After visiting a Helium club in another city, I really appreciated how the seating was way more spaced out at this club where I wasnt shoulder to shoulder with the table next to us. The bar area was nice too, more open and had a better flow to it. 10/10 show experience, I had been waiting to see Duncan Trussell for months no whatever which venue but definitely also grateful for the club helping that experience be great all around too. Will be back for more shows and excited to visit again!
We had a great time at the Josh Johnson show, our first visit to Helium. Arrived at 9:20 for a 10pm show, had reserved seats, no problems with parking ( we parked on the street). Lobby was full when we arrived. There seems to be a separate line for reserved ticket holders once you get your tickets. Doors opened on time. We ended up with front row seats because there were only 2 of us... next row was parties of 4, larger groups seated farther back on larger tables. The Mediterranean combo platter was a good choice. I was not a fan of the Spring Fizz drink special I ordered ... but it might have been the combination with the olives on the platter! Table service was excellent. With reserved seats you are seated first and we got service right away. The evening went much more smoothly than the scary how to instruction email we received prior to the show.
Great comedy spot. Been there a handful of times now and they bring in some awesome talent and new people I havent heard much about. Venue is intimate, good food menu, plenty of drinks and beer to choose from, and the service is fast. They do a good job of keeping on top of replenishing drinks or food throughout. Got a nice bar area too to grab a drink prior to the show if you get there early. The will call is easy, just buy the tickets and show up under your name right before the show and youre set. I will for sure be back.
I love live comedy and go to see 20+ comedians a year. But honestly, out of all the places I go, nothing beats the environment at Helium Comedy Club (Buffalo). Its a fun atmosphere, often the comedians will sell merch or do signings after, and it is all around a great time. Love this place!
Absolutely love it here!!! The comedians are sweet (at least the ones Ive seen) and the menu is quite good for bar foods! Love the cuddles on the beach drink! Also, the staff and security are so kind to people with medical disorders.
I had a great time at the show and the staff were friendly. However, I didnt like being forced to essentially purchase two items. I have never been somewhere with rules like that. If you are going to force folks to consume food and beverages at least make sure they are A+ quality. My food was cold and the drink was made with cheap well liquor that instantly gave me a headache.
Alright, let me tell you about my night at Helium Comedy Club in Buffalo, NY. Picture this: a cozy room filled with the scent of popcorn and laughter, dim lights casting just the right amount of ambiance to make everyone’s faces glow with anticipation. I found myself a perfect spot, not too close to the stage because, lets face it, I didn’t want to become part of the show!Helium Comedy Club is a gem in Buffalo, a haven for anyone who loves a good laugh. The staff? Absolute legends. They keep the drinks flowing and the snacks coming without missing a beat. They’ve mastered the art of balancing trays of nachos while dodging the wild gesticulations of comedians. I’ve got to give props to the person who decided on the club’s name too. Helium. Because what better way to describe a place that makes you feel light as air from laughing so hard? Now, the star of the night was none other than Drew Lynch. If you haven’t heard of him, you’ve probably been living under a rock. Drew Lynch is that guy who turned a life-altering injury into comedy gold. He’s got this stutter that he jokes about so effortlessly, it’s like watching a magician at work. One minute you’re feeling empathetic, the next you’re laughing so hard you snort. And trust me, you’re not alone – the whole room was in stitches.Drew walks onto the stage, and there’s this instant connection. He’s got that charm that makes you feel like you’re old friends catching up over a drink. His jokes? They’re like a rollercoaster – you’re buckled in, you know it’s going to be wild, and you can’t wait for the ride. He talks about his life, his fiancée, his dog, and somehow, even the most mundane stories become comedic masterpieces. At one point, he starts talking about how he once tried to order a coffee but his stutter made it sound like he wanted “a-a-a-a-a latte.” The barista just stared at him, confused, and Drew’s reenactment of the whole scenario had the audience roaring with laughter. I swear, I was clutching my sides, trying to keep my laughter in check because it was getting dangerously close to an ab workout. And don’t even get me started on his interaction with the audience. There was this one guy, let’s call him Steve, who became an accidental part of the show. Drew’s quick wit turned Steve’s random comments into punchlines that had us all in tears. It’s like Drew has this superpower where he can take any situation and make it hilarious. As the show wrapped up, the applause was thunderous. People were standing, clapping, whistling – you name it. Drew Lynch had us all under his comedic spell, and we didn’t want the night to end. Walking out of Helium Comedy Club, I felt lighter, happier, and, let’s be honest, a little bit like I’d done a thousand crunches from laughing so hard. So, if you ever find yourself in Buffalo and in need of a serious laugh, Helium Comedy Club is the place to be. And if Drew Lynch is performing? Well, buckle up, my friend, because you’re in for a night you won’t soon forget. Just be sure to bring some tissues – you know, for the happy tears and all that snorting.
Is any comedy always better than no comedy? YES! After many visits I have noticed a trend in this wonderful comedy venue, so I look forward to unique and culturally diverse learning experiences for my lily white *ss. If you arent down with that, then just book your visit on nights when the comics face looks more like your own rather than not. Regardless, the entertainment and munchies are top notch. Im thinking about attending a dirty show because, well, I am known as Inappropriate Pete after all (in certain circles).
Paid just shy of $90 online for tickets to see Becky Robinson. Showed up early as reccomended. When I arrived, it was total chaos entering the venue. No staff to greet you or give direction. The photos included were the line to collect my will call tickets, which is the only way to collect tickets purchased online (no option for a virtual ticket). After waiting some time in line, at 8:10pm, 20 min before show start, with no movement in the line, I left the venue as there was no possible way I would have received my tickets in time for the show. Get ur suff together. Every other venue has a virtual ticket. Unreal. I prob will never return. Thanks for ruining my wifes and my plans for our 10 year anniversary.
RUDE MANAGER AND WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE DEFINITELY NEVER COMING BACK AGAIN.During the show today, the waitress clumsily spilled water all over my girlfriend. While I understand accidents happen, my girlfriend was left sitting in a cold, air-conditioned room, soaked and extremely uncomfortable. The waitress was apologetic and brought us paper towels, assuring us that the drink was on the house. She also brought a complimentary shot as an apology. However, when the bill arrived, the drink was still on it, along with an extra drink we never ordered. We were sharing a table with others, and it was their drink that was comped for because “it didn’t go through the system,” for them, while we got nothing but a pathetic $5 shot and a $1.30 discount.I asked the waitress to remove the charges as she had promised. She consulted her manager, who then gave us a paltry 10% -$1.3 discount on the drink she said was on the house. The discriminatory service was infuriating and ruined our whole date. The entire experience was utterly ruined, and the least the manager could have done was honor his employee’s word and remove the charge. After the show, I spoke with the manager, who was extremely rude and seemed to think that a free shot and a laughable $1.30 discount could fix the situation, while the people next to us received free drinks due to a simple system error. This was the worst customer service we have ever experienced. We will definitely never return.
Great atmosphere. Amazing menu. Great memories seeing the likes of Mick Foley, Emo Phillips, and Tommy Davidson. Always guaranteed a good time.
Love the helium they bring Alot of great named comedians here for a great price making you purchase two items Alot of people dont agree with but the place has to make money you only paying $30 for a ticket so I guess its cool but if I come in before hand to eat I dont feel I should be forced to buy anything else also this last event we had to pay for parking it was only $5 but still just a lil rant Im going to continue to come here
Went to see JP Sears last night and we were impressed with the layout, staff, and organization of the event. We had a phenomenal time and will definitely be back!Nicole-Fort Erie Home Group
If youre looking for an inexpensive night out. This is the place! Great comedians. Had a ton of fun. Food and drinks are moderately priced for what youre getting. Pics were not allowed though, sorry for not having any.
Its nice to be able to see the comics face. I like that some well-known comics still come to smaller venues. Helium isnt a bad place by any means. Its just smaller inside, and their food isnt too bad either. Id recommend that you get reserved seating. Its worth paying the extra money to know you have a reserved seat. This way, if you want to come closer to the time the comic starts, you can. Its rough waiting to get into the stage room because they dont have a lot of room to work with inside the club. On that note, it still is a fun experience, and if you have never been gooo!!!! :)
7pm Akash Show, I like this Club a bunch !!Good Comedy Guests, Friendly Security staff and Ticket processing is smooth. But service is bad , Server was bad ruined the overall experience for me. Payed $70 for finger food just to leave the food at the table due to waiter having horrible energy and providing no service , food got cold, no condiments etc . Billed me early and watched closely as I didnt offer a tip on his Tablet lol... didnt return to the table rest of night (only came by twice in 2.5Hrs).Comedy part is great, just eat before coming, dont bother with the food service/servers.
I’ve been coming here for 6yrs. No problems! However the last 3 shows I attended. We paid the bill & asked for our receipt & NEVER received them! We asked the server multiple times but we never received our receipt. The show ended & the server disappeared!! It’s getting annoying…
Havent been to a comedy show in years. Heard Desi Banks was in town. Ordered my tickets online. You will be better off going in person to the box office and purchase your tickets to avoid all the extra fees online. Made reservations at the Elements restaurant which is right inside the comedy club. The menu is very selective. Not like it used to be. They used to have good entrées and just more of an option over all. Everything on the menu is fried food. The only healthy thing was a salad with the option to add fried chicken to it. Was very disappointed because I dont eat fried food and was really hungry. Just wish they bring back the old menu or just more options. The show itself was freaking hilarious. FYI there is a two item minimum purchase per person while you are seated in the showroom. Food or drinks purchased before entering the showroom will not count as your two items.
I just called to ask about reserving a seat to a show with tickets I won. The lady who answered informed me the show I wanted to go to was a special event so my ticket wasnt valid. Ok, cool I didnt know that. I was looking online at other comics and it happened to be that every person I looked at on the website said special event so she informed me of others that were Helium Presents. I said I dont see that on the tickets I was given to gain some clarity on how these tickets work. She informed me its on there. As Im looking at the ticket and starting to speak to ask if she could reserve us a spot for will call, because now Im willing to pay for my tickets, she RUSHES ME OFF THE PHONE before I could finish my sentence AND HANGS UP ON ME. Like girl.. I wasnt arguing with you for you to do that to me and I was about to legit make a reservation for two tickets that I was going to pay for if thats even possible. Very rude and poor customer service is what I received today. 3 stars because I like the venue and have never had a bad time there but todays customer service experience was completely inappropriate.
Unfortunately I cant leave a good review. Now I know that its not Heliums fault when a comedian cant make the show. I understand that. However, helium can control how they respond to it. Tonight, that response was a total failure.I went to will call at 6pm, gave them my name, and got what appeared to be my ticket. I noticed it was blank but I didnt think much of it. I was happy that I was in the door and waiting in line to be seated.Just moments after I received my ticket someone (whos name might have been Sean) let us all know that unfortunately Joe Gatto is stuck in NYC and cant make the 7pm show. However he can make the 9:30pm show, so that show will go on.Those were his words.I went back to will call (I was standing right there anyway) and was told that there would be a show tonight but that it would be local comedians, and since I wanted a refund I will get an email in an hour giving me that option. I told him again that I didnt want to wait for a refund and tried to give my ticket back to him. Thats when he told me that my ticket didnt matter because it wasnt really a ticket anyway.Well why give me a fake ticket at 6pm and let me think Im in line for the show when you know darn well there is no show? Why not just tell us that there wasnt going to be a show instead of playing this little game with us?I went outside to my car and considered weather I wanted to stay for the local show or drive back to Jamestown. I decided that since it was announced that Joe was going to be at the 9:30 show, that I would just buy a ticket to the 9:30 show. I drove an hour and a half to get here, I might as well see the later show. When I went back to willcall to tell him my plans and try to get the ticket for 9:30, he gave me an attitude and told me that there probably wasnt going to be a 9:30 show. Well you just had someone announce that there was going to be one. Hence why I bought the ticket to the show.I decided to go into the free show and wait till 9:30. at 7:15 I got the text that that show had also been canceled. The way that everything was handled was unacceptable. Dont tell us that there will be a 9:30 if your not sure. I trusted the man who told he would be there later tonight. And dont give us fake tickets knowing that its not real.I dont appreciate being lied to and played games with tonight.
I absolutely loved almost everything about this place. Great selection of drinks. Great performances and sweet, helpful staff. The only bone Id have to pick is that the food is a little too expensive for what you get. I got a cocktail The Punchline with an order of chips & queso. That was $27.
I dont have a lot of experience with comedy clubs, but this was really good! Friendly staff, large enough to fit a good-sized crowd but small enough to still see and hear everything. They had a meet and greet with the comedian afterward. The only negative was the 2 item rule. Each person must order 2 things off of the menu. Which I understand from a business aspect but we werent hungry and only wanted 1 alcohol drink each. If you go, plan to spend some money on menu items and make sure you have room in your belly.
I have been to helium comedy club about 4-5 times within the past year. Last night, I went with a group of 5 other girls and had a very bad experience. A couple of the girls were from out of state so when we went to order our drinks the waitress took our identifications to the back to get them scanned. This was completely understandable as they must ensure they do not serve underage customers. They held our ids in the back for over 30 minutes while we were completely ignored by the staff and not waited on. In the meantime, the security guard asked us to see a second form of identification. We showed him copies of our passports as a second form and he actually took them in the back to show the manager/or owner. We assured them we were of age, we explained that this was a college reunion/birthday celebration and that’s why everyone at the table was from different parts of the country. They actually asked me to call my father and spoke with him, which was very weird as I am an adult. We had full understanding that our ids needed to be checked and that the establishment needed to do their due diligence to insure they’re not serving minors but the way they treated us was disrespectful. What we were looking for was communication from the staff on why they couldn’t properly scan our IDs and why they were withholding them. When we asked for our IDs back after over 15 minutes of them holding them the waitress threatened to kick us out if we kept talking. Ultimately, they told us that we were unable to order any alcoholic drinks. We spoke to the manager/owner and he treated us as if we were young, immature, and doing something wrong, not like the professional adults we are. He made comments like “you’re not going to talk yourself into getting booze tonight” and “this is entirely up to my discretion”. He stated that one of the IDs wont scan, this is a problem on his end as all of the ID’s are real and all of us were over 21. Afterwards, we ended up at the casino where the IDs were properly scanned for entrance. Drinking alcohol was not our priority, although at helium comedy club there is a 2 item mimimim purchase per person. Prior to the show we had gone out for dinner and our plan was to order drinks to meet their requirement. While discussing this with the manager/owner he didn’t give us an option to not order anything or even the option to leave with a refund. Our friends came in from out of town and the comedy club was one of the main events of the weekend to celebrate our friends birthday. The staff and in particular the manager and waitress at Helium comedy club completely ruined our experience. Consequently, we elected to leave as we were unable to enjoy the comedy show. We spent > $220 to attend the show, I think that we deserved a refund and an apology as we missed the show due to their poor management and the way they handled our situation. In conclusion, I felt that the management treated us like children when in fact, we are professional adult women.
Great venue! Line before the show was a pretty cramped due to the small ticket/restaurant outside the show room but line moved fast thanks to the crew. Was aware of the required two menu items so came to the show hungry, however the items we ordered never showed! They didnt charge us as a result but was a pretty hungry drive to a nearby restaurant after the showing.
We had a great night. We went to see Emily Catalano. She was awesome. Intimate showspace allows for some interaction when appropriate. Food was not bad, but not memorable either. Servers were very efficient and personable. It was a nice evening out on a cold blowy night.
First time visiting and I loved it!Quick pickup of tickets at box office, quick line to get it, easy process to get seated! This might be a little weird to mention in a review, but it matters to me. Im glad they had seating that was fat-person friendly lol. Some places have tight, cramped spaces or seats (for a heavier person) but this was tables and I was comfortable and didnt feel crowded at all.Food was what youd expect from a bar-type venue. Good and arrived quickly.Friendly and helpful staff. Clean bathrooms.Would recommend 😊
Really a 3.5/5, but a 3 would not be fair enough. Being from NYC, going to comedy clubs is a norm. Buffalo unfortunately lacks good entertainment options, and is definitely the case when it comes to comedy clubs. I like and appreciate having Helium as an option, it is the only venue that offers shows on a consistent basis, sometimes bringing quality talent to Buffalo. It is a great option for dates! The food is your average bar-type food, and isnt bad. My only two gripes: they charge an 18% administration fee which was made clear to me is not a gratuity, and their drinks. I feel their drinks are always watered down, and when you order a double, I along with my date, feel there is no difference between a single and a double. This is irritating to me because there is a 2-drink minimum. The 2 gripes is not a deal breaker for me, and I will continue to go to this place because I generally have a good experience, which I believe most will as well.
Didnt have a lot of gluten free options and the 2 item minimum was pretty steep but the tickets were inexpensive and the venue was intimate so overall a great place to see comedy.
Seen the 10:00 Dan Soder show with my girlfriend. Couldn’t have been happier with the service. I sat in front row with the reserved seat which was $37 dollars a piece, great price for tickets. The two item minimum per person is well serviced, the Philly sliders were great and the cocktails very tasty. Served within 5 minutes every time, extremely efficient. Spent around $150 total on drinks and food but that includes more than enough drinks, so if you didn’t pregame it’s still within spending range (example: blue light draft is $6.00). The waitress was very courteous, and stopped by often to see if we were having.a good time. The staff was chill and funny which made me feel at ease with having to be front row and within the comedians range of fire! If your favorite comedian is coming here, then I suggest getting tickets asap!
The comedians are great but they have a 2 item minimum per person and then they add the tip in automatically. So expect an extra $50-$60 in addition to the ticket
Have to say, not great. Maybe just an off night but $32 per person to get in, $75 for sliders n few beers.. just not funny enough to justify. Ill try again, maybe.. if its a well-known comedian .. warm up acts need work.
The GM was super rude when asking how to get tickets for the show. And continued to be the rest of the night. Dan and Sam were amazing bartenders and greeted the patrons with friendly faces .
Comics were hilarious! Good atmosphere. I ordered the falafel and it was very overcooked! That was my only complaint
Staff and acts are 5/5. Security guard girl thinks she’s on her 2nd duty in Iraq. Can’t laugh at the comedy club. Security straight off indeed lol
We love seeing comedy at Helium Comedy Club! I really appreciate that they work hard to get popular, national names booked for dates at the club. I’ve always found the wait staff to be helpful and friendly. Food and beverage options have really improved over time since opening! I also had a great experience with their stand-up classes taught by Rick.
Food and drink was mildly disappointing for the prices but decent enough. Good venue for comedy shows but could do with better sound mixing.
My husband and I enjoyed our evening here seeing Randy Feltface - but we felt overwhelmed and intimidated by all of the rules and information we were given when we bought our tickets. As someone who is involved in theatre, I understand the need for so many rules up front, but there was so much information it made it feel almost hostile, considering that the establishment is a comedy club. We also found being interrupted the whole show by our waiter (who was very nice, this is not his fault) to be quite distracting. This place just isn’t for us and we probably won’t be coming back.Edit to add: the space also doesn’t seem like it’s large enough to fit all of the patrons. Maybe it’s because we saw a sold out show, but the line for the box office was super long and the line to wait to get into the show room was just as long. We made sure to arrive early, per the email, but we still had to wait a while.
2 item /person requirement was weird along with not counting items perchanced prior to show to count. But then automatic gratuity added insured our waiter didnt put in our order and ignored us half the night.....good thing the comedian was funny at least
The show was hilarious, we haven’t laughed that hard in a long time (but I guess that’s the point, right?). We stayed for a bit after the show and hung out at the bar, best move we made all night. Dan was our bartender and he was a blast! We had so much fun hanging out there with him, the comedians from the show, as well as their friends and family. Great experience and we can’t wait to return!
We can’t get enough - Helium is our favorite date night! We double date with our best friends and come to shows often - they always have a great list of comedians on the schedule to choose from, ticket prices are very reasonable, service is amazing and they’re very organized. Last night we were there (one of many shows we’ve been to) and it was hands down the best show we’ve ever seen. We also sat at the bar for a bit before the show & the bartender was phenomenal, he took great care of us and was just amazing. We will be back, many times!
Very nice club!! I always have a good time. Drinks are good too
Tim Meadows was hilarious!! This is our second time going to the Helium Comedy Club. I like that its a smaller venue because that means theres no bad seat in the house!
Bought tickets way ahead of time for a show only to be seated at the very back and when calling the phone number they provided, they told us to speak to a manager which they dont even had around. Never again coming to this place. Waste of time and money.
Atmosphere and staff are great, I’ve always had a great experience at shows here… but the hidden fees just keep climbing and climbing.I get the standard 2-item minimum, but a $7 “service charge” per ticket and an 18% “administrative fee” on the bill? That’s completely ridiculous, and their competition in Rochester doesn’t do any of it.If you need to charge $60/ticket, then just charge $60/ticket.
Review of facility, not entertainment, which can vary. Clean, modern, lots of parking (free if there are no large events at nearby facilities). All seating has clear sightlines to stage. Sound system (acoustics?) could have been better or it may have been that the person on the sound board wasnt all that attentive. Food wasnt great but the food and drink prices were reasonable.18% surcharge, no tipping required. Why isnt the surcharge considered a tip? Maybe because it goes to the venue and not the server? 2 item minimum for shows, order both items at the same time, you are not likely to see the server again before they bring the bill at the end of the show. An enjoyable inexpensive evening out, I will go back.
Awesome show. Would definitely go back.
The show was great food was good wish the space bigger because it can get packed
Had a great night. The only thing I didnt like and didnt know before going there is they will seat strangers at your table to fill the spots. Prices do seem high for the quantity of food they give.
Packed in like sardines and the waiter lied about the tipping policy, I will never attend another show here again you dont need to tip the waiters because it is added on the bill at an 18% gratuity be warned there is no room to move during a popular performance.
I went to see Randy Feltface at Helium Comedy Club in Buffalo NY. The show was great. The staff was helpful. My only issue was that the tables and chairs were a bit crowded.
Organized club, great server, drinks were good, comedy was great, no chaos between shows, mens bathroom urinals were out of order so we waited in line like chicks, plenty of street parking which looked free and $5 parking in a big lot right across the street. The club was really well decorated and the lighting and stage were perfect, the sound was perfect. Highly recommend. Buffalo represents!
The atmosphere is amazing. I have been to so many shows here and I go alone and still feel right at home. No Complaints from me.
One of the best times to be had in the 716 it’s worth going just for the pulled pork sliders so food gets an A+ the service is always great they know how to take care of you! The club is a vibe on it’s own but they pull really funny comedians and showcase some amazing local talent, long review short go to the website and get your tickets you can thank me later!!!!
Not a bad seat in the house. Always order 2 drinks as can take a bit to come back
After receiving 4 free tickets I was looking forward to a night out with another couple for dinner, drinks and entertainment. To bad our free tickets came with extra costs we werent expecting and a very minimal menu which they didnt update on their website. The menu was extremely limited and our dinner bill alone for 2 people was $105. Thats with just ordering chicken fingers (12.99) pretzel sticks (9.99) 3 sliders (18.00) 2 beers (12) and 2 wines ($20) so you think $73 before tax and then tip. So any normal person would lay done around $92 for overpriced appetizers and service...oh did you read the small print..they tack on 18% administration fee to every bill after the total...(even on NYS tax they double tax you!!!)So stroll into show with discuss over being overcharged..we just order a round of drinks for 4 people, should be $32...nope another tack on fee came to $42.Obviously we didnt tip this time because we already caught on to their scam.Dont waste your money or time with a place that feels they can overcharge you without properly expressing dont tip.Ill never go there again.Best of luck and I hope this review helped
Very good service and good environment to go have a laughing fun.Food is alright when drinking.
Needs several improvements:1. The fees are annoying, frustrating, and make you feel like you’re being tricked. Charge more if you think you need to, and don’t ask for tips.2. Food options are weak. Provide less choices and higher quality food. I don’t want standard bar food from 2005.3. Check-in process is stuck in the past. Should just be a QR code on your phone that gets scanned.
The food and performers were great! However, I wish the paying of the bills was more modernized. Ive paid about $50 a ticket to see this comedian. I dont want to have a conversation with a waiter about my check total and how Id like to pay while theyre in the middle of their set. Ive been to a lot of other clubs who take a card at the beginning and just drop off card at the end. Something more similar to that would be greatly appreciated.
Helium has the best atmosphere and wonderful staff. We typically come and sit at the bar before shows and then attend events- staff everywhere are always kind and service is quick. The acts Ive seen have all been absolutely hilarious and Id recommend this venue to anyone. If only it was bigger! 😅
Its a nice environment, but just too many rules. Service takes way too long. Last time we had to wait until show was over and all tables by our server were cashed out before we could even cash out.
Very dissatisfied. I went to this comedy club on Saturday. It was my 40th birthday. I had 10 guest. We were one of the first guest to arrive, at 6:15. We told check in how many of us were together. We all ordered food, drinks and paid to get into the club (spent over $1000) It was clearly my 40th birthday party. I was wearing a crown full of gems and had glowing lights around my neck. You couldn’t miss it. They sat us in front of the d.j. booth. Then told us we needed to be quiet. They had security come over to tell us to be quiet. I ended up walking out before the show was over and it was my birthday. I/we will always remember this and not for the best. Your company shouldn’t place a party of 10, in front of a microphone and told not to make noise. I have never had to be “talked to” or in trouble my entire life. Absolutely horrible experience.
The servers came to our table, 40 mins after we arrived. The main act was already on stage performing. They were extremely rude. Got our order wrong and still overcharged us (they refunded the difference). They charged 18% gratuity for 2 people; waiter said it was for the NYS minimum wage. Snatched the clipboard out of my hand when she got no extra tip and walked away angry. The parking was horrible and they charged $25 for parking. The comic spoke about his new wife half of the time instead of telling jokes. Wasnt worth the hassle and expense to go there so wont do that again. Love going to comedy clubs all around the country and this was by far the worst experience at a comedy club Ive had. Buffalo is just starting to take off, things like this will have people staying home instead.
Wonderful atmosphere , excellent service . I love each and every time I go there . Cant wait to do it again
Great experience. Staff is fast and friendly. Perfect for a date night.
Ive never been to a comedy club that wasnt bare bones in every way. Helium in Buffalo is no exception. Its a fine place to see a show. And they bring in a lot of good talent. The food is average. The cocktails are very tasty. I paid the extra to get reserved tickets which got us a table right up against the stage. It was probably the most crowded section in the room so I dont think Id do that again. Two item minimum is standard. All in all I would go back for the right show.
It was way more disorganized than our last few visits here. We arrived early, and we waited outside forever to get our tickets, as the ticket window was ridiculously slow. Once we hit the window, it was over 5 minutes to get our will call tickets. Once we got them, as we had reserved seats, we skated the line and we were seated. It took about 20 minutes for a server to show up at our table. Once she did, however, Melody was wonderful. The acts were good, the food was good. When the check arrived, there was an 18% administrative fee added. One would presume that fee is the tip. Yeah, it’s not. If you do not tip your server, they don’t get dime one of that fee. Melody was wonderful, and we tipped her well, but I guarantee that the administrative fee is costing them tips. Stop with the fees. Raise your prices. Don’t take your greed out on your servers.
Nice place. They host some good comedians. However paid extra for reserved seating and feel we were sat pretty far back for what we paid for. The booths they have could have bigger seat cushions as they were a little uncomfortable. Other than that like I said good place will definitely be back.
Dont bother coming early for better seating - that only guarantees you get the worst seats in the house, since they just do it in order starting from the back.Theyll also say theres a minimum of 2 food/drink item per person... But turns out its not enforced at all.
Nice place, clean, good selection of drinks and food. Good staff.
Great spot to catch a good comedy act. Great service, friendly staff.
Mike Birbiglia was awesome. This is a nice intimate venue for a comedy show. Drinks are pricey and food was average. Service was decent. Add on 18 percent is unnecessary.
Its the only place around that gets bigger names. They cram you in like cattle at small tables that you are forced to share with people who are not in your party. You are required to purchase 2 beverage or food items, which would be fine if you had the table room. The wait staff is lacking and overwhelmed at all times and its hard to order when you would like. If there was another comedy club around, I would never return.
Amazing Club, funny comedians, wonderful staff (Shout out to Belle!!) 🫶🏼A must visit place when you come to Buffalo!!
This place is great! The lineup usually has something for everyone on a month to month basis. The food is solid and so are the drinks. Book a show with your fav comedian and enjoy the laughs, pretty simple! I’ve seen 4 stand up comics here and Nimesh Patel really stood out so far, highly recommend him!
Same as I remember... I had a great time!! Servers were very courteous 💯
Had a great time!!! Great drinks and atmosphere!
Awesome time ! Thanks Helium ! My new favourite hang out spot !
Ordered chicken sliders, boneless wings, and chicken strips. The chicken and buns were cold, tasteless, greasy. They just heat up frozen food. Fries were good. They charge an automatic 18% admin fee (on top of the tax so it’s actually closer to 21%) but our server made us feel guilty and gave rude gestures since we didn’t tip more.
Always a tight experience!!. 4 ppl @ table ordering the required minimum, requires a juggling degree!!! The main comedian DJ Young fly, should have been up longer.
This was only my second time coming to the Helium, and my first time in about 5 years. Jess Hilarious and Desi were so funny! I purchased tickets online and I always find it ideal as opposed to waiting in line at the box office. We gave our names and walked right in to our assigned seats. The food was decent and my drink was strong 😫 but most people would love that! Noteworthy; there is a two item minimum in the showroom, and drinks/food purchased at the bar or in Elements Restaurant are not included in that minimum.
The show was great, not a bad seat in the house. Staff was miserable and the food was horrible. But then again thats not what theyre advertising.
I have a deep appreciation for venues that were able to maintain a presence during and after the height of the pandemic. With that being said, it has to be a mutual give and take for the business and patrons.Tickets to shows are purchased online. There is a surcharge to do so and youll find like so many others, there is a two item minimum for each guest. No biggie right? Well, theres also an 18% administrative charge. No where on their site do they explain what this covers. If its for the host and hostesses, then say that but otherwise you should be prepared to tip in addition to the aforementioned.Seating inside is extremely close. We were seated at a small bistro like table that was small for two adults, so imagine if you have two other adults assigned to your table. Reserved seating is an up-charge and in my opinion, not worth it. Youre seated in no kind of rhyme or reason and they immediately start asking if youre ready to order.Upon ordering, the food and drinks come out rather quickly. Be aware that if you dine at Elements, the restaurant on their premises, it is separate from your requirement to purchase two items. There are a lot of rules they harp on and it detracts from the experience. The drink I had was decent but nothing that made me say wow, Id like another. The chicken tenders and fries I had were probably some of the most expensive to date. The comedian of the evening was Michael Colyar. We dined at the same restaurant the day prior and he invited us to attend the show. He put on a good show and I had a good time but the size of the venue and the burden of rules to abide by were a bit much. When I went to will call for my tickets, no ID was requested and there is minimal room to wait prior to entering the space where the comedians perform. Youre essentially lining up, blocking the door and standing behind patrons at the bar and those dining.Definitely some room for improvement but its one of those local hometown places that could be a launch pad for the next funny man or woman. I hope management takes heed of the reviews and concerns that patrons have to apply some improvements. Not a bad concept, but laborious for what you get. Undecided if Id frequent this establishment again. Itd have to be a comedian that I really wanted to see to endure it again. 3.5 stars overall.
Very polite and attentive staff. Great venue, not a bad seat in the place. The seating is tight and you will be next to strangers, but I understand a business needs to optimize their space. Decent food
My sides have yet to recover, please be careful if you have weak abdominal muscles attending shows here, they have no warnings posted about this
My wife and I had purchased a VIP package for a show. We decided to have dinner at the restaurant before the show. Upon arrival we were sat and had a great experience with staff and food was excellent.Unfortunately, when the box office opend for will call tickets, the restaurant became a nightmare to navigate. Super crowded and no direction from event staff. We missed our seating call, just too unorganized. When we finally made our way into the show, the attendant did not seat us in our reserved seats.Ended up sitting on the curved bench where wait staff was moving through the entire show. Very disturbing. Wait staff was disruptive during the show, which interrupted the flow of the comedian and made it difficult to follow the show.Would return.....but much wiser.
This spot is fine, they just cram people in and its not comfortable
Went here for my birthday and regret it. This place doesn’t deserve one star. Ordered food, drinks, shots. Watched other tables get rounds of drinks. Asked multiple servers for our drinks that we ordered to go with our SPICY pickles that also took a long time to come out. We were told they’d check and never followed up. We were also told they were on the way a few times. Watched them continue to walk by and give other tables their rounds. We would’ve been happy with water at this point! Finally asked to speak to a manager AN HOUR LATER after STILL NO DRINKS. Was told he couldn’t come to the table. Walked out and he was laughing with multiple servers standing around, then laughed in my face, not even a sorry. We were told they were busy. I asked what is going to be done, instead of making the drinks or offering a simple apology or resolution he wanted to argue and stated he didn’t like the way I spoke to him. Simply explained that I asked multiple servers for the past hour for our order. I even went to the bar when I walked in to order and was told they will come to the table. Horrible customer service. Unacceptable. Drinks come before food or with food by the way. Not sure what’s so hard about getting a drink order out in an HOUR. I am flabbergasted. I would NEVER.
Great place for comedy. The seating is kinda a nightmare. We had 4 people, and wanted to eat dinner. The table we were seated at was far too small.
Had a blast Dan CummingsWas a good act.Over crowding is a slight problem.2 drunk minimum no big dealBut once you had your 2limit service disappears.
I went and seen Ali Siddiq. The vibes were exceptional. The drinks were perfect 🥰 we had to share table with a other company but I didnt mind because they were fun. I love coming here.
Went to the Best of Buffalo show. Had great seats. Place was nice. Ice cream was good. Chatted with the talent after the show. Venue was clean. Staff were friendly. If youre driving, beware of the cobblestone streets in front, and frequent sports games. Downtown was a mess but we found free parking just past the casino.
A little cramped while youre waiting to be seated but good food and drinks with great entertainment!
Had VIP tix for Danny LoPriore, awesome show! the front area where you pick up tickets/wait to get in is a little small so it can get cramped/disorganized, especially if it was a bigger show. once they open the doors, staff will show you to your seats, and then an attendant will come around taking orders. Prices for food & drinks are pretty average, about $10-12 for most items, there is a 2 item per person minimum for shows, and an 18% service charge added to each check (however the menu states tips are not expected on top of this). Attendants did a good job of making rounds throughout the show without being intrusive or distracting. Overall great night out!
Pretty nice place you have here buffalo. The audio quality by the wall is not great, kind of a lot of reverb. The road leading up to the building is old fashion cobble stone, nothing could have prepared me for how bumpy it would be!!! My poor old car 😭 do not drive here if you have a beater 😭
The show called for us to be there at 9:30 for doors open. We stood outside for 45 minutes while a woman kept screeching at us to stand single file and wait our turn since we didnt have printed tickets. Something so lovely in 35° weather. The seating was disorganized and we were packed like sardines. A demand to order two items per piece was set yet we saw our server only once. So worth the 18% gratuity they enforce. 🙄 Im now sitting here a week later, with the flu, from being packed next to strangers. Loved the comedy but not worth the venue and expense.
I love coming here. Every time is a new experience. Ive been about 10x in 6 years. Food and drinks are always good. Every seat Ive ever gotten feels like a great 1, I dont know how, it might just be me. Theyve been consistent with service and professionalism. I see myself visiting many times in the future, highly recommended. (PERFECT date night)
Had a great time. Food and drinks are reasonably priced. 2 item per person is easy to manage as you are there for at least 2 drinks or drink and appetizer.
Nice atmosphere, Good drinks and nice service.
The comedian was,not bad but thats subject to taste BUT the staff and the service were great I didnt think Id want food but after first drink I changed my mind fast good and separate parking lot cost 25 to park but next time ill just Uber, if your a comedy lover remember these are not the top comedians but its a fun night out.
Long initial waits and a tiny cramped dining area with little to no separation from the box office and bar. But once you get into the venue proper it is great! Good sounds, an intimate experience with the comedian and good food and drinks, if not a bit lengthy on the wait time to get it. Serving staff is friendly and come for orders regularly when you are seated. The earlier you get seated the better, but still a great time! 9/10, would go again!
Good cozy place.Great seating for event.
Communication is impossible with this establishment. If sitting VIP, you cannot chose your own seat. people who show up after you may receive better seating. very frustrating.General admission is super close to VIP seating, anyway, and for half the price. The comedian was great, but the show was scheduled to begin at 9:30, did not begin until 10, with 2 openers, and the main act was no more than a half hour. Two item minimum is more than fine, but after fees and $5 for a soda literally overflowing with ice, this place quickly becomes a money grab.Definitely not worth returning.
Went to see DC Curry the other night, and it wS my first time going to the comedy club. DC was hilarious and very relatable, and his show opener Tim (forgot his last name) was also funny. Helium comedy club was clean and the staff were all friendly and helpful. There was a $6.25 processing fee when you buy your tickets ahead of time, plus you needed to order at least 2 items during the show, and items purchased in the restaurant connected to the club did not go towards your two minimum items. After you ordered they added on an additional administrative fee. It ended up being a little extra expensive. The mixed drinks were wonderful and huge, not watered down, beers were 16 oz. Fun show though.
Absolutely amazing place ! Had an absolute blast celebrating my husbands 35th birthday by seeing Scott siess show the other night already got tickets again to go back to see Tammy on Oct 13th 😁
Bruce Bruce was amazing and I always love the food and energy at the Helium.
Was it a nice experience overall, just very crowded and pricy
Amazing venue, and an even better staff. Melanie was so helpful with any question I had and didnt seem annoyed by me disrupting her working at all. Which, I can be kinda annoying so thats a plus for her! Thanks so much Melanie!
The comedian (Chris Porter) was awesome! The ticket booth was very helpful (I had to arrive within a few minutes of the show starting). The reason for docking 2 stars...1. The food was brought in takeout containers - chips were mostly broken and the sliders were drenched in sauce.2. There is an 18% administrative fee - which normally means it replaces the tip. When the bill came, I asked the server are you charging me 18% and do you get a portion of that? She said no... she does not, it goes to the restaurant. I asked at the booth on the way-out and I was told it goes to the servers.Someone is lying... Please be clear on your policies and where the money is going. Gouging your customers or hiring servers that lie to your customers is not going make for a happy experience.I would have gotten over the food, but your organization took a fun night and ended it very poorly. Just be honest with people. What is your the administrative fee for? Does it replace tipping?
Always have a great time good drinks good food good laugh
This comedy club hosts a Variety of local and smaller name national talent. Tickets for shows are a decent price. Most (or all) shows have a 2 item purchase minimum once you are seated in the show area but the prices for food and drink are decent. Have been many times and will continue to return.
This was a first time visit for me and it met my expectations! I went and saw Kristina Kuzmic and she was awesome. Kristina had me laughing or crying happy tears the entire time - the show was about 1 hr 30 min long which was perfect. Isabel was my waitress and she was great - very friendly, gave suggestions, and was attentive. There is two parking lots on either side of the facility. The food tasted great. Negative - customers were seated very close to one another and the 18% fee is confusing in comparison to not knowing if an additional tip was needed.
Horrible experience! You guys want people to show up 45 minutes early, and even say we could lose our tickets if not there 30 minutes before showtime. So we got there 45 minutes early just to stand in line outside in the freezing cold for over an hour! The show was supposed to start at 9:30pm and we got there at 8:45. We finally ended up leaving a little after 10:00 because I couldnt take the cold anymore ( as did several other people ). Im out $70! It was very unorganized and ridiculous
This is a great place. You are no further than 40 feet from the comics. They have all types of famous people come through there and the prices are decent price usually from 25to 60$ depending on meet and greet . They have a two drink minimum. Our drinks came out fairly quick and they refiled them quick. The food was out in like 5 minutes. One of my new favorite place.
I went to a show a couple weeks ago. The comedian was funny but club is clearly poorly managed. The lobby area was a mess and way too crowded, people were shoving their way into the venue for the next show while people from the first show were still trying to get out. There was an 18% “service fee” added to our bill inexplicably with no forewarning. It stated on the receipt that this was not a tip but was unclear what it was for.During the show people in the crowd started yelling at the comedian and at one point literally started a Bills chant. The comedian had to completely stop his set and wait for people to quiet down. Club staff did nothing. It was truly embarrassing to be a part of. I would not recommend.
I was a lucky winner of my tickets. It was my husband n I first time to the club. There was a nice welcoming atmosphere to the club. Waitresses were amazing and were quick on clearing the tables n refilling drinks. Comics were very good. Only problem we had were the seats. We were seated to far left of the stage, which made it difficult to hear a couple of the comics. Other than that it was an amazing date nite for my husband n I
Great show, comfortable seating, food was unexpectedly good! I would suggest ordering the fried pickles, different than anywhere else and you get a real lot for the price! Our server, Melanie, was right on top of things the whole time too!
The show we saw last night was fantastic. The show itself gets five stars. However, the table service was terrible. A crowded room with only a handful of servers. It took 45 minutes to get our drink order taken and even then we had to desperately flag a server down. Instead of taking our order, he said hed look into it. Our order was taken a few minutes later. Then we were kinda guilt-tripped about not abiding by the two drink minimum but by time we ordered and finished our first drink (after an hour of sitting there while the show went on), there wasnt time for a second drink. Problem seems ongoing with Helium and would be solved simply with more servers. We watched as people around us ordered round two of drinks and got their food. Need a better selection of beer too. Please do better with the table service. Again, the show itself was great.
My review would have been 5 stars if it wasn’t for the ridiculously high fees on everything you’re required to order in the showroom. Prices are already high enough but then to add on a fee on top of the high price is what will keep me from ever attending another show at Helium. Josh Blue was awesome! Clayton Williams was Awesome!!
The food was very good and The show we went to see was hilarious 😂
The show was amazing! Aries Spears was hilarious. Over priced drinks although the purple people eater was really good. The spinach dip sucked! My friends chicken fingers and French fries were good. The bartender wasnt too bright and neither was our waitress. My other friend never even got what she ordered. I would go back there for a show but never will we order anything
We came as VIP with a group of 4. We were told it was a 2 drink minimum. We each got 1 drink at 6:45 show started at 7. Our server Sam M did NOT return at all until 7:44 to give us our check? The show ended at 8:30… we were there for almost 2 hours and only served 1 drink? We were prepared to have drank and spend alot of money and we didn’t even get a second round!! I couldn’t focus on the show because we were trying to get her attention without distrusting the show. I was very disappointed as our guests with us from out of town and ourselves didn’t receive the experience we were expecting.
Came to Buffalo from San Jose CA to check out Tony Hinchcliffe and was not disappointed in the least. Great lineup and Tony was 11/10. The person who helped our table was Belle and she was very attentive and helpful with our orders/making sure we were taken care of! Thanks for the great experience!
Attended a show on last night. The host comedian and the headliner Shuler King were exceptionally funny! But, I must say - the drinks that were served to our party were watered down ... and the chicken FINGERS and fries tasted awful! ... They were actually chicken NUGGETS and fries - and both were dry and crunchy.
A great intimate venue to enjoy an inexpensive night of entertainment. Not a bad seat in the house. The server, Sam was friendly, quick and very efficient. Joe Machi was the headliner and he was amazing. I have seen him often on TV and YouTube but it does not compare to how funny he is in person. Cant wait until he comes back.
I wouldn’t recommend purchasing tickets at this comedy club because in the event they sell out a show, this particular comedy club will STILL continue to sell their tickets and they will place random couples of two in tabling with other random couples. Now while I am a very social person this policy can make it challenging when seating with other couples trying to respect other people‘s personal space while ordering drinks / food at the same time. Please note this comedy club like others require guests to purchase at least two items, so imagine four strangers sitting together at a small table ordering drinks and food how frustrating that can be… I brought this up with management at helium comedy club stated there is no refunds whatsoever they were not able to accommodate at all. Please think twice about purchasing tickets at this comedy club save your money and visit she’s performing arts instead.
Josh Blue was the main act. They put on a great show. The staff works very hard to get everyone taken care of. The only downside is it gets really stuffy in there if they would keep the AC on or had better air flow it would make for a more comfortable experience.
An excellent venue for the appreciation of comedic entertainment.
Visited here for the first time to see Steve-O live and really enjoyed ourselves. Not sure if its always so busy, but they handled the crowd well. We were well-informed ahead of time when purchasing tickets online about the 2-item minimum order, so that wasnt a problem for us. The mozzarella sticks were honestly not as bad a deal as I suspected. The seating was comfortable and everyone, even in the back, was closer than I would have expected to the performer. Parking right across the way and we paid $10 but well worth it. If the occasion arises, well be back someday!
What a beautiful comedy club!!!!! I saw Jared Freid there last night and he was SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO funny. I was crying I was laughing so hard. So so good!!!!! $5 parking in the big lot across the street, the servers and staff were lovely and friendly. I only gave four stars because the woman with the tattoos at the box office was very rude and miserable. As the first person you meet when you enter, this was disappointing. She was angry and mad. But the venue is lovely!
Great show and extremely affordable. Less than $15 for both me and my fiances tickets together! It was difficult to get served at first bc we came right at the time the show was supposed to start. But once I got a server, it was fine. I ordered the greek salad and it was huge! But very delicious. We had our waters refilled a couple times, which also was nice. The performers were great. I definitely plan on coming back!
Show was great, but i can see why they force you to buy the food. It is terrible, slider sandwiches for $6! Fried pickles that were french fried. Ardichoke dip that was made with creme of mushroom soup! It takes waitstaff a half an hour to get you a drink! They have to step it up over there bigtime!
Great place. Good drinks
Every seat is a good seat, and the wait staff was attentive while also mindful about not interrupting the show at the peak of a joke. I only wish the featured cocktails had a wider variety - they all looked very sugary, and the one I chose tasted like bubblegum. But overall a great experience and cant wait to go back!
Master lingding says: master lingding wants to come and tell stories of my many adventures
One of my favorite places to go out to
Went to the 730 show to see Brian Posehn. Very disappointed from the start. We had 7 tickets and they would not seat us until all 7 people arrived. We wanted to sit and order drinks and food before the show started. We had 1 person running late and therefore we were unable to sit until they arrived. We had a few minutes before the show to place our order. The waitress finally brought our food after the first comedian was finished. The waitress dropped off our food and drinks and never saw her again until she handed us our check half way through the headliners act. We were planning on ordering another drink. The 18% gratuity was added to our bill. I would not have given her more than 10%. A tip is based on good service and we did not receive good service. Brian Posehn did not seem up to par the first two comedians were much funnier. We felt very let down by Brians performance.
The location is great, right in the heart of downtown and I enjoyed the comedians that were there. As far as the food and drinks are concerned theres a 2 item minimum that each person has to order while in the club which is normal. Ive been to other comedy clubs that require the same thing. The drinks were Id say a little on the high side but nothing crazy , I guess normal for that area now. And the food was good but man the portions were small. I guess thats my only complaint. I ordered boneless wings and these steak and cheese egg rolls each about $11 each and I received 3 pizza log sized egg rolls which I thought was a little cheap but still they were good .. all in all its fun I will go back
Good atmosphere. Top rated comics and an attentive staff.
My husband and I went here for our anniversary and had a blast. We were fortunate enough to go on a night they had a highly rated comedian as the main act (as per google and a another site my husband used). The opening act was also very funny in my opinion. We did not realize there was a two purchase minimum per person in the comedy room. We had dinner just before the show at the restaurant inside the comedy club. Had we known, we would have waited and ordered in the comedy room instead, so we didn’t have to purchase more, when we were already full and had reached our alcohol limit for driving home. So either they need to make you aware before, when you make your reservations or give you credit if you eat at the restaurant ( it’s the same servers anyway). But all in all it was a great anniversary! We had a blast there and I would definitely do it again!
Terrible experience and I will never be coming back here again. The crowd was atrocious, constantly interrupting the acts, yelling out rude and obnoxious comments to the point where Drew Lynch literally stopped half way through his bit to say “this is the absolute worst” and the staff did nothing. The food was mediocre at best, drinks were over-priced and crowd control was a joke. Just getting into the show an hour early was a super spreader event with over 50 people jammed in shoulder to shoulder picking up tickets, at the bar and waiting to enter the showroom. To the people that attended last night - thank you for ruining this experience and further proving why Buffalo is literally the worst.
Always a good time at a very reasonable cost. Some up and coming comedians as well as some long time, established, house hold names. We ALWAYS have dinner before the show. The food choices are really great and the food is always tasty and well prepared.Try it ...you’ll like it.Then, try it again. You’ll love it.We certainly do!
Went to see Adam Conover for my first time at Helium and had a great time! Definitely worth it to get reserved tickets if you can!
Excellent show. Excellent room. I can appreciate you want to turn tables between shows, but dont interrupt a guests enjoyment of the show to collect a tab. WAIT!Answering the reply...thanks for getting back to me. I didnt mind the check drop, it was the continued attempts to collect. Working in a club for 5 years, I understand what could happen, but we werent going anywhere. And we will be back.
Great venue for stand up comedy and the food was great!!
Nice place the food was good
The bar tenders were excellent, the place was clean, and the comedians were great. Overall was not a very welcoming environment, I’ve been here a couple times before and already had an issue with the fact that they want you to come, before the show to pick up your tickets that you have already purchased online. That kind of defeats the purpose of an online purchase. Then I watched how they had very little to no patience with new customers!!! Then several people had problems with there orders or was charged for something they did not order. Also this is a social event and I understand that there is no heckling or loud talking to not disturb the performance, but there is a difference between talking and distracting the performance. “They seem to want you to be silent “ i don’t like when someone is as loud or louder than the performers this was not the case but I watched as they moved people because they were talking.. I guess making decisions on what to eat or drink!! Or verbalizing what the comic just said is out of the question. We are not at the movies!! If you are serving liquor it is kind of hand in hand that people get louder. But, maybe if people were not sitting on top of each other it would be less of a problem. I am guessing that trying to keep down overhead is the rationale to not having the box office open after 20 minutes of the start of the show. So don’t be late or your going to have a super problem. There is a difference between being organized and being difficult. There is a lot of ways that this could all be remedied but any ways. Let’s not forget the automatic 18% gratuity that is put on your bill!!! Not that I have a problem giving a good waiter/waitress 18%, but that should be a choice if I have bad service you should get a bad tip.. And when I saw that one manager was super multitasking trying to co-ordinate everything. I attempted to say ‘thank you’ and show a little empathy for the situation, when I came towards her to say something she backed up like I was the covid keeper himself and automatically pointed to the exit door as to say I was going the wrong way, when I then said I just wanted to say thank you for attempting to be patient, there was little to no acknowledgement, It seems they are accustomed to have the usuals and not ready for a full and or new crowd. ‘Disappointed’ I am guessing with this being one of the only exclusive comedy clubs in Buffalo they can do what they want. The 3 stars are for cleanliness, price, comedians and location..#disappointed
Great spot; always a fun night out. I will say that the food is just okay. Last time I was disappointed with the sampler platter that we ordered; it tasted a little funky. I think the grease in the fryer needed to be swapped out. I will probably be back; will eat before next time!
Great place for a comedy show they have some great acts and very accommodating
I really like it here. The reason Im giving it four stars is because the have this two drink minimum for the room. Last time I was there I spent over $100 on the tickets and eating at the restaurant. I really thought it was unnecessary to make me pay more. I do understand that the servers need to make tips, but every other time Ive gone Ive bought at least drinks and food in the room. Overall, great place.
Have been here on several occasions. Always enjoy the show. Saw Ms Pat this time, did not care for her style. Will certainly be going in the future though!
Another great night of comedy was had by all in our group. I was impressed by the room between tables allowing easy maneuvering throughout. I only hope that the entertainment stays top notch. I will definitely be back . Theres not a bad seat in the house and service was excelent.
Love seeing shows here, more intimate than a huge space. Food and drink prices are outrageous. 18% administrative fee plus you have to buy 2 items per person...ridiculous, its the downfall of this place. Your affordable night out just turned into an $80-100 night.
I have been to helium comedy club 5 times within the past two months! I love this place. They always have good talent on their stage. The staff is fantastic! Ive been coming here for years! Definitely a great night out that I would recommend to anyone!
The worst! $20.00 to park. We had a party of 9. They gave us 2 tiny cocktail tables and were told not to push them together. The event was no where close to being sold out we were crammed together like sardines all on the lower level. I did ask if we could move up top so we could be spaced out and socially distanced. I was told no. Totally in need of a management overhaul. Terrible service because they didn’t know what they were doing. And the overpriced grub was brought out in take out containers. The comics were not funny at all!!! Never ever are 9-11 or handicapped people jokes ever funny. It was awful! I will never be back.
Small venue but great place.
I have been to Helium a couple of times now. The first experience wasnt bad, but also was not on a busy night. I was excited to see one of my favorite comedians last night and knew it would be busier than the show I had previously been to, but I did not expect this much of a difference. I am never one to complain or write bad reviews, especially without speaking to the business first, but this was the worst experience Ive had at a comedy club. They jam packed way too many people into the venue to the point that my date and I were sharing a table with 4 other people that were previously sitting there. We were crammed in in front of them to the point that we were all annoyed that they couldnt see, when there was clearly a table right next to us that we could have sat at and remained empty all night. We were also against the east wall and honestly could not hear or understand more than half of the show because of the awful acoustics. I heard the people behind us say the same thing. We tried to tell the waiter that we could not hear nor had a table to put our TWO ITEM MINIMUM on and he just said Sorry, no one has complained before. I understand he was busy but there was an empty table next to us, and it was obvious that 6 people to a tiny table was ridiculous. Needless to say, we left extremely disappointed and sadly wont be returning to this Venue for a show.
A pretty good comedy club. Average sized room and a small stage. Drinks & food were typical of a club; small portions and over-priced, but thats expected at a club just trying to make some money. Would recommend.
My husband and I saw Preacher Lawson! The show and once you got into the comedy club area was great. The show was awesome, the wait staff was nice , drinks were good! It was before the show that was an awful experience. There was so many people that noone could move, we were getting screamed at to move back but obviously there was no room to move back. We were packed like that for at least an hour if not more. If there was a fire or had to evacuate we would have been screwed. There has got to be a better set up or a better way. For that reason I probably will not go back.
It was wonderful to be out among happy people again. Although we purchased more costly tix for better seats, we were seated all the way to the side of the stage. Acoustics were terrible and we couldnt hear the comedian much of the time. Our draft beer was served warm but the server obliged us with a cup of ice to remedy that problem. Maybe, things will get better as covid-19 recedes in memory but I wont return for awhile.
I was at the Helium Comedy Club on May 28, 2021 for my 58th Birthday. Tony Rock set off the stage on fire with roasting me first. I enjoyed the whole time I was there. My youngest son Shawn and I went back the next day to see Tony Rock again so we could get an autograph and picture with him. Overall everything was great even the food that day. Tony Rock thank you for a great 2 nights to celebrate my birthday 🎂🎉.
I love going but the seating is to close together
