The owner was racist towards my friend— he wouldn’t accept her state ID because it had Chinese characters on it (it is also written in English) but accepted mine (I am White British). I asked him for more information to clarify and he told me he was not allowed to take ID that was not issued by the state. Once again, my friends ID was state-issued– when pressed, he said I cant understand this because its in Chinese (once again– it is written in English, too). We left and were very disappointed by the experience, and wont be returning. If you want to watch football there are friendlier (and better quality) bars up the road.
Great spot to catch a casual game of soccer, or be a part of a football nation.Very good selection of beer, and they even have classic cocktails lol
One of my favorite bars in the whole country. If you wanna watch a soccer game this is the place, if you wanna have a great pretzel, this is the place, if you wanna relax and grab a drink after work THIS is the place. Banter has it all. They show all the BPL and all the World Cup qualifiers... they have it all.
Long overdue review of this gem :) Best place in all of New York to watch premier league games. The team behind the bar is amazing. Awesome selection of beers, spirits etc and if you get hungry they make very good sausages! But even if you don’t come here to watch a game you’ll still have a good time.
Great place to go grab a pint, some food and catch a game! Limited options on menu but the sausage platter I tried for lunch was very good. Proper pour on a Guinness too.
This is a great Irish bar! And they love futbol!!! Or do you call it soccer? Six screens dedicated to the greatest game in the world. Plus artwork throughout the walls of great players throughout history - Messi, Ronaldo, Maradona and The Hand of God... Luis Suarez too...And in case I was not sure of the futbol fandom the urinals left no doubt about it. Freaking awesome - Goooooooollll
Great soccer and sports bar. They will put on any game you want. Good beer menu, $8 beers. Its one of my favorite bars to go to after dinner if you want to keep the conversation going with friends. Service was patience and kind to us both times I went this month.
Eh, didnt love this place. Went on a Wednesday night, which would explain why it was nearly empty, but overall I didnt get great service from the bartender, and the whole place had a bit of a weird smell to it. But the beer list wasnt bad, and if you love soccer, this would be a solid place to go hang.
Visiting NY and needed to keep up with the Premier League back home. Friendly, welcoming atmosphere, with a great selection of drinks on tap. Couple of screens around the bar, and they have the sound is ON during the games. A great phrase printed on their custom scarfs “Football never sleeps”. I can drink to that!
Easily the best football pub in the boroughs. Great beer selection on tap, fair prices, and lively atmosphere. Added bonus: Wednesday night trivia. Worth stopping by.
They love their football. Amazing vibe for soccer fans
Amazing spot for watching futbol and insanely good selection of brews.Too many Liverpool fans tho.
The best banter in Brooklyn! Defo worth stopping in for a game sometime
Great bar in Brooklyn, it is a soccer bar but not really for any one club and on Saturdays you will see a plethora of different club shirts coming and going from early. Awesome drinks, good food and most importantly friendly long time bar staff.
Game here to watch the Manchester derby at 11:30am. Had a lovely few pints and a complimentary shot. Jonny Evans is a red
Best bar for in Williamsburg hands down. Especially for soccer.
Great people, great games, great beers. Banter breathes the beautiful game. You can start your day at 7am in England, glide into the Bundesliga (shoutout Brooklyn Borussen), and reach noon with the European top games. Catch the 2pm LaLiga game to lead you into MLS time and finish with the superclasico. All in a days work. The menu is limited, but the fine assortment of sausages or the prosciutto panini can hold you over a few games. It gets crowded for the big teams but always fun.Hands down the best footy bar in Brooklyn.
Good selection of beers. Small sized, yet filling options for food. Service was top notch for our group of 8 in the outdoor area. Place wasnt busy which may have been a reason for the availability of staff to meet us. I would return especially to catch a variety of soccer (football) matches.
Great place!!! Owners were two lovely guys who welcomed myself and my family as if we had been coming here for years. Good food and quick service and a very clean little pub. Great place to watch a Spurs game. Would have just liked to have had more food options but the panini we did get was very good. Thanks for a nice afternoon guys and look forward to seeing you again.
Great bar in the heart of Williamsburg! Games, TV’s, ample seating both indoor and outdoor. Lively atmosphere right on the corner. Bartender made us a lemon drop even though not on the menu, and he made it with fresh lemon. Small efforts to go the extra mile make a big difference in the dining experience. Highly recommend!!
Great bar for soccer fans. The owner put on every single premier league game and really any major European game if he has a way to see it. Coffee is available if the game is early if the morning, and good sandwich and beer for later on. Great atmosphere
Great sports bar with a love for soccer and beer. Banter has so many beers on tap or bottled. They have a small food menu and the bartenders are great and usually knowledgeable on helping with your beer selection. Also find it cool that they have a collection of soccer scarves from local and international teams. If theres a big game, make sure you arrive early cause it can get crowded.
Great outdoor setup with TVs and speakers. Pretty large menu for a sports bar. And lots of options for draft beers, cans, bottles, and wine - even non alcoholic options. Fun place to watch a game!
Great beer, great vibe. Its the best place around to watch soccer.
Now this is a top place for a proper pint of Guinness, excellent service and really friendly vibe - staff & clientele. A real plus, when visiting the area - unlike some other places! Highly recommend if you want to watch a premier league match. Enjoy!!
The best bar in the neighborhood. Their constantly rotating beer menu has a wide variety of brews for any palette. They have a solid food menu (mushroom panini is top) which is available late. They will also play just about any televised sport if you ask nicely. The staff is also incredibly kind and attentive. Do not skip this pub!
Great, friendly bar with a fantastic selection of beers, IPAs and lager. Loads of screens for watching proper football (soccer) and have pretty much show every match if its available. A definite stop off for UK football fans if youre desperate to watch a match.
Excellent mix of night life and quiet comfort. You can have a party and a conversation at the same time! The staff is the best in town and the beer selection might be as well. If youre a soccer fan this is your place. Theres no team allegiance so all fans are welcome. If youre not a soccer fan... most games are in the morning so this is still your place.
American “soccer” fans are hilarious. say things like “push it” and “Kai havertz sucks” and think everything is a foul, expressed by saying CANT DO THAT. Loved it
Loved this bar! I was there on a Sunday at the tail end of a soccer game and the vibe was really fun! There are several TVs and big screens, so I see why its ideal for game watching. We ended up talking to quite a few people while we were there - it attracts a good crop of people! They have quite a few staple promotional programs like playing Game of Thrones on Sunday nights which is fun. They have some European beers on tap that Ive never seen before, but really enjoyed. I will for sure be back!
I like the vibe here, really chilled and relaxed. Everyone here seems to understand the idea of just having a good time, and best of all very friendly (not talking about the staff). The bar can get super packed, so get there early, especially if Liverpool is playing. Ive been to only one football bar in Brooklyn, and this place is good enough for me not to visit another.
Fantastic bar with some delicious beers. Massive shout out to Corey who had great chat and gave us a fantastic restaurant tip. Pomp and circumstance was spot on. Great shout. Thank you!
The best sports bar in Brooklyn
This place is awesome. The bartender/owner was super friendly, knowledgeable about beers, and willing to give people samples. They have 24 taps with a lot of interesting variety. As I ate a nice vegetarian curry pie and sipped on a somewhat locally brewed (NY state) Belgian style ale, I thought I might really enjoy living in Williamsburg.
Great as a soccer bar and great as a regular bar. The staff are all incredibly nice. For soccer, theres no official team affiliation, though Red Bulls, NYCFC, Tottenham, Arsenal, and USMNT are all well represented among the regulars. Great beer selection that rotates frequently and some nice twists on bar food.
Larger than most bars. Plenty of screens for Premier League football. Reasonable selection of beer.
We recently went here during the World Cup to watch England v Sweden. Got so busy the doors were locked at 08.30! Was absolutely packed but these guys can handle it. Amazing atmosphere and these guys really know how to put on a show. Top drawer!
Great atmosphere was one of a fee places I was able to see the great game of football. Atmosphere was wonderful, I had a bottle cider. We stopped off on our way from the station before checking in.
This place is nothing to write home about, but its a damn solid find. Its a pretty typical pub. The food isnt gourmet, but its perfectly acceptable at a pretty reasonable price. And they have a few vegan options, which is useful in an area that we found surprisingly lacking in that area. Perhaps we had higher expectatons, being used to the availability in Philly. The beer selection is great, and the bartender I met was extremely knowledgeable on the available brews. Its a spot that doesnt pretend to be anything other than what it is, and thats refreshing in an area absolutely saturated with mediocre chefs trying to pass their meals off as gourmet.
This is a great bar if you like watching soccer/football and a decent one if you dont. They have an OK beer selection but no great, prices are good for the area 6-9$ per draft. I think cans are cheaper. The food is decent but the portions arent big so dont expect to be filled up from one panini or pie. They also do trivia nights which are fun and not like any other bar trivia Ive been to, mostly due to the MC being a very strange, funny character. Id say the biggest con is that the credit card system was down the last two times I was here, making it cash only. Not a big deal but they do advertise as accepting cards so for the first time patron that can be a downside. Overall, a nice place to spend a morning/afternoon/evening with fellow football fanatics, the bartender/owner included.
My top favorite bar to watch soccer. Lovely crowd that really get you in the moment. Well priced beers and quick service. Anytime I need a place to meet with friends to watch a Game we got to banter.
This bar is a good place to drink and watch TV. There was a Bloody Mary special the time I was there. Also, a buddy of mine went there to eat with me and the food was delicious. This was during the time of the Olympics where there was a good selection of TV there to watch different sports. Would definitely come back to drink again.
Their cocktails are so weak. I went there with a little buzz had two cocktails (dark stormy spicy I believe) and sobered up. What a let down. My friend however being an intelligent person on the second drink ordered a double shot. The service is excellent.
Arsenal played a flawless first half. High pressure. Excellent ball movement. Jesus and Odegaard connection is blossoming. Top it off with a Saliba top corner bender. We’ve got super Mik Arteta. And he knows just exactly what we need.
Not much to say about this, it’s your run of the mill neighborhood dive bar. However, the fooseball table in the back is an added bonus and can be a great way to connect with other patrons. What surprised me was that this bar was almost empty on a Wednesday night.
Among the places I will miss most after moving away, Banter is an elegant public house-style bar. In a neighborhood that can be obnoxiously trendy, Banter stands among a select few bars that feel built on quality, warmth, friendliness. Great, rotating tap. Good whiskey / bourbon selection. Excellent for morning soccer or late-night conversation.
Best bar to watch soccer in NYC, hands down. Great beer selection, super friendly bartenders and loyal fans. Open for every match you need to watch
I love it here. it’s the best place to watch soccer in brooklyn. i don’t even want to tell people about it because i don’t want them coming here and taking up space. everyone that works here is the best person ever. i love it
Easily the best soccer bar in the area. Banter shows everything from PL to Serie A. They host NYCFC and RBNY fans on away match days, along with several other supporters groups of different clubs in different leagues. The staff show an amazing commitment to their customers and are usually willing to show any match if you ask - unless there’s a scheduled watch party or big event. There is a full bar, small bites, paninis, two projector screens, three televisions, a foosball table, and a dartboard.World Cup days are massively packed, rowdy, and a hell of a lot of fun. Arrive early to get a place to see the screen.Banter is run by kind people who are knowledgeable about the game. I recommend this place to tourists and locals alike. You’ll be welcome here, no matter who you support.
The staff served me in less than 2 minutes, even though a huge soccer (football) crowd had formed to watch the game. Very friendly. I will return. I believe Annie was my bartender. Ask for her.
Great place to catch football (soccer) games while enjoying some beers and pub food like kielbasa, sandwiches, savory pies. They do seen short staffed, unfortunately, so the service at times was very slow, but hey these are tricky times.
Great for watching footbal (soccer)! Has games hard to find elsewhere, okay beer selection too. Could get 4 stars if snacks/food was better.
Amazing bar for soccer and sports. Great beer and food. Owners and bartenders are the best.
Fun place to watch Premier/Champions League games in Brooklyn. Decent pint of Guinness in proper (UK) glasses. Extremely generous whiskey pour too!
Tragically, its a racist bar. Unless you are of the white race. Team evaluation. My apologies. Because they were Spanish, you made my friends feel unwelcome. Never will I set foot there.
Banter is lit, it takes all kinds to start that fire early on weekends, but quiet most evenings if youre looking to miss all that. Foosball and Catan and wild taps to keep you on your toes.My only wish is that foosball table pays itself off and its made to be free, get a real cult going. Shouts out to the generous hosts behind the bar. Fun and Human crew.
Great find! Watched Man U beat Arsenal 3.1. Staff were great - loads of banter just like the name suggests :)
Great service, food and beer selection. Atmosphere is welcoming.Owners are class acts making you want come back again and again.
There’s a trivia night every other wednesday and it was so fun!
GREAT BAR, great beer selection, great soccer atmosphere. Meet up there with the BVB fan club, Brooklyn Borussen. Our home away from home.
Friendly bartenders, with a large selection of beer both on tap and on bottle. Prices can really not be beat, especially during the football matches. English pub vibe with the decor to match.
Banter is my favorite bar in Brooklyn. The atmosphere is great, the people are great and the bartenders are really nice. Great place to hang out with friends or grab a drink by yourself
My hubby and I co-host an annual Halloween party here with our friends. It’s their favorite local bar. We’re almost never in Brooklyn, but when we are, Banter is always a welcoming spot.
Amazing staff. Make sure to make reservations for big matches. Great soccer bar!
Great place for watching European football games, great atmosphere and fans, fine beers and cool staff, 3 or 4 big screens with different games simultaneously, preferred by football level, dont expect any French football game there on Saturday
Best sports bar in the world.. Ok not the world, but it is a great sports bar with a great crew. Come on over and enjoy a pint and a game..
Great sports bar, friendly sports aficionados, affordable, excellent drinks, lots of fun!
Good beers, nice atmosphere, nice people. No dessert, but they so serve food. They do have foosball table. I found them as part of a meetup.
Solid spot to watch the footie, i think they’re a tottenham pub because i saw a few white hart lane flags around. 90s kids would know what i’m talking about.
Great vibes. Will be back.
Great beer selection, the man knows his beer. Bought a dope t-shirt, and Ill be back soon. Greetings from Colombia, and slaintè

A great place to watch EPL matches.
Great staff, eclectic selection of beers and whiskies, comfortable decor and one of the best football (soccer) bars in NYC!
Best football bar in NYC as far as I’m concerned.
Surprisingly good beer selection from an otherwise fairly routine bar. One big projector TV in the rear, and some good local beers, but nothing remarkable.
Great place to watch a game. Expansive drink menu. Can get crowded, but usually a good time.
Great beer selection. Typically quiet unless there’s a soccer match on.
Solid place to watch soccer if you dont mind the crowds. Arrive very early for EPL games if you want a seat.
