idyllic Old Mill building along the historic Great River Road servings crisp fresh greens in the starter salad, comfort food with a Creole influence, and a chicken pot pie that literally defines what this comfort food should be with a big flakey top and healthy sage forward filling round out a solid local beer list including a local NA Brew. Dont miss an opportunity to stop in here.
This was our 1st trip to Bellevue and we went specifically to try your restaurant. It was amazing. Food was delicious. We were sad to hear you are closing at the end of the year but we wish you many happy years in retirement. Your amazing daughter waited on us. She was terrific and made us feel so welcomed. Best of luck in your next chapter.
Great food in a wonderful rustic atmosphere. The combination of barbecue and creole style foods worth the drive from out of town. Selection of taps is pretty good as well, focusing some on local breweries such as Backpocket. If you can, plan on being there for a live show, as the music really adds to the experience.
Favorite place up and down the Mississippi River for miles around! We come repeatedly for a great meal and frequent their fantastic live music. Couldn’t have nicer folks, Mark and Rachel, as owners and their staff; including their amazing chef!
Fantastic find! All the food was top-notch and the portions were huge.My husband had the best prime rib of his life and I had the blackened chicken. We took enough food home for a second meal.
The fried pickles were good. The pulled pork was only redeemed by the BBQ sauce which wasn’t even provided with the meal, it had to be asked for. The entree portion of Mac & cheese was equivalent to what you’d expect as a side & $14. The service was dismal for a restaurant that wasn’t busy & appeared adequately staffed. Lunch took over an hour.
Enjoyed a nice brunch meal on a Sunday afternoon. Great ambience and nice attentive staff. Oh. And the food was tasty. :-). Can’t wait to go back for barbecue dinner and music.
They didnt have ribs even though it was on the menu. Mac&cheese gummy. Cornbread tasted under cooked. Would not recommend this place to my friends. Service was so so she didnt really anything about the menu.
All the food is homemade. It was excellent fried chicken and the perfectly season to perfection. Shrimp and grits were a very large portion
Food is amazing! Fried green tomatoes appetizer is a must. Brisket & jambalaya were both phenomenal. Really cool place inside with lots of history as an old mill. Lots of great blues bands come through here on the weekends. Highly recommend!!!
We were traveling through the area & stopped for dinner. The food & service were great. Definitely will be back next time we are in the area!
We went with a group of friends and all of the food was wonderful. Our server LouAnn was very helpful and provided excellent service. We would highly recommend stopping by for the food, beer, and service.
Wow, this place has great atmosphere and marvelous BBQ!! What a winning combo!! We had three wonderful meal combos (2 had same meal). Flavors were fantastic! Definitely planning to come back here!! Check it out when your in the area, just south of Dubuque!!!
My wife and I had an outstanding lunch experience. I ordered the goulash which was excellent and hearty with just the right amount of spice. She ordered the apple walnut salad which was not only tasty but quite artfully prepared. We were wowed by the atmosphere with its breathtaking restoration of a historic mill. Service was excellent and it was a real treat to meet the owner. You will not be disappointed if you make this trip for lunch or dinner.
Awesome place, cool atmosphere and really good food. Took a really long time, but it all felt home cooked and very satisfying.
Excellent food, great atmosphere, awesome music. Had the ribs. Love that they are Memphis style--dry rubbed and smoked. The smashed potatoes and southern greens were delicious. Best bread pudding I have ever had. They also have an excellent selection of tap beers and scotch! Will definitely go back.
They have excellent food thats made from scratch. Atmosphere is good. It gives you that southern Louisiana vibe.
Food was amazing. Atmosphere was unique. Our server was very attentive. She suggested a drink for me that was spot on. They were able to accommodate my husbands drink request. Portions were big, and the price was right. Very much recommend, especially in this new COVID era.
Food was high quality and all of the servers were very nice. The food is a bit more expensive than other BBQ. Most of the dinners are between 17-25 dollars. However, the actual meat quality is much higher and the atmosphere is super cool!
Went her for the first time - cant believe weve never been here before (only live about 20 minute away!!). The atmosphere was awesome, the food was really, really good (I had fried chicken and others had pulled pork and ribs), the staff was spot on, and the live music (Michael Charles blues band) was great! Too bad a lot of people just came to eat and left - they shouldve stuck around for some great music. Would love to see this place continue to grow and get more people out there! They should also change their name on social media from Potters Mill to Flatted Fifth Blues & BBQ ... But overall a great night! Will definitely be back :)
Great food, large but cozy atmosphere. Our server was wonderful, and you can just smell the delicious aroma from their smoker in the air as you walk in. Call ahead to double check if they have a live band, otherwise you will have to make do with good music, just from an iPad. 8/10 would recommend. Oh, excellent serving sizes too!
This restaurant is in such a cool building. I love the history of Potters Mill. The food was delicious. Perfect soul food. They have live music, which creates a fun and lively atmosphere. Its a great spot for family and friend gatherings or for date night.
We visited for the first time today and were so impressed. The food was absolutely fabulous as were the Bloody Marys. It was hard to choose from the entrees and sides, but both of us were pleased with our selections. Our waitress (shout out to Cameron) was so great! Engaging, helpful and perfectly attentive. Owner Mark visited our table as well and endured my husband’s love of food conversations. We will definitely be back. Thank you for an enjoyable and delicious visit to Bellevue.
I was taking the river highway and stopped here for lunch. I had the brisket and cheese grits. It was very good. Nice to know that they do all their in house smoking. Nice to come into a place and having a New Orleans style food and having the blues playing. The place is just beautiful inside. I highly recommend this place. You will not be disappointed.
My husband and I went here with another couple for a special birthday dinner. We both had great smoked dinners, I the pulled pork and and he the ribs. The food was great, and there also was a blues band playing live music while we ate. Beautiful historic building. Great overall experience.
Friendly staff and attentive as well. I had the smoked brisket sandwich which was good but should have had the fat removed. It was smoked well with good flavor and fell apart at the touch. Wife had red beans and rice and wasnt impressed. I thought it was ok.Nice environment, would loved to have been there when there was live music. The craft store upstairs was nice, and had item made by local artisans. Its changed a bit since we were there years ago, but I would recommend a stop, have a brew and meal, and hopefully get to enjoy some music in a historic mill.
Met there today for lunch with our paddling group. The food is always great. Service is a bit slow, but they are understaffed and hiring just now. But...dont let that keep you from visiting this landmark building that happens to serve the best Cajun food around.
The food was okay. Cajun style food is the favorite style of food for my wife and I. Our biggest complaint was that all of the food had too much salt in it. Are other complaint was that our waiter did not seem to know what he was doing. It seemed like we were often forgotten about, and it took a long time to get served even the basics like water. The building is wonderful. Great atmosphere. I just wish that the food was less salty.
Well be back! The menu was minimal, but VERY good. A more urban (sophisticated?) but not pretentious type of food than you usually find in the rural Midwest, and in a casual, historic setting. The prices are a tad higher than the typical hometown restaurant, but the food is a tier above canned green beans and iceberg lettuce Im usually getting. Our group had:pulled pork with baked beans, (there are three sauces on the table to dress your pulled sandwich - comes dry.). Beans were raved about.pulled chicken with fries, beef brisket sandwich with cornbread (both brisket & cornbread were moist & flavorful)Pulled pork saladPineapple salad - AWESOME! (It was a mixed greens salad - not head lettuce - with walnuts, Apple, and actual grilled pineapple chunks) had it with blue cheese dressing & was excellent! Also had sides of grits & pineapple coleslaw - they were both great!I appreciated the graciousness of our waitress & host ...Im a vegetarian and the choices, as expected, were slim. I know special dietary requirements can be tedious & they were nothing but helpful and courteous with my questions. Although the menu is labeled incorrectly, to even have a local establishment put in the effort to help patrons make informed decisions is admirable.
Second time here for me. If youre ordering just drinks, you will be well pleased. Lots of beer and ale choices, and some of the very best mixed drinks (do not miss the delicious Pineapple Upside Down.) However, the food is often overcooked, and what could be tender and delicious is instead dry and chewy. The wait staff is excellent, attentive and friendly. The prices are really high for the quality. The ambiance is amazing, housed as it is in the old Potters Mill building. Bottom line: Good place for a get-together over drinks, but there are better choices for dinner.
Unfortunately our meals were over priced for what you receive. Two of us had salads and the dressing had no flavor and way too many nuts. The Philly sandwich had very few condiments
A few tables outside, they accommodated us. We had a great server and the food was awesome. We had 2 vegans and 1 vegetarian in our group and there were options for all of us, surprisingly. Decent beer selection. Cute place.
Great place. A bit unusual meals for the Midwest - southern BBQ type. Mine - smoked chicken was great. Served with great tasting fries. They have great sounding full meals. I would go back if in town. I thought the prices fair
My 7 yr old nephew could make better pancakes & scrambled eggs. Eggs tasted like everything ever cooked on the grill. Truly disgusting. Pancakes thick & mushy, straight out of a box. Cool building & atmosphere though (2 stars for that)
Excellent food. Menu has many southern style selections including etouffee, shrimp and grits and jambalaya. There are also steak and brisket offerings. They have a good wine and beer selection. Eclectic atmosphere of Potters Mill and great service insures we will be going back soon.
Had a great experience here! Great service and even better food. We stumbled across it on our way back to Cedar Rapids and we will definitely be making the drive back soon. The owner, Mark, even was kind enough to give us a tour and some history of the building. Outstanding experience!
Very nice atmosphere. Had fried green tomatoes, smoked fries, and smoked prime rib. I give this place a 3 due to the service. The rice was over cooked and no texture, the red beans were over cooked also and tasted like over seasoned refried beans. The fried green tomatoes tastes like fish. The smoked prime rib was the only part of the meal I enjoyed. For the price of the meal [$62] we will not recommend or revisit this restaurant.
Awesome service and food. The atmosphere is cute and cozy and perfect for a date night or large groups. Highly recommend and we’ll def go back!
$15 each for Italian Beef that was oversalted to the point of being inedible, 8 bites was all I could do & I almost never toss out food. they served my daughter burnt corn dog bites without blinking an eye. On top of it all, the counter cat was equal parts smug, condescending and rude. Worst dinning experience Ive had in years, I will be spending my hard earned dough elsewhere.
Our experience was very disappointing. To begin with we were served iced tea that had a funky sour taste. We had to change our drink selection. We ordered the chicken liver appetizer for 7.99 and it was 4 of the smallest livers I had ever seen and was cooked to the point that it was nothing but crumbles. Unfortunately the remainder of the meal did not improve. Way way over-priced and a return trip is definitely out of the question.
The building is beautiful and clean. However, none of the staff were wearing masks despite seeing us wear them. It took over 45 minutes for us to get our food and it was not worth thelong wait or the lack of masks. Its important to mention that we did receive a discount because of the wait however. Would probably not go again unless they decided to mask up.
Food was delicious. I had the Chicken and Sausage Jambalaya. Wife had the blackened catfish. Service was great. The decor was really cool. Especially the fireplace room.
This place is incredible. The food was delicious, the staff was pleasant and attentive, and the atmosphere is great. I love the way they kept the authentic feel of the mill and incorporated themes of rural IA in their decor, without going over the top. The owner came out and talked with me, and gave his recommendations. The fried green tomatoes were mouth-watering, and the brisket was perfect, even without adding any of the BBQ sauces.I travel for work, and let them know that I was in a little bit of a hurry to get to my next appointment, and they did a great job of accommodating my schedule. I sure wish I could have taken my time, but Ill be back! This place, and Bellevue in general, is a gem!
My favorite restaurant in the area - great food, great Cajun Bloody Mary. Having lived in the New Orleans area for 18 years, the food is pretty legit. Located inside the historical Potters Mill, the decor is a nod to its history. Highly recommended!
One of my all time favorite restaurants. We have driven out from Chicago just to eat here. Great atmosphere, historic building, friendly staff, live music. We have even ordered to-go and eaten up on the blufftop park nearby. Theres some nice bench swings by the river if you have to wait for your table. The fried green tomatoes, shrimp and grits, BBQ meats, everything... so so good. Cant wait till the next time I come here. Note that during the covid worker shortage things have slowed down a little but it is WELL worth the wait.
Lots of delicious items with a Cajun twist- the pot pie and burnt ends are some of our favorites. Their breakfast menu offers a great variety of foods and the chicken and waffles were very good, and the bacon was some of the best Ive had- very thick and flavorful. Highly recommend trying the pineapple upside down cake drink as well. A great place for large groups or a romantic date night for two. Live music can get a little loud if youre in the main room, but adds to the vibe.
I got the bloody Mary, pulled pork sandwich, greens, mac and cheese, and smashed potatoes. I loved everything minus the mac and cheese(it was pretty bland). The bloody mary was one of the best Ive ever had. This BBQ definately satisfied the fat kid within me! The service was also wonderful and the live music was delightful. Such a cool history behind the building as well!
One of our favorite music venues. We go for dinner (great BBQ, Cajun and southern dishes plus more standard fare) and stay for the amazing entertainment. How these guys get some top drawer talent (New York, Chicago, Australia) to come to Bellevue constantly amazes me! Never disappoints.
We came upon the Flatted Fifth Blues and BBQ by accident and couldnt believe how lucky we were. The restoration and preservation of the Potters Mill is impeccable. The food and service outstanding. We were fortunate to have Lou Ann as our waitress. She is a lot of fun! Everything we ordered was delicious!! And, to top it off, we sat front and center (on the stage, no less) to enjoy Three Dawgs and a Bone, a jazz group from Iowa City that was outstanding. We live several hours away in Wisconsin, but will return.
We stopped for lunch right at opening time. Service and food were very good; interior and ambience are pleasant and interesting. Beer menu was ample. Food was very fairly priced for the portions and quality. Would gladly eat there again.
This is a top notch establishment! Mark (Owner) very knowledgeable and confident in his Bourbon and menu choices. We were there to celebrate my husbands retirement. We could not have made a better choice!
Had the blackened catfish, was tasty! Maque choux on point. BBQ beans...yum! Cornbread was good as well!
Price, quality, and portions of the food were spot on! Great beer selection, great bloody Marys. Had the chicken tchoupitoulis. Delicious. If your passing through youve got to stop in.
This place was awesomeThe ambiance was fantastic. There is a lot of the old mill left and it is just beautifulStaff took great care of me and knowledgeable. The food was great and look forward to a return trip!
This place was highly recommended to us. Maybe we were there on an off night.Id barely looked at my menu when the server asked us to hurry and select as they had a large crowd coming in and she wanted to get our orders in as soon as possible. I found that a bit tacky. My wife ordered the prime rib. I had the half rack of ribs. both of us asked for Cole slaw and mac and cheese. We hadnt really paid attention to the others orders but both heard the server say, So, youre both getting exactly the same thing. Minutes after we ordered we were talking this over and found that we hadnt ordered the same thing. We flagged down the waitress (difficult as she was distracted - the place was full of locals, many of them seemed to be her friends and she was making sure to give them lots of attention). She said shed put both our orders in for the half rack of ribs and there was nothing she could do about it. My wife was far too gracious and said shed settle for the ribs. Is this really what they think is good business? When they make a mistake, the customer needs to just deal with it because they dont to fix it?The ribs were okay and had decent flavor, but they were tough and hard to pry from the bone. They have one sauce that has a great flavor, nice and bold. One sauce is basically honey mustard. Another seemed to be nothing but thin ketchup. The Cole slaw lacked any real personality, despite the chunks of pineapple tossed into it. The mac and cheese was good, but cold.We had to flag the server down a couple of times to ask for drink refills. Then she was nowhere to be found when we wanted dessert and someone else took our order for dessert (Im guessing she was one of the owners - much more friendly and accommodating than our server).Im sure well be back to Bellevue one day and well probably give the Flatted Fifth another chance. For a place with so many great reviews, we were surprised at how mediocre it came across.
Dec 2023 will be retiring and possibilities of closing. Good service, Good food, I would recommend getting a meal before its gone
Amazing home -cooked Southern BBQ and sides! Stopped at this place while just taking a scenic drive down the Mississippi River Rd. From the outside looks like you might want to keep driving but youll be very surprised when you walk in. Plus, we always say the best places are the places you least expect! Did I mention that EVERYTHING is HOME-COOKED yumminess?!?!
Best place to eat in the Tri-State area. Their Mac and Cheese is the best Ive ever had. They are great with kids. Their meals are always superb without a huge pricetag. Thay have a great assortment of craft beer as well.
Great food, great building, great staff! Perfect for meat eaters and so impressed to see some vegan options too! Live music on Fridays
Service was very slow and all Owner/Manager could say was he was very short staffed. Food was cold and under done on my plate but over cooked on my sisters. Took an hour from the time we were seated till our meal came then it was only the sides and not the main course. Was another 20 mins before the main part of our meal came. Was not impressed at all.
One word.... FANTASTIC!!! Everything was fantastic... stopped by for lunch on our way through, we have been here before for dinner, but now I know the lunch menu is great also. Make sue you try the Mac and cheese!!! Server Kyle was awesome!!
Great food. Loved the shrimp and cheesey grits. Staff was very friendly and accommodating!! We will definitely stop back whenever we are in the area!!!
Awesome place to visit, and eat. Food was fantastic. Having a little southern food up here was awesome.
Wonderful restaurant, service, and food! Loved the atmosphere, everyone was so friendly and welcoming. Would definitely return again.
Staff happily accommodated my food sensitivities with items not on their menu. Amazing service. Super nice owner. Oh, and food was AMAZING too!
Only reason you got 4 stars is because I couldnt try more stuff on the menu. I dont get back to my hometown of Bellevue too often. But, this place is a gem. You know how I know? I live in the Deep South. When a smokehouse/bbqs place in Iowa has mac and cheese on the menu as a side, you know they know what theyre doing! Ill leave it at that. Super place!
The bar tender was the best. Did anything you asked of him & kept it friendly. It was busy, & after finally getting a table the server was ok but not the best. If it wasnt for the bartender it wouldnt have 5 stars. Keep up the awesome customer service bro!! Drinks great, food was great but gotta like smoked or bbq as it is a bbq place.
We came to Dimensional for the beer and decided to get lunch while we were there. I had the pulled pork and it was delivered room temp with no sauce, no flavor, and my bun had green spots on the bottom. I was trying to be forgiving due to COVID but seriously? No to mention that my bun crumbled into tiny pieces when trying to eat it. I ended up ditching the bun and eating the meat, which I covered in their watery bbq sauce. The chicken wings were clearly made the day(s) before and lacked flavor. The brisket was good though! Also be ware, the corn bread comes doused in honey and I’m not exactly a honey girl :/ We won’t be stopping for food again.
Really cool atmosphere but food across the board is ok but took 50 minutes to come out. Also found it a little disappointing the owners sit in the dining room and have personal conversations with the staff.
Really good southern food, lots of history and very friendly service. Owner even came out and checked on us. Will be coming back!
Food was absolutely amazing! Restaurant is very clean, great atmosphere. Server was very nice, attentive, but didnt hover. I was very impressed!
Was a disappointment. Over priced for quality of food. My GF thought was very noisy. She did not like her steak at all. I thought the Salmon dinner was OK/good.
We were in the area and stopped in for a quick lunch. The food was great! Highly recommend the pull pork, brisket and baked beans.
A truly unique experience and one found quite by accident while wandering the roadways near Dubuque, Iowa. Respectful of Covid protocols and offering multiple unique menu items we thoroughly enjoyed the experience and know you would too.
Stopped in for lunch last Tuesday while camping at a nearby park. First thing we noticed was that none of the employees were wearing masks. I asked the maitre d about it about it and she replied, somewhat gruffly, that we dont have to wear masks in this town. I responded that we dont have to eat here either and left. This is the attitude while Iowa is ranked currently as one of the highest covid states. Amazing!
Great atmosphere and friendly staff! Live music was awesome (Avey Grouse Band). Owners very welcoming! We will be back.
Great food, excellent service, and good entertainment. I couldnt ask for more. A great place to spend a Saturday evening! It is worth the drive.
Great BBQ in a one-of-a-kind setting. Bellevue is a great little river town and Flatted Fifth is a must if youre passing through.
This is the new name for Potters Mill!!the new owners are so friendly and go to great lengths to make sure your visit is perfect!!food is amazing!!Entertainment, the best!!get there soon folks, you wont be disappointed!!
Loved the chicken pot pie and macaroni and cheese. Great service, good atmosphere, and even better when they have live music. If youre in Bellevue, this place is a MUST!!!
Burnt ends were amazing! Served on smoked fries. I had the Jambalaya and it was very authentic and had a good amount of spiciness. Very good ranch dressing!
A very flavorful beef brisket and good sauces to choose from. Great, cheerful service too. Ill definitely stop again the next time Im in Bellevue.
Yes! I went when it was slow. The food took a while and the server got the order wrong. It was still a great meal. I heard it was a great time on the weekends. If I’m back by there, I’ll go back.
The food was delicious. Mark and Rachel Herman, were great hosts. The music was great. Well definitely be back.
The best restaurant in Bellevue! Music is always great, food is to die for, and the gumbo and prime rib are out of this world! Only wish the prime rib was available daily!!!
Went hoping for live music but they still dont have it. Food was a little pricey but worth the price. Excellent service!
It was an hour drive but would definitely go back just for the food. An unexpected surprise was the band that played, The Altered Five Blues Band, AWESOME!
Delightful venue. Delicious food, fresh and well-prepared, seasoned perfectly. Live music sounds great. Dont miss this place!
Some of the best smoked meat Ive had outside of the major bbq meccas. Fantastic. If you are thinking of making the trip here, do it! You wont be disappointed.
Great atmosphere, had live music Valentines night. Service was excellent and the food was great. One of our favorite spots in Bellevue
Even during the covid-19 times, the food was very good and the drinks solid!I look forward to returning and seeing live blues!
This place is located in a great old building. Good food at a decent price. Service was a little slow but overall a good experience.
Totally loved it! Flatted Fifth was awesome. Our server was so friendly, and the food was superb! Best prime rib ever!
Not only is the atmosphere good and the wait staff wonderful and the food excellent but they are also gluten free friendly. I love this place!
Need more help only one waitress for whole place. What do they pay? Food was good. Took a long time to get it
The food was great! Our waitress was great! The atmosphere was great! It was just a very enjoyable evening with great food and service.
Neat spot. Super quiet inside - needed some better backround tunes. Felt like a library. Server was good and helpful. Food wasnt great.
Excellent food. Charming, welcoming atmosphere. The music offerings are 5-star. The wait staff is very friendly.
First time to the area and Flatted was recommended by someone we ran in to in Clinton. The food was delicious, and our service was fantastic!
Amazing food, service and location. Beautiful inside and the food was spectacular. Will be going again next time in Iowa.
Tremendous food. Brisket was cooked perfect. I would buy all of the Mac and Cheese that they have if I was able to.
Such good southern BBQ food! And loved the atmosphere. Everyone was super nice, too.
Perfect as usual. The food was amazing. The wait staff was attentive. Just waiting for the music to come back!
Excellent food and venue. 2st class all the way. Bellevue Iowa is so fortunate to have such a great place for food and entertainment. Thank you!
Theres a GREAT band there tonight (Feb 16) I wish I could come but cant...Introduce yourself to Mark (Mark Cameron Band)...Ask him for one of his CDs....tell him Randy will pay for it!!!!
Beef Brisket was to die for. It is so good. Large table slection of BBQ saucs.Worth the drive to Bellevue to eat. And see the Eagles on the Mississippi river.
Very picturesc, Very interesting storyline, delicious Cajun Menu, groups under 6 do not need reservations.
Overpriced and overrated. A quarter of the menu items they didnt have and what they did have was subpar. The only thing worth getting at this place is the barbeque.
Highly recommended place. Great staff, great owners, fantastic food. Thank you for the great conversation.
This place is amazing! Has great gluten free options. Worth the road trip but recommend reservations.
Barbaque sauce is bland out of a table bottle. Room temp. Seemed watery. Meat was excellent. Staff was great
Great food & atmosphere. Live band the night we came too! We had a really fun night!
Seriously good Q. The brisket is amazing. Try the loaded fries and the beans too
Great food, owners are wonderful, excellent staff
Great place to be on a Sunday afternoon! Loved the food and atmosphere. Chris is a great bartender!
Fantastic food and service. Best pulled pork I’ve ever had. I’ll be coming back!
Beautiful old mill. Ambiance is perfect, great music and excellent BBQ. Stopped here for lunch. Sooo glad we did :)
Unique atmosphere with amazing food. Hands down the best place Ive eaten in iowa. No contest.
Love the building. Service was slow and it wasnt busy so no excuse there. We were underwhelmed by the food. Pricey. For the price I should be blown away.
Servings could be a lil bigger but wow had the brisket sandwich and with red bbq sauce and wow i could have eaten 3 more sandwiches!! Great place highly recommend!!
This place just keeps getting better. Quaint location in a wooden grain mill. BBQ is great. Get a nice frothy one from the bar to quench a thirst.
I have been there a couple of times, food good 1st time, sucked the 2nd time, but music was awesome
Awesome. Brisket was a 10 plus. They make their own bbq sauces. Excellent.
Love the atmosphere and the music!! Took awhile to get our food but it was yummy!
Lovely place, fabulous food and nice drinks. Enjoyed our afternoon lunch here.
Great food , and the service was even better. We (22) people made comments how well they worked a LG group
Fantastic service, amazing food. What atmosphere, as well. A real gem.
The food was okay. Ribs were probably the best thing we tried. Portions werent over the top.
Great tap beer selection and best music in the tri-state. Oh ya save room for the food too.
Good food, great service and atmosphere..will return especially when the music does..
I fell in love with this old mill. The people who worked there were the best!

Great food, service drinks, and live music on weekends. All in a restored mill.
They werent open. Even though phone said they were. Look forward to the next trip.
Havent had a meal there that I didnt love, all the food its great and the drinks selection didnt leave you wanting either!
We had friends out from Chicago that love bbq. We had a great time with outstanding food.
Some of the best smoked wings and food weve ever had, plus amazing sauces
Great atmosphere and food! One of the few places in the area to get real poboys!
Were so sad to hear of your closing. 😔
Service was great. Food was great. We will definitely be coming back.
Id order the fried chicken again! Neat atmosphere too.
Best Cajun food we have had outside of New Orleans.
Great experience here, if u want bbq food and are in the area its worth a visit
The service the food and the cocktails were excellent
Great place, a taste of Cajun culture. Worth going to instead of the same old same old.
Hands down the best southern food I have had including in the south!
Great food and fun atmosphere for your night out!
Service was terrible. Food was overcooked. Waited 40 minutes before being told it would be 25 minutes before potatoes were ready. Wont try it again.
We had a great time! Good food and great staff!
Unique opportunity in a small community... quality environment with good live music.. will return for sure..
Owners very nice. Food was above average, but, not great.
