Employee for massage, pedicure and manicure rushed through the entire appointment making my spa day not enjoyable. They got my name confused with someone else so I don’t think I got the correct spa treatment from the start. This is the first time I have been rushed so badly at a spa before. I couldn’t even drink my hot tea in the relaxation room. Also want to add the pedicure employee asked me if I wanted to use her tool to do the job myself, very unprofessional. Never again. I am an easy going person and have been to amazing spas but this was the worst experience I have ever had. I added the mug of the tea I couldn’t drink. I left more stressed than when I entered. Fountain Spa needs to observe their employees.
The policy regarding lost certificates makes absolutely no sense. In December 2022 I purchased two gift certificates totaling about $400. One of the recipients misplaced their gift cards and asked if I could obtain another. I contacted The Fountain and spoke with a representative who was able to see the unused gift card and informed me that all I had to do was to come in and provide identification in order to obtain a replacement. When I reported to the spa, I was told that I needed to provide a copy of my bank statement or provide the receipt in order to be issued a replacement. I uncertain whether or not I paid using cash. At any rate, I was told that this was the companies policy and am basically being forced to forfeit the gift card. I am extremely dissatisfied in the quality of service provided by the Fountain and would Hate for this to happen to anyone else.
This is barely a spa. Its hardly even relaxing. Good thing we had a gift card because if I had paid the astronomical prices they charge out of my pocket Id be even more upset. The mens locker room had toilet paper on the floor, water stains all throughout the ceiling tiles and wall, and the shower had brown spots on the tile. Is this room cleaned once a week? 8 out of the 15 lockers were out of order so Im guessing they dont expect many men to come here. The waiting area is wide open, full of outdated furniture like wicker chairs and fake flowers youd find at the dollar store. Its extremely too bright and and resembles an office waiting room instead of somewhere to relax and get in the mood for a massage. The carpet was filthy, stained, and looks like it hadnt been cleaned EVER. Cob webs in the high hat lighting added along with the large window facing the parking garage. So relaxing. The massage was decent but felt rushed. We were never even asked any problem spots, we had to tell them ourselves. That was after the aromatherapy upsales pitch. Sorry but trying to be sold products as youre walking in for a massage is not relaxing, its insulting...do it ahead of time. I ordered a deep tissue massage and was barely gone over with any pressure. It was mostly just oily hands fastly rubbing up and down my skin. Im still in pain after today, not a single kink was worked out. The speaker in the room was also blowing out, so this loud fuzzy crackling noise was really putting me out of the mood. When it was over, theres really nowhere else to go, nothing else to enjoy. The place is dated and whomever owns this establishment is extremely cheap. The place needs to be brought into the 21st century. Its a shame people spend so much money for mediocrity. Ive been to WAY better places, actual spas, and half the cost. Will never go back nor recommend The Fountain to anyone.
Really nice spa. The ambiance is relaxing and staff are really helpful and pleasant. The massages are good but the facials are even better in my opinion. I try to go at least once a month.
Mediocre. For the sake of clarity, I love going to the spa. I love the experience. I’ve been to many. This was my first time at The Fountain in Hackensack. It’s a beautiful space. I arrived to my appointment at the Fountain early as instructed, but my service felt rushed. I think it even ended 10 minutes early. I had the vitamin C facial. Honestly, I’ve had a much better facials at other spas. The amenities are very nice here, but the facial was just average. The vitamin C facial was not worth the money.
I really enjoy the facial and the pedicure. My spa experience was great. The products I bought were good for my skin. They were gentle and make a difference.
Appointment making: called in three or four times (had questions and moved appointments one time). Every interaction was disappointing. The phone clerk(s,?) sounded bored/annoyed. Made the appointment in person with someone st the front desk, same experience. The girl was curt, made no effort to sound pleasant. I was using a gift card, otherwise I would not have booked.Check in at the front desk: Same girl who made my appointment, same attitude. Not a great start.Greeter: Very pleasant lady greeted me, handed over the robe and sandals, and showed me around. Positive.Whirlpool: Clean room and private. Tons of towels (though one was past it’s life expectancy). Positive.Massage: Great experience. Therapist was very pleasant and a good listener.Facial: Meh! Not positive but not negative. A couple of products caused a burning sensation on my skin but that’s not the therapist fault. I did say to her my skin reacts badly to a specific ingredient and nevertheless she left a recommendation for me to buy a set of products featuring that very ingredient. Not great listening.Locker room and tranquility lounge: Mostly horrible, terrible. Only a few positives: Admittedly clean, big and clean steam room, plenty of lockers and towels. The negative: Cheap, hard toilet paper. Missing tiles from ceiling in bathroom and dressing room (had a feeling someone could peek in or some creepy crawler would fall in). FILTHY, disgusting dressing room (see pictures). Outdated furniture and decor.
It was ONLY a sales pitch for my entire Facial. NO RELAXING! All she did was try to sell me products and upgrades. I declined over and over and she actually left a tiny bottle of a product with the front desk for me to purchase AFTER I DECLINED MULTIPLE TIMES. EVERYSINGLE person was on their phone in the tranquility room. It was so loud. Beyond disappointing! I used to love their services. Now terrible service and all about selling!!!! Don’t waste your money! Not the same upscale spa it used to be. The 99 cent suave hair product in the shower room was a joke. The spa used to be so classy.
The worst spa experience I ever had! I had a 50 minute lavender scrub there today. The scrub and lotions used were all cold. The application was not relaxing at all. And to top it off, they had no hot water! I had to take a cold shower to wash off the scrub in the middle of the winter. I have had scrubs in several other spas and this was not comparable at all. The products did not feel premium and were not explained either. I conveyed my concerns at check out. They did apply 10% off but did not apologize or seem to really care. I’m so surprised they wouldn’t disclose that they were having a problem with the water before I started the service. I would have rescheduled. I went with a friend and was interesting that she received a text to give feedback but I did not. Hhmmm.I will never return and could never recommend to anyone.
Valerie did an amazing job on my pedicure! It was relaxing and I loved how my toes came out. The Fountain is clean, quiet, and all around a great place for manicures and pedicures.
Valerie did my pedicure. She was great but there was nothing special about this pedicure. The pedicure i get at my local nail salon is much cheaper and far much better. The condition and cleanliness of the spa was lackluster. I have been to WoodHouse Spa recently and expected this spa to be at the same clean standard. The rugs looked dingy and dirty. The floor in the bathrooms were black.Cecilia my facialist continued to ask me about upgrading. I finally agreed. She was aggressive with her touches and her use of tools. This was not a relaxing experience, it felt very rushed. Her touches were not gentle, she was abrasive, and when she was using the machine on my face i felt like she was slamming it on my face. Then when she moved her hands from my face she would hit the top of the bed hard. This caused me to leave with a headache.
Loved my massage with Jill and the steam room and showers were excellent. The woman at the hospitality desk was also wonderful. My only complaint is there were big posters advertising treatments in the relaxation room. I know it’s a business but it felt really tacky, cheap, and not relaxing to stare at advertisements trying to upsell me when I’m already spending hundreds on a massage. Other high-end spas don’t do that, but maybe this isn’t a high end spa, after all?
The spa needs a makeover. It gives 80’s vibes. I scheduled a whirlpool bath for me and my husband and was told it would be 20$ plus an extra 15 for both of us. Was charged 72$ for it. Called and they said sorry you were given the wrong price but it’s 36$ pp. would have never booked at that price. Somehow I was charged an extra 15$ for an upgrade on my massage and wasn’t aware til checkout. 72$ for a bath is ridiculous so be aware. I dropped 600+ for me and my husband and honestly wasn’t that impressed. The steam in the ladies lounge wasn’t working so I couldn’t even do a steam. Was there from 12-4 and they don’t even offer lunch anymore and my checkout experience is another review. The girl had an attitude. Honestly worst experience.
Justyna is a master aesthetician !She is so professional I really felt like I was in great hands! My skin never looked better !
Went here on my birthday and was treated to a whirlpool bath, a relaxing pedicure, and a 50 minute massage. I am embarrassed to say I forgot the two girls names that performed my services but they were so nice. This location is a little hard to get to if you don’t know your way to the underground parking garage. It is smaller than the location in Ramsey but easier to the fact that everything is on one floor.
I came here with my two sisters and I will never forget the service we had today. They not only gave us great mani pedis, but they knew my sister was stressed about her wedding in two days, and they went above and beyond to talk her through it and make sure she felt comfortable. Valerie in particular noticed that my sister was not happy with the manicure another place did for her, and offered to add stuff to it when it was almost time to go. She completely made my sisters day and for that we are grateful. I will never go anywhere else.
Been going to this elegant and extraordinary spa since 2006. The elegance and atmosphere are superb! I love the showers and amenities they provide and have been visiting on a regular basis.
For being a Bergen county resident my entire life this is all I’ve really heard of in terms of a spa that you can reset, relax, even drink tea and enjoy a little snack at. My most recent appointment I was running 5-10 minutes late but the front desk worked with me, and I was able to get my facial with long running employee Jodie. Locker rooms to store your things, a robe and slippers are given I believe every time. The highlight for me was the nail salon, best manicure i think I’ve ever had! They were good with the fact that I don’t allow cutting my nails, so they filed every nail the same shape and all evenly but the nail polishes all seem new, lots of colors, and I believe they’ll even do designs! very happy with my last visit!
Service is great. Amazing experience. The receptionist Emily is very nice. Everyone there is good at their jobs. It’s my favorite spa to go to.
It’s not as comprehensive of a spa as other places, but it’s clean and relaxing. I went to Hackensack location, got a massage and spa pedicure. The massage was awful and a waste of money. All she did was lather an absurd amount of oil on my body in a half-hazard way which was not relaxing at all. I couldn’t wait for it to be over. I decided to add an essential oil, which I thought she would mix in to the rest of the oil. Idk what she did but it was so overpowering that I could barely breath. I think she just put some on the towel next to my head. I couldn’t wait for it to be over. I expressed by disappointment to the manager and we worked something out that made me feel better. If you get a massage there, I recommend reading the comments for a recommendation of someone specific. The spa pedicure was amazing and I’d go back for another, just not a massage.
The overall experience was pretty good, but there are minor issues. The lady who directs people to the lounge and treatment areas spoke too fast to a point that I was confused. It did not feel welcoming or relaxing at all. They also failed to mention how long each treatment was, there was lack of direction all around so I was sitting around waiting and wondering when my next treatment is. During this time, I had no service and the wifi was not available to clients. Lastly, I took a shower after all my treatments were finished, and hot water was on and off. I had to step out of the shower and wait for hot water to come back. For the price that I paid, I expected better service.
Couldn’t have had a worse experience before my wedding. Customer service and management is awful. Avoid at all costs. I was running 10 minutes late said that on the phone Maria said okay no problem see you then I get there and they said they can’t provide the service when I called the manager she was under the impression I had the wax. Lazy incompontent people at its finest thanks for ruining my relaxing day before the weddding
The massage for Rendezvous for two was sooo amazing. Martha has a great hand for massages, totally recommend her. I would go back but not for awhile, just wish it was a little less expensive or had some type of discounts available. Unfortunately not everyone can afford this, it can be a luxury. If you have the means and are able to do it without getting into debt, give it a try. Your body does need to de-stress and relax.
Bad experience and havent stepped foot in the place. I booked a pre-natal massage at 38 weeks pregnant. They called to cancel and asked if i wanted to reschedule. I rescheduled which put me at 39 weeks pregnant and AGAIN they called to cancel my appointment. I reached out to their customer service team and didnt hear back. Very disappointing**update** the manager reached out to me and once my doctor cleared me I was able to enjoy a Spa Day. The manager was helpful and booked me immediately
I’ve been to this spa countless times and love the experience each time. They also keep a record of who your previous masseuse was so you can remember who to go next time. It’s clean and orderly and gives you a home away from home feeling. They provide nice beverages and snacks in the waiting room area.Tip: when you get a massage, don’t be afraid to tell them more/less pressure, etc. Communication is key.
My facial with Brianna was fantastic. Unfortunately, I can’t rate with 5 starts. The Foundation Spa does not have the same quality service as before. The service provided at the tranquility room is not the same. The quality of snacks & drinks being offered is very low quality. I feel that for the price clients pay here the service needs to go back to what it was before. I received a cover up & a robe three times my size. . I always looked forward to my visits at the Spa, but that feeling hasn’t been there the last few times that I’ve visited.
I schedule a massage for my fiances birthday and while he arrived on time, it was his first time coming to this location and he didn’t realize where he was supposed to go (I also didn’t know). He called the front desk to let them know he wasn’t late and that he just didn’t know how to get in. He shared they were super helpful and they directed him where to go. They told him it was still okay to come for his service, but failed to mention his service would be cut short (which we understand, but it wasn’t communicated and/or wasn’t given an option to come a different day).He called me after his service and told me it was cut short. He went into the room at about 12:15 and was done by 12:50. His masseuse said he was late and they were booked. I had called the front desk staff just to let them know it wasn’t communicated at all that his service was cut short and we were disappointed, but whoever I spoke to was simply telling me what she would have said to him on the phone and how she would have handled the situation. I understand the frustration when someone may not handle a situation appropriately and you have to be the one taking a phone call like this, but it was just rude and I wasn’t asking for a discount or being demanding, just expressing the lack of communication. I had to unfortunately just be blunt and state that you don’t argue with me about what you would do and I was just asking her to listen to my concern. She transferred me to the department to process my payment for the service and whoever I spoke to was very helpful. The process was quick and easy.We would, however, not come back here due to poor communication & lack of accountability for that. My fiancé said he felt it was a low end massage experience for a high end price.
Kelly was terrible. She rushed my pedicure and it was not worth the price.Definitely ask for Melanie or Jin, they were soo much better!
Diane is an amazing nail specialist; gentle, calm, quiet, great massage. I recommend this location over the Ramsey location. Ramsey does not provide quality service for the price like Riverside does!
I had a very nice experience with them from A to Z ( Hackensack location )Easy to check in , nice hospitality, friendly staff ,very clean. Ashly was my massage therapist , I highly recommend her and the place itself too.Thank you Fountain Spa for your great service.
Beautiful spa for men, women, and whatever else. Mens locker room is huge with a sauna. Messages are very good and be sure to check out the couples hot tub.
I felt relaxed the moment I walked into the Spa. I was greeted by friendly, knowledgeable front-of-house staff that set the mood for my relaxing afternoon. I was provided with a clean robe and slippers, and really enjoyed the Women’s locker room and lounge (the fruit flavored water and chocolate biscuits, although small treats, made me really feel like I was someone special!) I received a custom comfort massage, by Crystal. It was an hour of heaven, I left feeling like a new woman!I was just a bit disappointed that the steam room was out of order when I went. I wish there was some way I could have been provided with like a “come back for a steam when its running again” credit, because I was looking forward to sitting in the steam room almost as much as I was looking forward to my massage. If you plan to go in the near future, I would inquire about the status of the steam room before following through with your appointment on that specific day.Overall, it was a great experience. I will definitely be back, just when I can also access the steam room in addition to my spa services!
I do not recommend the fountain spa. My husband and I bought a rendezvous for two package and were extremely disappointed. First, we did not even have our couples massage in the same room. But more importantly it was the worst massage I’ve ever had. I never even thought a massage could be bad, but I couldn’t wait for this massage to be over. It felt like my 3 year old daughter was just slathering sunscreen lotion on my back. I was really disappointed. It did not feel good and was not relaxing. Lastly, the masseuse told us that we had the deluxe package which included heat packs. They were extremely hot and made met sweat during the massage. Shortly after she places them I asked the masseuse not to use them because they were so uncomfortable and was making the massage even worse. Then when we went to pay they said we did not have the deluxe package (even though the masseuse told us we did and it’s not something we asked for) and were insisting we pay for it. We felt tricked. This spa is definitely not worth spending your money and be careful they do not scam you into getting add ons that you do not want. I informed the spa about my concerns and was told a supervisor would call me, however no one ever followed up. We are very disappointed with our entire experience here.
It was a beautiful relaxing experience ,Judith did a great job with my face ,I recomended highly
Love this spa! My family takes trips there together and get a nice girls day out. The workers were so polite and catered to my every need! I loved it! And Im going back in a couple of weeks! I give it 5 stars only because the women as the front desk are never really too friendly or great you with a nice smile. However, the rest of the staff is great!
Best facial I have received! Wonderful care and attention paid to my needs. Very relaxing. Top quality facilities and very serene. Cant wait to return!
I’ve been coming to this Fountain Spa in Riverside mall for years but today was the best visit yet! Jenny G was AMAZING with my pink Himalayan salt massage! She used the Perfect pressure and knew the right spots to target! Definitely one of the bests!
Weve been here several times and always get treated like royalty. The food is great and my daughter loves the sauna. The nail salon is cool. I would only recommend that they add some updates, as it is starting to look dated like something out of the 70s or 80s.
I had been preparing myself for an old outdated place based on the reviews but I was very pleasantly surprised. It’s well kept and clean. The staff was very helpful and polite. The whirlpool bath was relaxing and then I enjoyed my stress relief massage with Jackie. Definitely will return.
I booked the Iluma facial...the receptionist suggested I arrive early to take advantage of the steam room; which was so relaxing. Angelika was my technician and she was wonderful. My skin looked and felt so wonderful. The lounge was well stocked with refreshments...a very relaxing spa. And immaculately clean!
This was my first visit to The Fountain Spa, but it wont be my last! The facility is clean, the staff is pleasant, the waiting room offered snacks, and the aesthetician who gave me a facial was friendly and efficient. Appointment time was honored, which means clients time is respected. My experience was a positive one on every level.
Poor organization. We booked a couple room stretch massage 3 weeks in advance. We didnt get any text/email confirmation and had to call the day of the booking to check if our booking is actually there. When we got to the place, our request for a couple room was completely disregarded and we were offered separate rooms. Also apparently stretch massage is done in clothing. As it was our first time, we didnt know that and that was not clearly communicated in advance. All in all we wasted an hour of our time and left without doing anything.
As always an amazing experience at the Fountain in Hackensack. I had a full day that included a whirlpool bath, massage, facial, lunch and a pedicure. Staff is amazing and overall experience was great. Next time I will skip lunch though as it was not great, but everything else was so well worth it!
The service and amenities at The Fountain are truly lacking lately. My husband sent me here for the day as a surprise for my birthday. I usually go prepared with change of clothes, toiletries etc. but this was a surprise treat and I had no knowledge beforehand. My massage was nice and enjoyed a whirlpool and lunch. However, was beyond disappointed at the end of my services. I was looking forward to a steam and a long hot shower then getting dressed and blow dry my hair. when I asked the girls the desk for some facial moisturizer after explaining my surprise gift one immediately said no without even looking or inquiring further. A second girl came back and said what were u looking for I told her she went to see if she had samples and came back and said no sorry. This is a day spa that specializes in facials and no one could get me a small sample or squirt of moisturizer?! I should mention I have been going to the fountain since 2010 and have accumulated over 25 visits per my service card. I also did the spa membership for 2 years. Very disappointing for a long term client. My check out was another issue. My husband had indicated he took care of everything-service and gratuity over the phone when he booked. I informed the cashier of this and she said well we dont keep cards on file so he couldnt have possibly paid. At that point I was annoyed, trued to reach my husband and just whipped out my own card before she says oh wait I see notes here he bought a gift card and its on file. He took care of everything. Didnt you just say that was impossible? Wouldnt you check that first after I indicate the situation? Overall very disappointed as this was my go to place for a day of pampering alone at least 3-4x a year. Ill be looking for somewhere else to enjoy.
This is my second time here and I would like to return several times over. The second time I went with my husband as we had a gift certificate for a deluxe rendezvous for two; this includes a private whirlpool and side by side massage. The private room for the whirlpool is great and calming which gave my husband and I time to unwind and relax our tense muscles. The whirlpool has settings to make it cooler or warmer. Then we were able to have time in the tranquility room to rehydrate and have fruit or light cookies. The deluxe Swedish massage that followed was perfect. As a physical therapist myself, I needed someone who was a little aggressive on my muscles and Crystal delivered. Great hands! Overall excellent experience!
My experience with the fountain spa is an unfortunate one. Due to unforeseeable circumstances I wasnt able to use my gift certificate in a timely manner. However when reaching out to the management company their response was a negative one. I was told that my gift certificate was no longer valid. My response to that is you are nothing but thieves.
I came here a week before I was to attend a friends wedding. I got the hydramemory facial, and I loved it! It was so relaxing, and it helped moisture my dry skin. I felt so radiant afterwords. I really want to come back to get the deep tissue massage. The staff here is so lovely, and they care for my every need. They even leave drinks and snacks out!
I love my masseuse but I think they should require all their staff to be vaccinated. Mine was and he had no problem letting me know. He even said that everyone should be vaccinated. Wont go back until the policy is changed. They are after all, touching our bodies.
I had a wonderful experience with Jao, who was so knowledgeable, experienced and kind. I was hesitant to go back to the Fountain Spa, as I have been going for years, and had unfortunately had very bad massages & customer service, but was cleaning up and found a gift certificate. So, with minimal exceptions I went, knowing that at least it was always clean and had great showers. But, Jao was remarkable! His massage has actually made me want to consider going back! The Fountain spa has a real gem with him! And the young lady, Jessica, who checked me out allowed the feeling of serenity to continue my experience. Thank you!
Took my cousin there before her wedding, she got had the Brides Special Day package and I had the Mom To Be package. Both of us were happy with the service we received. The prices at a bit high, but once in a blue moon, its a nice splurge on some relaxation.
Staff is very professional and attentive. Service is always good. They really know how to make you feel good. Massages are good and so are the facials. Spa is well kept and its always clean. The staff takes their times in delivering an upscale luxury memorable spa experience.
We come here every year for our anniversary. We are always treated like royalty and our experience never waivers. We like this location a lot more than the Ramsey one. It is a little pricey but its a full spa experience, not just a massage.
Very disappointed to have purchased gift cards, and when the gift recipients called to make their reservations, they were told they needed to provide their credit card in order to hold the reservation. When I called to explain to the manager how this was disappointing, given that the services were already paid for, she was inflexible and offered to forward me to the voicemail of her VP. This type of flippant, response is not representative of the customer service I’m accustomed to. The spa was so concerned with making the gifting process accessible and seamless, that they even offered to collect gratuity in advance. I certainly didn’t want my gift recipients to have to provide their own credit card. Certainly, they could offer to look up the gift card information, which should suffice to “hold” a reservation. Also, when pressed with the question of “why” they need the credit card, no reason was provided, other than “it’s just our policy.” She said in the case of habitual cancellations, they “may or may not” charge a fee, and explained that they keep the cards on file for future use if that becomes necessary.I am very alarmed to learn that the Fountain Spa maintains a database of personal credit card information from all guests. This is very different than credit card payments, which are automatically processed, and numbers are not kept by retailers. This is a major privacy issue. This, ladies, exactly how credit card fraud and identity theft takes place. In fact, I question the legality of this policy. I’ll not be purchasing gifts from here again.
Very disappointed at this place. I said let me try this place with a lot of good reviews to do my pedicure so I made a walk-in apt. The lady saw me that I was with my daughter and made me wait 45 mins to then tell me with attitude that kid are not allowed to go in. I did not appreciate the attitude and the lack of courtesy in informing me about their policy in regards to children. I walked in with my child so that would have been the best moment to inform me and not waste my time. Very fancy place but the lady there needs much improvement in customer service. I didn’t appreciate the attitude Especially in front of my child.
The environment was clean, and the staff were friendly. Upon entering, I started to feel extremely relaxed. I would definitely book with them again.
The Fountain Spa in Hackensack is professional and clean. Ive been there a dozen times over the past 5 years. Its a comfort to know you can come here to be pampered and they know what they are doing. The staff is wonderful and any masseuse here will leave you feeling brand new.
I am a regular Fountain Spa client, going for mani/pedi on a bi-weekly basis with waxing every 3-4 weeks, so this review is not related to the services but rather the lack of professionalism and perceived bias of the front desk staff who handles payment. I just left the spa and happened to downgrade my manicure. The check out attendant needed to validate this with my manicurist. Why would I lie about the type of manicure I received? Is it really to save $15? As a regular client, I was HIGHLY OFFENDED and could not help but wonder if she only required validation bc Im an African-American client. Staff needs to be better trained.
I was satisfied with the service, but salon can use some updating, I would say a lot. When you go to spa&salon, you expect nice relaxing atmosphere... The celling is so old I couldnt help myself during hair wash it was just at my face and very cheap lighting.... I would say style of 80. This complain is more for managers/owners. I really wish you would have nice relaxing atmosphere like an upscale salon, especially if the prices are not form the 80th. Like I said the service was ok, but I would not go back.
Always love a massage @ The Fountain. Locker rooms are always very clean and having the option of a steam or sauna before or after is also very nice. I do wish the seating in the Tranquility Room was more comfortable.
Mindfulness and wellness may be recent buzz words but The Fountain has always been aware of their value. Relax and pamper yourself. Service is professional and friendly. Facilities are kept clean. I wish I could afford to go more often!
Amazing experience. Everyone made me feel comfortable and welcome. The Mineral Body Mud Masque, Hot Stone Massage and Facial were gifts that melted stress away. I left the spa feeling a sense of renewal.
UPDATE: I am happy to say Maureen called me and was very apologetic and accommodating, reassuring me that customer service is very important to them. I am relieved I dont have to find a new spa 😊 Thank you, Maureen!Im saddened to give this review. I have been a loyal customer of the Fountain for years. Ive spent a lot of money there. This past visit, I splurged on the Ultimate Fountain facial which is supposed to be 80 minutes long. I added on a lip and eyebrow wax. Not only did the facial run over and I had dinner reservations, but the woman left me on the table with the collagen mask and eye patches and my hands in parafin and heat gloves for at least 15 minutes. I was yelling out HELLO and no one answered. Finally I had to get up, find someone, to go find my facialist. I was contacted the next day to discuss what happened but was unable to answer. I called back 3 times but the woman who called me was never there. So I finally got routed to Maureen, who is in charge of the Ramsey location, left a message, and no one ever called me back. Suffice to say, I wont be returning. The 2nd star is only because my 2 hour massage/reflexology was heaven, as usual. Sigh.
Had the most relaxing and calming experience! It was my first time going to a spa and everything about The Fountain Spa was wonderful including the staff, the decor, the ambiance and especially my masseuse Roberta! I cant wait to go back!
Used the gift certificate my husband got me to book a massage. Called last week and was on hold for awhile. I used the call-back option and the receptionist called back in less than 10 minutes. There were no issues with the booking process. The check-in process was smooth (once you find the Spa which is located on the lower level of the Mall), the ladies were very nice. The locker room was clean and secure. They use a key-less locker system and the attendant was very helpful. The Tranquility Room was a little out-dated which was why I give The Fountain Spa 4 Stars instead of 5. Ive been to a few Spas in the Caribbean and Mexico that were 4 and 5 Stars with better Relaxation Rooms. They had a choice of ice-tea, lemon water, or hot tea with a variety of flavored teabags. There were also little muffins to choose from. They start their appointments on time which was surprising because they were super busy.I had Joao as my masseuse and he was very friendly. He asked if I had any recent injuries or any areas that he needed to avoid. His hands were MAGIC. Ive had a lot of lower back pain and I felt like I was floating on a cloud after he was finished. I enjoyed the steam room and the showers afterwards.Definitely going to request Joao the next time I book a massage!!
My last two trips to the Fountain were less than stellar. At the first one the masseuse was late and when she brought me to the room was fiddling with her phone and getting things ready. The quality of the massage itself was not what I was used to from the Fountain. When I received an e-mail request to rate the fountain I e-mailed them directly to tell them of my dissatisfaction instead of putting it out there to the public. I then received a call from someone at the fountain and he offered me 20% off on my next service. I told him I already had an appointment for the next week and he said he would flag my account so I would get the discount. My next trip was for waxing and a mani/pedi. They took me 15 minutes late and the waxing room looked like a rock band had a party in there. It was disgusting. The woman told me she did not have time to clean up. I cancelled this service. The mani and pedi were great. When I went to pay the 20% was not taken off my bill.I have been coming to the Fountain for a long long time and I hope that they go back to their old standards
I received a terrific massage, however I was disappointed he was not allowed to use any heat packs due to Covid, which I was not made aware of. They did tell me when booking, I would not be able to use the steam room, showers or tranquility room. You don’t get the full experience, but you do get the full price... I should’ve waited.
TL;DR: waste of money 💰Extremely disappointed in this place. For the amount of money ($145.60) spent on what was supposed to be a 60-minute massage, was a complete waste.Requested the massage to be focused on the lower back, and it wasn’t even touched throughout the time. Speaking of, the massage was less than 40 minutes long. Why do you advertise for 60, when it’s less than that? Your prices are way too high and I’ll never recommend this place. We won’t be coming back here ever again.
Ill start this off by saying I usually go to Beyond Spa at Hackensack hospital which blows this out of the water for many reasons but it was a Sunday I needed massage after waking up with a stiff neck. I settled for the fountain not realizing how much I was actually settling. I payed $120 for a 50 minute massage what I got was a women gliding her fingers across my body even after I told her to apply more pressure ! I could of had my husband do that for free. With that being said I called the fountain took them over a week to get back to me and the supervisor offered me 20% off my next massage I guess she didnt hear me say I would never go back !!! If your looking for an amazing Spa and and amazing staff Go to Beyond Spa at the Hackensack hospital it is amazing !!!! This place is over rated and has no idea about cuteromer service and I never complain about anything never wrote a review so for me to go this far trust me it was that bad
The owner is so rude. I guess that is why the staff is rude. I went here many many times. I was never late. I always tipped well. The last straw was when I tried to make a reservation with a new employee who refused unless I gave her my credit card in advance. I never was asked that in 10 years there. I spoke with owner who told me that she didnt care if I ever came back because she was very successful . Go someplace else
I should put zero stars. The Fountain Spa used to be my favorite place to go growing up. I won a gift certificate a few years back at a Charity event, and am now back in town and they refuse to honor it as time has gone by. I sat on the phone with multiple receptionists at both locations being extremely rude to me, not transferring me to managers, having me email photos of my gift certificate and yet not do anything with it to try and get rid of me. Sad that they wont honor something that was won for charitable causes, and sad to treat people like this is general. I guess I will have to find a new spa when I return to my hometown.
I went in to purchase a gift certificate. The 2 young ladies sitting behind the desk on the right as you walk in were very professional, soothing and beautiful. They were also very sweet, friendly and helpful to one another. They are an asset to the Fountain Spa brand.
I was going to book, but I was having an issue with the website so I decided to call. I didnt go through with the booking because the receptionist was rude and curt. If thats who you have as your initial representative then what is the rest of your facility like?
Angelica added to my facial on her own without asking me leaving me with a balance after I booked my services according to my gift card. Awful to deceive people.
This was my first experience with this spa.Check-in: the woman was nice however had a difficult time finding my ticket for services bc there were multiple people coming in at the same time with my name. Shouldnt be that difficult especially when you booked two parties each for an almost $350 of services. But, things happen and it was all resolved quickly.Locker room and tranquility area: cramped and dated. For the money and the location, I would have expected more. Beyond Spa blows this away.I booked a spa package, I thought since its advertised as a package there is some discount bc of the number of services. Nope, you pay every dollar for every service down to the $12 spa lunch.Massage: I did the hot stone, It was great and I would recommend. This is what saved the review.Facial: I left the room with mask still in my hair and remnants of it on my face. This was the most expensive of the services and I was shocked to leave the room a mess.Lunch: awful and they gave us an hour to eat a sandwich . Pass on this not worth it. Eat at the mall, really anywhere the food was terrible.Manicure pedicure: this is where the visit totally went downhill. I had the same person for both services. Bc this person did not know reflexology, I had to settle for the only pedicure she knew which was the spa pedicure. Thank god bc I would have been even more upset to have spent 15 extra dollars. The polish was not totally removed from my toes. She clipped my nails so short they hurt. Mind you I was not asked how short or long I wanted them. Filing, most of my nails were filed unevenly. To the point when I got home, I had to file them to look better. Next the manicure, all was average until the cuticles. She was pushing them so hard, two of my fingers stared to bleed. She didnt say sorry then scrambled for some liquid and squirted on my fingers. Instead of cleaning my fingers prior to prep for the quick dry polish. She applied the prep liquid which burned the open wounds. I then asked if I could wash my hands bc I had crusted blood on two fingers and it appeared she was just going to paint over it. She seemed perplexed. Y my request and then this happens....., She said this may sound crazy are you done drinking your water. I said yes, she likes do you mind if I use the water. I was like huh, she took a cotton ball and dipped in my drinking water and then cleaned my bloody fingers. I couldnt believe it......Again uneven nails, never asked what shape and polish is better on some fingers then others. Then I was asked if I want to keep the buffer and nail file bc they dont reuse due to germs. She dropped my file on the floor, picked it up and bagged it for me to take home. All in all, not the best experience and not likely to come back. I am not a picky person, nor do I make many reviews. But as a hard working person, who put money aside to come to this spa day with her friend, this was not worth it.
All of the people and services are so lovely! I wish there was some quiet music playing in the tranquillity room, I had some time between treatments and the pump on the water feature got a bit loud at times.
I have been to numerous spas throughout the US and the Caribbean and this spa is by far the worst. There were two representatives at the front check in and they were the most condescending and ill mannered. The older one in particular had no personally and no people/costumer service quality at all. My group made reservations for 5, upon getting there, they changed our reservation to 4. To make up, they asked if anyone in our party would settle with a mani and a pedi, which we opt for. Only she received her mani, but their according to the lady at check out, thier computer did not register a mani and a pedi, even after she waited over 40 minutes. I had the Deep sea paraffin wrap and add the lymphatic drainage. I have had this treatment a number of time, but at the fountain it was done in 30 mins. My entire treatment was done half a**ed. I honestly could have gone to Massage Envy, spend far less and got way better treatment. At the register while paying for our service, my family and I asked about the non pedi, and we were told they would look into. They actually ask for our numbers so they could call after they investigate. AKA- they already got paid for horrible service, so they are done with us. I cant even say it was only our group, as we were not the only people on the receiving end of their bad service.Though I will admit that it is a nice nice facility, I will not go back and I do not recommend it to anyone. Not until they restructure their staff and properly train them in customer service.
The Fountain Spa in Riverside NJ is five minutes away from my house in Teaneck. I have been going there for over eight years and I absolutely enjoy everything from the private whirlpool, facial, massage, steam-room, sauna, body-scrub to just simple walking into the place. The vibes says welcome
I think I came out worse than when I went in. Take a damp towel, lay it out on your kitchen floor, lie face down and have a stranger press on your back with an ice-cold meat tenderizer for 10 minutes--that is the closest approximation of my massage experience at this spa.Granted, this glorified master bathroom is located in The Shops at Riverside. So its kind of understood that unless you can vomit diamonds on command, you wont be taken seriously as a customer. My suggestion to the owner: lose the bougie receptionists and put up a giant sign that reads, Go away, peasants. Just as effective.
I read the reviews on here, but since many were from a while ago I gave it a chance. Do not waste your money going here! The service is curt and unfriendly and the facility is just ok. I treated my friend for her birthday and we were both very disappointed with our massages. In addition, we were both shortchanged with time and they refused to acknowledge that was the case. Very disappointing!
This was my first time at The Fountain. I had a wonderful massage and everyone was very professional. It was impressive and I felt like a celebrity. I am very relaxed now!
I love this spa! It does seem to have gone down a bit over the years, the lockers in the women’s changing room are constantly breaking. The massages are always amazing though and that’s what I’m really paying for. Otherwise it seems very clean and prices are pretty good.
Had an AMAZING microdermabrasion facial with Justyna but the reason I am posting with a 1 star is because of the multiple WORMS that I encountered while in the shower. I was looking forward to using the steam room but beforehand I wanted to take a shower. I step into the shower and turn the water on and notice tiny black things moving away from the water. I look closer and they are WORMS!!! I wanted to get out right away and didn’t even bother going into the steam room. For the prices of the facials the women’s room should be in tip top shape and I am highly disappointed and most likely not returning. It’s unfortunate because like I said my facial with Justyna was amazing but I left with a terrible taste in my mouth.
I had a fabulous facial, but a horrible checkout experience. My grandmother and I were each given gifts for facials--fully paid for and pre-tiped. We relinquished our giftcards at check-in without a problem and then went on to have great facial experiences. Imagine our surprise at check-out when an employee, Cheryl, told us that our facials were only partially covered by the giftcard. When I told her that this could not be the case ans surely must be a mistake, she was incredibly rude, indignant, and dismissive toward me. There is just no excuse for this and Ive never had such a horrible customer service experience in my life. Another employee (I didnt catch her name) then checked the computer, promptly realized there was a mistake, and fixed it. Cheryl never even apologized or owned up to the fact that it was, in fact, her mistake. She simply uttered we made it work and implied that they comped the service which they DID NOT. It was a ploy to cover up the fact that she now felt like a complete idiot. This is totally unacceptable and a complete insult to the person who spent hundreds of dollars purchasing the gift for us.I honestly wonder if this employee (Cheryl) is running some kind of scam that preys on gift recipients who dont know any better than to assume that their service really isnt fully paid for; thus, subsequently handing over their credit cards. Such a shame that one person can bring down an otherwise wonderful establishment. All in all, It was a mortifying experience. Knowing how my recipient will be treated, I would never purchase a gift-card here. Perhaps the Ramsey location has a more pleasant check-out employee who wouldnt spoil my peace and tranquility on the way out.
I always have a pleasant experience while at the Spa. I stopped going to the local nail salons that were less expensive because they were more like mills than salons. Whether Im having a massage, a facial or a mani/pedi, I always leave the Spa feeling relaxed and rejuvenated.
I had a great experience for my facial and I felt safe. Justina was terrific. Although I miss the steam shower and tranquility room, I know we will be back soon enough.
I expected their nail salon to be cleaner than all the other nail salons out there but to my surprise and shock, they are far far behind on the cleanliness aspect. They ‘sanitize’ their instruments in a blue solution but they barely let those instruments soak in the solution before using them on another customer. They exfoliate your skin with an exfoliator that has been used on other customers and they say it was sanitized before. You don’t get to see if it was, in fact, sanitized and, in any event, how on earth can you sanitize an exfoliator that has deeply scrubbed someone else’s skin. There are disposable options, which most nail salons use these days, but not the Fountain Spa, believe it or not. To top it all, their pedicure bath is not lined with disposable plastic. They ‘sanitize’ the bath after each customer. How do they sanitize it? They spray, they wipe, and the next person’s feet are in. That can hardly be called cleaning not to mention sanitizing after someone else’s feet. Overall, the place was disappointing. The description of the manicure and pedicure services on their website does not match the actual service. Far from it. They make it appear as if they are better than the other nail salons but they are not.
I received a birthday spa day a couple of years ago. The place was amazingly beautiful. All the workers were very kind. So relaxing. Every woman should have a spa day. I am due for another.😊
Jenn gave me a great facial. And Stephanie applied a wonderful massage to my sore muscles. It is always a pleasure to be greeted by Rachael’s lovely smile and pleasant demeanor.
Honestly, over the past 1+ years, the staff has become less and less friendly. Almost like they do not enjoy what they do. For the amount you pay for their services, I would certainly expect staff members to go above and beyond to make you feel like you are at a top end spa. Not give you the sense they are frustrated and not happy to even be there.
My masseuse Kalea was absolutely AMAZING! She gave the best massage I’ve ever had and she was extremely friendly. She did everything to make sure I was fully accommodated. Thank you, Kalea!!
The massages by Joao and Renato are the best!! I brought a friend and she LOVED her massage. However, I have received 3 facials (regular and microdermabrasion). Huge disappointment. I tried different people also. The microdermabrasion was not cheap and the woman only went over areas of my face rather than the entire face. I get facials all the time, so I have a comparison. Expensive and all hype
Enjoyed the steam room before and after my deep tissue massage. Everyone is very friendly and this is my go to spa. Ive been coming to Fountain spa for years and have never been disappointed.
VERY warmth and VERY relaxing place to be. I felt very light after my massage. I love this place. It helps me to feel better after, since I have a problem of my back. The Swedish massage works for me the best.
I was given a $500.00 gift cert from my son for mothers day. I choose to use a portion of this with my daughter and daughter-in-law on 12/29/12. Unfortunately someone stole my diamond bracelet and necklace from the ladies locker room. I am heart broken because of the emotional connection. The bracelet was given to me by my now deceased husband over 25 years ago. I cannot believe that another woman would do this! To the person who did this, I know karma comes around. The heartache you have caused me will one day be yours.... two fold, I must say that the Spa staff was indifferent to this loss and totally disregarded my level of anxiety when I reported the jewelry missing. This is suppose to be a classy spa, however the moral compass of the clientle and staff displays anything but class!!
Good masseuse but because I chose a couples massage with my girlfriend it felt very robotic. I had several knots in my back, which she identified, tried to work them a bit but kept going instead of focusing on where I actually needed the massage
The most amazing experience. Its the perfect spa for girls day
Someone recommended this place, so my wife and I went to check it out. As soon as we walked in, the front desk personnel was so rude and condescendent. My wife just went to ask information. We would never go to a place where you get grief. A spa is supposed to be a place to relax from the stress and craziness of our daily life.
Went for a facial and had a relaxing and really nice experience. The Spa itself was soothing and welcoming. I am already thinking of making an appointment to go back.
It was amazing!!! The atmosphere and massage was sensual. It was me and my wifes anniversary and they helped making it a wonderful experience.
Idk what oil they use for massages but my entire body felt amazing after!! Definitely going back!
Very nice place. Christina did my massage. She was excellent. I definitely will bring my mother here with me next time!
The staff are very nice. They are very respectful of your privacy. Very clean and peaceful environment. I can’t wait for my next massage
Great experience for a higher end spa. Rivers, Stan rooms, slippers. Multiple amenities available including massage, manicure, pedicure, facials.

Had a fantastic time. Had a facial. The quiet room was not very quiet.
Wonderful massage and facial! Lovely facility.
Basias facials are wonderful. Thankfully, checkout has become more efficient and friendly, a notable improvement.
I went for a facial, the girl squeezed so hard my forehead that left an ugly mark and my forehead hurts like crazy. I love the place but I didn’t this time. Didn’t enjoy my time there at all👎🏼
Loved this place. Best facial spa experience I’ve had
Crazy good coffee scrub!! Highly recommend. Erica gives a killer swedish massage. Overall great experience but very expensive!! WORTH IT!!!!! 😍
The place looks promising but the service and the professional did nothing to be impressed. It felt like everyone did the minimum they could do. And I hed got the complete service.
