Ill go back, nice manager, nice massage, very very relaxing room, oils are good, bed is warm &menthol is great. When I was done my body felt like I was asleep &had line marks all over even my face😂 but left me really sore &triggered more my back pain so I let my bf massage me instead every day before going back again , definitely recommend for starting! Fair price, 50$ an hour

Ive had so many fantastic massages over a span of 30 years and NEVER have I felt injared after having one of those massages like I did, when and long after I left this place. I would not recommend attending Hands of Joy if youre looking to get relaxed and have a feel good massage ... this is not your place.

Had called out of work because my back was killing me. I Called for available appointments and the owner took me in as soon as possible. Nicest man ever!! Jessica, I believe who I had, beautiful red hair, did an amazing job. Was very communicative about what she was going to do and if i needed her to take it easy or not for the deep tissue massage. I trusted her fully. Her hands are magic! Nice community, good pricing, great environment 👍🏻

Guliana is probably the best massage therapist I’ve ever worked with. There’s a big difference when someone actually takes pride in their work. It seems when you go to most places they put as little effort as possible. I finally got to experience what a true deep tissue should feel like. I definitely recommend.

I went with my daughter and the girl massaging her kept stopping to text on her phone. Shed leave it on the table and had it on vibrate so it kept shaking the whole thing when it would go off. There was commotion going on in the hallway and they kept opening the door and talking to someone out there. There was no sheet to cover yourself with. We paid for an hour and they only spent 45monutes on the massage, including interruptions. Find another place to go. This place is horrible.

🤞 back pain sucksUPDATE: After being in horrible pain for weeks while waiting on Physical Therapy..I popped over to Hands Of Joy Massage Therapy.I am so thankful I did!I had great relief from low back pain (due to a broken back I suffered years ago- no disc 4th 5th lumbar results in flare ups every year or 2) and neck pain (Broken neck years ago).If you are in need of a pain relieving massage or would just like to relax, I definitely recommend this business. My massage therapist was very professional and skilled. The classical music was a bonus.In fact, even after I get back to PT, I will continue to make appointments here.👍 👍~Tammy Johnston

Glad I went to Hands of Joy for my first time getting a massage. The place was clean, the people were nice and super professional. Got there about 5 min late so they took it out of our 60 min massage, which was totally fine because other people also have appointments and I would like the same accommodation and courtesy as the next so we completely understood. Plus you cant beat the price. Most definitely will be back!

This was my first time here. It was amazing. I did the hot stone massage. It was done by Clarissa. She was so kind and sweet. When I first walked in I was greeted than sat in the waiting room. It’s so calm and relaxing in the waiting room I almost fell asleep. I made sure I booked another appointment before I left. It’s been about 10 hours since my massage and I still feel great! Thanks again.

I have only been here twice to date but those two visits were very therapeutic. The technicians, which by the way, were different ladies each time, were very professional and provided the exact pressure that I had requested. The facility is extremely clean and Located in a business building with many other medical type practitioners. The prices for a massage are amazing and no one can complain about that. They do not offer any extras so don’t go there thinking you’re going to have a cup of tea after your massage.The reason for a four star rating is due to the fact that they seem to be extremely overbooked and even when making an advanced appointment, you may need to sit there for quite some time until your masseuse arrives for your appointed time.

WOW! Valerie is fantastic! Ive dealt with back pain due to Construction related injuries for the better part of 15 yrs, and Valerie stepped up to the challenge. Without hesitation she went to work! Professional in every aspect she was able to pinpoint and apply Trigger point Therapy( I think thats what she called it)! She found places in my hips, shoulders, and lower back that I had no idea even existed. I have to be honest, with the cost($50) I didnt expect anything close to experience I received! Her ability to navigate and work the areas that needed trigger work all while keeping the overall massage relaxing and kinda fun! Oh and her Massage table was uber cozy! Thank you Valerie and the Staff @ Hands of Joy! Ill be back in two weeks!

First time w my partner we got a couples massage deep tissue since we have such sore backs we’re first time parents, was told to arrive a few mins before so we did but still weren’t seen until 5 mins after our appointment so not sure why we had to come early and for a deep tissue i was quite disappointed. she didn’t go into any of my knots at all and was just hard to relax my massage lady was more focused on sitting on her chair and massaging me more than actually massaging me i feel like. and cut our time short like 5 mins before the 60 min so pretty much got massaged for 50 mins if that? clean place though and nice man in the front! Nice scenery wouldn’t come back though

Rude appointment scheduler. I did forget I had the appointment today and thats why Im paying an outrageous 25$ fee(almost the amount of the massage which I doubt goes to the mt). That being said, the guy on the phone was completely rude and didnt care. No reminders have been sent to me, I only got a text message 5 mins after my scheduled appointment time. People dont try going to a massage place to add drama to their life.

This was my second visit to this location and its simply amazing. The office and staff are friendly. The prices are VERY reasonable and the owner who also makes the appointments is very patient when explaining the various services they provide.Seriously this place is legit! They offer professional massage therapy which is a good thing due to so many other places making the art of massage something trashy.I will definitely return and HIGHLY recommend anybody needing a true relaxing massage to give this place a try.

My experiences awesome I received a call shortly after I sent a message regarding an massage on my birthday. Whats my appointment confirmed I was giving the daytime and address I had a little bit of time finding the place due to the construction on 24th Street but everything was perfect once I arrived I was directed to Catherine who asked if I wanted a deep tissue massage or a Swedish massage. I chose the deep tissue massage and was directed the chill room or I undressed and left my underwear on undress and left my underwear on and laid on a warm bed. Their soft music and soft lighting as Catherine begin to massage my body with oil I relax and allowed to ambiance of the room to take over. she massage not that of my hands legs back and neck places Ive never thought that I had tensioner stress that she was able to make the pain disappear in my body. she was very professional and polite I will definitely be coming back. I will recommend her to my friends at the anyone else who wants a great massage. The staff at the front desk was very polite and courteous I was able to reschedule me along with giving me free sample.

Before coming here I had tried a different location for a Prenatal massage and was not very impressed. Decided to try HOJ for a prenatal massage given good reviews and was luckily paired up with the amazing Juilliana. She is remarkably kind, professional, and fantastic at her craft. I will definitely be recommending her to my friends and family 👍🏽

Ive been coming here for a while. All of the massage therapists here are awesome but my favorite is Ronnie. She does great work. I get deep tissue massages. She has great technique and my pain always feels better after getting a massage by her. I really recommend coming here instead of anywhere else in town.

Should be Hands of Heaven. Ive had Massages literally all over the World. These Masseuses know what theyre doing. Definitely well worth it. Went in with aching Sciatica, T band pain, lower back, neck, etc. Feel like a Million $ and yes I did tip them. (Well deserved) Close to my House also, Im Totally stoked. Make an appointment If you hurt like I did. Theyre honestly awesome. Youll thank Me.

The place is clean and priced reasonably, the girls are very friendly and professional. Ive found a place in Oxnard I REALLY love and seem to compare everyone else to them, and they never compare, however, locally this place is a go to. Only issue, the guy who takes the calls and works the front desk and takes payments. He is unprofessional, not friendly nor welcoming. Walked in the door today with a friend for my birthday massage and first thing he says to her is are you sick!? Granted she had a cough, she wasnt sick, just that lingering cough...but why is that the first thing out of your mouth when clients come through the door? He was rude on the phone when scheduling, too. Hes dry and if people dont come back you can be sure hes to blame.Massage 4 stars! Guy working the desk 1 star.

Such an amazing experience. Booking can be hard since they are full most of the time, but its really worth it. Building is small as is the waitroom, but again, worth the experience. Joy (the owner) is absolutely amazing, Ive gone in for the prenatal and she really works out all the kinks and soreness. Price is low compared to other massage salons.

Great relaxing experience....already scheduled my next session. Room was darkened, temp was perfect, had an oceansound scape. They offered various scented oils. Looking forward to my next session.

HEAVEN!! I went in unable to turn my neck to the left, unable to get out of bed without shooting pain. High dose ibuprofen didn’t work. Able to get an appointment the day after I called and left feeling like I had a new lease on life! Like I could actually turn my head. The prices are ridiculously unbeatable. The only downside is that u have to top in cash (and you will definitely want to tip the amazing masseuses) and that the waiting room is crazy small (don’t bring guests that you will have waiting on you). I’m a new regular!

I arrived at my appointment to find it had been canceled. I was told they were unable to confirm my appointment, so they canceled it. They had called a number that was not mine. They were off by one number. My number has a 9 in it and they dialed 4 instead. Im sure when the number was written in the book the 9 was written down and it looked like a 4. However, it was implied I had given them the wrong number. A number Ive had for over 20 years. They did not check to see if they could fit me in or ask to reschedule. I was just canceled.

Excellent service and price but Joy is definitely a gem. She has wonderful strong hands to massage away all the stress we all carry. Dont be fooled away by its small size - their services and staff rival services provided by resorts. They also have couples massage and facials too. At least 5 stars and even more if that was possible.

Here are some facts.The massage therapist was very nice and my issue for what I went in for went away for about 30 minutes.I walked out of the treatment room and the owner charged me for a deep tissue $40, when in fact I received a regular massage (Swedish $29)I handed the owner a $20 bill for change with the intention of leaving a $10 tip and he gave me the change but he said I never handed him the $20.For those keeping track that is a total of $50 for a service and a tip. The correct amount I should have paid was 29$ for a massage and $10for a tip=$39 but let’s go ahead and make it $40.I’m just glad my bank confirmed what I withdrew minutes before walking into this establishment so my checks and balances for what I’m writing are in fact correct.I only know the rude man at the desk was the owner because he mentioned it twice during our discussion. Of note to all the Googlers,this business doesn’t give receipts to cash paying clients. If you walk in to receive a service please go in better informed. If you plan on paying with cash go in with the exact amount for the service and a tip.The owner made an attempt to contact me only after I listed a pour review on Yelp and offered me 29$ back. Sorry! And no thanks a 29$ transaction never took place and you can’t insinuate someone is a liar and thief only to make an apology.I have no problem paying for something I received. I have no desire to ever do business with you ever again.From the $40 I paid you and the $29 I should have been charged, I would rather you give that money to the therapist. So that is 11$ you would be giving to the therapist, just in case you’re still a little confused.My hope is I made her day with a now $21 tip sense you have now ruined massage experience...PS get cameras in your office and start giving receipts to all of your transactions you clearly are not very good at keeping books and or multi- tasking.

I had a pain on my shoulder and back for 3 weeks, took pill for pain and wasnt doing anything, went to a place for a massage , it was worse after that, came to hands of joy and it was like a miracle. The pain was gone , I felt relaxed. Went back a couple of times after that. I loved it.

Great message but the guy setting up the appointments doesn’t have great customer service skills. He got the wrong date for my appointment, didn’t apologize, didn’t care to reschedule, didn’t matter if he lost my business. Need to find a place that appreciates all their customers.

Went for a deep tissue massage. Danielle was amazing! I saw somebodys review on here saying their masseuse didnt apply enough pressure. I highly disagree if Im going off of MY experience. Danielle even had to check with me a couple times to make sure it wasnt too much, lol. Hands of Joy exceeded my expectations. WELL worth the $40. I will be back, and I will recommend to everyone I know who needs a massage. 😊

( only prob was it could hv been tackled in a better way-- she should have told you and you could have asked -hey man r u ok ? ur movements were uneasy for MT ,but u just believed what she said )that is why at end I did not understand why you said so .MT Vanessa does not know diff b/w shoulder/back and pelvic movements as I was moving my sore back away from being touched .( she was prejudiced to assume all movements are pelvic ! )she was asked to take break if she was tired , ( she was not asked to take break with me ). Break issue clearly shows she understood me but was lying to you.( you can ask her in detail) 3 stars are gone all coz of her .all the best for businessmassage was fine but manager said staff is not comfortable so they would not take againdid not understand why ?

For $40, I expect someone who has the ability to apply enough pressure if needed. I feel like I wasted my time and money. I almost couldnt make my appointment and was about to be charged a cancellation fee upon calling ahead. I honestly wish I just paid that instead. Next time Im going to the Chinese place where they press plenty hard

Probably the only place I will come to get a massage here in Bakersfield. Staff is always friendly, when you message for availability you get a call back to schedule IMMEDIATELY. Prices are way too good to be true, especially compared to other spas and salons in town.Tip: Check Facebook before booking! They always have specials and discounts on there, but you have to mention it to get the price!Also, Katherine is great. If shes available go with her!

The friendly and professional staff made sure my comfort was a priority and the massage eased tension in my shoulders and trouble areas. Definitely will go more often as I was depriving myself. This is the place to go. Me and my wife got the deep tissue massage and the girls that Massaged us worked out all the knots. The place feels clean smells good and its real relaxing environment. Got a wax for the first time a little over a month ago. I was very nervous and afraid. Susan was great though and she very quickly made me feel relaxed. It was over before I knew it. Definitely going back.

Their therapists there told me that they often work ten hours a day with no break and make $15 an hour. I cannot support a place that treats their employees bad, and the woman working on me told me alllll about it.om top of that the man at the counter was extremely... Attitudy and snobby. I felt unwelcome and will continue trying other places or going to my regular therapist when she can fit me in.

The staff is wonderful but the owner is rude. I paid the tip for the massage in advance to him but he didn’t give it to the massage therapist. Make sure to give your tip, directly to the massage therapist and if by mistake you give it to the owner to pass it on to the therapist, ask your therapist if the owner gave them the tip.He is VERY dishonest. Never again will I go there!

I went in, first, for eyelash extensions, with DeDe, shes amazing. Ive had nothing but positive comments, from family and friends. My 2nd. visit was for massage/facial. I will admit, I dozed off during the process. Everyone there is very professional. I will continue going there for services.Fantastic !!!!

Nia was awesome today! Went in with a kink on my back and after a concentrated hour of deep tissue i walked out feeling like a champ. She was super knowledgable, professional and put the right amount of pressure to help loosen my knots and relieve my pain. I will be booking her soon but for whole body.
