Level 5 at City Stage

I was here for a Neebs Gaming event in the middle of January. The bar is fantastic with reasonably priced drinks and a great bartender. Nothing beats the view as you have an open rooftop view of both the river and the Battleship North Carolina. The theater is small compared to the Palace, but it is far larger than I was expecting to see in a bar scene. The sound quality was amazing and there was absolutely no stuffiness that you sometimes get in small theaters. Im not sure Id enjoy the open-aired bar as much in the humid summer months, but I can say the dead of winter was spectacular.Also note: the elevator works, it is slow and just takes a while. I didnt know until I walked all the flights of stairs and got to the top just as I heard the doors ding open.

Its a great atmosphere. It overlooks the river you can see the battleship USS North Carolina cross from it and they have live music on Sunday nights plus I work here so you can come and see me

The music was very versatile... They played dang near every genre of music that was popular and it worked. If you like versatility in your music this is a great spot. We spoke to one of the owners and he was working really hard doing everything from elevator attendant to cleaning the dance floor (really nice guy by the way). We made a few suggestions and he already had a plan set in place for improvements. If Im ever in Wilmington again I would definitely go back!

We was there last night, good variety of music and nice atmosphere. We chose not to get any drinks as we noticed roaches crawling on the bar! Luckily we had been to a few bars earlier so were good. This place is infested with roaches on the bar chairs and on the stsirs leading up to level 5. Apart from this it was great! Note to manager get pest control in before someone calls enviromental health.

I like this place. Its now called Rooftop bar, not Level 5. They have a guy that works the elevator so you dont have to climb the stairs. Drinks are fine, music is good. I love dancing and looking out over the water. Indoor/Outdoor, Good times.

Where do I begin, oh I know, let me get you caught up. First off, Me personally I am in nice pants and a very nice button up shirt. I go in this bar pay a cover $5, so what and $1 for membership 👌🏻 Now I’m in this bar waiting about 30 minutes to even get looked at by a bar tender okay cool I’m 6’4” guess you missed me. I buy excess amounts of drinks for myself, the DJ, and typically friends and women with me because I don’t plan on waiting an hour for another drink 😑 so I had to stay with my drinks at the bar and my friends had left so since I wanted to leave I offered my drinks to anyone and then I proceeded to the bathroom to tinkle and came out the door with a security guard in my face!!! Saying, I had to leave because I was accused of slipping ruffies. I tried stating that I would never do something like that or even seen this drug in my entire life!!! I asked to get my debit card and the security guard said I could not. Fast forward, I left the establishment and waiting for them to produce my debit card with officers 👮‍♀️👮 next to me. And here’s the kicker that really set me off but I controlled my self. The gentlemen, well now he’s scum to this earth; because when he gave me my debit card he called me a pedophile! I’m 25 and didn’t even approach any females in this bar which by the way was 21 and up! 😤I feel very insulted and will never return to this establishment ever again.

It was a great experience. The staff were professional, the atmosphere was vibrant. I will possibly go again. Dress whatever way you want, very calm relax atmosphere. Down side is you just do not know whose with who. Great place.

Bathrooms are definitely not up to health code conditions. Id checking people discriminate who they let in and who they don’t. Bar tenders charge different prices for the same drink to different people. And the dj does not satisfy the crowd. They have one elevator that they shut off when they want to and force people to take the stairs. Definitely has gone downhill.

A bar that reminds me of my college days, but with an older crowd. Go figure. They have dancing, DJ was ok. A fight broke out while there so take that into consideration. Drink prices were reasonable and the view is nice if youre there at sunset, probably the only two redeeming things.

I went out last night and I was told that I wad banned without an explanation. I only been to this club 3 times this year and I’ve never done anything to get myself banned because I would’ve remembered. But It’s ok cause this is the LAST club I would pick to go to anyways, I just wanted to know why I was banned without an explanation.

Glad to see all age groups on the rooftop, plenty of steps to the top but there was an elevator (for those wearing heels). Good views of the river may be during the day. DJ was popping off some oldies & some newer lesser known hits. The bartender gave generic rum that taste like perfume. Place kindof smelled bad & there were too many short military guys. Atmosphere makes for a good GNO tho.

Such a beautiful view! Servers, bouncers, ownership -- everything is well taken care of. I would definitely recommend the view and a drink or few while in downtown Wilmington.

Used to be a great place to go. Couldnt get to the bar to get a drink. People fighting in the bathrooms especially the womans you could hear them from the hall. Watched a bouncer beat a dude up way to excessive. I would recommend finding somewhere else.

Love the bartenders attire, very practical. Mimosa was the right amount of OJ. For all you single ladies, men in Crocks and socks is allowed here, so game on. Would like some more seating on the deck. 4 stars.

The bar tenders were amazing, the music fun, the elevator scary, but an adventure. I had one of best times in my life at this bar on my trip in North Carolina. I will always recommend it!

I would not ever go there. The man at the door would not let the guest I was with in because he had on white pants. He had on a button down blue shirt and white jeans. He was also black. He let in a group of white men in with whites shorts. It was obvious racial discrimination.

If I could rate lower than one star I would. I was looking for my friends when I go cut off by a large dolly full of ice bags. Two security members started offloading it onto the bar. Being courteous I took a step back into a corner so they could do their job and offload the ice. The first worker saw me and kept working. The second worker attempted to let me get out of the corner but I told him its not a problem. I put both hands up and took a step further back into the corner and state when he is done with the ice Ill move. Instead of just finishing the job, he puts his ice bag on the counter then grabs me by my shirt. He yanks me out of the corner ripping buttons off my shirt. Naturally I shoved him back asking him who he thought he was pushing me around like that for no reason. There was no reason for him to grab me because I wasnt in his way. Then I have two bouncers swoop in pretty quickly to separate us. I start getting told I have to leave. I asked for what I did nothing wrong. In a classic trap move they have a female security come up and grab my arm attempting to push me out. I stated I would not go anywhere until I spoke to someone in managment. Apparently ripping your arm out of someones grasp is the same thing as hitting someone in this bar and because its a girl its worse. Like I said before TRAP. As soon as I tear my arm from her grip I hear Hes putting hands on her! They use it as an excuse to jump me. I had two guys on me. The same one who initially grabbed me unprovoked, pushed me down and grabbed my leg. He put me in an ankle lock and continued to increase pressure even as I told him I would comply. I thought he was going to break my ankle. Even today I can barely walk on it. Then he puts me in choke and proceeds to push me down the stairs as I continue to tell him he has me and I will comply. This treatment by the security of this place is truly disgusting. It was a blatant abuse of power that was done unprovoked. Either the security staff is bored or having a power trip. Even as I was escorted out I was not told why I was being kicked out. I have half a mind to press charges for assault as Im sure there were multiple cameras and you can see clearly I was attacked by trigger happy security staff looking for some action. Never in my life have I been kicked out of a bar or any other establishment for that matter. I am an Uber driver and when people ask me where they should go downtown I generally tell them The Husk or Level 5. But no longer. After this gross misconduct I will take my business elsewhere and encourage everyone else to do the same.

You want a view and a beverage, indoors or outdoors, here it is. This used to be a masonic temple in the late 1800s, they have condos on four floors and the fifth floor is divided into a bar and a theatre.

They have a problem with women wearing everything!!!! I’ve been goin there for years an all of a sudden now we can’t even wear our club wear!!! Horrible place to go!!! I have a membership an I cant wear a club body suit like wat if I can’t wear a dress ..then wat !!! Never again I want my 1$ back from my membership lol 😤😡🤣

If I could rate less than one star I would. Thisplace has always been a disappointment and I have given them enough chances. First off, I ordered 1 PBR and it came in an overflowing plastic cup for $8 (way overpriced) which spilt all over my hands. I asked for a napkin and 4mins later the bartender handed me his dirty RAG in his back pocket (Im a server so I know where thats been)! Ten minutes later my cousin went outside to make a phone call and the bouncers yelled at her that she couldnt come back if she left. She asked if that was really true and they said of course thats true you f****** B*tc* And then provoked her further by following her down the stairs calling her a sl*t and telling her to go F*** herself. As soon as I heard them say that I stayed back and asked to speak to the owner. I waited and had to ask for the owner for 15mins until the bouncers told me that they would have me escorted out by a man who has a Black Belt in Karate. I simply replyed why are you threatening me with black belt violence when I only asked to speak to the owner? After a few more minutes I dedicided to walk away when one bouncer yelled at me and told me to never come back or hed F***!! Me up and Id regret it. When I turned around to say something the owner was right there telling me that he could talk now. After telling him everything, he told me it was their job to behave that way and I could leave. So thats exactly what I did and will never enter that degrading place again and I advise everyone to do that same. Extremely disappointing.

With the opening of Cloud 9 atop Embassy Suites, Level 5 is comparatively a dive bar now. Once having the highest views, now is in shambles. While it’s cheaper than Cloud 9 it’s really no longer worth the 5 flights of stairs you have to hike when the elevator is broken (which is always).

You have to be a member to get a drink here, but membership is a dollar. The views from this rooftop bar are great. The drinks arent too bad either.

The view is incredible. There is little seating. The crowd was 20s through 50s and it was very crowded on Saturday night. The drink prices are surprisingly reasonable.

Go to place for downtown Wilmington. Walk up 5 stories or take elevator (cheating) and see most of downtown from the rooftop! Good drinks, dancing, good time. Cant miss it

City Stages productions are a treasure for this town. Ive traveled quite a bit and Wilmington, NC theater is just as good as what youll find in New York, Boston, Chicago, LA for half the price. Do yourself a favor and go!!

Great views, bar staff is lackluster, and the fact that they shut down the elevator sucks when you have to get a drunk member down 5 flights of stairs.
