Rating: ★★★★☆ (4/5)I recently visited Overstory Rooftop in Duluth, and overall, I had a fantastic experience. The venue offers a stunning rooftop setting that really makes you feel like youre at a luxurious resort. The ambiance alone is worth the visit, especially if youre looking for a place to relax and enjoy great views.Food: ★★★☆☆ (3/5)The food was good, though not exceptional. The menu is somewhat limited, but what they do offer is well-prepared and satisfying. I particularly enjoyed the empanadas, and the Wag Burger was decent, though I feel there could be more variety and creativity in the menu options.Service: ★★★★★ (5/5)The service here was outstanding. The staff was attentive, friendly, and made sure our experience was top-notch. From the moment we arrived until we left, we felt well taken care of. This level of service really elevated our overall experience.Atmosphere: ★★★★★ (5/5)The atmosphere is what sets Overstory Rooftop apart. The rooftop view is gorgeous, especially at sunset. The layout is spacious, with plenty of seating, and the overall vibe is both relaxing and upscale. Its the perfect spot for a night out or a special occasion.Overall:Overstory Rooftop is a great spot in Duluth if youre looking for a place with excellent service and a beautiful atmosphere. While the food could use a bit more variety, the overall experience is definitely worth four stars. Ill be returning for sure!
I was pleasantly surprised!!! A couple of friends and I visited Overstory and we thoroughly enjoyed the atmosphere. We were celebrating a birthday 🎉 Our waitress, Alicia was so professional and attentive. There was a saxophone player, Chris King, who made our dining experience enjoyable!!! The brunch food was good, drink was delicious and the ambience was amazing. The space is huge. A lot of outdoor and indoor space. I plan to make this a frequent place I pop into.
Great place! They need to work on the service & how open table can better take reservations. We needed to add a person to our reservation on a Sunday & couldn’t. Place was not busy at all & our guest could’ve totally come. They missed out making more $$$. Our server was very nice though and we will totally go back again. Counting on service being better! Great vibes!
I have mixed feelings about this place. the atmosphere was beautiful.. but the food isn’t great. the empanadas were dry and the steak was a 4/10. the service here sucked. took a long time to receive our drinks, and took over a hour and half to even place our order for the food. the server was a sweetheart but she would disappear for a while.
Let me say this: VIEWS ARE EVERYTHING!!My girls and I went to brunch here. There is a two hour parking for free in the parking garage across the hotel. You have to take the elevator up to the 9th floor. The lobby / entrance of the hotel is so beautiful. The design feels like I was not in Georgia and more in Asia. I wish more places were open to designs like this in the metro Atlanta areas! The food wasn’t amazing but the presentation was great. The seating for three people was nice. We sat in the booth seats. There was live music playing and I really enjoyed watching them play. Our server was super sweet and got us new napkins or silverware because they weren’t as clean as we expected! I give this place a four stars overall because I wish the food did taste better compared to the interior and the views. I highly recommend the outside area. It’s a very pretty place to take pictures. Came for the ambiance and it did not fail. My girls really enjoyed it as well. I see that they don’t do brunch everyday so I recommend Sunday brunch here. There weren’t as many people that I thought there would be. We didn’t have to wait so that was nice too!!
Went here for brunch today. Horrible and slow service. Waited about 20 minutes to be acknowledged and just get water. They only had decaf coffee for brunch, not regular. I got their $16 mediocre cold brew, which didn’t come with the spiced cream on top as listed on the menu. The food was below average, 2/10. Three of us got the short rib hash and it was drenched in salt. There was also a piece of red hair in our sweet corn fritter. The ambiance is nice & they had live jazz music, but the poor service and food is not worth the $20-$60/pp price, so I will not be returning. There service charge is 22%.
I recently dined at the Westin Overstory and had an outstanding experience, thanks in large part to our server, Christina. Her professionalism and friendly demeanor set the tone for a wonderful evening. We started our meal with a Wagu burger, which was absolutely delicious. To accompany it, we enjoyed a glass of Riesling and Pinot Grigio, both perfectly paired with our dishes. The ceviche was rich and savory, adding a delightful freshness to our meal.Despite not having a reservation, we were quickly seated, and the good vibes and friendly staff made us feel welcome right away. At one point, a piece of glassware was accidentally dropped, but the situation was handled efficiently and without any disruption to our dining experience. For dessert, we indulged in churros with Guava Jalapeño, dark chocolate, and caramel. It was an amazing combination that left us thoroughly impressed.Overall, our meal at the Westin Overstory was exceptional. Christina’s excellent service and the quality of the food made it a memorable dining experience. We look forward to returning!
Had a great Juneteenth celebration with the ladies at Overstory Rooftop at the Westin Hotel in Duluth. The menu was limited, but the portions for the “light bites” were generous. The food was flavorful and served at the appropriate temperature. Denny made me a very nice cocktail with the house lavender that was refreshing. There are plenty of seating options indoors and out. Parking is located directly across from the entrance to the Westin (no validation)- first two hours are free and it’s $5 for 2-12 hours. Great location for socializing, special occasions, and fabulous photo opportunities!
Our visit got off to a rocky start but was quickly remedied by the manger Tyler. They are strict about outdoor seating and reservations, there was some confusion amongst staff about where we could, should, would sit.Honorable mention for Preastly who tried to get us seated and checked on us throughout the night to ensure we were good after the mix up - even though they weren’t our server. Very sweet!I was impressed by the food a solid 4/5. The price for the portion was reasonable and everything was well seasoned. The drinks were pretty - most leaned toward the fruity side but the bartender didn’t skimp on the alcohol. The ambience is amazing and makes the Overstory worth a visit even if it’s just for a cute pic on the rooftop.Make a reservation well in advance.
Wonderful evening spent with colleagues at Overstory Rooftop bar. Drink selections were excellent, and I was pleasantly surprised by the bartenders ability to craft many drinks that aren’t listed on the menu. The atmosphere at Overstory is truly remarkable; the rooftop setting, stylish decor, and comfortable seating made for a very enjoyable and relaxing evening. Expanding the food menu would significantly enhance the overall experience. Adding more options, such as chicken wings and other appetizers, would make Overstory an even more appealing alternative to driving into the city for a bar with great drinks and substantial food options.
This place has so much potential. I think once they work out the kinks, this place will be awesome in the summertime. This rooftop bar has wonderful views. It is nice to have a place like this without having to go to downtown Atlanta. Now, with that being said, there is still some room for improvement. The food was just okay. Wasnt bad, but it wasnt great either. I like the bar vibe with small plates. I love the concept of this place. I look forward to trying it again in a few weeks.
The atmosphere at Overstory Rooftop is nice but there’s no real “views”, however the sunset was pretty. The first round of drinks we had were watered down so we decided to get a round of shots instead of another drink. It was $20/per shot. I would have never expected a shot to be that much at a rooftop bar that’s not even in the city. The vibes were chill though and the staff were friendly. Just be prepared to spend money while you are there.
This new rooftop was a much needed addition in Gwinnett. It’s absolutely beautiful. You literally feel like you’re stepping into a new country once the elevators open. The service was phenomenal. The staff was super friendly and my waitress was very attentive. The prices weren’t bad. It was pretty much your standard hotel bar prices. I ordered the Anticuchos and it was pretty good. For drinks, I order both the Who Invited Becky and Margarita’s Cousin. The Who Invited Becky was okay but that Margaritas Cousin will have be going back very soon.
First time going on 5/4/24.. Hubby and went cause someone referred me to it cause. I love a good rooftop! However, I dont know if it is because they are new.. but they service is bad!! 30 min wait at the bar! Thats a no-no... 2 bartenders on a Saturday!! Plus, my drink had water down from waiting. Keep in mind this is Westin Hotel that its connected to! Now, the hotel lobby is outstanding 👌🏾! They sent us down the service elevator cause the main one was running slow!😩. So, coming from the city to Duluth was a stretch...now we met a wonder couple B&B is what I called them! So, they need to get the kinks together and more staff, and it might be a great place for the people of Duluth.
An amazing experience. We were there for an after-work social. The sun was setting and the view was amazing. There is an outdoor patio that wraps around the top floor. Inside you are welcomed to a modern well thoughtout spacious lounge and dining area with a massive bar in the middle. It was lively and beautiful. The staff was friendly and attentive. With a creative menu and great drinks, a good time was had by all!
This has to be the most wonderful place in Gwinnett County to meet movers and shakers. I have made some very important connections at this spot already, and it has changed everything for the better for me. Over story is one of the best places ive ever been to in my life, I even remodeled my deck on my house to resemble it.
My partner & I came to Overstory on a Tuesday night to celebrate my birthday. It was pretty busy for a Tuesday night at 8:30 pm, most tables were full. 100% recommend making a reservation. We made a reservation however, we arrived 15 minutes late. The host had already given away our table so he had to check if there were any open, fortunately, there was 1 open table, so dont be late to your reservation! The ambiance & vibes were on point, decor was beautiful. Great place for pictures and drinks. Definitely more of a lounge/bar than a restaurant. However, they could improve on the music and it would be nice to add a bar on the outdoor patio. We ordered the $40 lomo saltado entree. I think they should change the name of the item because it was NOT traditional lomo saltado. They should honestly just call it steak & fries because thats exactly what it was. Even though it was not lomo saltado, the steak was very tasty, cooked perfectly, and the portion size was nice. I do not think it was worth $40 and would not order it again though. The drinks were fine, overpriced, nothing special. In total, for 2 entrees and 2 drinks we paid $120 + tip. I would not come here again just because of how overpriced it is. However, It is a nice place to have a few drinks and chill with your friends if you dont want to travel all the way to Atlanta for a rooftop lounge. It is a great addition to the Gwinnett/metro area.
Currently 3 stars, but has the potential to be up to 5. The downstairs bar receives service right away, but the upstairs bar is clearly still finding their footing. I can see this being an amazing location in two months — they have spectacular decor and an inviting atmosphere, and are situated in a perfect location that needed a place like this. Once the warmer months are here and the restaurant is more solidly staffed, they’ll be unstoppable.
Visually stunning!Manager said people like to linger but I honestly just think their service is super slow from our experience. I will be back but not for food in their indoor or outdoor restaurant area. Not because the food wasn’t good, but because it was so incredibly slow. Our server came around once every 15/20 minutes to check on us. Took a long time to get food and drinks. AND they wouldn’t split our checks, she said “I don’t have time, just Zelle each other” (it was not busy, and it was just an unprofessional response)Next time I will get dinner somewhere else first, then when the outdoor bar near the water opens Id grab some drinks! Its very vibey, great music, night life feel, and chill. And just be prepared to pay $15+ for cocktails
Phillip and Toya were amazing! Provided great suggestions as this was our first time. Made sure our drinks were always full and even gave us a toast on the house. I ordered the Lomo Saltado and it was cooked to perfection!!!! The place is beautiful with an amazing view.We will definitely be coming back.
I hate to see all the bad reviews for this place, but let me first off say do your research before you ever go to a restaurant instead of just looking at the pictures. Overstory is not your typical soul food restaurant. Its designed and name with the concept of The Amazon Rainforest. Therefore, the food there is based off from the Countries: Bolivia, Colombia, Venezula, etc.If youre not into those types of food this is not the place for you. Ive been twice in one week. One time as a girls day out and Dayana was our waitress and was amazing. The second time I went on a date at night and Tara was our waitress and she was very knowledgeable of everything and gave us the meaning of Overstory Rooftop. The drink menu is like every other priced drink menu at any restaurant. Every restaurant will have a signature drink menu and will also have an open bar. I ordered drinks that wasnt on the menu and they were great and worth the price. Its definitely what Duluth needed because driving to the city is just becoming a tab bit too much. Going to Atlanta for any restaurant you will pay about 20 dollars plus for parking and then give you a minimum of 2hr seating time.I paid 5 dollars for parking for 4 hrs. You could valet if you would like as well.My experience was great. The food portions are small and limited because the vibe there is to relax, unwind and have a few drinks with an appetizer. Its not made for a birthday party dinner or just for dinner. Its literally a bar lounge. If youre looking for a place just to get a quick Venezuelan appetizer with a open bar then this might be the place for you. If youre looking for a hood hyped, R&B vibe this isnt that type of vibe. I will definitely be going back here just to relax at the bar and have a few drinks.
The decor and atmosphere of the restaurant was nice. However, the service was one of the worst I’ve ever experienced. The food took about 45 minutes to come out (there were a lot of empty tables, not too busy) and when we received our steak, it was so raw, it practically looked blue. We ordered a medium cooked steak. When we kindly asked the bartender for a new steak (since this one was completely inedible) she proceeded to give us a lecture about steak. “If you want a cooked steak you need to ask for well done.” No ma’am, if we asked for a medium cooked steak, we expect a medium cooked steak. Then, we waiting another 30 minutes for a fully cooked well done steak. The bill came out to be about $90 which was absurd for the quality and the terrible service we received. If you want to get disappointed and waste your money, go ahead and try this restaurant. After the dinner, we joined a few other customers in the elevator and they also agreed this restaurant had extremely rude and slow staff. If you’re trying to portray this place as high end, maybe hire real chefs and experienced servers that understand customer service.
I was a bit worried about coming here due to all of the negative reviews I read, but was pleasantly surprised tonight! Group of 4, had celebratory drinks and dinner. We were greeted by warm and friendly staff. Had the empanadas and arepas to start (delicious!) . The drinks were freshly made. We tried the lomo saltado and burgers and weren’t disappointed. Overall, great flavors and great service. If they were struggling before, it’s clear they’ve made positive changes over the past few months. Would return!
Saw this place on TikTok and I instantly wanted to go. The place is beautiful and the ambiance is amazing. Saw a lot of negative reviews on the service but I had the opposite. Our server was very informative and kind. The only critique I have is the food. The menu is limited with not many options. I would focus on the drinks if you have a lot of dietary restrictions. Overall, the place is amazing and I know it’s going to be a hit during the summer. Make sure to book your reservations !!
A really great time! Went with my dad to check it out, it was a decent amount of people for a Monday night. Valet parking was $10 (card only) or self parking option available as well. DOUGLAS is a bartender but served as our waiter for the night to help staff, he was so great. Really kind energy & great recs. We got the lomo Saltado, snack trio, and some drinks. All great. Rooftop was vibey and the interior is decorated nicely with trendy decor. Guests ranged from young professionals to older couples. Worth checking out if you’re in the area— good for date night or hangout with friends :)
Had the worst dining experience of my entire life here. It took an hour to be seated and be given waters. We had multiple servers come up to us and still never got drinks and had to get up and leave. The table next to us was getting great service and seemed to have no issues since they ordered a bottle, but the couples that came in around the time we did also were not served. No wonder the employees don’t care, they’re getting a 22% service charge! The hotel and restaurant itself were beautiful, but I cannot recommend coming here as the service was completely unacceptable.
I must say I was impressed. The rooftop is beautiful, has amazing views and the restaurant is very cozy and also beautifully designed. I stopped by to view the spaces and make reservations. I would like to specially thank Stanley, Franklin, and Malachi for making my visit a whole experience. They were very professional, efficient and attentive. They are top tier in my book. See you guys soon!
Food wasn’t bad, but be careful with some of the prices. I spent $13 on a $16 cold brew that was meant to have spiced sweet cream. They took three dollars off because they didn’t have the sweet cream which was realized after I received the cold brew.Went for brunch at 11 AM on a Sunday and no one was there. Service wasn’t great. Not busy, but potentially just not trained well enough. There was a lot that they didn’t have on the menu. There was live music playing, which was nice.
Pathetic manager. Seems like all the reviews were correct. It seemed like they werent really interested in doing business or something. Ill keep my party elsewhere, lol.So I went to the bar yesterday to ask about booking a table for 20 people since I couldnt do it online. I spoke to the manager, and he gave me a fixed price range and said hed send me a special menu in email. But guess what? I never got the menu mailed. I was fine with the price, with the time.Probably all the negative reviews are justified
Really like the rooftop vibe. We were here for a party and they seemed very unprepared. We finally got a server for our area and it took over 40 minutes to get a drink. With that being said, the cocktails aren’t bad but very expensive for what you get (weak). We also got 75% of a beer (pictured) - one was flat and the other was not the right beer but wasn’t worth trying to change. Hopefully this place gets better.
Food was phenomenal and service. This is my second time coming here and food and service was a good. I was very hungry Chef Jasmine recommended steak with gravy cook to perfection perfect with my drink Maria and we order appetizers yuca fries and tuna with chips. The tuna melts in your mouth but the beer cheese is a little odd taste (too much beer) Cierra did well, very friendly and accommodating. They’re very busy as first day of the week, seeing a chef running food is crazy. Second time coming here the manager is standing at the host stand.Don’t go on the late weekend they’re very busy. If you don’t have reservations and you have patience to wait for an hour you can.
I recently had the pleasure of dining at Overstory, a fantastic rooftop restaurant, and I couldn’t wait to share my experience. From the moment we arrived, the ambiance was inviting, and the view was stunning. The highlight of our evening, however, was the exceptional service provided by our waiter, Zachary. His attentiveness and friendly demeanor made our meal truly memorable.Overall, it was an incredible dining experience. The combination of delicious food, breathtaking views, and outstanding service from Zachary made it a night to remember. I highly recommend Overstory to anyone looking for a memorable dining experience.
The setting was nice but the non reservation area could stand to have a better socially engaging setup. The drinks I personally had were not made well at all. The food was good and came out quickly. There was a leak in the ceiling. The environment is nice if you live close but not worth it if you have to go out of your way.
I went here for a bday brunch yesterday. The vibes are nice, but the overall experience was very underwhelming. The food was overly salty and the service very poor.We were sitting for at least 20 minutes before getting water. The restaurant was not busy at that time, so I was surprised. They also only served “decaf coffee” and no regular coffee was available to be made per the server.I ordered the hash and it was so salty, yuck. 2 people ordered the American breakfast which was poorly made. The bacon was overly crispy, and the potatoes and egg unseasoned. I also don’t think they checked the plating because one person got fruit on their plate and the other did not.Overall not worth the price. It looks like all the budget was spent on decorating, rather than having an adequate amount of staff, and appropriately training the staff/ servers.
Do not walk RUN. I had the most pleasant experience at Overstory, their ambiance felt like I was on vacation and their service was incredible. I had an early solo lunch while catching up on some work - they were patient, reassuring and incredibly kind. Then when the drinks and food came I was blown away. The drinks were delicious and the food was made to perfection. I had the Lomo Saltado and literally wanted to take more home. Over all 10/10 and definitely my new go-to!
I read and heard bad reviews about this place but I honestly couldn’t believe that the owners would open restaurant this beautiful on a rooftop to put no effort into service. Our reservation was at noon, we were late but luckily the restaurant was pretty empty and they accommodated us anyway. There was one waitress, one bartender for the entire restaurant at brunch time on a Sunday. Mocktails were not available, orange juice was so watered down, ordered sprite and was served club soda, ordered coffee, that was also very watered down, cold, and served alone, with no sugar or nothing to drink with. An hour in, still no food, and only 1 round of drinks, people started pouring in. The waitress was super stressed, the kitchen employees attempted to help bring out the food to the tables and were bringing out incorrect orders. My husband ordered a steak and eggs that was served without the steak initially. My daughter’s eggs that came with her pancakes were served after everyone was done eating. We refused a few plates that we did not order. I ended up eating an entree I did not order. The crab on my mother’s meal was cold, she didn’t touch it. The list goes on. We ordered the check, party of 9. A server brought us a bill for $27 that was clearly not ours either. After bringing it to the waiter’s attention, she brought the correct check and removed the soft drinks because it was obvious we didn’t touch them. The employees were miserable, explained they were understaffed and upset. Tip was included, we paid $490 to not eat half of what we were served from some meals we didn’t order to begin with. Proceeded to go to Starbucks in the lobby downstairs for decent coffee afterwards. I am not one to bash businesses as a small business owner my self but this review was necessary. We didn’t complain about the price, we didn’t make a scene about the horrible service, but I felt robbed after this experience.
Came tonight, Saturday with no reservation, small wait but was greeted and sat fairly quickly. Philip was our server and suggested the margaritas cousin, which was really good! had a chicken thigh app with haystack fries that had a lot of flavorful. The ambiance was warm and inviting, would definitely visit again! Thank you Philip for the great service!
This was the number one spot on my summer bucket list of rooftop restaurant. I live two hours outside of Atlanta as well as other one other person in our party of four. Reservation was made. My initial cocktail was taken back due to the undesirable taste. In my 20 years of drinking (41 years old), I have NEVER sent or complained about a cocktail. It took WELL over 40 minutes for me to get another cocktail or any cocktail for the table. One cocktail arrived at our table with lipstick and other residue on the glass. (Was told that the manage would not comp the drink) It took well over an hour to get entrees. The restaurant was not packed. This was the WORST experience I have EVER had at any restaurant. We were there for over 3 hours due to delays in service. Beautiful restaurant.
I recently had the pleasure of dining at Overstory, and I must say, it was an exceptional experience, largely thanks to the wonderful hostess. From the moment we stepped in, her warm greeting and infectious smile set the tone for the entire evening. Her professionalism and attentiveness were truly remarkable; she ensured that we were promptly seated and checked in on us throughout the meal to ensure everything was to our satisfaction. Her genuine enthusiasm for her role and dedication to providing exceptional customer service truly stood out. Her hospitality added an extra layer of enjoyment to our dining experience, making us feel valued and welcomed. I would highly recommend Overstory to anyone looking for not only delicious food but also outstanding service, thanks to the incredible hostess. She is undoubtedly a gem and a shining example of hospitality done right.
Gerardo was an amazing server. This was our first time here and would definitely come back. He was very attentive to us and also everyone. Nobody had a long wait time. He made our strawberry lemon drop and also our passion fruit lemon drop amazing. He’s very nice and has great conversation. He made sure we were taken care of from beginning to end. We received cold fries and he personally made sure we received HOT and FRESH fries. Who else would’ve came from behind the bar to make sure our food was right. 10/10 definitely recommend Gerry at the Overstory.
My friend and I had other dinner plans already that night but we decided to go experience the roof !! Absolutely gorgeous! The whole Hotel just opened and is just breaking in on the Duluth scene and I give it 5 stars for beauty and elegance ! We didn’t eat last night but my 2 drinks were really wonderful ! And Christine was just so great to take great care of us. We got there just as they opened so pretty much had the place to ourselves , but it was just the best place to chill and talk without lots of noise ! We will be back !! Thanks for the gorgeous experience !
Unfortunately, the sound system was down so we were told there was no music. Atmosphere is top tier. However, the young ladies at the front (host) are extremely rude. Maybe because its new and crowd was steady...but she was clearly over her head. Bartenders were very polite at the main indoor bar (there are a couple outside bars too). Over all nice experience. Once the music is playing and host become a little more welcoming, it will be great.
I called over an hour before arrival to inquire about the dress code and availability. They informed me there was no dress code and walk ins were available. I drive all the way to Duluth from the airport that took an hour to get there for them to tell me the they were no longer accepting people. But when I walked in they asked if I had a reservation or if I was a guest at the hotel so that doesn’t make sense. The bar was not over capacity and there were several tables available. Some guy there with locs came up to me and said there was some law and he could no longer accept people. Whatever he was saying made no sense and was inexcusable. I will not be coming back and will encourage others to go elsewhere.
This past Saturday my girls and I got all dolled up to celebrate my birthday. We found Overstory Rooftop on tiktok and thought it would be the perfect place to kick off our ladies’ night. We were excited to have a few cute drinks, sample a bunch of things off the menu, have a cute new pregame spot. We quickly found out that this was not that. The host that greeted us was very welcoming and sweet. She even warned us about the specific time when our table would be in direct sunlight to make sure we would be comfortable. We said it was cool, she showed us to our table, perfect! After that, nothing… Nobody came to our table for another 20 minutes. Finally, an empty-handed Christina shows up. No smile, no greeting, no menus, just an “is this going to be everybody”. We waited on menus, we ordered a round of drinks, and waited another 45 minutes, still nothing. We asked politely asked Christina for eta on our drinks and she responded to us in the nastiest, most condescending, belittling way. We immediately asked for 1 check to make things as simple for her as possible, paid it and sashayed out of there. We took our money somewhere we would be treated with the same respect we give out. It’s a no for me!
Liked the atmosphere but food wasnt good drinks were terrible and service was horrible. Felt like asking for a drink was such a problem and then it was thrown together. After tasting the drink the night was just kinda ruined and really just wanted to leave. You can take a few good pictures but thats about it for this place
When I arrived both hostesses looked at me like I was crazy. No greeting but one said “Everything is closed but the bar”. Ok I sat the bar and waited for one of the three bartenders to come out the huddle standing directly in front of me. They broke out but I got overlooked. They serviced the walk ups to my right then my left. I asked the young lady if I can order a drink. She says “Get it from him”. I ordered from him he made it put the margarita down and walked off. Another man came to check on me (the only nice person I encountered). When I wanted to check out him said “I made your drink but I didn’t ring you up”. So another guy came over looked me dead on my face and said “I ain’t never seen this lady a day in my life” but he was the one who brought me my tab. 🫨I was outdone.I wanted to like this place so bad since it’s so close to my house. It looks like a cool place to kick it but the service is HORRIBLE. I don’t care if I did come in an hour before they closed EVERYBODY shouldn’t have an attitude. I worked in hospitality and food service before so tired yes I get it but rude not Everybody. Oh it wasn’t that busy unless they had a big party outside in which I didn’t even go outside or get any food since everything was closed. There’s nothing on the food menu that I would want to order anyway. Train your staff on customer service it’s bad.
My best friend came in town and I wanted to take her to Overstory rooftop. We were greeted by a nice gentlemen with a big smile. We had fantastic service by Mo who had a fun personality! I had very good lemon drop martinis with empanadas and yuca fries with a yummy beer cheese sauce. It rained so we sat inside but it was still amazing to look out at the storm through all the glass! Excellent service, tasty drinks, great eats and an amazing view!
Very cute place ! The only issue we had was they were extremely understaffed.. it’s a pretty big place with an inside and outside and they had one bartender for the whole place and two waiters … food was decent for being a roof top nothing to crazy .. drinks were good ..i would definitely return tho .. and toya our waitress was amazing !!! Even tho she was very busy she was very attentive
Do not come here for the food. This is more of a bar atmosphere. The drinks are okay. Service is slow. I think this place is popular because of the vibe. The rooftop and view is beautiful and it does make you feel like you’re somewhere tropical once you’re up on the rooftop. However, I would suggest they work on the menu drinks and service. I Hope they get it together. So much potential. We need places like this in the area.would also recommend they add some light background music as well.
Our server Phillip made our visit here amazing! I came with my family and we all enjoyed ourselves thoroughly. Phillip had great food and drink recommendations that made our time here even better. Definitely ask for him when you come, he will make your time at Overstory one to remember!
Overall, I cannot speak highly enough of Phillip at Overstory Rooftop and the fantastic service he provided. He truly went above and beyond to make our dining experience memorable and enjoyable. He recommended great option off the menu and he took the best pictures of my husband and I. I highly recommend requesting him as your waiter if you have the opportunity to dine at OverStory. Thank you, Phillip for a wonderful dining experience!
My visit here was terrible and I will not be going back. After seeing beautiful photos and hearing great things about the restaurant, I was more than happy to go. The greeting we received was welcoming but the service was AWFUL. My experience with Christina our waiter was dreadful. She was disrespectful to our whole party, had slow service, and very condescending towards me. When asked about the wait time for our drinks she replied with snobby remarks and was dismissive, this happened more than once during my visit, so paid the bill and left quickly. Im very disappointed in the treatment I received, my friends and I left upset to say the least. Christina needs more training and honestly should not be working in the service industry.
Overstory is absolutely beautiful! The patio has gorgeous views, low playing music, and a natural good vibe. Chris G. was our server and he did an amazing job considering how crowded it was. He was very patient and had great recommendations for food and drinks. We will definitely be returning.
This is a very nice vibe, I especially like both of the outdoor patios. However, I experienced terrible service here. The bartender Nina made our drinks and handed us a non-itemized receipt that seemed high for just two drinks ($42). I asked her if the tip was already included to which she said they only include automatic gratuity for large parties…being we were only two people I went ahead and left an additional tip. After taking our drinks outside and doing the math the price we paid was exactly = two drinks + 20% gratuity. I don’t mind tipping but the dishonesty to try and get more money shows lack of integrity. Waited 15 minutes to talk to a manager and he kept said he would be right over but kept walking right past us to talk to other people.
Was nervous about bringing a first date here based on previous reviews but they are working hard to change their perception. The effort was greatly appreciated. Phillip did a fantastic job checking in on us and serving us throughout the night. I can’t speak for past experiences but my experience was great.
I’ve tried multiple times to book a reservation here but have been unable to reach anyone over the phone. Every time, I’m routed to the hotel staff, who do their best to assist, but I never get to speak with the reservations team. If you’re looking to book a reservation for a special occasion like a birthday, I wouldn’t recommend this place. I was really hoping for a good experience, but it’s been very disappointing.
Came because it was highly rated and looked beautiful. we were sat right away (no reservation) but from the time we were sat to the time we received our drinks was 45 minutes. waitress was nice but rarely stopped by and our second round of drinks took about 30 minutes. the manager came and checked on the table next to us 4 separate times in 2 hours and never spoke to us. hopefully they get more staff in so service can be better. drinks were also just okay.
I’ve anticipated this rooftop bar opening and could not wait to try it out. I’ve visited twice and will definitely visit weekly.. however.. the bartenders are “COLD”& “Tight” and the food options are 😬. The empanadas 😩 The chicken thighs on a stick were okay..fries 😩Best drinks were made by Nate. He was amazing the first day my group and I visited (Saturday 5/4), we all enjoyed his drinks and energy. My second visit on 5/9.. the bartender almost turned us away because we didn’t have reservations on a Wednesday. We had to ask could we sit at the bar and then she had someone check to see if a table was available. She then asked for my card to start a tab (mandatory). At the end of the night, my tab was closed out by someone else, BUT I now have a pending $50 charge (waited all day for a return call to tell my why). This bar is absolutely beautiful and It feels like you’re at a resort in Cancun without the great service. Hopefully by the summer, the energy will shift and everyone will Love their jobs 😂
The aesthetics are beautiful like the photos online. It’s July and they couldn’t keep the doors closed - and it was sooooo hot. My friend got up 9 times - yup we counted to close them. Not because she’s a good samaritan , but because we were sweating!!! They forgot about us so we couldn’t get our drinks nor order them. Charged me for 6 martinis when I got one. The server must of been crying because when she came to finally check on us her where were red and puffy. I definitely felt bad for her. Overall this place was not what I expected. Oh and the reservation could t be changed from 2 to 3 EVEN though they were not full at any time. Even our table had two extra seats. The server said they have lots of problems with reservations.
Really cute vibe and tasty food. Will definitely have to return for a sunset dining experience. Christina was on point and we tried several of the cocktails on the menu. Looking forward to coming back soon, thanks for the great experience!! 🙏🏼🙏🏼
Took my wife here for a date night, and the atmosphere of the place was outstanding. I would definitely come back again, but only for drinks/chill. Im rating 3 stars because, the food was OK was expecting a larger menu, but then again the place is on top of a hotel, so it’s only going be small bites. There’s also a lot of stuff going on, and not enough waiters and waitresses. My wife and I sat for a hot minute before waving down a waiter that didn’t even belong to the section that we were sitting at. Not a bad chill spot otherwise.
The food and atmosphere were fantastic. Great wine list too. If it’s nice out, sit outside!!! The rooftop patio is so pretty. Our server was Chris G and he was the best!! So attentive and friendly!
My girlfriends and I decided to go here for my friend’s 21st birthday. It was a complete disappointment. Service is nonexistent. Expect to pay above average food prices for roof top finger foods. We waited on silverware, finally received that when we were 50% finished with our meal. We also asked for 1 box and waited 15 for that. There was water leaking next to our table and splashed us. We will not be coming back.
Would give this place zero stars if I could however that is not an option. I went here with a friend after watching a TikTok so ofcourse we had high expectations for this establishment. Upon arriving the bar was packed however seating was available away from the bar so we placed our order and waited on a couch. While waiting a man whom I’m assuming is the manager asked us if we had a reservation and then asked us to move which was no problem. We got up and waited for our drinks. However a couple overheard the manager and asked us what happened. We explained the situation and to our surprise the manager never approached them when they also sat in that area. They offered us their seats at the bar as they made their way back to the couches that they didn’t reserve. The “manager” then proceeded to watch us from inside which made us uncomfortable. As more people entered in the staff working at the bar made it clear that certain couches were available to sit without reservations (the same couches we were told to move from). The manager then came to the bar and made jokes with a black employee which made me very uncomfortable overhearing. Besides that the drinks were not good and I definitely would not return.
I wish I got pictures of the food but just know it was presented well! They were a little bit busy today but the manager took it upon himself to serve me and my friends and it was surely appreciated. Derrick was one of a kind, attentive and generous and truly made my friend’s birthday special. If you’re looking for a beautiful rooftop with a staff and manager that’s willing to go the extra mile stop by here you won’t be disappointed!
The drinks were great but the food was lacking flavor. Beautiful plate, but it tasted very bland. Had a steak and it tasted like plain meat. Very disappointing.
The place is so beautiful, its so nice. The service is horrible, they have priority with the bar over the reserved tables. They took like 45 or more minutes to get us our drinks and food. It’s absolutely not the servers fault, they have the best attitude but they just dont have enough staff so they take FOREVER to serve the drinks or food. We really waited even 1 hour for just a beer, thats so sad.
Service was horrible. Spent more time at bar trying to get drinks than with my actual party because wait staff wouldn’t take orders outside and they had minimal bartenders. Wait staff was inexperienced blamed my party for sitting in a section that we occupied after it started lightning outside. Instead of asking what we wanted and resuming our ticket, short Latino woman got an attitude and blamed us for being seated despite another server bringing our food to the table. Location has great ambiance but isn’t ready for Primetime. Manager apologized for poor service and claimed conference attendees were to blame, but didn’t make adjustments. Won’t recommend or go back here based on short Latino woman literally getting in my face about her section. She cares more about her small section than the struggling restaurant. Did I mention that the elevator went out as well. Spent over $200 for drinks alone for 4 people only to feel like an afterthought by the short Latino woman.
Honestly, I was excited to experience the Overstory rooftop. I had seen videos, pictures, and social media posts; however, I was highly disappointed. The hostess’s were very welcoming and friendly. Our service was the complete opposite. We waited 45 minutes for our drinks. When we asked our server, Christina, about the long wait she had a one of the most disrespectful attitudes that I’ve ever experienced. She completely dismissed our concern and spoke to us in a very condescending way. We paid and left immediately! Needless to say, I won’t be back!
Really nice atmosphere but the food needs an overhaul. The chip sampler should be tossed. The burger was okay. Food was cold how? More bartenders are needed. It’s too busy for three. Witnessed a sever and bartender get into an argument over drinks.
Beautiful rooftop, but that’s all it has going for it. (And don’t go for sunset because it sets on the opposite side of the building.)The service was pretty terrible from the moment we walked off the elevator. From the host to the bartender, to the person standing by the elevator (who’s purpose I could not discern because he wasn’t helpful when we arrived or when we left at the end, both times when we asked simple questions that he couldn’t answer correctly). The drinks were delicious but were outrageously overpriced—they were about half the size they should have been. The food, although delicious, was also too small for the price—even for tapas portions. I will definitely not be going back. The only redeeming quality was the server, Nate; he was excellent!
My wife and I really enjoyed our time at the rooftop. Nice atmosphere along with a great setup. The staff were very polite and our bartender Jerry was awesome. He knows how to make a great old fashioned!
If you’re looking for food don’t come here! This is a 5 star hotel that sells 2 star food on their rooftop…why?!?! This has to be the most ridiculous menu I’ve ever seen. Hot dogs, burgers and finger foods. They should be selling steaks, seafood, etc. We sat down for 20 minutes at our table and nobody ever came. We left and so did the couple next to us! HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE! Don’t waste your time going! Disappointing😔. We left and went next door to Frankie’s (our favorite restaurant).
Great atmosphere and nice vibe for just sitting/talking. The only drawbacks is the slow service if you go to the main bar and the drinks were just ok! But if you are looking for a nice chill spot and you are in the far north Atlanta suburbs(Suwanee), then you need to stop by. There was a good woman to man ratio and everyone was dressed appropriately!
I really wanted to love this restaurant, but it did not meet my expectations. The atmosphere is beautiful! We ordered empanadas, the Wag burger and whiskey sours. The empanadas were dry and lacked flavor. The whiskey sours were also oddly bitter. The food and multiple rounds of drinks took 20-30 minutes to arrive. It has the potential to be great with a better menu and staff.
I visited this restaurant with my family, and we were extremely disappointed with the service we received from the hostess, Nayla. From the moment we walked in, her attitude was rude and condescending. While I understand that some restaurants require reservations, the place was nearly empty with only two occupied tables. Despite this, Naylas demeanor made it clear that she had no interest in accommodating us.The way she spoke to us was unacceptable. She seemed entirely uninterested in helping or serving us, which was very disheartening. Instead of welcoming us or offering any assistance, the only thing she made sure to point out was that the service charge would be automatically added at 20%. This was mentioned before even attempting to seat us, further highlighting her lack of customer service skills. For a restaurant that aims to attract customers, having a hostess who clearly dislikes her job and lacks basic customer service knowledge is a significant drawback. I strongly suggest that management considers hiring staff who are genuinely interested in providing a pleasant dining experience. We left feeling unwelcome and disappointed, and it’s unlikely we’ll return.
My friends and I went to Overtstory for our friends birthday. The service was horrible. We waited 40 minutes for our drinks. It was only seven of us. Mind you, it was not busy AT ALL. Three ordered the same drink (margaritas), two ordered dirty martinis, one ordered an espresso maritini, and another ordered a drink on the menu. Our waitress, Christina told us that all the drinks on the menu were premade and wouldnt take long. She did not have the best attitude. If I could, I would give it zero stars, but the valet guys were super nice and friendly. My friend and I went inside to see what the hold up was on our drinks. Christina in a passive aggressive condescending tone told us how the process of the drinks were made, in her exact words I put the drink orders in, the bartender then makes them, when they are ready, I pick them up and bring them to you. Its not like you all ordered a miller lite.
Very nice place for them to have such a horrible staff. Nothing but attitude and poor communication with customers. A guy who claims to be the GM (General Manager) has the worst customer service ever. Doesn’t even smile he speaks to you with lack of experience for the restaurant industry. He rather argue with you backward and forward instead of having patience and solve the problem. Server was very nice but horrible at her job never came back to check on us she took our food and drink and never came back to check on us. We waited almost 2 hours for food that never arrived. Staff needs to be more friendly!
They said they couldn’t accommodate our large party due to being short-staffed despite being notified of our party size ahead of time. they were finally able to seat our party together but it took over 20 minutes past our reservation time. service was so slow that we chose to walk around while waiting for our drinks and I was met with an incorrect drink when I returned to the table. I’m also unsure about their health safety policies because my boyfriend ordered 2 non-alcoholic drinks (no alcohol to kill the bacteria) and started feeling unwell which developed into tonsillitis.
I visited this roof top on 5/10/24 the food is mediocre it is NOT diverse enough. Also, they will need to get a new DJ a DJ that understands the demographics of the crowd and can shift the music according to who is patronizing the lounge and restaurant. It’s very important to be able to cater to the demographic that is spending the most money in every way! That’s business 101! You have to be able to adjust. Other wise the fire will die out and before you know it, the crowd will shift to a spot that is more catering and understanding to the food and music that they love.
My wife and I have been here several times since the hotel and bar are new and near our home. The atmosphere is highly reccomended. There are issues with the friendliness of the staff, it depends who you interact with. The hostess stand is usually staffed with 2-3 young ladies. They consistantly have bad attitudes. We get anything from bad looks, to silence, or smirks and snarky comments if you do not have a reservation. The problem with reservations is they never have openings on Open Table until 8pm. So we just show up around 5 and get whatever is available. Most days there are many open tables prior to 7 or 8 pm. We do not understand with so many empty tables you cannot get a reservation. We had a nice helpful bartenrder one time, the rest just more bad attitudes. It seems like at least half of the table servers are nice. The food is interesting, but most are items we do not eat, like hotdogs and hamburgers. We will still go here for the views.
Terrible experience from this bar. No welcoming or greeding at all. There was this Hispanic lady she was very unprofessional, she was saying smt random to us and said that she was sleepy? I mean, dont they teach the basic manners to the employees here? And they were being racist too, there were so many tables with a good view that they could give us, instead they chose to give us the table right next to the toilet just because we were Asian. Horrible service, compared to the beautiful facility.
Pros: aesthetically pleasing, very nice inside , nice ambience , parking is cheap, drinks are very good .Cons: service is poor...they need to hire more pplFood...well, they only have 6 entrées so I suggest you eat before you comePrice point of food a lot on the high sideIf you dont have a reservation and bar is full which it generally is, then you cant go it...they wont let you go in so there you have it. Wont be going there againWill send my hard earned dollars else where thats more customer friendly.
Sat at the bar and was constantly overlooked for other customers even though we were patient and ordered multiple rounds of cocktails. The bartender then would incorrectly make the drinks we ordered and instead of remaking them would lie; saying they were out of rocks glasses and oranges when we could see them. After spending over 300.00 we saw that the same establishment tried to charge us for a random amount of 160+ days later. This amount was after the final amount had been posted from our tab. In summary; subpar service and tried to scam us. Will not be back.
First time at overstory. Had a reservation, waited 30 mins and no one attended us. I walked up to Phillip and he was happy to srtve my party even tho it wasnt his section. Ask for Phillip! Hes the best. He has the best customer service. Love his personality too. I asked him to whip me up a mocktail, and it was the bomb! He even cane back to check on us.Other than that, pricing is a bit high. My mocktail was $16- the same price as my friends alcoholic drink. There was also an automatic service charge fee added to our bill. Very high for not being in the city. The hostesses at the hostess stand need additional training. They are rude, dont want to help you and look like they are on drugs when you ask them a question.I understand its Summr, but lots of bugs and dirty debris on the lounge chairs outdoors while we were sitting. They are clearly not maintaining them. They also need bug spray maintenance!
If i could give 0 star for this place, I would. Everything was a struggle and difficult. As soon as I walked in to meet my friends at 9pm, who had a confirmed reservation outdoor for 8 people at 8pm (whom they made it on time for the reservation by the way), but were told that there were no tables outside, and then they gave them a table for 5 people only while the restaurant is almost empty, the hostess tells me ‘sorry we are closed for the night’. But then let me in! Then it started raining and no one helped us move our food and drinks to another table, we did that ourselves. By 9:30pm, they rudely declined offering us food and drinks claiming the system is down. Asked for the manager and also they claimed the manager left then suddenly nonchalantly shows up to only secure some drinks after debating! To top it all, we ordered the bill and asked to split it between all of us, and to our surprise we were told that only 4 cards would be accepted to let us deal with the hassle!!! Another debate that went on for 15 minutes, they were able to split the bill among us. Overall the worst experience ever at such a reputable hotel with incompetent staff unfortunately.
This location has great potential, as it is a beautiful place with a pleasant atmosphere. However, the food was not impressive, as the lobster and fries lacked vegetables. The menu could use some updating and more variety. The drinks were weak and not very good. Overall, the service was slow. Despite these issues, the establishment has potential for improvement.
My experience was nothing less than amazing tonight. Me and my family decided we wanted to try out the new restaurant. The drinks were great but the food was spectacular!!! I then found out that the Executive Sous Chef was Chef Shaiheem!!!! He’s hands down the best chef in Atlanta. We will be back for sure and can’t wait to invite more people!!!! Thank you for a great experience tonight.
As everyone has mentioned before by other countless reviews; this place has so much potential to be something great for Gwinnett. This type of ambiance and setting has been missing in Gwinnett and I have been excited to finally check out Overstory in Duluth. But wanted to wait a bit since many reviews seem to have the same sentiment when it comes to service and food being subpar. And I get it…it’s still very new and still working out all the kinks. So I thought to also add a review with the intentions of it being constructive criticism.1st. Parking is super easy2nd. Ambiance of the main lobby downstairs very upscale and gets you in the mood especially if you’re on a date, it impresses. 😉3rd. When finally getting to the rooftop level, once again very upscale and have beautiful views, still shocked to see this in Gwinnett lol. Hostess unlike everyone else was fine no complaints.4th. The food…needs a lot of work. A lot of the food was bland or really forgettable. And I get it, usually at these “higher-end” places portions are smaller. We ordered every thing on the menu when it came to the small dishes and I wanted to like it so bad but it was either cold or bland…if I had to benchmark some really good places around Metro Atlanta: Delbar and Rubi’s (although different foods) kill it when it’s comes serving phenomenal food. If those were a 9 out of 10 when it comes to purely taste…Overstory would be at a 2 or 3. Really needs an overhaul in either chef or recipes!5th. The drinks…also were really bad. Espresso Martini wow…tasted awful. Watered down and just not it. My table ordered around 3/4 of the cocktails on the menu and the one with rhubarb also tasted very bad…tasted like cough medicine. The drink menu needs a whole overhaul and revisions.6th. Can’t recall my server’s name but service was slightly below average, would’ve been nice if she was more attentive. We had to remind her several times where are drinks were…she kept forgetting. If you’re going to have this upscale vibe the server’s need to step it up.Also random side note…we were handed paper menus for both drink and food; obviously had been re used and was ridden of food stain and drink stains on it. Maybe have laminated menus to avoid that? It was just an off putting first impression right when you sit down to see brown stains and grease stains all over the menu😂All in all I’d give Overstory another chance if I was informed they updated and improved both drink and food menu. As I said before place has a lot of potential but really missed the mark for me and friends.
Philip was amazing. He anticipated our every need. He was very attentive we never had to wait and he was extremely accommodating. The food he suggested was superb. 5 stars I will be back.
I recently visited this rooftop bar and unfortunately, the service was quite unwelcoming. Despite repeatedly asking if we could simply hang out at the bar and enjoy a drink, the staff seemed reluctant to accommodate our request. It took several attempts and persistent questioning before they finally agreed to let us stay. We had no intention of reserving a table; we just wanted to have a drink and enjoy the outdoor patio. It felt as though they were trying to discourage us from staying and made us feel unwelcome. Overall, the experience was disappointing due to the initial resistance from the staff.
Christin and tylar were amazing posts. We thoroughly enjoyed our time. The atmosphere was amazing. The food was amazing! The drinks were amazing! We will absolutely return as soon as possible so much appreciated!
Never been to a restaurant, let alone a brand new restaurant associated with the Westin, be so unprofessional and rude as this one. Don’t fall the hype videos. We stayed over an hour after our reservation and the rude hostess said people with reservations were waiting for over an hour in a half. He said the reservation was to “get our foot in the door”. Chaotic and rude was the staff. New bartenders and staff who clearly aren’t trained. We had an elevator full of people who said the same thing. Everyone also talked about how bad the food was. Steer clear from this restaurant. They need to clean house and start over with this one. Potential is there
I gave it 3 stars strictly bc the menu suuucckkksss!! The waitress Omeisha was amazing and very polite. I would want her next time I come. The atmosphere is beautiful, I will definitely come back but I’ll know it’s only for the drinks. There’s absolutely nothing on that menu for me. It’s 6 entrees and I couldn’t choose 1.But still go! The place is nice…….ill be back……for the drinks

My experience at the Overstory rooftop was quite enjoyable. This recently opened gem makes for an exhilarating date night or a fantastic day or night out with friends and family. The atmosphere is vibrant and full of energy.Like any newly opened establishment, they have some minor issues to work out, such as the wait time. Im sure that as the weather gets warmer, Overstory will become even more popular, provided those issues are addressed. I can hardly wait to return!
MANAGEMENT ! LISTEN UP!!!!This place was put together by a corporation with lots of money, but you guys are hiring people like this is a McDonalds. The waitress was terrible because she wasn’t trained, had a terrible attitude and on top of all had like 5 tables with like 7 people each that she couldn’t handle. The food was ok, if you tasted the steak, but thennnn you tasted the ceviche and get ready for some CHEAP fish at a premium price that all it did was make you sick the rest of the day. Its really sad to have to write this review because the place is beautiful and even the menu looked really good but the staff is trash and it’s not well trained. This isn’t about one waitress, this includes bartenders and even the GM with the dreds…. Train or fire, but don’t ruin such a nice scene for the people that want to enjoy a different scene.
Extremely beautiful & great vibe with a nice mixed crowd. The place is understaffed and the food was horrible!!! Please add some different food choices & get rid of every single one on the menu…we kept trying & ordered 3 different items thinking they would get better. Nothing excited our tastebuds and we threw everything away.
We had a reservation confirmation number and we struggled to find space for us when we arrived. Table provided barely fits 5 while our reservation is for 8 ppl. After it rained, we asked to move to another table but no one helped. We had to move everything by ourselves. They had a system down and closed everything at 9:30.we couldn’t order drinks or food.when we asked for the manager they said he left then suddenly he showed up to talk to us and secured our drinks only. After ordering the check, they said they can accept only 4 cards but after we debated with them and accusing them for false marketing they were able suddenly to accept more than 4 payment cards. The waiter closed the door at 10:40 while google says they close at 11 and then came to us, started yelling at us and making manners with his hands asking us to leave immediately. Employees are all so rude, nonchalant, unprofessional and mean. This is not what we expected from a newly place that is being that much advertised. This place is not recommended and i can say this is the worst service we’ve ever encountered in all Georgia.
Wish I had a better experience here because its so close to home but unfortunately it was bad. I didnt eat so cant say much about the food but geez service was the worse. We ordered drinks at the bar and kept our tab open in case we wanted more drinks later. When we went to the bar to close the tab I overheard one of the bartender say I hate when people go in-between sitting customers at the bar, talking about us when we walked up. Then we waved another bartender down to get our tab for us and he looked annoyed and was huffing and puffing to ring us out. I work in customer service as well and this is absolutely unacceptable. We will not be back. The best thing about this bar was the decor and the location. Thats it.
Place is pretty but way overpriced. $12 for 6 yuca fries. $16 for a massive ice cube and a splash of margarita. The waitress forgot about us multiple times and never brought silverware with the food. Hostess also made it feel like a not very welcoming environment.
The atmosphere, food, and views were amazing. I definitely think there are some kinks that need to be fixed but it should not deter anyone from trying out this new rooftop bar. Special shoutout to Derrick for going out of his way to make sure that my friends and I were taken care of. It was a busy night last night and Derrick apologized for the lack of service we had received and took matters into his own hands by taking down our drink and food orders. I highly appreciate a manger that will step in when his staff needs the help. I will definitely be returning in a couple months to see how much progress there has been. Thank you again for a great night!
Today was my first time here and Jerry (Gerarado) was AMAZING!We sat at the bar. He was attentive, Professional, and made some bomb drinks! The ambiance was nice. I would suggest to Overstory, maybe bringing in live music (A Saxophonist, jazz, blues, etc.) I live for a good Adult, hookah free, dj free spot outside of atlanta to just vibe and have good conversation. While the Ambiance was great,Because of Jerry, we will definitely be back !Thanks Jerry ;)
Toia was AMAZING! She provided us with such a great experience and even took our pictures. She was so sweet and the customer service was phenomenal. We will be back!
We visited for Father’s Day and anniversary brunch. We had a great experience. Our waitress Omeisha was very pleasant and checked on us throughout our time.
We have been to this establishment many times, but sadly, today was not a good day. It took 30 mins for the server to take our order, only for us to be told that the kitchen was initially closed becuse it was backed up and that half of the menu was unavailable. We ended up ordering the blueberry compote pancakes which arrived without the compote and crab benedict with eggs that arrived 15 mins AFTER my husband finished his meal, and cold. The server, whose clothes were severely food stained, apologized profusely and advised us that the manager would provide a percentage off the bill, namely for the missing compote. Unfortunately, he did no such thing. When questioned, she called him over and he simply keyed in his code and walked away. Neither an ounce of empathy nor applogy from him for the 2 hours spent waiting for a meal. Disappointed.
The aesthetics is so nice here! In top of that Jerry and Tray, the bartenders were so attentive and cool. And thank you Philip for the wine! Would definitely recommend and come back to.
I recently went to the rooftop with some friends and ordered the Lomo Saltado. However, I must caution others not to order this dish as it was merely a pile of fries with some mysterious meat. When I asked the lady what it was, she said they put a twist on it, which I found amusing. Despite this, I ate as much as I could.Later on, I asked the bartender if there was a valet service, and he suggested that I go to the hostess. However, the hostess redirected me to the lobby where I met William. I asked William if he could validate my valet ticket, and he responded quite rudely, asking me who told me to come there. I mentioned the bartender at the rooftop, and William proceeded to storm off to the elevators, saying that he needed to talk to them because they keep sending people there. As I was leaving and heading towards the valet, Marlon greeted me, and the valet guys were quite courteous. However, I must say that Williams customer service skills were terrible. The valet was reasonably priced at $10, which is not bad considering that I usually end up paying $10-$20 in the city. I hope others have a better experience than I did.
Pretty place. But that is all that this place has going for it. The food was bland and basic. The drinks were TRASH. Their two most popular drinks are made in a batch. If im paying $15 or more for a drink, it needs to handcrafted. I ordered a margarita that tasted like mixer. The service was probably the worst ive had in a long time. Our waitress was sweet but lacked knowledge of what the place had to offer. They kept bringing us other peoples food and drinks. They are SLOW!! We sat at 4:20ish and i didnt get my drink until after 5pm because the bar was backed up. The place wasnt even packed!! They just opened about 2 weeks ago so my best advice would be to give them some time to work the kinks out.
The food was very mediocre. Nothing special about it. Very disappointing being that the place is pricey. The service was terrible. Wasn’t about to get a glass of water until like 30 minutes later. During lunch my cousin never received her food. The Ambiance was beautiful though.
We were assisted by Priestly who is phenomenal. Likewise, the manager, Tyler, was welcoming and responsive to to anything I asked. As a Suwanee resident, I will quickly return as well as recommend to my network!
Went there last week and the ambiance is amazing! I primarily drank wine so I cant speak to the food, and while the apparent manager said that over half of the outside seating area was closed, server Cam (spelling) made everything right! He was really the reason why I stayed.Once they work out all the kinks this place is going to be a gem!
Chris G. was an amazing server! He was fun, kind, and attentive even though they were packed. We were visiting from out of state and have loved the service we have received from the Westin! All servers should be like Chris!
The atmosphere is beautiful but the manager Tyler is HORRIBLE. He is one the worse person to have in management. I highly recommend the executive management getting rid of him if they want this place to thrive. It definitely could be a VIBE!
Currently sitting here and it’s been well over 30 minutes now and we still haven’t met our waiter … no water, no service. We came here for our anniversary to grab drinks, but we haven’t even been served. This place has a lot of potential, but this is so pitiful. The hosts couldn’t crack a smile, and Ive watched what appears to be the manager speak to the same table just yapping … they are right next to us but we don’t even have water in our glasses.
The only review you need to read, upon entering the view and restaurant was beautiful. Everything was fine until I was told there was a 40 minute wait time when I had a reservation, (the man with braids and a gap) was rude to me and my accomplices for no reason at all, we are literally the nicest people ever. The food came out slow, but it was great! I order the Anticuchos and the Lomo cudos to the chefs on that, the drinks however were way too expensive and nasty! The bartenders act like this is there first gig, again I am patient but this is a Westin property folks this almost reminds me of a Hampton Inn. I know they just opened so there’s a few kinks but the things I discussed shouldnt be an issue, I won’t be returning.
The atmosphere and place is so beautiful, and have a lot of potential. But the food and the drink where 3/10, Racetrac’s hot dogs are better than the Venezuelan Hot Dogs.
Drinks was nice. way too hot even when sitting inside hence the 3 for atmoshphere. If they can manage to cool ot down and provide fans for the ga heat it would be a solid 4.5. the food is a hit or miss. it depends on what you order. the empanadas are really good.
Today I had the most extraordinary dining experience at this exquisite restaurant. From the moment I stepped in, the ambiance swept me away with its captivating beauty. The brunch spread was nothing short of amazing, offering a delightful array of dishes that tantalized the taste buds. The live jazz performance added a charming touch to the already enchanting atmosphere. The service was impeccable, with a team that was not only friendly and accommodating but also exceptionally quick and personable, ensuring a memorable dining experience. The breathtaking views only added to the overall appeal of the restaurant, creating a truly unforgettable setting. However, the true highlight was undoubtedly the culinary mastery of the chef. Each dish was a work of art, but the eggs benedict stole the show with its perfect blend of flavors. The hollandaise sauce complemented the crab egg benedict beautifully, enhancing its flavors. The succulent crab meat atop the benedict paired impeccably with the flavorful hollandaise sauce, resulting in a truly delicious combination that elevated the dish to new heights. The buttermilk biscuits melted in the mouth, complemented perfectly by the sweet spread atop them. The pancakes were delightfully fluffy, and the bacon, with its sweet glaze, was irresistibly decadent.Every morsel that graced our palates was bursting with flavor, leaving us utterly impressed and thoroughly satisfied. Without a doubt, this restaurant deserves the highest praise for delivering an unparalleled dining experience that exceeded all expectations.
A friend and I popped in on a Friday night for a quick drink and to catch up. The hotel itself is largely as expected: very nice interior decor etc. Took the elevator to the rooftop bar and the hostess recommended we sit at the bar. We found 2 seats, far side where people had just left and the counter was wet, a half full glass of water sitting there. The folder with the check wasn’t on the counter which meant someone had picked that up but hadn’t cleaned the counter. We sat down, about 10 minutes in someone finally acknowledged us and we asked to have the counter cleaned while we were ordering drinks. It gets even more interesting, I decided I was going to try one of their spirit free drink option and was promptly told “we do not have that.” I asked which of the options did they have and was told that they hadn’t prepared any of the options printed on the menu today. They didn’t offer any alternatives. I settled on the “who brought Becky” or something like that. We ordered the Yuca and Patacones which took about 30 minutes and were cold. As we sat there sipping our drink we could see a bartender using Oceanspray grapefruit juice to make a drink, how tacky, they were pouring directly from the oceanspray bottle. Finally as we looked to leave there was just 1 elevator working!!! Waited another 10 minutes to be able to depart. Lots of kinks to work out. I’ll wait a few months and check back to see if any changes have been made.
Wonderful, elegant and vibrant roof top restaurant/bar in a beautiful hotel. Very nice and friendly staff. Our server was knowledgeable about the menu. They offer a great variety of delicious drinks. The South American inspired appetizers were absolutely flavorful. We ordered the patacones, arepas, anticuchos and empanadas, all paired with very tasty sauces. Can’t wait to go back and enjoy another fun night…..
Jerry and Tray were our bar tenders and they were AMAZING! Knowledgeable, attentive, and friendly. Phillip was accommodating and made sure we had a good time.
Alisha was my bar tender tonight and was phenomenal. She provided great recommendations and was very knowledgeable and responsive. Great service. I’ll certainly be back again soon.
I can’t speak for everyone’s experience but this was my first time here and i really enjoyed myself. Our waiter, Philip, was sooo cool and amazing from the time we walked in lol 😂 his personality was fun and i love how knowledgeable he was of the menu. he gave good suggestions/recommendations, overall my experience was 10/10.
The atmosphere and service was excellent. Our server was Chris G and he was very pleasant and attentive. I would definitely go back. Its nice to have something with the type of atmosphere in the Duluth area.
Do not go here! Our server, Christina, was condescending and slow. She spoke to us as if we were children and was just rude! I have never been so disrespected by a server for no reason at all.
Horrendous service. It is waffle house customer service in a nice environment. The host (AA male with braids) completely rude and unprofessional, but he also mentioned that our reservation might not get a table due to people from 2.5 hours before us are still waiting on their table. We move to the bar where we waited 30 mins before being noticed by the bartender, just so he can ask what goes in each one of our drinks that we ordered..he takes our order and 20 mins later, we still dont have our drinks and he comes back and blames us for not knowing what we wanted. Sir we gave you our order and you dont know how to make them and that is our fault? I told him to cancel the drinks and he said its alright, you guys look like yall tip only like four bucks anyway. His name was Cam, I believe. Sir, please learn not to judge a book by its cover. I cannot wait to tell my peers at the hospital to stay away from this place. Im sure the staff is just a reflection of the waffle house manager they decided to hire. Westin do better.
It was an awesome experience. Our waiter Phillip was very professional and nice. And knew everything about the food and wine. Would really recommend this place
I went with a group of friend to have some dinner. First the host/manager was rude without manners. After that they seated us almost in the middle of the hallway. We order some tapas to share, and literally, bring us 2 empanadas, 2 arepas, a buch of re-fried fries with some stange meat and some re-fried yucas for $80. During the evening, I was talking with other clients and the manager hit me, he never apologize, and when I confront him he told that I was in the middle. Other clients has also problem with this manager during the evening. The rooftoop dont worth it, since you cannot see the sunset because has a wall to the west. Parking is not includes, if yor arrived and have to wait to be seated you cannot order from the bar, etc.....The only things that sastified our evening was the server Nate and the drinks was awesome.I HIGHLY RECOMMEND NOT TO GO TO THIS PLACE, DONT WORTH IT
The staff were friendly, but the alcohol and food were terrible and expensive. The atmosphere wasnt as good as I thought, and most of all, It took them a long time to bring water, alcohol or drinks, and foods. It wasnt a place to enjoy for a long time. But the server called Cynthia was kind.
Before arriving, I called the restaurant 3x to get details on parking, location, & rooftop access (OpenTable said they only take walk-in’s for outdoor seating so I wanted to call & confirm). No one picked up the phone all 3 times I called. I arrived to the restaurant with a friend & a doorman greeted us, not the hostess/host. He told us they were not seating people outdoors on the rooftop patio due to the wind. That was strike 1 because we came specifically to enjoy the weather outside & if they would’ve picked up my 3 phone calls, I would’ve known prior to arriving.Since we were already there, we decided to stay. Doorman proceeds to tell us we can enjoy food & drinks in the lounge area. We sit, wait for service for about 7 min, but no one acknowledged us. I went to the bar to see if we should just order at the bar & have food & drinks sent to the lounge, but none of the bartenders greeted me. That was strike 2.Eventually, I asked the host how I should order if we’d like to sit in the lounge. He said we need to start a tab at the bar & then have them bring it over. We find 2 seats at the bar & wait for about 10 min. None of the 4-5 bartenders working acknowledged us or any other patrons sitting at the bar. All bartenders & barbacks were just focused on making their drink tickets. Strike 3.Eventually, one does acknowledge us, but only to say we were sitting in someone’s seat. Didn’t say hello, didn’t say we’ll be right with you, didn’t offer us a different seat at the bar. Strike 4.So, we moved to the opposite side where there was 1 chair left. My friend stood up while I sat so we could wait for somebody, ANYBODY to acknowledge us. Nobody did. A bartender dropped off the check to a group of women that were right next to us & I know he saw us standing there with no drink & no menu, but proceeded to ignore us. Strike 5.We ended up leaving & paid $10/each to valet our vehicles for nothing. A couple that arrived after us who were also sitting at the bar ended up leaving as well because the service was so terrible. This is a beautiful restaurant with great potential. I understand it’s a new establishment & they’re trying to get the hang of things, but simply acknowledging guests should not be a problem. A simple “hello, we’ll be right with you” would’ve sufficed. The fact that we were there for over 20 min without anyone acknowledging us (aside from the doorman & host) is unacceptable & a huge reflection of poor management & training of the staff.
Took awhile to get service, but she arrived it was pretty decent for the rest of the night, until we paid the bill. We received 2 bills, one per couple, we gave 2 credit cards, but she charged both bills to one credit card.
It was my first time here and boy were they busy! My friend and I made our way downstairs, where we met Belene Sweetsong one of the bartenders she is just the sweetest person I met! She was swamped but she was still attentive to our needs. Thank you girly for being fantastic!
Ask for Philip, on 9th for he is very knowledgeable re: menu & drinks, The views are spectacular, Lobster not over cooked and order Antiochus as it a top seller. I will be back for Sun 11~2 brunch!!!!
Beautiful rooftop, great atmosphere, reasonably priced drinks and Omesha was such a gem to have as our server. We’ll definitely be frequenting here.
I had a really great time! The atmosphere is great and our waiter Tre was really nice! The views are amazing as well! Will defenitely be back.
The rooftop itself is aesthetically pleasing, although it could have better looking furniture. Food and drink quality is that of a two star hotel bar. Random menu options. Churros and snack trio rock hard or stale. Cocktail too sour, mocktail too syrupy. Elevator malfunctioned as we were leaving… Perhaps things will improve after some time.
We can hear for Cinco de Mayo and my friend’s birthday. We sat at outside on the rooftop and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The bartenders and servers were A-1. I will definitely be back soon!
I guess it’s a new place and the hype was real so I checked it out. It wasn’t that great to be honest. The server was not knowledgeable about the menu and their availability, and took forever with everything. The place definitely has potential. So i cant wait to try it again this summer. Hopefully it will get better by then.
Beautiful, trendy atmosphere. The views are magical especially at sunset.Great staff, good drinks including mocktails ( Ask Nate to make something special for you, he was amazing!
Phillip is amazing. Came to the restaurant to celebrate a friends graduation. Phillip came to the rescue. There was total confusion and caos when all of sudden the internet went out and orders and drinks were delayed. The people became hangry for their food and thirsty for their drinks. People were biting and scratching and ready to burn the place down . But then Phillip appeared and said NO! NO MORE FIGHTING. The people all stopped and looked. Phillip led the rest of the staff in the food serving and the customers and staff lived happily ever after!
Easter Sunday ~ Brooklynn was such a sweet and gracious new server! We appreciated our experience with her 😍!Friday 3/29 was my first experience at Overstory Rooftop @The Westin Duluth & I absolutely adore the ambience, decor and open vibe! Management (Tyler & Stanley) was friendly and helpful! I’m so glad to see Gwinnett provide a nicer rooftop experience!!!
Nina was an amazing server with great knowledge of the menu and suggestions! Their version of the espresso martini was the best I have ever had.
My husband I walked in to have dinner and some drinks on a Thursday night. We walked in and waited at the host stand for maybe 5-10 minutes. No one even bothered to approach us even though 3 waiters passed by us. A girl from the bar finally came and asked if we had a reservation. We said no , so she mentioned we could sit at the bar or go to one of the tables on the left side that are taken care of by the staff in the bar. We than sat down and got waters . We were waiting and waiting and no one came to take our order for even a drink. We tried to wait a bit to see if a manager would approach us since they told us someone would come due to us waiting at first. It took so long that we just left . It was a really bad experience and to what I see in the above comments . Someone has to address this asap. It’s a very beautiful restaurant but service is horrible . And we had to look for a whole different restaurant after parking at the deck . It was inconvenient mostly because they weren’t even that busy .
I really enjoyed my experience The food was good, very nice atmosphere and our server Phillip was excellent! Cant wait to return for brunch!
This was a great experience! Phillip and Toya were great servers! The food was great & they provided great suggestions! They were very attentive & we will for sure be returning!
Menu needs to be redone. Atmosphere is impeccable; however, staff and service is like a local hookah lounge. Not for a date night with husband.
This place is unreal, they had a private event and we couldnt even order a drink at 10p. Ive been here two other times and the food is NOT good and the drinks are blah. What a shame. The place is pretty but has a long way to go! Taking my business elsewhere.
Tyler!!!! OMG your service!!! Phillip wow THE BEST SERVICE!!!! We initially weren’t able to be seated outside and Tyler stepped in and saved the day!! B-day complete!!! The ambiance is everything!! We definitely will be back!!!
The service was top notch, we had a large group and our waiter was very patient and accommodating. The food however was a whole other story.
Tyler was ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!!!!! Listen here, I will be returning. AMAZING customer service!!!! Phillip was ABSOLUTELY AMAZING as well!!!! Thank you fellas for making my 1st time experience a remarkable & rememberable one! Omeshia icing on the cake of service!
There’s 3 guys behind the bar with the worst attitude, thinking that somehow they are special and everyone has to wait, and I do not mean wait in a good fashion wait-wait, but in the I do not see you/I could not care less about the customers fashion, obviously worst time in the US. Pretty bad image about US bars. Someone needs to talk to this bartenders
The hostess needs an attitude check, we literally asked at the front and were told we can sit anywhere without a reserved sign. We found a table and no manners or politeness to tell us she had given the unmarked table to a reservation. The hostess was just flat RUDE!!! They need to find someone with manners.
This is the spot that Gwinnett was missing, the ambiance was amazing. Food was great, the drinks were amazing and the service was top notch!
Great Service and We had appetizers and desserts. Great ending to date night. Great drinks definitely a vibe.
Gerardo and Phillip were amazing they served our party well and the restaurant is a beautiful and elegant vibe!!! I had an amazing time!
Went for the view so I didn’t try the food. It was a bit underwhelming since the area around it had nothing going on really. The hotel was very clean though and service was decent for walk ins.
Philip Allison was our server and he went above and beyond with our service. Our party ordered Arepas , Patacones and skinny margaritas and everything was delicious!
I had a blast and Tyler the GM was super hospitable, he owned the entire experience. The staff was nice and ready to serve! Great Service!
Best new spot in Gwinnett. Had a great time! Food was delish, but our bartender Nina is the reason we will be back! Thanks Nina!
Beautiful place but the service is bad. Last call on Friday was at 10:00am, music still playing, people arriving and they won’t give you one more drink. And they need to do something about the menu.
Tyler, provided excellent service and the hotel is gorgeous. Thank you for adding a sparkle to our evening. We will definitely come again.
This place is beautiful. The ambience and atmosphere is amazing and makes you feel like you are in another country. Now,they really need to work on their service because it doesnt match the place. The greeter was super cold and just told us to go sit wherever we wanted apart from the reserved tables. We chose to sit outside and no waiter came to us.We had to go order the drinks and food from the bar.We were told the food will be ready in 15 mins and someone will bring it to us.Well,no one did and had to go follow up.The food was just lying on the counter. We requested to have it warmed but was told they do not have a microwave.Manager was kind enough to do what he did and the food was atleast warm.Hopefully the service will improve in the near future.Would love to come back to better customer service!
The atmosphere was truly electric! I enjoyed the service and the view. We will definitely be returning.
Food was horrible, the chicken was barnt but really really barnt I couldn’t even eat, the ceviche no flavor, no salt, no lime, it’s not worth that Instagram hype I wouldn’t come back.
Okay so it took them a long time to get us water haha we had to ask them 3 times and the beer cheese was amazing omg so good. main food not the best. Sorry
I had such a good time! Drinks were amazing and service was excellent. The manager Tyler was such a vibe!
Phillip took amazing care of us!!!! Rooftop was a vibe service was excellent!!! Jerry and Trae were great bartenders!!!
I only give 3 stars because The place itself was beautiful. But please train your servers properly…It took our group of 4 people 30 mins for every single item we ordered and it was not busy at all
The food was delicious, the bartender was too rude, she didnt want to serve us, basically we had to beg her to take our order, she had a very bad attitude, in conclusion if you are going to come book so you dont have to go to the bar with her.
I was hoping the reviews would be wrong/overly critical. They were right though. Definitely more of a bar than a food spot. Service is dreadfully slow.
I could not get past the lady at the front desk named Michelle! She’s very combative and does not comprehend the simple language of English! She made it very hard to book a reservation so I just opted to dine else where! Believe the reviews! the customer service is terrible and this facility will loose tons of business due to this!
I think Alisha was great. She was very attentive and very nice. She cared about us and made sure we were taken care of.
