Wow I havent been to the Phantasy in many many years. Place looks a lot cleaner than it used to. Classic old Cleveland rock club. A place where theyre not afraid to crank up the PA system. Tonight I went to hear my friend Louis play his last gig with his original band Hot Ham and Cheese. The band sounds great. The place brings back a lot of fun memories. The ship is still there. When youre there you really never sit down because theres not tables and chairs. Everyone sort of meanders to the center of the room. The speakers are on the left and the right side and if youre standing in front of them it gets really loud. Hey...... its a rock club. Thats what they do. I have to admit, I always like the place, and I still do. I liked getting to see a new generation of people making rock music at a great old time Cleveland rock club. Keeping the traditions alive!!!
We saw Wage War, LMTF and Polaris here. Super fun show! Great stage and sound. Friendly staff. Nice bar. My only complaints were the line was crazy long because they didnt open on time and there is no one to answer the phone and answer questions. My suggestion would be at minimum, a voice recording, updated daily with info. We will be back. 🤘
Seeing circa survive was absolutely amazing. However, this place had no central air, in fact there was no air moving at all, their sound system cut out at least 10 times, their pos system was down and everything at the bar was cash for a flat $5, their drinks were the most watered down drinks Ive ever had in my life (I ordered a Jameson and gingerale and couldnt even taste either), the servers were rude, the bathroom was disgusting, and the place smells musty. Now all of this aside, the photo of the bathroom shows a little sign, on that sign it said the place has been going through a series of changes due to new management/owners, hopefully this is a one off and not how theyre treating their new business because it could be an awesome bar/club/venue.
Not my favorite show venue. Very hard to hear the vocalist from the back, couldnt tell if it was because the bands mix was bad or because of how the venue is set up. Drinks were quick, staff seemed very friendly
Ooof. I was hoping for it to be updated from the last time I was there 15 years ago. Sure, they added a bar and get great bands now, but still no ventilation in the building. It was so hot in there, I had to go outside for my asthmas sake and to throw up. I hope to hear that they find a way to cool it down in the near future.
Absolutely awful venue! Ever have the urge to stand in a sauna with a few hundred people fully clothed? No? Me either, but that’s exactly what a going to show here was like. No air conditioning and zero seating, by far the most miserable concert experience I’ve ever had!
Went once with a friend for his birthday. He had us all chip in to cover for it. The selections were weird. The atmosphere was okay, but the place felt really empty. The real problem was that the drinks and food were exorbitantly expensive to the point we didnt even want to order water. We ordered two fruit platters, but it was difficult to enjoy tart fruit when they wouldnt even give you free ice water to wash it down. Even ramen was RIDICULOUSLY expensive. I wish I still had my pix of the menu so you could see what I mean.Id say to sneak in drinks and snax if you think you can get away with it. Otherwise, just go to karaoke night at any bar or freestyle karaoke from YouTube at home. Itd be a way more relaxed atmosphere.
Place has no phone. Sent message to club through messanger and after receiving a reply got no response to any questions. Update... show was very good. Place had a good vibe and Cleveland folks were amazing...great people. Drink prices were good. It does get hot so dress light.Richard
La Dispute was incredible, but thats to be expected. The venue was dark, dank, poor sound quality, expensive drinks and parking sucked! I drove 2 hours for this??? Staff was at least partially friendly:)
The Phantasy is under new ownership, and speaking from a photographers perspective, I love the changes! It is still a very intimate concert Club, but now the lighting is greatly improved, and that makes a world of difference! The direction the new owners are going is great, and I hope the improvements keep coming!
Had a great time on my first visit at the Andy Black show! The sound was great for the whole show and the staff were super friendly. The bathrooms were good and clean. Nice place would definitely return!
My boyfriend had a concert back in April 2018 (Evil Lunsr Creatures) . The place was packed and so much fun!!! Great crowd, fun people The parking isnt fun on a very crowded night but Drug Mart closed early that night so we were all able to park there.
I wouldnt come in summer. Even in the winter, there is only 1 heater hangs from the ceiling and you only feel it in 1 spot on the floor. They turned it off at one point and i got colder. Other than that, its interesting.
The bar is cash only and the older male bartender is incapable of making a simple mixed drink. The sound for live shows is abhorrent. If youre Just going to hear a dj and drink beer youll probably be fine.
This is a great place to see bands up close. The atmosphere is fun. Some of the people there smelled funky, but it still deserves five stars.
This was my first time going to a concert in Cleveland. The venue is a decent size, boat is interesting. Overall experience was ok.
Such a sick place since under new management, definitely a positive change! Great shows and staff. I travel a lot and this is a primo spot. Super sick!
Yes, theyre still open! An awesome, reasonably priced place to see a show. Dimly lit, a bit Gothic and a lil haunted.
Okay venue. Drinks expensive including bottled water @ $2. Sound mixing needs work or bring a usb to load into their Behringer X32.
Venue is great. An iconic institution of the west side. Words cannot describe my affinity for this place. Find a band your interested in and check it out.
The staff is fantastic. The door girl is wonderful. Great venue with intimate atmosphere. Hate to see it go!
This place is pretty cool. Especially the decor inside. How ever if they are going to have security at the entrance they really should invest in a wond instead of patting people down
Ahhh. Just as I remember it from my first concert ever 32 years ago as I saw The Ramones! Great for the price but needs air flow because it got hot!
Shiver me timbers and ahoy. This is a great spot to catch a punk or metal show. The pirate themeing throughout adds an extra touch to the show.
It is nice & roomy & bathrooms are taken care of but they need more air circulationbecause it gets really warm. Also the bar needs to carry iced tea.
Great music. Wish they took credit cards. Atm machine has large fee. Beer/drinks pricey
Awesome I havent performed there in a few years but when the place is fully loaded plus the artists have great music it can be quite epic
Super great and creative venue, more than enough space for the crowds too. Great bars.
A cornerstone in the Cleveland music scene. If its still open make it a point to visit. Hopefully they have another Larry Szyms 80s music dance party.
Great little venue to see bands. Cash only bar, but not overpriced drinks.
It was a great place with no air conditioning and is soon to be demolished so, if you havent experienced it then you blew it
Awesome historic venue! Cash bar, friendly service, Im gonna miss this place!
Belphegor and Dark Funeral, live concert was awesome and I will definitely be back for another show.
75 degrees outside .. no air conditioning.. about 90+ degrees inside before band even started playing.
Cleveland landmark, I have watched a bunch of shows and also performed here. Cleveland music history spoken through stickers and markers off stage.
Went to the Vans Wapred tour after party and had a blast there!
Awesome music venue with friendly staff & a pirate ship inside!!
Good sound for shows. Usually an interesting crowd. Pirate ship is still there.
Closing soon, the Phantasy used to be a hub of the alternative dance scene in Cleveland. Losing it is like losing a piece of Cleveland history.
Had an AMAZING AWESOME TIME!!!!! Searmanas ROCKS!!!! Both pics are of me and my girl Searmanas!!!!!!!
Been attending concert/events here for nearly 3 decades! A staple of the Cleveland music scene.
Great little place to see amazing shows.
Many genres play in one night and thats what makes it so good
Did not live up to its advertisment and very very very costly to buy items
Awesome place to see great new bands...
Hasnt changed in over 30 yearsPeople go here for the entertainment, not the atmosphere.
Well was the last show ever ! Very hot no a.c. but oh well
Last night at the venue, the end of an amazing era.
Two stars for the two pirate ships in this dump. How about investing in two circulating fans you shitbirds.
Best sounding venue in Cleveland, love this place.
Great local music is on a come back!
This place was great would recommend to anyone in urban culture
Closing soon but the quintessential punk club
Legendary venue. Still needs A.C. though
Great vibe, not disability friendly.
Employee(s) take credit card details and go on shopping sprees.
As far as venues go, its ok.
Awesome venue. Awesome bartenders.
Small, intimate concert vibe.
Great staff. New management
4 stars, because its the end of an era.
Im gonna miss this place 😢
Holy Ship! :) great venue!
Sound is terrible....too pricy...
Creepy, crazy good time.
Pirate ship need i say more
IlIT HAS BEEN RESSURECTED
Low to non-existent crowd.
