This place is SUPER chill. Music was very across the board. Played mostly darkwave as opposed to goth rock. Everything else was an array of goth friendly genres. There was some songs that had industrial elements. People were actually dancing and the DJ seems to know whats liked among the locals. Staff were super nice. The bar was a bit crowded and we were too shy to wedge your way in but if you get there early you can. The dance floor was also crowded but that can work well bringing people together. Its such a cute place. You really have to go in and see it for yourself. Will be coming back next time Im in the area.

This is by far one of my favorite places in Rochester. I have been going on and off for almost 20 years now, it is the only Goth club in town and we are lucky that it happens to be a good one.It is one of the only places in Rochester with a real dance floor with mirrors and a stone pillar right in the center.Its a mood.

Nice environment. Patty is always incredibly pleasant. Only problem I have is that the security is low and I feel unsafe being there sometimes.

The entire vibe and atmosphere is negative and low vibrational. patty the owner and bartender on the 1st floor is attentive and has an amazing memory of names and drinks. she is always niceeric the bartender on the 2nd floor is kind and friendly. david crash is an an arrogant a-hole who acts like hes gods gift to the earth. he plays NO requests. which is fine if his general demeanor wasn’t i’m gods gift to the world in a venue where paint is peeling off the walls and it smells like cat piss but y know go off. hes the DJ that will yell at you on the dance floor and embarrass you (theres a previous review of this behavior) but ive also watched him do it. i have no idea why hes still there as he has no people skills and generally brings unease in a space where you should feel like you want to be there and feel welcomed.if a venue is literally falling apart but provides a safe and comfortable place for community most can ignore that it isnt ‘up to typical standards’ but to have employees who make the atmosphere hostile and uncomfortable on top of that is too. much. for years it felt safe and inclusive and now it feels the exact opposite. ps. everyone does coke in the bathroom.

Had a really great time here Friday night for a friend’s birthday. Super chill vibe with great customer service from the bar! This would absolutely be a 5 star review, except halfway through the night the DJ (very loudly and aggressively) yelled at a person in our group for being too loud. I would have understood if he had given us a warning of some sort (which we totally would have acknowledged), but he just stormed out onto the dance floor and very publicly yelled at us. It was super embarrassing and several other people on the floor were shocked and came up to ask if we were okay. We were all pretty disappointed and wound up leaving shortly after. I wish he would have politely and discreetly addressed the situation rather than yelling at us in the extremely disrespectful manner he did.

Air conditioned dance floor blowing your hair while lasers and fog and lights set the mood...this place makes you feel like youre in an 80s music video in the best way. One of the only places I have ever felt totally comfortable dancing. Plus theres a sweet little room where you can take a load off and watch your friends dance while still enjoying the atmosphere. Love this place.

Ive been going to Vertex for twenty years. Whether it has been a week or four years, Patty and Erik still remember your face and it still feels like home. Great drinks, interesting people, unique atmosphere, Vertex has a sense of inclusivity you wont find many places.

The host was very helpful and friendly. The bartender was amazing, super friendly and was a great guy to chat with! The atmosphere was great and the DJ had a wide variety of music and actually played requests! Wonderful clean and welcoming club, one of the best in Rochester.

Great place, welcoming to everyone. I lost my wallet there last weekend, someone turned it in and the DJ met up with me the next to return it to me. Decent priced bar and lots of comfortable spaces to dance or lounge around.

Best place Ive been to. DJ plays rock/techno type of music. Buffalo doesnt have anything like this. Everyone is nice. Not a typical night club where admission is arm and a leg, you have to fit in with the crowd, fights, etc.On a side note, covid needs to go away and dancing needs to be legalized again so we can do more than just eat & drink outside.

This place is awesome. Best drink specials in Rochester, and a very friendly environment regardless of the dark atmosphere. Perfect blend.The only bad review on this page is by Ben Gardner, but if you look at his other reviews, he seems to just choose companies at random and give them terrible reviews.

Great club. Everyone is very friendly, such a departure from other clubs in Rochester. No bros, no fake tans, no egos, no drama... $3 to get in, but the drinks are cheap and the bartenders are on their game. Excellent music on Friday and Saturday night. If you love New Wave and 80s dance music, Saturday nights with DJ Darkwave are a treat. Dance floor is fun and a non-judgment zone. Just have fun and do what you want. A bit removed from other bars/destinations, but well worth the walk!

Tasteful music and a come gentlemanly spirit of camaraderie. The pool tables were well-kempt unlike many of these places where ruffians break the equipment.

Vertex is like cheers for the alternative crowd. After you go a few times you get to know people and it is like a big family. It does not have that meat market creepy feel that some clubs have and you will see and meet all kinds of interesting people. If you arrive early there may not be many on the dance floor but by midnight it is crowded and the dance floor is full. It really is a place where you can be who you are and not feel awkward. The first reviewer on this page, ignore him and come find out for yourself. The owner is awesome, the club has a unique look and feel and the DJs and music are great. I love to dance and Friday has become my favorite night. DJ Energon will take requests and is like a priest of rhythm as he sends out the music. So if you really love to dance and want to dress up in anything from your jeans, to a complete goth outfit or even a chicken suit....Vertex is your place. I hope to see you there.

Excellent place. Good vibes, good drinks, good people, good music. If youre a punk, goth, raver, rivethead, etc... youll dig it. Dj Darkwave (steve) played KMFDM, Nine Inch Nails, and Depeche mode back to back. Dancefloor where people actually dance and dont just dry hump eachother. Will be returning soon for more good times. Dont ever change Vertex, you guys are the best 😊

It was 18 and up for the longest time Ive been going for almost 20 years . but when I went up the other day I was turned away because my sister in-law was 18. even though there pages and business reviews clearly still state 18 and up. My wife and I left very depressed and unhappy wasting our time

Arrived at 1:40 AM on Saturday, 11/2 at the end of a Friday night out. Still charging a $5 cover with about eight people in the entire place. Seemed odd for so late in the night. Probably should have decided to call it a night but we had friends on the way and gave it a shot. Adding to the curiosity of the $5 cover at 1:40 in the morning was learning its a cash only business.

OK, so maybe Im bias since Im a DJ there, but despite what the gentleman below has to say, Vertex is a great place to hang with a great bunch of people. Im not sure what his problem is (I love it when a review says more about the reviewer than it does about the place. Insecure much buddy?) Vertex is not always empty, Saturdays are especially busy, regularly pushing the 175-200 people mark. (A lot of people complain about it being too crowded in fact). But check it for yourself, keep an open mind and I bet youll enjoy yourself.

Ive always liked going to Vertex-IDOLS since an old friend introduced me to that community. Music is always awesome like back in the day DJ Robert G. Come as you are Havent been in a long time but twice since 2013. Im feeling the pulling though!!

Bars in this town area a dime a dozen but this one sometimes plays darker music.

Not 18 and up any more just 21+ was hoping to have a good evening with my girlfriend but was told they stiped do to covid still love the place guess we just have to wait 4 more months to come back

I found to Like this place after being able to see it for the first time, I felt like I was in my own home blasting all my favorite Rock music, metal, Dub, Electronica, etc... Awesome hidden corner chill place when stressed..
