Went here for my first time on 4th of July night. Cover was $10. Worth it for the great rooftop atmosphere, fun crowd and great music from the DJ. $10 Bacardi buckets are a great deal too. Only complaint I have is that the bartenders of the indoor bar were a little rude and disrespectful with attitude. There were at least 5 bartenders and it took them a while to get my attention for a drink. They constantly walked past me multiple times knowing that I was trying to get a drink and they were completely ignoring me right even after seeing me at the counter. They need to learn to be more attentive to their customers. When I finally got someones attention, I ordered a redbull vodka. Thought I was gonna pay between $10-15 but was charged almost $20 for it cause he made it a double which I never even asked for, and I think the automatic 20% gratuity charge is a little ridiculous especially if youre ignored multiple times and having to tolerate disrespect just to get a drink and still having to tip after getting bad service like that? Train your bartenders to do better and not ignore a customer right in front of their face when theyre not even serving anybody else. May or may not come back to this place because of the rude bartenders, but still give props for the good vibes crowd and atmosphere of the place.

It smelled like throw up when I was there & the music is all over the place. Some of the security are rude as well. I won’t be back, there’s definitely better clubs in tally.

Great location and a fun spot to grab some drinks. Someone always ends up in the pool.

Be weary when coming to this place. Look at the bad reviews and take them seriously. I came here with 5 friends, we booked a table and they kicked me out immediately for dancing on the chairs of the table we just bought. I told them I was sorry and that it wouldn’t happen again (any club I’ve ever been to it’s never been a problem to do this) they refused and kicked me out after we had just spent around $1000 on our table. Entitled white girls who run the show here, I will never be back lol. Go see how a club works literally anywhere else and maybe y’all will be humbled. Worst experience I’ve ever had especially when booking a table & spending that kind of money. Seems to be a trend here based on reviews tho.

Wow what isnt there to say about Recess? Its a fun loving exciting environment with lights and aesthetics that are perfect for a rooftop club. The staff is extremely friendly and if your lucky enough to get Frenchy as your bartender your drinks and experience will be unmatched! A great place to let loose with a bunch of friends and kick back a few drinks

Very good view but mediocre music. I appreciate a music which one can enjoy on its own, but this is not a type of music they play here at Recess. unless you have a partner to slow dance with.I would say if they have more different genres of music is much better. because this place has the potential to offer more than just slow hip hop and rap that you wont enjoy it unless you wanna grind on someone.

Love the atmosphere and vibe. Drinks are reasonable but you do automatically get charged 20% or more tip each time. I got two vodka cranberries and two shots of tequila on one trip and the vodka cranberries were $4 the tequila shots were $2 with tax and automatic tip my charge was $19.20.. the second trip to the bar for two vodka cranberries I had to buy two because $10 limit on card was $16.80. thats still comparable to other places so not a big deal. Just a heads up. The girls fee was also cheap $5 and the guys were $10.

Music could be better but it is an all around pretty exciting club. Friday nights are best because the pool is covered up and theres more dance floor. Its $5 for ladies 21 and up before 12am. Dont park in lots, you WILL get towed. Street parking is best or Sidebar.

I reserved a VIP booth last night for my birthday and after less than an hour (and $300 worth of bottles later) I was informed by the bottle girls that they had resold my booth and that I was going to be kicked out. The VIP manager refused to speak with me all night. The GM did an okay job at trying to resolve the situation but the fact of the matter is I spent over $300 to reserve a booth for the night and after less than an hour I was informed that I had to leave. It was completely unprofessional, bottle service was slow, service was poor, my money was not refunded, and I will never come back to this club again.

I love cess. Every night is a cess night. Especially when it’s free. Okay only when it’s free. The tequila could be better but that’s okay I come for the ambiance. The only thing that could make cess better—6 STARS IF YOU WISH—is an update to the pool design. A waterfall at the end maybe? Some tiles on the bottom to hide the trash? Love my midnight swims here though!

For 4th of July it was fairly packed. DJ Crespo had a nice set. The drink prices were nice and reasonable. Just be sure to bring cash or there is a $10 minimum for cards. No reentry so its a one shot for the night but worth it if you get there early.

I came here with 5 friends after a FSU game. We bought a table with a $1000 minimum and had a fine time.At the end of the night when it came time to pay my tab the attendant didnt like how I signed my signature and made me resign it to match my drivers license. Id signed my DL years ago on a screen at the DMV. After calmly making my best effort, she departed and would not return my credit card.I went into the back office and asked for the manager. He handed me a minimum of 3 copies of my check, demanding I sign each of them like my drivers license. I requested my American Express back from him and he refused and became confrontational. He said he was going to call the police if I didnt sign more copies of the receipt and I invited him to call them.At this point I said forget it and departed the building. I had to cancel my Platinum Amex and have another card sent to me.Ive never had such an experience at a restaurant or bar. I spent $1000 and was treated like a criminal, threatened, and refused to give me my credit card back. If you go to this establishment, know they dont value your business and I would suggest paying cash so they cant steal your credit card.

Got out bidded for a cabana for my daughter’s birthdays ? Where’s that policy written at ?

Incredible roof top bar with a perfect view of Doak Campbell stadium. Always clean, awesome staff, and I’ve never waited for more than a minute for my drink. Would definitely come here again.

Too expensive, 300$ for VIP (Just to get chairs to sit in) 300$ for two bottles of alcohol. Save your money, go buy a 20$ bottle of rum and a 15$ bottle of wine and sit on your back deck for less than a 1/10th the cost of what it costed us to celebrate a birthday here.Will never return, ever.If you are looking for somewhere to be where you cant hear anything and cant use the bathroom because its so packed then this is the place for you.

I reserved a table from Anita 2-3 weeks before the FSU Notre Dame Game. Our table minimum was $500 so I put a $100 deposit on the table. She reaches out to me the day of our reservation to confirm we would be there. I get a call/text shortly after that someone outbid our table and we needed to now spend a minimum of $1000. I said ok - an hour later - she texts again and said we got outbid and now need to spend $2000.This is not how you treat reservations. She claimed her owner created an outbidding “policy”. Loser!

Its always hot, packed, and the lay out of the club is terrible. You either choose to dance on the main floor which is completely filled with people, or you are in a main thoroughfare. There is no winning here. There are always people trying to get passed you, and 9/10 there is not enough room for the amount of people they let in.

Plays good music, fun . have good drink deals on certain days . but bouncers are kind of rude kicked my friend out for “disrespecting” one of the girls that worked there. preband starts at 8 and i’ve showed up at 7:30 everytime to get in for free and they move so slow that i end up paying every single time . there’s many bouncers standing around doing nothing that could be helping but don’t . very irritating . would be better if they could move lines quicker !!! giving a two because we had 4 mins left until pre band was over and they made us pay anyways .

My Brothers was kicked out of recess just because the bartender didnt like them. Discrimination is apart of this clubs policy!!!! They couldnt given them a valid reason as to why they were kicked out. They did NOTHING WRONG. no harm. They werent even overly intoxicated. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE. Midtown is where its At!

Security and event staff seem nice enough, but there is extremely poor communication going on with the actual event coordinating. No information or indication on the 4th of July event, that men had to be on the list in order to get inside.Seems like a nice enough location, but there are too many other places around the area to really recommend going here for big holidays to have fun.

Probably as classy as a Tallahassee club can get. Legitimately the only club in tally that doesnt have its own smell. The bartenders and quick and security is polite. They only have the best local DJs playing.

Last night i watched a girl get assaulted and multiple girls ended up yelling and cussing out this 30 year old man. A security guard saw this happening and then grabbed the girl that has been assaulted and said she needed to leave, instead of the man. The girls started cussing out the security guard saying he couldnt do that. He then proceeded to DAP UP the guy and laugh with him about the situation.

Regular here almost every weekend, i definitly like Recess and always convincing people to come by. Also get the occasional VIP. Only reason im not giving a 5 star is because last time i got VIP it took them almost an hour to bring out my order. There were no chasers nor cups brought out untill 20 minutes after that. I honestly didint even want my order anymore because it was so late in the night and people bought regular beverages already.

Very nice looking, but horrible service. Changed the entire theme and price of the event, no email blast, no radio announcement, nothing. Left to change, I literally live 5 minutes away, came back and the cover went up $15 bucks. For a corny techno DJ? No thanks.

I group purchased a cabana but when we arrived they were late to bring out drinks and brought the juice long before bringing out the bottles of alcohol. Poor service, and disrespectful staff. Would highly recommend going somewhere else.

The pool event for 4/21/16 was AWFUL. The pool was NOT even open (which is the ONLY reason I RSVP) and the promoter didnt even send out a change of plans email. He looked at me crazy when I tried to ask him why my homeboy couldnt come in ( he had a ticket too) because he was dressed in the attire the event had stated and had no clue of the change. I dont blame the guy for recess switching things up on him, but dont talk to your guest that took time out of their way to come crazy. PT 2 once we got in ( my homeboy went home) the place was blah, the security acted like they were FBI agents and the mood was off. Do better recess.

Thanks Alia and Lydia for being great at what you do. Thank you to the countless 19-22 year old girls who showed up without shirts or shorts. Thank you to the DJ who unlatched my face with Migos, Travis Scott, Lil Uzi etc chunes for 4 hours. Cant wait to do it again. #BuryMeAtRecessPool.

Bartender charged another groups drinks to my card & never gave it back. Had to report it stolen.

Dont show up before 11 its dead, but by 1115 its packed. Some of the best music to dance to in tally, just make sure you dont get pushed in

Went on a tuesday, was free cover and good prices on the alcohol , the club was packed with too many people but we still had a great time , great atmosphere! and a pool

If you enjoy personal space and conversations with friends this is not the place for you.

Security is absolutely horrible and will kick you out for the most minor situation. I was once kicked out because of my flashy belt and thought I was sagging.

Used to be a good place to go to when it first opened but I feel like they let way too many people up there some nights and getting drinks is a mission itself.

Not my crowd, definitely not my kind of vibe on most nights. However, the venue is very spacious, I like that factor.

I asked for a drink and they served glass in it. When I asked the manager about the situation she asked if I wanted “a free drink” and walk away. I personally fell this is unexceptionable.

This place is spectacular to share with very young people, it fills up and gets very good. They dont play Latin music to dance to. They let a lot of people in and its hard to get from one place to another. It has a pool so you can drink and dance in it.

It was a more than fun night. I havent had such a spectacular time in a long time.
