Spent an evening with my wife. The food is awesome and the prices are reasonable for good quality food. Our waiter Alejandro attended to our every need and was friemndly and efficient. He even took the time to memtion their Games night Tuesdays, Art Wednesday and one price food Thursdays. We are definitely coming back!
I gave 5⭐️ because the food was very delicious & fresh. Pay attention to your receipt🧾 because they charge a high gratuity if your meal is over $100. It’s best to pay in cash 💵 because they charge close to $10 card💳 fee. Also, if your card doesn’t have a chip they claim they won’t take it but it’s not true they take cards with or without chips. Drink menu doesn’t have prices because the drinks are close to $20. Like I said the Food is exquisite but pay attention to the fine print on the menu.
We were a party of 14 people dividing in 2 tables , 8 and 6, for a birthday. I will start that the place was freaking cold, they said something with the thermostat, btw wasnt that cold that day outside, then our server Erika didnt know about their menu, this wasnt my first time here. Other times were ok, but today... on the menu said served family style for starters, so that means they bring a tray with all the appetizers so you can share, well... she was asking per person what does they wanted for an appetizer, and I said they because she skipped me, I had to tell one of my friends to tell her to come back to the table, she had to go to asked to the kitchen if she can bring a tray with a mix of everything, she came back saying yes, she brought only 1 tray per table, I attached the picture, for a table of 8 people, bringing 5 halves of empanadas and 2 montaditos, its not enough specially when there were people that never tried before. We asked if they could bring another tray one for each table, again Erika brought them 2 trays, however she put one of the trays on the wrong table and one for us, we explained 3 times thats not our table, only these two, she excused herself she didnt know how many tables we were and she thought we were together with the other table, so at the end 1 of our table didnt get an extra tray, whatever, next thing... food took FOREVER, we asked why? They told us they had 2 cooks that called out, so they were with short staff, we didnt complain about that, but it could be better if they told you before that food will take time, my burger was the first dish to came, without egg, at this point I didnt even want to complaint about they forgot it, but my friend told the server and 3 min after they brought me an egg, my burger was salty, extremely dry, no condiments (mayo or mustard), and the last person between 2 tables was the birthday guy, he also order a burger and his burger was the last dish, how ridiculous is this??? The server asked at the same time for both tables, so why bring it at last. By the end I was really upset and disappointed, I didnt finish my food... I just ordered my check, and again, the server has to check if they can split it. Even if everyone orders the brunch with bottomless, she needs to check if we can split. She came back and said only could split in 2. So, the other 13 people need to figure it out how to split it.RIDICULOUS this place.
The good is impressive. More expensive than the Spanish food I have consumed elsewhere but delicious nonetheless. The restaurant is in impeccable. All white and clean as a whistle. I truly appreciate and enjoy such attention to detail. The maduros were so thick, and sweet, I could have just eaten those.
So I just realized I got ripped off! I brought a $100 bill with me to pick up the food I ordered. It was raining so I was rushing to find a parking and get in the restaurant as quick as I can. When I handed the bill the server told me it’s $101.46 and instantly said it’s okay. I don’t have any other cash. She took the $100. I thought that was enough money since my estimate price of food total was $75-$80. Little did I know she charged me 20% gratuity and credit/debit card transaction 4%. Why would you charge me credit card transaction when I paid cash and why would I tip you if I’m picking the food! I never tip whenever I pick the food or else I will just pay for delivery! This is a ripoff and I hope it won’t happen to others. Good thing I asked for receipt because I was scratching my head why it was too much. The price menu says $44.95/30.95 per dish didn’t expect to go up to $100. Jesus, Mary and Joseph. I think you need to give me my $20 back! Don’t take advantage of customers just cause you think you can get away with it. I didn’t dine in or was sitting at table 9. Cash total $97.34. TF is that Rebeka I handed you $100 what’s with the odd number. There shouldn’t be 20% gratuity added for takeout orders... Yes your food tastes lovely and all, it’s my first time ordering but I don’t think I’ll order again. There’s plenty of options nearby. It’s a brand new year if you want good karma coming your way be honest with consumers. Thanks happy new year 🎆
Don Coqui is a place to hang and have a drink. Please, be prepared to have a ride dropping you off and picking you up because parking is almost nonexistent. Usually they seem to serve food however in my case when we came here was to try their delicious drinks and steak. Which they seem not to have neither. They try to excuse by saying that they had a large party. That is is weakness on business. The music is nice, bathrooms are spotless and service frequently. We enjoy our appetizers and a strawberry mojito. The chicken empanadas were good in comparison to the beef empanadas. The calamari felt that were left over from the other order since were small as a finger ring. Unfortunately they didn’t taste like calamari it was more like onions rings. It was supposed to come with shrimp too but it had none. The chicken was in point. The strawberry 🍓 mojito was the best I had in any restaurant, and a plate from a neighbor table look awe 🫢the meat looked like dried jerky, impossible to eat it. I had a good time remembering the era of 1999 once again for the time being. In general fact: no parking, no food we wanted, no drinks we wanted. I might comeback if I am invited only no because I want.
Was here during clubbing hours. Awful. Music/audio was atrociously loud and badly mixed. All I heard is bass and that horn every 5 seconds. Terrible DJ that night. Also one of the workers was chasing me down to have a shot. A friend warned me to not take it otherwise I’d had to pay on the spot. Club Whiskey is way better.
I haven’t been here in over 3 years and honestly I see why. Drinks were atrocious. Ordered the most simplest drink. Gin and tonic. All you tasted was straight gin, it was disgusting. The entire night we had girls coming up asking for shots or hookah when we had repeatedly told them no. The place is completely outdated. Im convinced they hire the bartenders for looks and not actual bartending skills. The only good part was the bachata that was on for like 5 minutes then straight dem bow the entire night 👎 They need to take into account the continuous reviews and change it up.
I had a good time here and the food is pretty good. Just be aware the lighting is pretty dim but youll find the menus light up! But I can see some would like to have a better view of what theyre eating. The service is what you would expect of a restaurant of this caliber.Sometimes the music gets turned up a little too loud so you struggle to hear what others are saying in your party.
This was the worst dining experience I’ve had this year. We came for a birthday dinner for our niece and everything was wrong from beginning. They didn’t tell us when our table is ready when our table was ready, they didn’t give us the proper menus for the birthday they had to go make her birthday menu, they took forever to bring all of our drinks. Some of us didn’t even get drinks until the end of our dining. The bathroom was slippery, the food was cold. They ran out of certain foods, so what was described on the menu was not what we got. Food portions were inconsistent. A hair was found in our food when we were playing to go early They did not bring out birthday dessert or sing. Happy birthday to my niece, most of us did not even finish our food because it was not good. There was only one waiter who was good but it made service extremely slow. The bathroom was slippery with no wet signs, we didn’t get bags for our takeout, they didn’t provide a free meal for the birthday guest which is stated on their site Our bill was almost $1000 and was not worth it at all, this will be the last dinner I plan here. I’m leaving and going to the Cheesecake Factory or city island because I did not finish my food.
I went today with my family to celebrate Mother’s Day. This has to be the worse experience ever. The waiter was so unprofessional. I asked for water and a soda and after a hour the waiter came back with neither. Then the food was served I asked for a medium rare steak and it came out over cooked and hard. Then the restaurant didn’t have knives for the steak so I ended up not eating my food because I never got a knife to cut up my over cooked steak but I still got charged for it. Then my other family members that asked for salmon was disappointed as well because it wasn’t fresh salmon. It tasted like a frozen salmon that you buy at Costco. It gets better!! Then I asked for regular napkins the waiter brings back cocktail napkins because they didn’t have regular napkins. When asked to bring salt and pepper the waiter brought back packets of them and not an actual shaker. Then I go use the bathroom and the door wouldn’t close like what in gods name. How is this restaurant still open?? It was a party of 8 and the bill was $741.00 for garbage. I will never return to this place ever again. I was better off going to Oliver garden and saving $500.00
The decor in the restaurant is dark. More for the nightlife. Dinner on a Friday at 6 pm was a ghost town. The food was good overall. A bit overpriced for latin food versus other places Ive dined. If it was latin fusion food, I could see the prices would justify it. The service was very good.
My husband and I went for drinks but the place was so empty I was shocked. The drinks were good but we didnt stay more than 10 mins unfortunately. I use to love that place so maybe it was just a slow night. I would try to go back again.
Went to a dinner partyHad a great time. Nice inside.Had the seafood paella. It was good, I forgot to take a picture. Service was blah. Soda watered down tasting. No alcoholic beverages unless you were willing to walk 2 flights down to the bar. I wasnt doing that in my shoes. Appetizers were one and done for the table. So not refreshed when I asked for it. The heat was not on and was told by the server they the manager was very strict. Whatever the Fuch that meant! Not when we paid 50$ per person...Big Eye Roll😤🙄
I just finished 2 stressful months at school and a good friend took me out to celebrate my advancing forward in school. We danced and sang Latin music from 11 pm till 1:30. DJ was awesome , people were courteous .a great place to celebrate with friends. We are planning our next trip in 2 months. It was simply amazing !!
The place is dark, and there is no menu sign posted outside. It was empty for a Friday night. This place was good at one point. I hope they get it together. I do know the one in New Rochelle closed down, and the I believe the other location in City Island as well drink was terrible bar wasnt fully stocked
Service here is incredibly slow. We arrived an hour before our game and it took 30 minutes to get drinks because our server forgot we ordered them and asked us again after our friends showed up. 10-15 minutes later our food finally showed up leaving us only 5 minutes to eat it and get it boxes up so we didnt miss our game. The place looks nice and some of the staff was polite but none of there service was worth a tip. They also have a nightclub in the back. The food wasnt that bad but $20 for a plate I didnt get to eat more than 1/5 of is a bit steep.
DO NOT USE YOUR CREDIT CARD AT THIS ESTABLISHMENT!!!My party of 4 went to celebrate a birthday. As we went to pay the bill, we wanted it split 3 ways. The waitress stated that she couldnt do that. We attempted to put it on one card, that came back that the establishment was blocked. Another card was given and the user had to give permission. The waitress ran that card twice. The establishment attempted to take both runs!!!! (Bill was 400 bucks!!) And, charged the first card that was originally declined. I dont know what kind of scam they are trying to get away with, but please be aware, or bring cash. As for the food...appetizers were good, main dishes were meh. Service was slow. Also of note, I attempted to call the establishment about this AND emailed twice, no response. I had to go through my bank to resolve this.I WILL NOT BE GOING BACK
Visited don Coqui to celebrate my daughters hs graduation with my family. Party of 23, the service was fine the waitress did her best to accommodate our needs. The food was terrible. I order the seafood Paella. Shrimp was overcooked they cooked the yellow rice and then threw the seafood on top of it. That is not how Paella is traditionally made. They forgot to add the chicken and chorizo I brought it to the waitress attention she apologies then brought me a side order of chicken and chorizo. My family is mix with puerto ricans and Dominicans. We know what good latin flair cuisine is all about. Ive been to small independent restaurants that cook better then Don Coqui white plains. Take my advice and stay away.
A must go. Covid safe and extremely fun. I celebrated my bday here on 2/12. The staff was professional, wore mask, took temperatures and names and numbers of customers. The table spacing was great. I had the BEST time! The music, food and drinks was over the top delicious.Very nice for a date or a group of fun friends.
Wow! Words can’t describe how grateful I am for this team of professional and wonderful staff. I called this establishment on a Friday for my dads memorial dinner after the funeral services for Monday. This space is unconventional but my dad would’ve loved a space like this to be remembered. Thank you for making my vision come to life and for the amazing frozen passion fruit drinks.
I hosted my friend’s farewell party at Don Coqui, and it was the perfect restaurant to host a party of 15+. Reservations were easy to make online, and Maria, who I spoke with on the phone, reassured me that our reservation was confirmed, the day prior to the party. The venue itself was nicely decorated for Halloween, very clean and modern, and the booth seating along the wall was very nice and comfortable. The restaurant staff had no problem with us bringing decorations, and even lowering the background music playing. We stayed for the Sunday Brunch, which was a pre-fixe menu of $45 per person, including bottom-less mimosas and sangria.Just beware the restaurant has a strict policy of 2 hours for each brunch party, and if you go over the time, they’ll remind you to pay, otherwise you’ll have to pay extra $10 per person for extra time. The food was pretty decent, but the appetizers differed from what was listed on the menu. The menus stated chicken empanadas, however, what was provided was beef empanadas, which were delicious, but not what we were expecting.Overall, our experience at Don Coqui was enjoyable, and I would recommend it if you’re looking for delicious Latin food with a lovely atmosphere.
BEWARE. This is not the Don Coqui I remember. Must be New ownership as this place has fallen and I mean fallen bad! Auto gratuity of 20% with a bill over $100. Strike 1. Sketchy people coming in/out; marijuana odor everywhere. Strike 2. Tasteless food with a heavy price tag. Strike 3. All in all, highly disappointed and definitely not worth it. In regard to value or quality or anything multiple thumbs down 👎👎👎
First time eating Don Coqui since the pandemic and sadly I was disappointed. The ox tail was nothing but bone and fat. The rice that came with the ox tail was partially cooked. The churrasco that was ordered was supposed to be medium well, it was very chewy. My jaw bone muscles had a very good workout. Definitely not the same Don Coqui I remembered.
This is 1 of those spots you can judge from the outside, Food is GREAT 👍 👌 Bar Tender is very slow. It was still early, and maybe 4-5 people at the bar had already been served. I had to wait 20mins just to have them take my order another 25mins to make 4 strawberry mojitos, which ($100)🤦 and they were small glasses and the drinks were not good, aside from that the waitresses & waiters were Great, the Lounge Staff & Hookah staff were Great⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ It was a Great Night!!!
Well, The service was okay😏I through my Friend and I was getting Happy Hour DrinksBut was charge $12.00 dollars each instead of $8.00 like I thought 🥃🥃, then the drinks were not that Strong 😏. The Mimi cheese burger Sliders and Fries were Good .Hmmm $46.00 + tip, Oh well they got away this time It wont be a next time😁😉🙌.
2022-I am here for Fathers Day for a 5 pm reservation and I should have known to run. It was empty and it took 20 min before our waitress took our drink order. She then returned and said let mw verify what we don’t have. The appetizers available was cheese empanadas and buffalo wings. Wow! Nothing in the entree section was available and blamed it on the fact that they had brunch earlier. I never received the braised Oxtail and told them never mind and watched as my daughters tried to eat the most dry steak and onions in the world. At this time I’m m still waiting on the side of plantains, oh well. Don’t come here it’s not worth it and the service is subpar.
This was my first time coming to this location. I have been to the one on city island which is closer to me. I came here because my dad had a groupon coupon he wanted to take me out for a meal. The place was nice, not as lively as the one where I live, its probably because it was on a Sunday night. Usually this place is very lively. The food was delicious, the music was nice and the service was ok. Parking wasnt to bad and it wasnt to crowded. Only downfall that bothered me was the fact they offered a bottled of water and just plain water was free with the service. It came out to 5 dollars for the water. I wish the waiter or waitress wouldve mentioned that it cost. But overall the place was nice.
My food tasted like the salmon and vegetables were frozen and the mashed potatoes did not have garlic in the potatoes as specified in the menu.they tasted like instant potatoes. It was cold and Smokey from the over cooked meat and it was awfully dark in the restaurant when they say a dark restaurant they don’t want you to see your food properly. 🤔 staff was rude.
My experience started without even walking in (I was just walking my dog down the street in the middle of the day and had zero intentions of going here) and my dog went to lift his leg (in a public spot) and this woman YELLED at me, saying GET OUT OF HERE! GET YOUR DOG AWAY FROM HERE! I AM THE OWNER, DONT LET YOUR DOG PEE HERE! Imagine the manager of an establishment yelling at a patron who isnt bothering anyone and minding their business, walking their dog?! Why would I ever even CONSIDER walking into this place. She was nuts! Sorry you had a bad day, but dont take it out on strangers walking down the street. JFC. I went inside once before (five years ago) with coworkers and all I can say is this: if youre a woman, do NOT go here by yourself. I would never go here again.
Dj Lucho music was awesome. Artist great, but food was late serving, and some people complained of being cold. I order the Mangu tres golpe. It was good. Don coqui have to work on big crowd brunches.
2021 Birthday AfterParty was spent here with about 20 friends in the lounge area. The ambiance, The Music was a decent mix of 2000 Hip Hop, Reggaeton and Carribbean Vibes. The staff, The service is great and the food/drinks were spectacular! Even when they are under staffed they make sure we are treated well. Their was a few of us, but staff was was ready and willing to roll up their sleeves and assist. This was our first time here and we were not disappointed. Next time we visit NYC, we already know where we want to go.
Worst place to have a party 9 people worst service brunch is a lie they dont have the main dishes is a scam
Food is decent when you dine in, But NEVER will I ever order delivery from them again. Food came sloppily packaged and missing 3/4 of the items. If you have a problem with your order, good luck getting someone on the phone. Ive called multiple times only to have to listen through their automated message and to be forwarded to voicemail. No response. Also e-mailed and messaged through FB...no response. This is not the first, but the SECOND time I received a delivery that was WRONG and looked as though I received the scraps off of someone elses table. Terrible customer service and if a restaurant cannot keep up with deliveries, they probably shouldnt offer it. For the amount of money I spent (that was thrown in the garbage) I will never dine-in/order from them again.
I spend $200 on a large order of Paella today, December 24, 2020. I got no crab legs and no lobster, and maybe two or three shrimp serving nine people. Since the original Don Coqui in the Bronx, I have been a customer, and every Christmas eve, Ive brought Paella for my Birthday. I was very disappointed with this order; I felt ripped off, and this will be the last time I will be a Don Coqui customer in White Plains. I guess I will have to travel to Jimmys Cafe in the Bronx for better Paella!!
Ending up at Don Coqui after a holiday party was a bad idea for me. Haven been convinced by colleagues to pass time at Don Coqui on Friday, December 15, 2023 I thought trying a new hang out spot could be fun, but I was wrong. Or maybe where I was wrong was staying back after my colleagues left me because I started making new friends, one of which was a female who rejected the attention from another male because of me. Seeing that I was more amusing and fun to hang with, the male customer went to his security/bouncer friend and requested to have me thrown out. On his request, the security guard or bouncer did not ask questions; he literally grabbed me in an assaulting and embarrassing manner and shoved me outside, in the process, hed taken my cash of $220.00 and did not allow me retrieve my $180.00 valued black jacket and my $65.00 valued black turtle neck shirt. While standing outside their door wondering what just happened as he would not answer me, another security guard came and told me that he said I was sleep-dancing (whatever that meant) and that I can come back the following day to get my stuff. Mind blowing! I knew I had consumed enough alcohol to be vulnerable if I engaged the law enforcement and they knew that, so, I peacefully walked away. Upon leaving, a young man who see it all while he was in Don Coqui walked up to me and said hey, sorry man, I had to leave with my friends when we saw what they did to you, the girl you were talking with at the bar had ditched one of those guys and he was upset and used his security guard friend to kick you out just to spite her and I saw your money fall out and he grabbed it, did he give it to you?. At that moment, it felt to me, like God delivered me from a dirty staff that was in a favorable position to do the worst. I was grateful to have maintained my demeanor and walked away not minding the material things and money lost that I could easily replace. Overall, the bar tenders and DJ were excellent, I even had to spray the DJ $80 dollars in $1.00 bills, but their excellence amounted to zero with just that one bad security guard. Don Coqui owes her patrons some sense of security and if a security guard who is supposed to enforce that is the one stealing from her patrons and acting with biasness against her guests, he cancels all the excellent efforts by the good staff. Im definitely never going there again.
It was four of us. We arrived around 6:30pm on Saturday evening. We were out celebrating Marias birthday. It was somewhat empty when we arrived but it began to fill up quickly within the hour.We started out with beef empanadas as the appetizers. ❤ Yummy!!!!! I had the pork chops with black bean rice and potato salad. The chops and rice portions were good in my opinion but the salad portion was to small. They used a melon ball or small ice cream scoop for the salad. I wish my meal included a few pieces of sweet plantains and some avocado. That would have completed the meal.Overall, the food was so delicious. ❤❤ The service was great. 🙌🏽🙌🏽 The birthday girl, her husband and former co-worker enjoyed their meals, including their beer, mojitos and coquitos. I had a Pepsi and water. The decor of the restaurant was beautiful. The red, white and black color scheme was on point👍🏽👌🏽 and I loved the ambiance of the place. Oh and the menu was lit, when you opened it up, which is a nice touch.👌🏽👍🏽Wish I had taken a pic of it. There was a separate bar area and in the back their was a private party with a DJ on deck, which was reminiscent of the New Roc location I use to frequent. I was disappointed to learn last week, it has been closed for over 2 years now. Oh well, I will be returning to this new location. I hope sooner rather than later.
Avoid this place at all costs!! Its not the Don Coqui from before I wouldve given a 0, but It wont allow me to. The food was COLD AND TASTELESS the soda and water were disgusting the restaurant was cold the waitress acted like she didnt want to work. Dont waste your time and money you WILL be very disappointed.
Went last weekend for a party. They ran out of food but didn’t tell anyone until we had like 6 of us sitting with no plates waiting on our orders. took over an hour to find out we weren’t eating lol. The bar in the room didn’t have anything except some hot soda bottles on the counter and nobody around to serve. when we did go grab the soda the waitress got mad. Had the nerve to act like we were inconveniencing her for having to work. Two old ladies served us who clearly never served in their life. Nobody ever came in to see how things are going and we didn’t even have water. Had to go downstairs for drinks at that bar. beer was $7 lol this place was a disaster and the staff was so rude for no reason.
I went to this place for Valentines Day, It was a group of 4. The menu was prefixed and it was not great but we ordered anyway. I got FOOD POSINING from there. WE ALL got SICK and due to my knowledge from working at a hospital, I would know a thing or two, sure enough FOOD POSINING. I called this place, this girl pick-up by the name of Monique, she gave me an attitude and told me a manager was going to call me back and I DIDNT have FOOD POSINING, THE MANAGER never called me back ( this was about a week ago)to even say I am sorry this happened to you, NO RESPECT, I spend almost $500 that night. OVER PRICED
Came in on an empty day. Sat by the bar. Big CASH ONLY SIGN. Lady bartender gives me a happy hour menu. My colleagues and I ordered from that menu. Drinks were nothing to go crazy about. After 2 rounds we are ready to be seated. When I closed the tab, I realized my bill prices is not matching the menus prices. Drinks were supposed to be 8 dollars but Im being charged 12. When I bring this to the attention of the new bartender, he tells me that the menu I was given is old and that these are the new prices. I would have left at that moment but I was with people at work. We go to the restaurant area and we seat down. The place is empty. I asked if I can have two different bills, one for the food and one for the alcohol but Im told no. We ordered but we are told they only have 3 steaks left. Our waitress was nice and helpful, the food was okay but the experience in general was not good at all.
I took my daughter there to celebrate her graduation, and the service was horrible and when I went to pay for service, they said that they only take cash. Only then the servicemen decided to tell me the cash machine was out of service.
Our chopped salad wasn’t chopped ,there were no cucumbers or avocado as stated on the menu. Steak , on the menu wasn’t available . Maria our one and only waitress was pushing items on the menu and rushing so much you would think she needed the table on a not busy Saturday night . The paella , the reason for going, was delivered in no time , should take at least 40 minutes to prepare. To top it all off I didn’t see that the tip was included, my wife had to wrestle the money back from the elusive Maria . To us Don Cloqui is Don Done . Bad
I worked hard to accommodate my group who traveled far. I understood it was 45.00 pp w unlimited mimosa or sangrias. I understood from original conversation that we could order from regular menu for those that opted not to be limited since 95% of group did not drink. Food cold, dim light, error of food after being told not to move in order not to give wrong food. One particular dish was given to a wrong person who bit onto the plate thinking it was theirs. Then to find out it wasnt took it back and then came back out with same bite just more sauce, disgusting. Then I asked for food to be taken back since we were paying 4 a steak that was so small u can just make a sandwich. They reheated w egg and bought out, I wanted the third time to smash the plate of how furious I was. Horrible location made me look bad. 1200 dollars down the drain. My waitress was a nice lady who tried her hardest. Only reason went there was because not too many placed were willing to accommodate the party and they did.Again, nice people 👍 just chef sucks and not consistent w portions.
I recently visited Don Don Coqui in White plains. ] and was disappointed to find that I was overcharged for my food. I ordered paella and noticed that the prices listed on the menu were lower than what I was charged event know is a reservation for a birthday celebration. I felt like I was taken advantage of and that my experience at the restaurant was soured as a result. I would not recommend this place.
The 2nd Security point (pat down) are full of clowns. They demanded we check our coat. They demanded we throw our vapes away bc they sell hookah. They demand we use cash when the woman are allowed to use card. Went to the front Security guard and he said I hate my co workers, follow me ill make sure theyll let you in the second Security guard was so mad we got in. Suck to suck dude. Do better. Reporting yall to the BBB all this cash only nonsense doesnt add up. Something shady is happening behind those doors. 🚔 🚓
I had a wonderful experience here. Went here for a girls night out with a couple of good friends. The receptionist was so kind to us same with the servers. The food was fantastic, you must try the oxtail when you go! Insanely delicious. Amazing music, the lounge area was so fantastic the bartenders are so sweet and make such great conversation. Overall 10/10! Would definitely recommend
The food was amazing, every rime I go it just gets better and better 💯, and even the Appetizers at the club is great the vibe is good the music is A1 also the service is on point.. T.jAy P.R
The food was very tasty and nice sized portions a bit expensive but worth it. If youre having a celebration there as I did1 Make sure your reservation and party is there well before 7pm2 be sure to have enough cash. The restaurant was only able to accept 2 cards for a crowd of 30+ people. So make sure you zelle, cashapp PayPal accounts and ect. Is in good standing for those of your party who dont carry cash.My whole night I felt rushed by the hist. Mind you this was a surprise engagement. I never got to give my speech to my new fiance. But we were comped a free bottle to enjoy our time in its club area.Note if Spanish music is not your thing. Find another place to partyThe DJs will not compromise and mix in any other genres
Getting straight to the bad, The Arroz con pollo, arguably the signature dish of any Puerto Rican restaurant lacked flavor and the chicken bones from the drumsticks were crushed too the point that we were picking the pieces from every bite. The Oxtail were a bit rubbery and undercooked, the gravy was tasty, but there was barely enough to cover the meat. The pork chicharron was good, but service wise I asked for a small side of lime and salt, and didnt receive that until the app was nearly done. The ceviche appetizer was a let down and tasted bitter. The seafood was rubbery and didnt taste fresh. After a few bites we had to waste the entire plate because it was inedible. We also ordered the steak and onion dish, the cut of meat was probably one of the worst Ive had from a restaurant, it was physically cut incorrectly for the grain and the texture was of a low grade. It was chewy, overcooked, under seasoned and fibrous. Sad to say but the food and service have declined to a point where I would not return again. DC used to be a staple in my restaurant rotation but I can not justify returning. The service was slow on a empty night, the wait staff were inattentive and confused our order with the only other party present. Then our entree came to the table before our appetizers, at which point we explained the mix up and our mains went back to the kitchen. It didnt take long before I had to request the food back because I realize they would most likely have to reheat them in a microwave.
I’m sorry my family and I drove and hour away and it was such a waist of time! Atmosphere was great, even thou we had a really loud party next to us but the food was so bad! Paella was hard and too much flavor, steak with mofongo was nasty 🤮 sorry but will never go there again! Employees were all great but food was really bad! Didn’t want to compliant because of their kindness but can’t let another customer go thru this ! $156.00 down the drain
Victor was our awesome waiter for our twin girls college graduation dinner. Beautiful place
Sadly, this place seems to have fell off. Used to love coming here but the most recent experience was completely the opposite of what I was accustomed to. For starters, it took 20 minutes for waiter to acknowledge our presence. Second, never was there an introduction from the waiter. He simply walked over and we ordered our entire order since we had plenty on time to look at the menu. Funny enough, the hostess took away our menu before the waiter even came to our table. Once our order was taken, there was another 20-25 minutes before our alcohol-less pitcher of Mojito arrived. I know it was alcohol-less because I don’t drink and my significant other who hasn’t drank alcohol in over two years also agreed that it tasted like sprite and mint leaves. The most responsive experience of the night was when I was trying to pack up our To-Go and in between packing, they tried to take away our plates that we were packing. Simply horrible experience here at the Mamaroneck location. Unfortunately, it left such a bad taste in our mouths (no pun intended) that I don’t even think I would give them the benefit of the doubt and go to the other location with hopes of a better experience.P.S I wrote this all after drinking approximately 85% of the alcohol-less pitcher.
Nice looking restaurant. Plenty of seating space. I went on a Saturday around 2:30pm so it was no wait ! Fast service and quick turn around with food. I ordered the shrimp scampi with rice and beans. It was average. I also tried the Hennessy coquito it was actually good very smooth and for you henny lovers definitely will taste the henny. I can see this place getting crazy but for now if I go back definitely will do an early afternoon to avoid crowds.
This place could be really good, it looks nice when you first walk in and the food isnt bad, but it takes so incredibly long to be brought to the table.Ive been here multiple times and the service is always terrible, people at the bar are not friendly, drinks are not that big of a deal and incredibly overpriced (mind you they dont even have the price of each drink in the menu which is weird to me) and theyre just ignoring you even when you directly call for assistance. Also, manager doesnt care about you going to complain about all of this it looks like theyre used to it at this point.
Dont order the oxtail it was undercookedThe food is a 6 1/2 on a scale of 1-10The atmosphere is nice but at those prices the quality of the food needs too improve expeditiously 🤷🏿♀️didnt live up too the hype
The decor is tasteful, and the food was excellent. The staff was very warm and accomodating. The Paella was big enough to share for 2, the seafood was good but a little over cooked. The Oxtails were very tasty. The stew chicken was excellent. The wife enjoyed a sangria, and I tried the Cocotaso. It was tasty but sneaky, so be careful. We also had a taste of the legendary coquito, and it was pleasant, with a small hint of rum.Overall, it was a great experience and highly recommended.
I simply cannot recommend this place. My friends and I had a reservation for my friends birthday and the service was ok but they completely blindsided us with prices. We had called them multiple times to confirm that there would be hookah and when we arrived we were informed that there was no hookah and they did no refund us. Then we were forced to pay for part of the package in cash which no one had previously mentioned. And they had workers coming around to offer shots but it made us so uncomfortable because they wouldn’t take no for an answer. Overall the worst experience I’ve had at a club.
20min for us to get someone for drinks, 10min to receive it. The restaurant was empty mind you , and several ppl walked in and out because they were not being served. Including a party of 12 ppl!! 45min after getting our food , its was old ! Ive reheated my own Rican dishes and trust me, this was old food. I refuse to eat this for the overly priced menu which BTW , most dishes were unavailable. I complained to the manager which was a very young girl who literally was not equipped for this type of job. She said okay. Just pay for the drinks. we waited 10min and she disappeared. I got up and left after i waiting for a check for 2 non alcoholic beverages and almost 2hrs sitting around was crazy ! To not eat ! Never again will I go , Ive discouraged anyone who does. This place was so nice to eat years ago , not anymore. Old food , terrible service and overpriced. I miss sofrito , none of this ever happened there in my experience. Sad . I hope they close them all , what a terrible representation of authentic puertorican food. Definitely a disgrace .
You wait about half hour before a waiter comes and it’s not even busy… next the food is not hot but rather barely warm… then for just two ppl 20% gratuity was added and the waiter had the nerve to try and say it wasn’t added when notice we didn’t put gratuity… would probably NEVER visit again…
It has to be odd for me to post a bad review… but, this has got to be the weirdest spot for drinks ever. As a Puerto Rican I am ashamed. Other then the atmosphere being decent on a Friday night for drinks, don’t waste you time. Also… Only CASH??? I would be that they also own the ATM inside to make extra money on the fees. Something about this spot is shady.
I came here to eat this evening with my friends and what an amazing time we had. Great food, music, and drinks. Our servers name was Chelsea and she did an excellent job and made us feel so welcomed. She had great recommendations on food selections. I ordered the seafood paella and I give it a 10! Thanks for the excellent service Chelsea!
I went to this place for a birthday party. First of all, the place was too dark to eat. I literally had to use my cell phone flashlight to see what appetizers I was eating. Also, it took a long time to get water, the steak was too dry and tough to cut (I didn’t finish my food or take it home with me.), the restaurant charges you a 4.65% sub charge fee if you use a credit/debit card, the drinks were too strong, and they had a sketchy bathroom attendant, so make sure you go to the bathroom as a group. It was not a pleasant experience at all. I drove 1.5 hours to get disgusting food and a disappointing experience. I would not recommend this place to anyone. My first and last time.
Went during brunch, had a limited menu for a bottomless brunch and the appetizer was supposed to be chicken empanadas I was only given one tiny one sliced in half, chicken chunks and pork chin is just thrown on a plate with lettuce. Then for the entree I ordered chicken with rice and beans and my dad ordered steak with rice and beans. The chicken serving was very small and the steak was a thin slice. Lastly my water tasted like juice was just in the cup. $132 was not worth that meal even with the two drinks my father and I had. The only thing they made up for it was my waitress but I will not be not coming back for the food
The experience here was so disappointing !! Although the food was delicious ( after the hour and a half it took to finally come out ) it’s about the only good thing I have to say. There was about 12 of us but a reservation was made a month in advance for my friend’s birthday party, the service was terrible it took almost 40 minutes just to get orders in, with a number of items on the already limited menu not being “ available”. After a loooong wait and a mention to the server who “ thought we wanted the appetizers and entrees brought out together”Appetizers were brought out but half of them were missing. Everything else was brought out extremely sporadically to the point that two of our guests didn’t receive their meals until everyone else had already eaten and were packing up to go boxes. On top of all this when we received the bill we were charged for things we never ordered such as sodas and alcoholic beverages, charged a credit card fee before we had even paid ( we were paying with cash ) , gratuity was automatically added which is why im guessing the servers were so careless because they know they’re getting their money no matter what. But on top of all of that when we confronted the manager about the issues we were met with attitude and ignorance to the clear problems at hand. Such as trying to refuse to compensate the mistakes and very dull effort to communicate. The server was also extremely rude when confronted. Overall this restaurant was a very big disappointment and the management and staff were both unprofessional and unprepared. I hope in the future these problems gain more attention because like i said the food was absolutely delicious. But be warned maybe bring a little snack in your bag because you’re gonna be waaaaaaaiiiittttingg
I had such a great time at don coqui! It was definitely giving classy fun vibes! Went there to celebrate my birthday. Food, music ambiance was amazing. There aren’t many places like this anymore where you can have an excellent meal and then dance the night away! Upscale vibes with great prices! Grown and sexy vibes. Will definitely come back. It’s the place to be. Thank you to the staff ❤️
I made a reservation for 5pm, and did not receive our food until 7pm. Terrible service. The waiter was not helpful, the bustgirl was way more helpful. We waited 2 hours for our entree, while the steak was good, the rice was cold and hard. Waited an hour for water which we had to ask for 3 times. It felt like they forgot about our table of 3 numerous times. The manager was responsive to our complaints because it feels unfair to include 20% gratuity to a check where the service was subpar. Would not come back
A dinner and party experience combined. The atmosphere is lively and clearly ready for a party. I had heard about this place but it was my first time going. In two words: worth it!The experience from start to finish was excellent. All of the staff was super friendly and the atmosphere was inviting and lively. The food was delicious with portions that left us feeling stuffed. The drinks did not skimp on the liquor. I will be back.
Came here for Mother’s Day dinner and overall disappointing experience. Waiter was very unprofessional, water and drinks didn’t come until after the appetizer and waited over 2 hours for the entree. Food being good is the only reason to not give a 1 star review.
I must say, this place is a true gem. I went for dinner. We were a party of 5. Service was amazing and food was delicious. We couldn’t help but stay and party. The DJ was very versatile with his music selection. Will definitely be making this a go to spot!! Keep up the great work
I like this place! The male bartender was pretty cool to talk to. I got a side dish at the bar; drinks are a bit pricey but it’s still worth trying. One thing I did noticed was that the female employees are gorgeous especially the women bartender working in the lounge area on 10/21/22.Anyways, J Lo and Fat Joe make frequent visits here according to one of the workers, you may get lucky and see them if you’re there.Definitely recommend to anyone to stop by if you’re in the area.
Went on Mothers day and had the worst experience. Had a reservation yet still waited hr and a half for our table. Pre fixed menu items were not available. No calamari and no paella. We had to ask for something to compensate for the lack of items for the fixed price. The steak was disgusting. Went next door to get pizza. Never asked us for a drink order. Didnt even get water. Thank goodness for the bartender who tried to help us out. Dessert came out (not the ones on the menu), and they were completely frozen. Will never go back, especially on a holiday. The manager had no idea how to handle these situations. He stated we ran out bc they took walk ins. So our reservation meant nothing.
I had the most HORRIBLE experience at this restaurant!!Let’s start at the walk in: the manager was non-approachable!!!We had a reservation for 3 at 6pm today (Father’s Day) our waiter was Arnold. We ordered 2 drinks and a sprite (the sprite was seltzer water) smh we sent it back and got ginger ale! Now time for appetizers I ordered chicken empanadas and ceviche where the waiter said we don’t have that (it’s on the menu) I then said ok I’ll take guacamole where he again said no we don’t have that as well (it’s on the menu) at that point I was annoyed and said well what do you have, he said well fried pork chunks 😒 I said I don’t eat pork!! He shrugged his shoulders as like to say “oh well” I said ok how about soup he Nope tampoco (meaning no that either) I said look just tell me what you have and he said “carrots” in Spanish, I said what he said so what you want? I Said just the empanadas for my husband and I skipped the appetizer for myself. Another waiter skipped our table and dropped off some water cups for another table and you guessed it we got no water, no table bread, no nothing!!!Now we have to order entrees 🤦🏻♀️ my husband order steak rice and peas and potatoes saladHis daughter got steak mofongo and I got a shrimp mofongo because they had NO SOUP! The potato salad was blamed tasteless and loaded with Mayo and the mofongo was dry and also lacked flavor!!My shrimp was so tasteless cold like it was sitting out because another table didn’t want it. This is the worst restaurant I have ever went to and I’ve been to many. The best thing was the music until I seen our visit was at most 40 mins long and the same songs played over and over again. Here is the kicker the tip was already included in the bill bringing my bill to 233.xx for the most poor experience and service I have ever got! The chairs were stapled the menus were dirty, the tables were wore out.DO BETTER!!!! I will never recommend anyone dine here even if it’s your last resort.
This restaurant does not even deserve one star. It is a rip off. Do not get the birthday prifix which they force you to take if you admit it’s a birthday and even though we wanted to order from the regular menu they denied that choice. Waiter was shady no prices were on the menu and the appetizers of their choice were horrible as well as the food. Chops and rice hard salty and dry. Steak and onions so burned I could not eat that meal at all. Drink prices were so expensive and sweet. No water unless you paid for a bottle. Waiter did not ever ask how was the food etc. The bill for 8 people was over 800.00 20% gratuity for terrible food and service and 4% fee for using a credit card. Never again please be aware of their tactics,
The food was delicious, big portions, a little pricy but worth it. Drinks could have been a little stronger but tasted good. Serve was slow. My friend had a good time for her birthday though and thats all that mattered.
It was hot in there. The AC must have not been working
The bottle girls are a rip off. They stole more than 1/2 of a bottle when they moved us (after my friend paid a lot for 2 bottles the bottle girl kicked us out of our table talking about it was only for 2 hours which of course if it is the case she conveniently enough forgot to mention when she was harassing us to get a table). Be cautious especially the blonde girl. She’ll charge you $750 for 2 bottles then steal one. And the food got my friend sick. I have celebrated my birthday here for almost 15 years but this year was def the last time.
Its 5pm . There are like two tables occupied , otherwise empty. We sit order appetizer . Montaditos.. the pernil is old , for sure reheated. We ordered drinks and still waiting for those 45min later. Like 10 items on the already small menu is unavailable and they never stated this until it was time to order. We are still waiting on the food. 1hr later. The worst service Ive ever had , not to mention the ridiculous upcharge prices on their menu for old food . Will never come here again and definitely do not recommend!! Dinner was also old food. The ppl sitting next to us left without paying angry at their own service and food. Never again ! Sad , use to be a nice place. I should have eaten a slice of pizza across the street and probably had better service. Smfh
Magda is the greatest and most helpful event coordinator in the business! She is on top of every single little detail from decorations to the food, the staff being well trained and every aspect of a great dinning and drinking experience. 10 out of 10 would highly recommend.
Great customer service and attention to needs. Got the churrasco and had no wait time. Friendly staff along with good drinks, loud patrons are the only downside but the music selection was great and made up for it. Got the beef empanadas to go, would order all again.
Went for happy hour for an after work drink! My new favorite bartender Chelsea made me a great cocktail. You can tell she’s an actual mixologist. Definitely will be coming back and bringing my friends with me!!!
RUN!!! DO NOT BOTHER!!!This is single handily the WORST experience for Dining Out weve ever experienced. I have never walked out of a restaurant. After making reservations and waiting TWO hours for our Entrees to come out (never arrived - place was empty!!) you have no other choice. Felt like a Prefix menu with all the items they DID NOT have available. There is really nothing good about this place. Save yourself the aggravation and money.
Happy Hour was great but unfortunately we were extremely disappointed with the food. We waited over an hour for our food to come out. The Shrimp Mofongo was so dry and they only gave you three Shrimp. The Buffalo wings were so salty. The food was overall bland. The bartender was also the waitress which made everything take even longer. Truly a dissatisfaction experience.
Ordered takeout. Was told 30 minutes. 1 hour later the Bar tender who was nasty (Rebeca) said she was busy making drinks. Then she said 20 to 30 minutes longer. I asked for the manager. Who wasnt available so I walked out. I will never go back and I will never recommend them.
Don’t support this place. We came to celebrate our friends birthday and after spending hundreds of dollars at the bar, our friend who is disabled and on crutches was told he can’t sit at the bar and had to stand the rest of the night (which he obviously could not do).Their reasoning: they wanted no chairs at the bar to make more room. It wasn’t even a crowded night.Very discriminatory and non-ADA compliant. Will not be returning.
I came here recently and the food was amazing!!!! As I was paying for my order I realized they took a 15% tip then when I confronted my waitress she said it’s the work policy and told me I shouldn’t complain and leave more. Definitely won’t be coming back!
Fernando was amazing. We need more services like him.
We ordered two dishes: Mofongo with shrimps and Pernil. After waiting for about 45 minutes, the waiter approach to us to inform us that they didnt have shrimps and pernil. It is ridiculous and inconsiderate from the management to allow such stupidity. We were very ungry and left the restaurant to never return.
I made a reservation for 2 for my husbands birthday. When making my reservation I didnt specify the occasion. I get a reservation contract to sign a few days before the reservation. The contract was outdated. In the contract it says there is a 4% charge if you use your credit card which I found ridiculous but whatever. It also said that for parties of 4 or more there would be an automatic 20% gratuity added to your check. When I got the bill there was a 20% gratuity added yet it was only me and my husband having dinner. The 2 drinks we ordered took forever. The food was not what I remembered when we previously ate at Don Coqui when they were in New Rochelle and City Island. The rice and potato salad was bland, the pernil was good but the skin wasnt crunchy, more flabby and fatty. The lighting was poor as well so we couldnt see what we were eating. I ate a fat piece of the pernil thinking it was meat! What really got me was the 20% gratuity charged just for 2 people who had an appetizer, 2 drinks and 2 dinners which was ridiculous. I understand automatic gratuities being added for larger parties but for a party of 2???? Thats not right.
The worst service EVER! We waited 25mins before receiving water. The waiter came 10 mins after. They were out of half the menu. Spoke to the Mgr and he made excuses that they were short-staffed yet he didn’t lift a finger to help. Poorly run establishment. All Don Coqui’s are not the same.
Their clams & chopped chorizo appetizer was good but they do not serve bread with it, So you can not thoroughly enjoy the sauce it came with. They did not serve your free water, You must purchase the bottles. Bottles which one could normally purchase for a dollar were $ 6.50 for two. They do not serve you bread as your waiting for the food, And this is very common among Spanish restaurants. They do not inform you if theres an item thats no longer available until your entree comes to the table. I ordered the pork chops with rice and pigeon peas and potato salad, there was no more rice and pigeon peas they just served with yellow rice. The waitress who attended us Rebecca Adams was not aware of items that were not available in the back. This is showing that theres no communication between the cooks and the servers. They did not afford me an opportunity to change my entree prior to it being served. Also be mindful they add on their own gratuity instead of allowing the customer to choose. Does a credit card search charge according to the receipt. So if you ignore all of these important items aside it was a nice place but I would not recommend it. My bill came out $181.28 for two of us and I had all these issues unresolved.
Please expect the prices to not match the customer service, food, drinks, or state of the bathroom. The bathroom looked absolutely trashed. The sinks were clogged with hair and filled with water. Trash all over the floor. The waiter, employees kept asking if we were good, rushing us through the process of eating any moment they could. The waiter just made the entire experience awkward and unpleasant. We didnt even want to stay and dance because we were THAT turned off. My first time going and Im GOOD! Not again.
Is fun but since the tip is already added in the bill the waiters dont really cater to you also they dont have no more than two wines glasses in the entire club is wierd to me would I go again nah !
Please be advised: when it gets busy, the service takes a dive. The food, however, is pretty good, with great portions being served (I recommend the paella). I went for my birthday and each person paid $45 for family-style appetizers and a main entree. Drinks were separate. Also, they dont have water other than bottled water, and that was $3 per bottle (which I thought was expensive for a small poland spring water bottle). After dining, they have a lounge in the back that you can stay in, which explains how loud it can get in there. All in all, it was a good experience, and I would recommend it.
Terrible food at this place I was there yesterday I ask for pork and they give me beef. The shrimps smells bad like they are rotten.
We just celebrated our friends bday on Sunday, March 19, 2023. Brunch was $45/pp and we all paid $60/pp to include tax + tip for 16 people. Afterwards they said that they made a mistake and we all ended up paying $10 more. For the birthday they didnt orininally charge corking fee for a bottle we opened after paying the bill, but it seems they changed their mind and then they said that they made a mistake and pushed us to pay more. Personally since we all originally had paid well (IMHO) the burden was on them, but most guests were so upset that they paid more just to get it over with. I liked Don Coqui more when they were in New Rochelle, NY. I wont be coming back to this place.
I’ve been here several times for girls night out, and with my boyfriend, and they never disappoint!! The bistec with rice and beans is my go-to! It’s phenomenal and I highly recommend it!
Went here for new years, 2022, it was 65$ to walk in ( group of 6 =$390), the waiter didnt take notes, so my steak was done well, not medium rare as i asked. Well prepared food, with zero seasoning. I was thinking, its only 65$ a person, let me keep it to be nice. NOPE, they charged us for the meal as well. OK its new years, so they included a mandatory 20% tip. Sure no problem, but then they asked for an additional tip. Really? Then it was another 20$ each to party in the back. ( thats 65$ + 20$) Thats when I walked out. I used to love this place, now its just a rip off.
Came here for Sunday Brunch a couple weeks ago with my pregnant sister and her baby. Staff was very pleasant and waitress was very attentive. We were having troubling getting there and the lady who made our reservations (I believe her name was Maria) was so nice, understanding, and accommodating. Not to mention the food and sangria was amazing. Amazing experience, planning on coming back very soon!
Came in for my birthday had the best time ever thanks to our server ! The food was delicious. Definitely would recommend and come back again !
If I could give this place 0 stars, I most definitely would!First off… we ordered our drinks and food. Some of the drinks were way too sweet, as if they just mixed sugar with water only and no liquor. We asked if they could exchange the drink; given that the drink was still full, they said they can add more seltzer water. That did not fix the issue. They should have exchanged the drink completely. Anyways, I believe one of the managers told the waiter to just take off the drink. We had to ask the waiter not once but twice to take it off from the receipt. Not only that… but I personally had asked the waiter what he recommended and he gave me 2 options. The steak and salmon. Those were the two options that were also expensive. I ended up going with the cheeseburger sliders because I’m not a big eater. The Waiter then gave me an attitude; he said “is that what you really want?”I just stayed quiet because yes that’s why I asked for it because that’s obviously what I want. It was a dumb question to ask a customer! That comment was really rude to me and I’m never going back to this place.I’m very disappointed it this place. For the price of the food and because it was/is popular, I expected a better service and better dining experience.
I celebrated my 40th birthday at Don Coqui it was a group of 8 of us, we had dinner which was amazing, and we party all night. I love this place, food is always good, vibe is on point and the party is always the best.
It was disappointing, the service was slow, and the place was not full. I was expecting better quality food, my wifes dish was cold, and the meat was too hard to eat. The soda was flat. Horrible San Valentine and to make matters worse expensive 😡
Went there on Saturday and I was not impressed. I felt rushed as if there was a long wait for other patrons waiting to be seated and that was not the case. I wasnt even done with my meal when I had the waitress and busboy ask me if I was done. I was having a glass of wine and I didnt even finish it when It was taken from my table. This place is not cheap two adults and one child, spent close to $200 for such poor service and being rushed. Once the waitress gave us the receipt I was looking at it and the waiter comes asking me if there was an issue. I do have the right to look at my receipt. I will not go there again.
I reserved a table for a birthday and they were nice and service was good HOWEVER they charged $45 for every plate regardless of what it cost on the menu. The food wasnt that great, the location on the Hudson has much better food. Never again. Felt very ripped off.
Atmosphere was nice, great music. The food was very expensive and not worth the price. The drinks were extremely over priced. The servers were not attentive at all. Would not go back.
This place is an scam, we went there Saturday December 10 for a Christmas party, very disappointed, the food was horrible, a lot of us ordered Paella, the rice was not even cooked, the fish was smelly, the shells looked like they had taken all the meat and they had put just the shells, we had appetizers so bad, the drinks were weak and we had to pay $100 per person, what a scam.On top of that they charged for water at the bar.
Victor and lorena great service delicious food especially the mofongo
On 04/14/2021 we went there for a birthday dinner for my nice, we were party of about 9, from the moment they sat us at the table the person who took out order had an attitude, it seemed to me like when she was taking the order it bothered her that she had to go around and ask everyone what they wanted. Our food took over an hour to be served and when it got to the table, at least my food was cold and flavorless, the only thing I enjoyed was the calamari I ordered. Our bill came to almost $900 you think wed get better service for the amount of money spent.
I was a guest for a private event, paid for parking at a nearby street then went inside. When I asked the staff about their parking so I could move my car they could not tell me, the answers I got was that I could park on the street (which there were no spots available) or at the place where I already had my car...in addition the parking fee at that place had to be paid every couple of hours.... not good at all.The room was freezing cold, people were with their heavy jackets on even while they were going to the buffet and eating. Very uncomfortable. The food took long to be served, it was not too hot and not tasty, a lot of people left their plates almost full and I haven’t seen anyone going for second servings. When the desserts were served there were no plates, no napkins, no spoons or forks, and the coffee was served late.Another thing that made no sense was the DJ putting loud music while the party hosts where talking to their guests, when someone told him in advance that the host was going to speak.Terrible place to have a private party, I will never consider hosting any type of private event in such a place....Overall it was a bad experience.
Went for drinks at the bar, not knowing it was Happy Hour, when my bill came, Cash only after Happy Hour, I had to take out cash from their ATM,charged $4,,never again. Yes, I’ve eaten there many times, food is good.
Restaurant experience was terrible. I was supposed to meet my friends at the club side after they were done eating, but their food took over 2 hours to arrive!!! (no joke, no exaggeration) So, I end up waiting with them. While waiting, I ordered 1 beer and after 20 minutes I had to ask for it again... the waitress said that it was on its way... I ordered a Heineken, maybe it was stuck in customs. Finally, when my friends received their food, the waiters brought 2-3 plates every 15 minutes (our party was 14 people). The nightclub experience was not so bad. The DJ could have been better, but thats my personal taste. The issue is the kitchen... Its difficult to explain, but the waiters have to walk through the dance floor while carrying the food/plates... YES, the kitchen is located at the night club side and they have to constantly push people in order to get through.Restaurant: I dont recommend it. Also, the music is loud for a restaurant, but if you dont mind it (I dont), it should be OK.Night club: I would say, give it a try, you might enjoy it.
I was very disappointed that they didnt have any salads of the two listed on the menu, the waitress was arrogant and was making unnecessary comments about my date being too thin (who does that?). And on top of that they only take cash no cards, I understand the owners are trying to get away with not paying taxes but their ATM only allows you to get a maximum $160. What if the bill was bigger than that? Was I supposed to walk around looking for another ATM?Definitely not going back there, theres other better restaurants around.
The food is horrible. First off i celebrated my birthday and I had about 10 guests and the food was cold and it tasted old. They also added 20% gratuity to the bill automatically. I wouldnt recommend this restaurant for food only for their drinks. Trust these reviews when people are saying the food is cold and aint that good because its horrible. The food aint cheap either
Food was barely chewable and I had to cut my steak with a butter knife. Server never came back after the first drink to ask if I wanted another. Therefore I stuck with the water provided.
Restaurant was great. The ambiance is real cool, the music is on point, very modern and even their menu is entertaining(you gotta be there to see it)! It would be a 5 star if the guy got my friends order correct though. He’s messed up twice and I wish they accommodated more to things we wanted that weren’t on the menu. They go all our celebrating birthdays though, the owner was there and he gave them like a free dessert for the whole party of 8. Very good. Lots of young people go there and the women are cute.
Que venguensa. I revoke the name Don Coqui as a fellow Latina of Puerto Rican decent. What horrible service my family and I have experienced. We were waiting for almost an hour with no water or explanation of why there were no waiters available. At this point I believe the manager was cooking and taking orders. What a dumb of low lights and low staff. Y’all used to be poping in the days what a shame. Well good luck you’re going to need it!
Came to this establishment to celebrate my birthday and it was a total disaster. On top of waiting over an hour to be seated for a 8pm RSVP.... The waitress I felt attended more to my guest who was Hispanic and speaking Spanish than to me and the rest of the party. Top it off when the bill comes ...20% gratuity is added in ($95) and she didnt even earn that type of tip. I had to ask for a bottle of water 3 times. The anticipation and excitement me and my guest had to eat and party turned into a 2 hr wait to sit down to having limited options on the menu... To not only placing my order last to being served last and 800 bucks later getting in our vehicles and driving back upstate to go home!!!!! OH YEA LET ME ADD....MY BIRTHDAY TABLE AND SET UP WAS NOT SET UP I HAD TO ASK FOR WHAT WAS OFFERED TO ME WHEN RESERVATIONS WERE PLACED. Have not been back since
My girlfriend and I enjoyed dinner very much. The atmosphere was enjoyable. The people awesome that work there. Ambiance phenomenal but with great regret the music was too loud. Great music but too loud. The decible level were piercing our ears so couldn’t enjoy the music so we left earlier than what we wanted to. Small area with too many speakers all around for it to be really loud. I’ll go back for the food, drinks and ambiance but not for the club.
The Don Coqui in White Plains is amazing! Staff is extremely friendly. Maria assisted my brother and I setting up for a private event. She was extremely helpful and so patient with us! Shes such a beautiful person. The bartender who we had for the event, Amanda, such a doll! Definitely made the whole experience great. Food was great, no disappointments. Definitely a place Ill be returning and recommending.
Came for a Family members birthday, they got everything wrong and wanted to argue about they didnt make a mistake and someone in our party didnt even get their meal. Its the absolute worst experience. The owners brother argued in the womens faces trying to intimidate them. When they are the ones who messed up their entire order. Never been treated with such terrible attitudes and disrespect.
I attended my daughters Birthday dinner celebration at Don Coqui White Plains on 10/19/19 and it was lovely. The food was fresh and came out hot. The servers were excellent and very quick. Our party was a group of 52! The staff was excellent from Bianca, Event Coordinator, Alex, one of the Restaurant Manager to all the dedicated wait staff that were very attentive. Highly recommended!!!
I had an awful experience on my birthday. The service was the worst I ever had. The waiters Arnold Rosales should be fired. All he was doing was chasing the female waitress attention instead of doing his job. We had to wait for like 30 min to just order our appetizers. Once we ordered that he disappeared for another 20 min talking to the waitress. I walked over and saw him and thats when he walked to us. He then took the drink order and disappeared again. On top of him disappearing my bday dinner came out wrong not once but twice. I sent it back and told him I no longer wanted to eat. He didnt come back until we asked the waitress ( he spent all his time talking to chasing ) for the check out of disgust. This was my first time here and I will never come back here again.
I booked a private event d Chula and Maria took care of me and My family had the best time ever! i’m booking a second event in may! all I had to do was show up’ everything was done from the food, to decor and music! great food and drinks!
The steak was good but the Morro was bland...was told by someone that because my date was sick and it was her birthday, the 1st round of drinks were on the house.....that didnt happen and the empanadas was dry and the chicken ones had gristle in them. We had a good time but food has downgraded...
Appetizers not as described in menu. Seemed like leftovers. Main meal dishes arrived cold. Had to send back to reheat, basically came back the same. How does a Puerto Rican restaurant serve cold rice and beans. Steak also cold. Mgmt gave us the appetizer for free, but our birthday celebration was essentially ruined. Will not be returning.
Not good, bad service, food was cold.
Too expensive for nothing. 45 dollars each plate. I can see if the food was good, but it wasnt. The beans were mostly water, and the passion fruit was fake, tasted like water with colored sugar. I was very disappointed!
Good, stopped in on the way home. Snuck in before dinner rush, music was lively as you would expect, finner room atmosphere open and spacious. Waitress Wilda was friendly and made us feel welcome. We had the empanadas, beef and chicken, I liked the chicken more, others like the beef, both were tasty. Also had Seafood Paella, 3 stars because, I thought it was a bit pricey, but fed two who were not very hungry.
Came all the way from Brooklyn to White Plains to this place.... After 2 dirty wine glasses and our server never checking on us they had the nerve to add a 20% Gratuity to the Bill...The food wasnt nothing to brag about.....Sorry I wouldnt recommend to no one.....
Overpriced for the quality of food I was served. Appetizers were better than the main course. Ordered Pernil(roast pork shoulder) and it was under seasoned and mostly skin and fat. Ordered a sprite and got back seltzer water. The ambience was definitely a vibe but the food, not so much.
Went for a friends Birthday dinner with reservations and a pre fix menu which has been discussed and set up prior. 8 people total. After being seated we waited - I exaggerate you not - 2 hours to be served our appetizers. Then, the waiter “forgot” to put our entrees in. In total I wasted 4 hours of my life for mediocre food and drinks. They tried to smooth it over by giving us a round of shots and offering us a champagne bottle but at that point everyone in the party was frustrated and tired. We waited another 20 minutes for the bill. We realized at that point they charged us $3 per bottle of water after we asked for tap water and they REFUSED to serve it to us. Saying they don’t “serve tap water” which is illegal in NYS. At the end of it all we wasted $600 total of our hard earned money for deplorable and unapologetically subpar service. Needless to say I’ll never return.
Not what it use to be. Less food but tastes good. They use to give plantains with sauces while you wait, they dont anymore. I feel cheated I brought my wife there telling her how amazing this place is and we were both disappointed. I dont see my self going back. Maybe if I am invited to go but even then I will try to convince them to go elsewhere.
It took over 30 minutes for our food to come. When the food finally arrived, the mashed potatoes lacked soooo much flavor. They didnt put milk in it, just water and potatoes not even a dash of salt. My shrimp was in water. Im saying water and not gravy because there was zero seasoning. The rice was cold. The drinks were just okay. I we went to celebrate a birthday but could you image we had to go to a diner after to eat??? It was the only place that was open at that hour. The manager did comp one of the meals and gave us drinks on the house but to be honest that wasnt enough. It ruined the birthday dinner. For the prices they charge, the food needs to be better. I told our waitress Amanda we were freezing. She said shell speak to someone to see if we could move but she never came back. She wasnt attentive what so ever. At the end, she was so eager to see if we left her a tip or not that she litterly snatched the bill from under my hand. I didnt tell her she could get it? The whole experience was frustrating!!!!!
For years the skirt steak has been cooked to perfection! Unfortunately, today it was disappointing. If purchasing quality meat is the issue, I am fine with a smaller piece of meat. The service and drinks were good. I hope DC is revamped soon.
Was not an enjoyable experience. Ive been here several times before and always great food and nice atmosphere. Took my parents for Fathers Day brunch buffet and I wish I hadnt. The food was very limited for a buffet, there should have been more options available. No separate menu was available either. The food display seemed unorganized. Had to call someone to get me a serving spoon for various dishes. No one even checked on our table other than to serve our drinks. Only positive comment is that the food they did have was very good. However, from a place of this quality I expected more variety and better service. On past experience, I would recommend dinner at Don Coquis, but STAY AWAY from their Sunday Brunch...definitely does not live up to their reputation.
Too pricey for sub par food n service...Ive been to other Don Coqui establishments, in fact, Ive been to the first one in New Rochelle and that was way better in every way. We still had fun but definitely not to the standard that Don Coqui is known for
Our experience was absolutely horrible! We were there for a birthday celebration. From the start the hostess was rude, someone who took the reservation, NEVER wrote it down! So we came from CT and were told we had no table reserved. Then the manager came over and was just as rude!Once we were finally seated, our food came the waiter took orders, then came back with the food, the children at the table were full, instead of asking the adults at the table...he asked the 8 yr old, and the waiter proceeded to throw away his food!!! Next the Childs mom asked the waiter why did you do that, he was extremely rude, and said he doesnt understand English...well my friend is Puerto Rican!!!!!!!! I will NOT be returning.
I had brunch with my family at this location. Food was cold, found hair in the velvet cake and the service was non existent. They charged a 20% gratuity on my bill for horrible service. I just wanted to leave that place. I would not recommend this place for brunch. Music was lively but I went for the food not music.
I went to Don Coqui for the first time last night and it will definitely be my last time. We were a party of 2 and paid appx 200$ for 2 entrees and 2 drinks. This place is overly expensive for no reason. Beware! They don’t list drink prices, when I got my bill my 2 Henny punches cost 35$ a piece and my cousin had a Henny colada same size and only paid 16$. I told the waitress it had to be a mistake because we both had watered down Henny drinks and mine cost more…she said my size drink was bigger now mine u me and my cousin had the same size cups so I knew she was lying. I could have purchased a bottle. I’m sure they only used maybe a shot in each Henny punch yet I was charged more than the price of a full bottle. They don’t put the drink prices on the menu for a reason, they charge you what they feel. Also the birthday flan and birthday singing cost! They charged me 9$ for that. The ambiance is nice and the food was mediocre. You’re better off going to salsa con fuego or else where to avoid the disappointment. Give it a couple years before they shut down because they are robbing people! BBQs drinks are better and much cheaper. I did not enjoy myself, in fact we left out early although I wanted hookah and a few more drinks, I’m sure that would have been a couple more hundred dollars. Be consistent with your pricing and stop robbing folks! List all prices! They also charge gratuity for party’s of 4 or more or if your bill is more than 100$ so yeah our gratuity was more than 30$. This place is overrated and not worth the money spent and I’m not a cheap person at all but 70$ for 2 drinks, u gotta be kidding me.
One star is too much for the experience for this evening. As I wrote this review in the restaurant, its 1:07am. Our party of 9 came in at 11pm. We have yet to get our food despite ordering over.. More than an hr ago. Our waitress has been as accommodating as possible.. Yet, we havent been able to speak to her manager. From what Ive seen, the wait staff gets yelled at by angry customers while the manager hides and lets them take the brunt of it. I suggest they hire better management to run the business because as of this moment, its utterly horrible. Ultimately, its not the waiters/waitresses fault, theyre doing what they can. As for the drinks, theyre juice with a splash of liquor.
Food was just okay. Mash Potatoes had no flavor, the mixed veggies was hard as a rock. You ask for a glass of water they bring you a bottled water and charge $3.00 for it. Salmon was okay and so was the rice and beans. Came all the way from Harlem and was highly disappointed. It happened to be my birthday the day I went it was nothing to brag about
I absolutely love this place! The food is amazing!!! Their salmon is to die for-- its mouthwatering. Im not too fond of their drinks though. The music can be a bit loud, and the lights are very dimmed, however, well lit menus are provided to order. Overall, I still highly recommend this place.
Solely based on the lounge **I had my birthday event here at night and I had such a great time. Fast, quick service, no drama. The owner Rene is a great man, much respect to him!!My only complaint would be they should switch up the music a little, they only play salsa.. a little diversity would be appreciated! And it can get very hot in here as it gets crowded!Other than that, if you’re looking for bottle service in the Westchester area and dont wanna travel to the city, this is the spot for you!
This place was HORRIBLE. We went on 1/20 and had reservations for a party of 10. The server gave us menus , took our orders and never came back to see if we were okay or anything. We were there from 7:30 pm until 10. He gave us our check and was so cold . He knew he was getting guaranteed gratuity from the party size so he didn’t care. I was going to argue the gratuity but didn’t want to embarrass my guest. We waited for 45-1 hour for our food after being told it takes 20 mins to make. The place was not busy there were 4 tables including ours and it was a ghost town so no excuse. When our food came it was cold, did not have the right condiments and we were displeased . The food taste good although my snapper was salty. The liquor was watered down and one didn’t taste right . This was my first and last time there . My friends who had gone before said the service was horrible. The front lady receptionist was the best in there . The other staff was cold and not knowledgeable. I speak Spanish although I look black but these people didn’t even try to engage us or smile or anything. I wish I could make a corporate complaint this is how bad this visit was. Our bill was nearly 500. They charged us extra if we didn’t use cash. Cash for a 500 bill like really in 2020. They said it’s a new rule implemented by NYC. A 4% credit card surcharge . Like who is there merchant services for their card processing . I work in a bank and even our fees are lower than that . This place was straight trash. I will not stop until I report this to corporate. Shame on you all and your staff in the White Plains office . Ruined my bday celebration!
Bartender is always great, the food was good. The reason Im giving it a 2 star is that after years of going there, now Im feeling Im being treated unfairly. The last 3 times Ive gone Ive felt Ive been treated diffrent diffrent than other groups by security. After tonight, Ive decided not to go back.
The worst food ever. Had a birthday dinner party of 12 , they don’t tell you in advance that you could only order from a prefixed meal, and on top of that the food was horrible. I should have known right from the start when they brought out twice two different types of sodas and both were flat. I gave a one star only because I couldn’t write a review without one. Waitress was not very helpful and bathroom stalls were filthy and the worker in the bathroom was sleeping. Worst pernil, arroz con gandules, steak with onions, and appetizers were bad too. Don’t waste your $ on this place.
It was my first at this place. Never coming back to eat. The drinks are so expensive! The food takes so long to arrive. We didn’t like our waitress Maria. Don’t get me wrong but if you’re going to serve water or just keep refilling our cups at least say “excuse me” don’t just proceed to refill our cups without saying anything is rude. Also when my friends and I were looking at the check to make sure we had the right amount Maria just came and grabbed the bill with the money. Again, she did not show any manners. Then she came to us and told us “I’m missing some $” clearly we were still counting.
Okay so I always try to be objective. The decor and ambiance is inviting, something I was expecting from looking at the pictures. The food was seasoned right and the sangria was thirst quenching. I could not take the music, Im not a great fan of Spanish music, especially when it is being blasted at club level and they played it the entire time we were there, which made it hard to have a conversation across the table. There was not enough chicken dishes being served, or should I say one chicken dish is not enough. Overall I liked my visit, would I go back, no thanks. No I wouldnt recommend going, it just wasnt worth the price to me.
I was hesitant to eat here for my BDAY last week based in the ratings and reviews but decided to try it out. The food was AMAZING!! The restaurant area was not too crowded on the Friday night which was great and my friend and I enjoyed the food so much. Their fried calamari was one of the best Ive had and the T-bone steak was perfection. The waiters were super friendly. I would definitely say this was one of the highlights of my night.
Positive experiences in the past but something has definitely changed for the worse. Placed a takeout order today, which took nearly 30 minutes longer than communicated when ordering. It appeared there was an event at the restaurant so the delay is understandable, but should have been communicated either when we ordered or alerting us to that later. Part of our order was incorrect, which we did not discover until we got home. Remainder of food alternated between surprisingly bland or downright terrible. Very disappointed.
Went there for our groups holiday lunch. Probably our worst lunch ever.We ate at the club area in the dark with a strobe light flashing.Food wasnt bad, but it wasnt good. Staff kept taking our plates away while we were still eating.Asked for 2 waters, got 2 mojitos, which is great except that we wanted water. The dessert was tiny pieces of flan cut into 4 bite sized pieces.
Went here last Friday for my sisters birthday with a party of 15. The server overcharged the table and my credit card that already had added gratuity when I signed the receipt had a additional charge a few days after I left that I did not authorize. I called Monday I was told someone would get back to me the next day and not a single call or reach out. Just a note to customers who are paying with cards to be cautious it seems that the waiters may be taking out additional non authorized funds. It wasn’t about the amount either just the peinceipal if someone in the establishment of a very high volume restaurant that this should have been handled WAY better.A week has gone by and still no call … beware debit and credit card users.
I give 2 stars for the atmosphere. But it’s really bummed making a reservation for someone’s birthday And our waiter was barely coming to check on us. We needed things to eat our food and she did not come to see if we were ok. I had to hunt her down by the door each time to ask for something we needed. That was bad service for a 67$ gratuity to be added. I spent about 500$ on dinner and the food was bad. The Salmon on the prefix menu was the dryest most unseasoned ever. My steak was smothered in sauce and I could barely chew it. I didn’t want to embarrass my table by sending the food back but it’s a shame that they didn’t get to enjoy it while I spent my money. Last but not least, the birthday name on the menu was spelled wrong. How embarrassing. And the menu was never made for us before arriving. Making a reservation here is pointless. The location in queens was much better.
I went to celebrate my birthday wth a few friends. The food came cold and at different times, we paid for pre fixed and supposedly they had no skirt steak which was what a few of us wanted. We were almost choking on our appetizer because the waiter gave us plastic cups full of ice with no water until we had to ask at least 4 times and wait about half hour. Everytime we tried to ask for something she walked away and even gave one of the guests a wrong drink and wouldnt change for her. I went here because it recommended by a friend but never again. Horrible food, horrible service. Also after $900 bill you have to pay for bottles if you want to go to the dance floor.
Let Me Preface my review with, 3 times requirement for a Contract of commitment of arrival. Proposed Dress code Most Definitely NOT enforced! My Wife and I attended for our 10yr Wedding Anniversary. Huge Mistake. We Live 1hr and 25min away and thought it would be an encouraging night! The outside decor seemed to welcome you at first. Inside had white bench seating with evidence wear and tear ( Club Goers!).Now to the wait for Drinks and Food! The (1) waitress available was most definitely overwhelmed! We waited 20min. To Place and Order, and when my Johnny Walker arrived.... it was in a “Plastic Cup, with a Bendy Straw!!”I immediately started a timer after ordering our Appetizer ( Buffalo wings) and our Meal! Appetizer Took 35min to arrive, meal took 1hr. 13min. After.I ordered the Surf and Turf for an online price different than what I received! The waitress cam back to inform my Wife and I there were no more Lobsters! My Wife’s order Paella is full of seafood, most prominently....LOBSTER!Ok, so Now more than irritated with the service and meal changes I give this location and Franchise its Only Saving Grace! The Food was Terrific! Savory and well prepared!NOW the Check, Overage charges and mandatory gratuity! I feel the $14 discount proposed was insufficient. I had no problem paying premium for a Wow Experience. I was by Far, No Where Near WOW!I Most certainly Never return and will Never Recommend this Establishment to anyone other than for Delicious Takeout!
The spot itself is nice, the music 5 stars, the service considering the dinning section was pretty empty 3 stars compared to the lounge area, but honestly im writing this because this has been the only place i ever been to, where the appetizer ceviche was the same as the entrees. The ceviche itself was great for 1 person, but $24? I should have listened when i was told it was like commercialized spanish food, my dates churrasco was dry and a bit tasteless, but yhe sauce on top made it up for it. Lastly, i love rum, and or johny walker gold, neither of which were available, but the drinks are what youd expect to find nearby a white girl dorm room bar.
I stoped going for a long time. But, we went today and our experience was great. The Dj played classic latino and todays hits of music to dance. Bartenders where friendly. The owner was very friendly it makes you feel welcome. Great latin place in the heart of White Plains. I highly recomend this place!
That this the worst restaurant I’ve ever been and let me tell you how bad the service was. Waiter messed up most of the drinks and took one hour to bring just one drink…they didn’t have most of the food 🙄🙄what kind of restaurant has no wings, lobsters, mash potatoes and more that I don’t remember. We were a party of 8. They told us after taken our order 40mns after that they didn’t have them, had us waiting all this time just to find out we had to re-order other food…very disappointed if I could give a negative 5 I would..
The reason I am giving two stars is because last time I went the churrasco and the passion fruit mojitos were the only items on the menu that kept me happy. I went few months ago to this location and there were a lot of items on the menu missing the waitress keep telling us there were missing a lot of the ingredients because supposedly they had a huge party over the weekend okay we made it work with whatever they had. My girlfriend and I went back few weeks back and that is it I won’t be going back anymore the waitress brought the menu and I was so confused I was like this is the menu? There was only like 5 items on a small piece of paper. She said they were missing ingredients and the order for the food was not placed 😑 what ? I wanted to leave but my girlfriend wanted to stay and make it work I ordered the churrasco with moro like I mentioned above the churrasco was perfect the Moro not so much. They are also very overprice if you are going to be so limited with the food you matter as well have the food discounted since I gotta create my own menu. Won’t be coming back here.
They will rob you for you money. If you want to try this place is best to go during the week when they have the 28 dollar specials. Other than that the food and drinks are super over price . They even charge for a service fee if paying with a credit card. The food is not great better off going to a Boston market if you want chicken or a corner Spanish restaurant. Not worth it at all don’t waste your money or time . My husband payed $160 on Valentine’s dinner including all the fees like credit card charge, tax and gratuity . Terrible experience especially driving down from Hartford the 😩
Went for brunch and was served a mimosa in a dirty glass. Also they servedthe tiniest portion of family styleappetizers on one plate for 6 people.Definitely not family style unless yourfamily is two people. Then there was hairin the rice. Finally, when trying to pay andleave before the rest of the party, I wastold that I couldnt. What kind ofestablishment doesnt accept payment onan outstanding bill? I guess they rather letyou leave without paying 🤷🏻♀️ Definitely donot recommend at all.
Visited the place on a Saturday being recommended by a Friend. We were a group of 7. They said the bar was closed as it was a private party. Then the guy at the door said he will speak with the manager to try to accommodate it for us. A Spanish guy came out and told us that they could get us in only if we spent at least 600 dollars for a table of two bottles and only for two hours. If we wanted to stay longer we would have to buy an additional bottle for an additional 300 dollars. That is insane. These are discrimination practices that must be stopped. Management should pay attention to this.
Good music, drinks and food. We went on a saturday night and it wasnt as crowded as a club in the city, so we were able to enjoy ourselves. My only complaint would be that they ask you for your ID twice. First at the entrance and then they ask you again when you walk into the dance area. Ive no idea why. You already showed your ID to get in.
Booked a party for 12 family members birthdays. Went by website on the brunch menu. Once we arrived the menu was totally different it was more of a Dinner Menu. Most of the group were young people who had their heart set on the brunch menu shown on the website which leaned more towards breakfast food. So after ordering what was on the new menu no one hardly touched their food.so you could imagine how that went after dropping almost $1000.And if menu reads Pork chops with do we only get 1 chops is plural for 2 or more. Very petty charge separately for everything. how are you going to offer white but beans at an additional price. and no tap water only bottles. We go out to offend and always get a glass of water at no charge..We will never visit here again and I will not recommend this place
This was my first time going to Don coqui and let me just say the service here is good and it was a very lit vibe as soon as I walked in I could feel the vibe was up there and when I went to the lounge area I was right. The food was really good I ordered mofongo con pernil and it was good the waiters and everyone there was very nice and respectful and would always be there for us if we had a question about anything at all im definitely going back. The only thing I didn’t like was that the lounge area was kind of a bit small but that’s not a big deal. I highly recommend you to come here I was skeptical at first cause of the reviews but what people wrote in the reviews is not how it is when you actually go.
First time dinning at their restuarant. My wife and I came to join her brother on his birthday celebration. I am writing this at the table and havent left out of courtesy to rest of the party. The service has been horrible and the staff has looked frantic and overwhelmed. I clearly can understand difficult circumstances that arise in the restuarant business. However, simple things such as the courtesy of staying attentive by the wait staff would go a long way in calming our mounting frustration. Something as simple as filling our water glasses isnt much to ask. The manager came by twice with a false promises of assistance. We order our main course and it took about and hour and a half to see signs of our waiter and our food. I can not critique the food because I returned my dish for I lost my appetite due to the excessively long wait. I gave it a star because I didnt taste the food and dont feel it is fair to penalize their chefs for poor management and performance. I do no recomend this establishment for parties or celebrations. As someone who assesses and consults different businesses, my impression is that further training and a change in their philosophy when it pertains to customer service and satisfaction.
This place is racist. First we were added to our friends guest list. When we got through bouncers we were forced to do coat check even though everyone in front of us and behind us walked in unbothered wearing hoodies, Jean jackets, and and coats. I asked security why we had to check our coats in they told me if you are friends or family of the owner they will allow coats. Weird…As we spent our money at the bar we were still being harassed by the bouncers. They told us we couldn’t walk through the “vip sections” which was only a couple of tables that were already difficult to maneuver around. Towards the end of the night one of the security guys kept tapping me on the shoulder trying to tell me to stand somewhere else. Terrible staff, establishment, and experience.
Went to the Brunch. Great food and atmosphere. Would have given it a 5 had there been a few vegetables on the plate. Lots of meat and rice but no veggies. A few pieces of brocolli would have sufficed. We had a plate full of appetizers. Yummy. Then we had the baked chicken with yellow rice. A veggie would have been nice to have on the plate.
