Attending a concert at this venue was an electrifying experience! The energy in the air was contagious, making it the perfect setting for a memorable night out. With standing room only, youre fully immersed in the music and surrounded by music enthusiasts.Despite its small size, the acoustics were pretty good.Arrive early to secure a prime spot for the best view and acoustics. A must-visit for any music lover looking for an intimate and vibrant concert atmosphere!
Drove 4 hours so I could see my favorite band on my birthday and the venue was a great way to have an up close and personal experience. It wasn’t too crowded but I imagine depending the band it can get to be too much and the bathrooms are tiny. I brought my daughter and she didn’t seem to mind it however there were times were smoke was going directly in her face but they do have a section when you first come in that gets better air flow. If I lived closer I could see this being a favorite. This is in a shopping center and the parking was a little limited but not horrible with going on a Thursday.
Been coming to this venue for 20 years this was the first time I thought whoever was in charge of the venue messed up the vibe... Went for an Animals as Leaders show, ended up getting 1.5HOURS of Prince videos.... And only 1 hour of Animals as Leaders.... really?!? Couldnt have picked something more in line with the crowd or demographic as we waited FOREVER for them to play??? Also I would say that after my wife was uncomfortable being in the crowd we moved towards the open air courtyard and first inside bar area. I would say an upgrade in video recording equipment is necessary the picture projected on the wall was super hard to see and blurry and the TV above the bar was a little better but pretty bad to what it easily could be. And to animals as leaders bummed that you didnt give an encore.... After waiting so many years to see you live it was a bit of a letdown will just listen to your albums from now on.
This is a great small and intimate venue to see live music. I have been here many times over the years. The parking f kinda sucks though. Its best to arrive early so you can find a spot. Also it can get super hot inside. Aside from all that I have seen some of my favorite bands put on some perfect shows.
The best thing about this place is the eclectic bands they have playing here. Over the years Ive seen the bassist for Joy Division, Animals as Leaders, Buckethead and Dandy Warhols, among others. The venue itself has kind of a crummy setup since theres just the pit with no chairs and a little balcony. You have to arrive very early to grab a spot on the balcony. The acoustics in the room are surprisingly pretty good. I suppose that since its a small room you really get the full band sound as opposed to one of those midsized venues where the marshall stacks are getting drowned out by the buzzing noises. Unfortunately if theyre sold out you might end up getting pushed out the door and might barely even be able to see the band perform, but since its such a small place it hardly matters.
Great place, good size, and an excepcional view from anywhere in the room. There are easy access bars around and very clean restrooms. The The Zombies concert was also specially good and made the overall experience even better
This place is great, the place is small you are basically right in front of the stage, the sound is great there is a balcony if you get there early you can get a seat at the bar upstairs, I think the view is better from the balcony. There is a ledge that you can sit on. its directly under the ac. Bring a jacket if you are going to sit on the ledge,
Beware. They sell more tickets than can actually see the show. When it is full, it is physically impossible for all ticketholders to see the performance. If it is a popular band, youre taking your chances. If it is only half full, then great experience. And, if you have to use the bathroom during a full night, forget about it. You will have to fight your way thru the crowd.
I couldnt figure out how to give less than one star! My wife and I were there for an oversold and packed-like-sardines (literally) concert featuring KKs Priest with L.A. Guns and Burning Witches opening. First of all, the concert started before we could even enter the building! We were about 3/4 of the way down in line between the entry point and E Oakland Park Blvd. and it took forever to gain entry. Again, the concert had already started and the place was jammed packed - had to be a fire code violation! My wife and I left after being bombarded by hot and sweaty people trying to work their way around the venue. We had enough and went to Kelly Brothers Irish Pub (the Upper-Deck Lounge) where we stayed the rest of the evening. No way will I ever go back to the Culture Room for any reason whatsoever.
Ive been going to shows at the Culture Room for almost 15 years now. I starting going here back when it was an all-age night club called Vipers!Ive seen countless shows here...from Peter Murphy, Mustard Plug (2x), The Mountain Goats (2x), Against Me! (2x), The Flatliners, Ballyhoo! (2x), Everclear, Patent Pending, VNV Nation, Built to Spill and Against All Authority to name a few.The drinks are a bit pricey, but admission is fairly priced. Ive never had an issue with the staff. This is my favorite venue in Broward County. I never buy my tickets in advance, so I like to get to the shows early... Get a bite to eat at the Chinese restaurant next door and eat inline. By getting there early, Im also more likely to get my favorite spot in the venue.... up on the balcony.
Culture Room is an extremely intimate venue that does not oversell the show. Every show Ive been to has been very close to the stage without feeling crowd crushed. Moshing is allowed and security only steps in when someone is being over the top and rightfully needs to be removed. I love shows at this venue.
Th Culture Room is an amazing live music venue. My wife and I went to see Highly Suspect and Sloth Rust. When we arrived the venue was smaller than I expected but to my surprise once everything kicked off the venue was the perfect size. Lighting, Sound and Video was amazing. The staff are really organized and know how to run the Venue. The best part was @HighlySuspect. Johnny and the band killed it. We were so close to these guys and felt like we were part of the show. We will be back soon!
This venue is SUPER small and the layout can be kind of awkward. However, they work really well with what they have. Security in the venue on the floor were super tight - they made everything that much fun. Parking appeared to be free from what I could see.
The place is so-so, you have to pay to sit on a chair. Margarita cocktail in a glass 😀150g, one ice, sipped twice from a straw and ran out, SHAME on the bartender!
I really liked this venue. I love the two separate and different atmospheres. To the right, theres the concert room. Its small but very neat, great lighting, and amazing sound. My girlfriend and I went up to the second level and the view was awesome. To the left there is a small more intimate bar lounge with soft music in case you want to take a break. The decor is really cool... really looks like a culture room. Why 3 stars? Just because they really need to invest in modernizing their ticket check in process. We showed up with our online tickets in our phones (just like we do for most places nowadays) but they do not accept this. They definitely require that you print it. I personally feel very strongly abt not wasting unnecessary paper. So I didnt like that. They had us wait on the side until everyone in line was checked in and then they took care of us. Please get a digital system. It saves time and its definitely better for our environment. Lets go paperless!
Great venue to see bands. Intimate great sound. If they play here, Go!
Why the heck did you people decide to make the coolest intimate yet non-divey venue in the state of Florida?!Why?!!?!Because you rule, that’s why. Thank you for hosting the Toadies show, it was magic and I’ll never forget it.The outdoor beverage area was so chic and relaxing, the lighting inside the venue is perfect for virtually any act, the stage is so cool, just whatever man, I’d see any act smart enough to include this spot on their tour.Keep doing more of what you’re doing, we deserve it!!
Went Thursday night for KKs Priest, overcrowded, hotter than hell, and could not even get to floor to see the band. The area between the patio and floor has such a low ceiling we could only see from neck below. So overcrowded we could not even get to the bathroom. Someone said watch it on the tv screen but i did not pay to see a concert on a tv screen, not interested in going there again, very disappointed, they could have sold less tickets to make the experience good for all.
Place was WAY oversold for Pigeons Playing Ping Pong. Couldnt hardly make it to the bathroom through the crowd. I love the place but after that experience, I probably wont spend the money again. It was bad. I ended up leaving after about 4 songs
Great little venue! Inside was unique, sound was great! Thursday was awesome! Liked the big screen outside so you can see what’s going on while you wait to use the bathroom or buy some merch or grab a drink! Gonna give 4 stars because there is not enough parking for the location and everywhere surrounding had signs that said you will be towed. We risked it and parked at Target....I’ve never seen 50+ cars towed at once, haha. We will keep an eye out for shows theres in the future.
The place is good, the sound is good, but.... get ready to go through the mosh pit or the standing crowd in order to go to the bathroom which is all the way to the opposite corner right next to the stage. No wonder several fights broke out during the CANDLEBOX concert because people watching the band get understandibly frustrated when you try to cut in front of them to go pee accross the venue. Easy solution Culture Room, build another freaking restroom by the front door patio and avoid the hassle and the fist fights.
Awesome Concert, smaller than other venues but makes up with Awesome views of the bands!
Excellent small venue with a great stage, lighting and sound. The building holds about 350 people. Downstairs is standing only. I took the photo of the bend from the back of the room. Their balcony (photo) has pricy seating. They have three bars, one in an open sky room with a big screen to watch the show. Will definitely go again.
Great place to see a band. Inexpensive at the door, a little pricey at the bars but totally worth it for the intimacy and great sound. If you were the furthest from the stage possible I doubt youd be 50 ft away. Not a bad spot in the house! I saw G Love here who I had seen several times previously and this was the best show hands down because of the venue. I got tickets at the door and saved about $10/ticket by not getting charged for Ticketmasters fees. They dont have a credit card processor at the door though and the door man said you have to wait 10 minutes for a runner to go inside to slide the card. I paid in cash. Its nice that there is no smoking inside (except maybe a little puff of green here and there) but if you are a smoker there is an easily accessible courtyard smoking area with a bar, tables, a projector casting real-time video of the stage to a wall, and band sales.Unless I missed something there is only a single mens room with an attendant, 2 urinals and 2 stalls (1 of 2 handicap friendly) I was really surprised that there really wasnt much of a line. The ladies room looked to have a bit of a wait but such is the nature off these things, haha. There is a narrow mezzanine along the side of the stage with a bar and 2 sets of elbow rails. This is where I hung out. You are literally right over the stage! I felt like I could hang over the edge and high 5 the band. The bar up there only had one guy working it and I expected service to be slow but that bartender was seriously the man and was amazingly fast and efficient. I will definitely be back the next time they have a band that I have even a tiny interest in just because of how great this place is to see a show.
Wonderful little venue! And when I mean little, it really is, haha. But that doesnt make it less ideal as a live music venue! I saw The Midnight perform tonight and they were fantastic! And with the venue being small, it makes the audience more interactive and closer to the performers. The downside is it is a standing only place for the live stage area, making people who dont want to/cant stand difficult. Culture Room does have seats, however. They are outside, in the patio area with no direct view of the stage, but does have a screen showing the live performance. It is good to keep those details in mind. Also, there are bar stations(?) throughout the venue (near the patio, near the entrance closest to the patio, across the stage, and upstairs), so you can be sure no matter where you are, you can grab a drink there. All in all, I would attend another show here if given the chance and when a favorite band or act is around again. Highly recommended!
Ive been going to this venue for over 20 years. Ive seen hundreds of shows in club venues, huge venues and everything in between. Every band Ive ever seen play here has done their best show here. I dunno who this place sold their soul to, but they know what theyre doing and theres just something about this place that makes it special. Parking kinda sucks though...but isnt enough to knock it down any stars.
Excellent sound and very cool layout! Bars are located strategically in the property. There is an outside open air seating area with a large video screen to watch the performance happening inside. There is also a bar located here.Great first time experience!
Everything ran smoothly.I have to say, I wasnt much of a fan of a person from the venue walking out on the waiting line and saying there is no stage diving and crowd surfing allowed, being this a Black Flag show, that was quite ironic... However, there was a great mosh happening and I am in fact 39 so I dont participate in much of those things anymore, but that is just part of the scene.Great sounding venue and air conditioning inside. Had a great time and will come back again for more shows.
Terrible venue. I went there to see a show that was listed as 7:30 PM and the show did not start untill 11 PM. I would never go there again, except to see Grace Potter. I hope I have a better experience this time. They should tell you when the concert is going to start and not keep you trapped for hours. The venue is the worst I have ever experienced and I have been going to thousands of concerts for a long time in many different locations.
Security staff all pro no nonsense professionals. Amazing sound and the in house video is at another level. Go enjoy a large venue experience at an intimate venue setting with bar staff that know their craft.
Great lesser known bands okay there. It’s in the middle of a shopping center. The club is quite small and gets packed. Not easy to move around but small enough to get a good view from anywhere. Friendly staff. 3 bars in a small space so never a wait. They didn’t know how to make a skinny margarita lol.
Loved the entertainer. Standing all night was a bit uncomfortable. Good bar service. Not enough restrooms, but are there ever no matter where you go.
I like Culture Room because they have good shows and a nice outdoor patio, but there is no place to sit (except like 7 chairs on the patio for smokers). Be prepared to stand on concrete for a long period of time. Also, the step up and down through the middle bar room is fun to watch the drunkards navigate.
Cool venue! Small and intimate. I was less than 8 feet from the stage. Sound could have been better... (Too loud in an effort to impress. Took away from sound QUALITY. ) But other than the fact that the sound guy is a halfway, it was a great show!
Had the pleasure of going to this venue for the “wailers” show. I cannot say enough great things about the employees . They took care of myself and my mother, who has limited ability to stand for hours at a time. After making sure she had a place to sit, the bartenders, security ect were just fantastic, friendly and fun. The venue has great acoustics, and stage view. Can’t wait to go back for another show!! You guys are the best!!
Was there tonight to see Plini and it is truly a great venue to see your favorite bands up close and personal! Plenty of bars and you can see the band playing on video screen in the lobby if you decide to get away from the crowd.
Love this small venue. Its an intimate space to see your favorite band.
We visited this place to listen to Victor Wooten who is an incredible bass player.I think this is the most positive I can tell about this place.A huge and very slow entrance line. The show was delayed for 1 hour, not including the open door time. All this time there was a good recorded music. And the speakers were tuned so badly that my ears started bleeding. But if you want to know how bad the sound can be, you have to wait for the show. Definitely the person who is responsible for the sound has never heard any live music, any instruments.Maybe that was an exception, but if this is a normal sound in this place, I dont recommend to listen, but maybe watch whatever there can be.Its a good place for good vibes and atmosphere and youll definitely enjoy it if you can avoid listening to any sounds
Should’ve written this MONTHS ago but better late than never right? Saw Machine Head here at 12/12 for my first concert experience and MAN was it a show!! Might be a small venue but they definitely delivered. I was on the second floor and thankfully there was still some room left for me and my friends.
Good venue. Good sound equipment. The problem is that the overall club space is much larger than the actual dance floor/concert viewing area. Which results in completely oversold shows where everyone is packed in like sardines. No room to breathe. Very overcrowded and extremely uncomfortable. Would be great if the business could relocate somewhere nearby with a much larger concert area than present
Great venue. good sound. Gets very tightly packed
Music is excellent there. Its way too small and crowded. If youre claustrophobic do not attempt it on any concert. Not a fan of being packed like sardines and drunks spilling alcohol all over.
B.s standing for 3 hours waiting to see a show. After first act waited for headline another hour. Really kind of ruined the anticipation.
Great venue for punk, ska and rock shows. I loved that the have a balcony and bars on every corner of the smaller place. The sound here is really amazing for a small venue and I also love the LED background of the stage which makes the shows visually more fun.You can also watch the concert on a life feed from the outside patio if you dont like a tight crowd or want to smoke during the show. All in all a really cool venue. Now they just have to bring in more ska and punk shows and Ill be back frequently. :)
Giving it 4 stars because I just wish the venue had more space. It’s just too small and cramped up. The sound quality was spectacular and I loved the digital screens they had behind the bands. As always Morbid Angel killed it, also loved Vitriol.
This venue has great atmosphere, a friendly staff, and you can see the performers from anywhere inside. Fair warning: if the artist you want to see is relatively popular, get there early if you want front stage view. It can be a bit of tight fit when its crowded, but I enjoyed the show regardless. If that can be an issue for you, theres plenty of outdoor seating where you can still hear the artists perform.
Traveled from NJ for the weekend to see Municipal Waste and the Circle Jerks on Dec 19, 2021. The Culture Room is a small venue with a great physical layout (high stage, balcony, big pit area) that allows you to see the bands up close wherever you are in the venue. The show is also cast onto the wall in the patio/smoking area and TVs above the bars. Crowd was mix of older and younger people that you usually find at metal/punk shows, good fun crowd, encountered zero a-holes. I read parking was tight so I took an Uber from my hotel, but when I got there at 7pm (door time) there were still a bunch of spots in the lot. Staff were friendly and helpful. Good place to catch a show.
What a cool venue. Good sound. Very small but you are literally arms length from the performers if you are at the stage. This was a great venue to see Matt Nathason.
Small no frills club, no AC, super stagnant air quality and way oversold show on 10-28-23, only 2 little exits. fire evac hazard! one batheoom all the way in the corner. Could do way better.
Went to see Gaelic Storm and had a blast! Tha acoustics in the room are pretty great and love that theres a courtyard type area where you can cool down and still watch the show!
Cool smaller venue, unique layout with open courtyard. The diversity of music on their schedule is pretty awesome. The sound is good and there really isnt a bad place to watch a show from since its so small (unless youre vertically challenged).Standing room only and sardine packed crowds for anything semi-well-known. The light show is pretty cheesy unless the artist brings their own. That just means its a normal small venue though :)
Its a neat, small venue that is a lot of fun. Friendly staff and an intimate concert experience. Parking is great if you get there early, but can be tricky if you show up late.
Staff is always great with me. Especially the bartenders, they are SUPER friendly. They will remember you by first name by your second drink. Its amazing the bands you can see here for 30 or 35 dollars. Two months ago I got a VIP experience with The Expendables and the staff was unbelievably awesome to me and my wife. We had a wonderful time backstage with the band. Thanks Culture Room for a great time. Ill come here again and again
This place is bigger than you would expect from the outside. Security was spot on in keeping the crowd in order without being difficult. The have some nice lighting in this place for a show as well. My only real issue was the levels for the bands were too high! When the low end is popping in the sound system and the singer is barely understandable, someone needs to make an adjustment. In all, a good place for a show.
The venue was great with kind staff that knew the community. Saw a metal show here and the pit was the most intense.
If the show you choose to go to is under attended, this place is great (aside from overpriced drinks). If even half the capacity fills up, its not worth going. Sardines in a can have it better than you do when this place fills up. They have a balcony which is cool but the sound is terrible from that vantage point. Basically only 20% of the standing area is actually in front of the stage. The patio area is super cool but a total waste of space. They really need to completely redesign the entire venue. Staff is nice. Great light system. Huge stage. Just very poorly designed. Also- the guy hired to watch you pee in the bathroom is uncomfortable, and expects money for handing you a towel. Want a piece of gum? Thats going to cost $5. I was going to give him $1 and he asked if i wanted change. I gave him a $5 and he gave me no change.
Great local spot and booking agent brings some seriously talented and national touring acts into town. Get a little tight for the large shows but the sound and lighting is incredible. Would love to see this venue expand into a bigger establishment. Def check them out, you won’t be disappointedImages provided and copyright by @slightly_skewed
If you want to see your favorite artist up close and real intimate, this is the place.Been to so many great shows here. But be ready to stand all night. Tight venue but great sightlines from everywhere. They rock with great drink specials too.Wont break your wallet for tickets or drinks. So many awesome night here. Legendary shows
Culture Room is back and better than ever! Thanks to all the amazing staff members, including the manager, who made the Toad The Wet Sprocket concert one of the best Ive attended in years. Will definitely be back soon.If youre looking for a great music venue, Culture Room is probably the best in all of South Florida.
A great venue to watch bands up close perform a Broward county gem. Thanks Culture enjoyed the Steel Panther show a few weeks ago. Will come again!!!
Went to a sold out show last night and unlike a lot of other people here I have to say it wasnt unpleasant. Definitely no less comfortable than standing at the pit at revolution on sold out nights. Great small concert venue and the staff at the door was extremely helpful and nice. Drinks are about the same price as you would expect in any other venue.
Saw Pale Waves and two other bands on Nov 2. All three were excellent! This was my first time at Culture Room, and I was blown away by the quality of the sound system and lighting. The size of the place is perfect; not too big and not too small. Good A/C; was not hot and my friends were even cold (place was 75% full). I look forward to going back again. Someone had mentioned in another review that the beer is pricey. I paid $8 for a Corona, but keep in mind that the cost of the show was affordable ($15-$20). I know that this establishment needs to make money somewhere, and I feel the cost between admission and alcohol is very much balanced (if beer was cheaper, admission would be higher, etc etc.). Looking forward to going back again...maybe they can book Miami Horror?! =)
First time here and its a great place to watch a concert. Candle box was great. It made it feel like they are playing for your friends in your living room. The only drawback its standing room only.
We went to see Born of Osiris, Chelsea Grin and Make Them Suffer, so the small venue made everything more personal and in-depth. Its half indoor, half outdoor. The bar service was really quick considering it was a concert. They have a projection screen too for handicapped people or for my one friend who didnt really like hardcore music, but came along anyway, so she was out chilling there while the rest of us got all sweaty in the pit. Cant wait to go back!
Nice place to see some great bands. Security seems a lighter tighter than Revolution not no big issues. The outdoor side where you can smoke is crucial and the sound is good for a small room. Definitely one of the best music spots in Broward
Easily one of the better venues in ft Lauderdale. The open patio area is a great contrast to the stage area allowing for a more enjoyable concert experience. The drinks are a little over priced in my opinion so I do advise a pregame session before attending. Other than that, no complaints.
Once you get past the divider wall that separates the patio and its bar where you can smoke, the sound is good. But from what Im told by my local friends, this place is known to oversell their venue and then you could be in trouble as far as enough room to breath let alone dance. I was happy with the amount of room we had the night I went but still a bit crowded. Good show by Yonder Mountain String Band though!!!
Great small venue. You feel like your touching the stage and concerts here are one of a kind. Not many venues let you get so close. Has a unique vibe and connects you with band, definitely more personalized. However, if you dont like tight crowds, it might not be the place for you.
As a concert venue, this left a bit to be desired. The line to get in moved incredibly slowly. They don’t take tickets on mobile devices, has to be a printed ticket. And once you’re in, the only bathroom is on the opposite side of the entry. So in other words, you have to pass through a very dense crowd just to get to a restroom. The area to stand in front of the stage is very small.
Went to nonpoint show mar 11th 2023 and was put in headlock by security . during this process he punched me in the eye then proceeded to push me out the building for being pushed around a moshpit at a rock show . when i presented my story at the front door they said theres nothing we can do . i demanded to see the manager and they brought out the hostel security who threw me out in the first place and he responded with more hostility. I am extremely unhappy with this incident and demand reparations.
Parking is limited considering the size of the shopping center and capacity of the venue. The bar was well stocked and bartenders were prompt. The bathroom was tidy and cramped. The stage was well organized and the dance floor and balcony provided good views. Patio seating was limited and in high demand.
Keep expectations low and you wont be disappointed. Parking lot fills up quick get there early. There is a reason why places like this are painted all black and kept dark, the venue isnt pretty. Your going to a concert in a very small venue. You will be squeezed in like sardines. Youll get pushed around, compressed against people, and endure body odor, flatulence, and an obstructed view. The bands do put in some effort and dont just phone it in because its a small venue. The bar is adequate if you get there early. Waiting till later and youll be fighting the constant wave of people fighting to get to the restroom or make it to the front of the bar. Bring small bill to the restroom or else the restroom attendant will curse at you for not giving him a buck for handing you a wet shabby looking dirty hand towel. Get out of the parking lot early or youll be fighting to get out of the parking lot. Other than that, show was ok.
The venue is quite clean, bar staff are friendly, security is on point, and the lineup for artists is solid. So why the 2 star review? The sound engineer needs to be fired. Every song is so bass heavy that it drowns out any vocals. Its downright abysmal how bad the mixing is. Granted its a small venue and its not perfect for acoustics, but come on! If they ever replace the sound guy with a more competent one, Ill revisit this review and edit accordingly.
I used to hate this place YEARS ago when I started covering shows but it quickly became of my favorite places to be. The staff is serious with what they do and are friendly when you don’t push their buttons and try and play them. Over the years it seems like their lighting as improved and the size of the venue provides some interesting experiences!
Very is tiny. Unable to actually see the band we paid to see as they sell more tickets than people that fit in the room with the band. Viewed concert on the tvs that were set up in another room.
A very nice club. Were very pleased with our experience at Queensrÿche concert here on March 3rd, 2019. Very neat venue, great acoustics, conveniently located, with plenty of parking. Great bartenders and staff. Certainly our favorite spot.
One of the longest running music venues in Broward County, and it gets my vote for the best. Sound is always on point, drink prices are reasonable, friendly staff, and they consistently bring in big-name national acts and only the very best bands of South Florida. I always have a wonderful time here.
I personally love this place. The size makes the venue personal, and you pretty much get close enough to touch the band. Ive been here a handful of times and its been great each time. Id buy more beer at $5 than at $7 or $8 though, and it can get a bit warm inside. It is SoFlo I guess...
I went on a Tuesday evening to see Buckethead. The venue opened up at 7:30 as expected. The staff was polite and attentive. Everyone was in a pretty good mood. The ladies room was neat and clean, all properly working. The mens room, I was told, was a little wonky: One stall had a plunger sticking out of the commode while the others door didnt close properly nor locked at all. Both urinals worked fine. With cobwebs in the corners, Í wouldnt claim that it was particularly clean.A beer and a water was $10, which isnt ridiculous. After the show, people lingered, but the staff didnt seem bothered by it.Well go again when another show comes that way.
It was super packed, and hot as balls, the drinks were way to expensive, but thats to be expected at a concert. My wife and I saw Tech N9ne and had the time of our lives. But if your not a big fan of the scheduled performers, you may not have the best of times. But it was totally worth it for us. It was my wifes second show here, my third, and we wont hesitate to go back the next time they have a show were interested in.
Great venue to see anybody at. If you want to see a band up close this is the spot and they have some pretty good head liners. Very cool place and the sound in this room is pretty good, working its way up to #1 on my list.
This venue should be closed down as a safety hazard. One star because zero is not available. This filthy, overcrowded venue exemplifies all that is wrong with the music scene. Consistently overbooked, which makes a general admission venue challenging if not downright dangerous for those of us who are not tall and/or muscle-bound.There are four bars and one set of rest rooms. Due to the over-booking, one has to attempt to force their way across the floor to reach the rest room. Staff is unhelpful, rude, sarcastic & inconsiderate. Lounge still permits smoking, so the air is unbreathable.Parking is a nightmare, if you dont arrive at least two hours early, and the last show I attended - which will definitely be the last - started 90 minutes late. So we had been waiting nearly three hours by the time they started. We couldnt get near enough to see the stage, and the lounge was poisonous with smoke, so we left without seeing the show. Total waste of money.
A great intimate sized venue for the metal and harder edge music crowd. Super easy parking across the street and right off the US1 and I95. Most of the bigger touring metal bands hit this venue so be sure to watch for their upcoming shows.
Enjoyed the show! Its a small up close and personal venue. Didnt enjoy waiting an hour to get in before the show (in the rain), but I guess if you want to get your spot up front, you do what you gotta do. Oh, the drinks are a waste of money, theres no alcohol. Stick to a beer!
I really like the culture room. The stage setup is strange, its not deep, its wide. It makes it so its hard to find a place that isnt relatively close to the stage. Thats incredible if you want to get right up close, I like getting a little tighter with the soundboard so that I can get the best audio, and this structure makes it a little harder. But, that is just me nitpicking. The whole vibe was fun and I like the location.I dont live nearby, so I probably wont be back anytime soon, but if I had the opportunity to go again I would enjoy that.
Seen a few bands at this venue, typically play rock plans. Not the biggest but it has great sound and doesnt usually get too crowded. Separate outdoor section for smoking with a tv screen showing the concert. Also has two bars.
The culture room is one of the best venues for music in South Florida. Very, very intimate. Always a great view no matter where you stand. Consistently great sound. Fast bartenders and modestly priced booze. What else can you ask for?
I am so happy when I get to drive to Ft Lauderdale to see amazing artists doing what they love the most. The Culture Room is an amazing venue.
I went there for a few concerts and the ambience is very nice. However, the beer didn’t taste good. Maybe they removed from the refrigerator and then put it back. Idk, but that is an important factor for me when I go out.
BUYER BEWARE!! I wish I could take back the one star in order to post. I would. I go to A LOT of concerts and venues throughout Florida. And leave reviews. Drove long distance to see show last night. Rude, nasty and unprofessional people work here. (Narcissistic clowns) Showed up earlier than venue. Bouncer yelled at us because we were NOT allowed to stand in line until they open their doors. (I wasnt aware of their rules) When I finally got inside (nothing has changed within the place in over 40+ years of my life) Used the restroom (which is filthy- rather pee outside of building) and went to look for my people- they were holding my ticket for me (on paper - not a phone) walked outside thinking they were smoking. Bouncers refused to allow me back inside - even tho they had seen me 3 hours before with my husband. I asked the bouncers (4 of them) politely if they can retrieve my phone due to credit cards and drivers license inside. (being you are not allowed back in once you walk out) Refused to listen and started to yell at me in front of everyone standing in line (which I was embarrassed) Sat in parking lot with no phone, no car keys, no money for 2 hours. Asked the Irish pub for help. They retrieve one of the employees to help me. She wasnt much help. When I showed her my wristband to prove to her that I did have entry. She ripped it off of my wrist and was screaming at me in the parking lot. Waited until concert was over friends retrieved phone, car keys but my cash in wallet was missing. Didnt get to watch the show. Waste of money.
Not that great. This is more like a converted bar. The show was an hour and a half late. Standing only. There was not enough parking in the parking lot. The audio was a bit excessively loud. And it was extremely crowded, it MUST have been over capacity in that area. If there was a fire who knew what would have happened. Hard to see performer with the walls of flesh since there the ground is just flat. They have a large monitor up but they would only use it to do close ups every once in a while. Musician was great though. Will not return unless they have an act I cannot see anywhere else.
The staff were so accommodating and nice! Definitely one of the best concert venues Ive been to in a while!
Small venue nationally touring acts. Good sound. Good lighting. Upstairs and open air areas for when my old ears need a rest from the music. Everything from Johnny Rotten to Johnny Winter play here.
Place is really small and intimate. However, staff can be rude and when the place is sold out getting to a bathroom or bar is a tough task for anyone even remotely timid. NOTE: Bathrooms are literally right next to the stairs to the stage and are pretty small. Plan accordingly. My date had some issues navigating that mess
Awesome venue. I saw Fastball and The Fixx.on 10-23-22. Great bands. The staff is great and the drinks are reasonable. I recommend you go and have a great time. The crowd was jumping.
Small venue. Standing room only. Great sound. Bring ear plugs. Every person in the audience can see the sweat on the performers face. Excellent place to see energetic artists.
Amazing venue(very intimate) the staff is so chill! I was there about a month ago, the show was perfect besides an incident with a very intoxicated man peed upstairs. I think his name was Nick or something. Thankfully security handled his situation well and only tossed him out, he seemed pretty mad tho.
Such an awesome venue! The lighting looks like its quite equipped and personally, it seems to be just about the right size. If you like indie music, definitely check out whos playing there.
If you want to go to a show where they dont properly give you the info beforehand, but also wont accept an apology and understanding, then decide to just beat you up, the owner told them to take me out of the view of the cameras before they punched me and kicked me in the ribs. They stole my phone bc I took photos of them after it happened. I was so apologetic bc I literally was never told you couldnt crowd surf, (also crowd surfing at a metal show!?!) but they didnt care and apparently their employees have the right to assault you on public property. Ive always had fun there before, but that was out of control.
The services and their pricing are just what you’d expect from any other live music venue but the biggest pitfall for me is how small the actual viewing area is. The layout itself is pretty frustrating, with the restrooms under the stairs and the bar on the other side. It just all feels off.Other than that, I primarily just come for the live performances of select artists and bands. Can’t say much about the staff because I rarely interact with them.
Went to see psychedelic furs yesterday and i will never come back to this venue. I like the smallness of it but there were too many peoole crowded into it. Im short and i couldnt see anything. I stayed outside and couldnt hear them and the big screen aka cement wall was grainy. I wish i really could have enjoyed this more.
Went to see Sepultura & Crowbar, small, intimate setting. Sound was good, had a lot of fun. Wish there was crowd surfing in the pit though!
Unchanged in modern memory, here lords over us a South Florida institution. One finds few places in life so genuine as to inspire tears, as this old joint does. Here we have one of the only genuine music venues left in an old corner strip-mall, in all of the South. Many a musician has triumphed on her pool deck-like stage. The crowd beneath and Greg, the monster, above. He mussnt be trifled with, I assure you. He is powerful and in possession of ancient unseen powers: you must behave, reveling may ensue. Not for those who cannot or will not dance or those unable to make room for revelers. Ample parking. No reentry. Staffed Bathrooms.
Always an amazing place to see a show. Sound is on point. Parking can be rough if its a sold out show and the bartenders could use an attitude adjustment.....but otherwise great venue!
Great venue to see live acts up close and personal. It can get tight if you want to be up front. Ive been there at 15 times in the last 2 yrs and always have had a great time !!!!!
The better dive venues in South Florida attracts a lot of good bands but tends to have too many bodies into little space. Sometimes driven out by the Heat. Decent bars at reasonable prices for a bar club venue. Music acts I want to see are there routinely throughout the year.. parking sucks so get there a little early or Park somewhere else.
First time attending this location for the Naija concert (tickets bought via ticketmaster) the entire thing was a mess. Over an hour late to start letting individuals into the venue. Once inside, it was hot, to the point individuals were passing out. It was all ages but liquor was being sold, not safe when their is young kids there, adults should be able to go 3 hours without a drink and be fine. Members of the tour and the actual venue had no idea what to do with the meet and greets, they basically made us wait another hour after the show before they set that up when a plan should have been established from the moment the venue was booked by the artist. Then a member of the tour told me that I can accompany my little niece, who is a fan of the YouTube singer, to the meet and greet, so I stood in line with her. Then this incredibly rude staff member from the actual venue told me to go outside if I dont have a paid wristband (the wristband was to take a picture, which I was told that since I was only there to accompany her and not to take a picture, that I was able to be with her, not the case) i had to pick her up in the back. No one was on the same page. If I could give this venue zero stars, I would. Im a firm believer in leaving beautiful reviews for family, small owned business, hope the owner finds better , kinder staff and handles future bookings properly and nicer reviews can start to appear.
Got to see Dance Gavin Dance. Place is small, which is a goot thing for me, you get to see the bands up close. I would suggest wearing earplugs, the sound was really loud like in most venues. They do allow moshing, no crowd surfing tho. Still is a fun place, just dont expect to stage dive anytime soon
I have to say this is the most uncomfortable venue I’ve ever been to. Feels like there’s no AC there and the bathrooms are extremely small. I was extremely miserable there. Just not a good time overall. I had to leave early cause it was so uncomfortable I wish I could’ve enjoyed the music.
The attention to detail and care for my wife was 10/10
Im 57 and fit but going to a concert at the Culture Room was not a pleasant experience. The main problem...no seating. Youve got to stand and since its general admission you stand waiting in line, stand waiting for the band to start and stand for two hours while the band plays. Yes, you can get pretty close to the band but its really not that much fun anymore being crammed into a room and fight for elbow and foot space. I suggest blowing-off this venue and leave it for the young punks.
This was our second time there, first was to see Sleeping With Sirens, this time was for Yungblud. My daughter wanted to be up front at the stage, but since she is under 5 tall, its not a great option for her. We go upstairs (that way I can sit down) and she can see everything! It was a surprise that Halsey showed up! We absolutely love this venue!!
My niece turned 18, 6/1...my gift to her was a weekend getaway and tickets to see Chase Atlantic. The guys working there were so kind, I am handicaped and, 60 .. they let me park right in front of the door It was a very cool place, an intamite venue, its so great the kids got to see the band up close It was definitely worth the 5 hour drive.
Love this place. Great friendly staff. Awesome bands. Clean restrooms.
And now for something completely different...They Might Be Giants. Alto clarinet rocks? Who knew? Im still asking myself that question. They - only performed a few of their most well known numbers. Dont artists get royalties from their old as well as new songs? Why not just go with your best and let they numbers fall where they may, adding in some of the new along the way. Maybe they have a sweeter percentage on their new songs. As for the Culture Room, Ive never seen it so crowded, but the crowd was well behaved (more intellectual types?). For those who havent been, the performance area is half taken up by the stage, leaving a three-car-garage-sized area for audience standing. What this means is unparalleled concert intimacy. Three friendly bars keep the guests well lubricated, and there is an open sky area for the weary to sit on chairs, drink, have a smoke, and watch the performance on wide screen TV. The Culture Room never disappoints, perhaps sometimes the performers, but never the place itself. Let us hope it never closes, as did the Grand Central, a similar small venue in Miami. Long Live The Culture Room!!!Tip: Arrive early, as the parking is limited, go to the Kelly Brothers Pub in the same strip mall, and get juiced before the show. The food there is very good, the juke box rock loud, the staff freindly, and the drinks are reasonably priced.
We went to the Steel Pulse concert on the 19th ,November. We were treated rudely and were curtly told that no seating was available in the stage area. our tickets indicated seats available. My sister is elderly and I have back problems. We had to sit in a tiny patio with a few raggedy chairs with no sound and no view. speakers were covered in plastic. I notified Steel Pulse and advised them not to play this trashy venue again!
When entering for a metal show we were greeted with no moshing rules, and while I understand not wanting people to get hurt, it created a fairly discouraging atmosphere for both the fans and subsequently the bands, who are then stuck playing to a crowd just standing there. That aside my big gripe was the sound, as I felt like I payed money to see and hear bands play, and all I was treated to was bass and kickdrum. Not sure how the mix other genres but I dont think Ill be going back for any metal shows, the sound really was that horrid.
Very intimate location for a concert. Saw Get The Led Out. Amazing show. However, get there early to get a good spot up front or in the balcony, as well as good parking.
Love seeing the bands I highly admire there, but the venue never answers the phone to answer questions about upcoming events. On top of that drinks are expensive and the staff there are very rude towards concert goers. Other than that its a nice venue.
I just saw Dark Star Orchestra there last night and am going again tonight. That is a Grateful Dead type show for those who might not know. The venue is intimate in the sense that you are close to the band, and close to your peers. Unless the bands rhythm section understands this and plays softer than usual sound quality will be bad, its just too small of a venue for any kind of serious, untempered noise. Now for the staff. They were oddly lenient and oddly douchebags, I couldnt pin any line of reasoning to it. For example, there were many people very openly smoking cigarettes and joints but I saw no security people harass anyone for this. This is despite the no smoking signs clearly posted and the laws against smoking pot. No one told me you cant throw glowsticks in the air, but a guy in front of me was confronted by security and commanded to leave the venue for doing just that. So there were some weird little disparities there.
Went to see Buckethead. I understand the club has to sell tickets, but they way oversold this show. Too many people. couldnt move to get to bar or bathroom. Changed the experience of he show from excellent to irritable.
Best live music venue in Fort Lauderdale, if you dont mind standing close to the bands. Room sounds superb and theres not a bad seat, or standing space, in the house.
Love this venue. Great place to see bands, both national and local, famous and unknown. The staff is friendly, security keeps trouble out, and the drinks are strong.
Nice place to get close to some great bands and future stars. I loved the place! I took a star because of the only thing I didnt like: smoking is permitted. Other than that, I recommend this venue.
Awesome venue, great bar service. Feel safe and enjoyed many good shows. One of the best venues down here with a lot of history. Would totally recommend :)
They do not support e tickers and will only accept printed versions. I thought it was a stretch but okay...While most of the staff were nice. There were a few rude ones. This place is standing only. I wish they would of said that on ticketmaster. Im a heavy guy, i was limping not evem before the main act. Being told i cant sit down because seats are reserved has me limping and probably limping fornthe next week.
A great place to see bigger names bands up close. Also a pretty cool place to find new local music. The bar isnt very big, but its size makes it feel more cozy and relaxing.
Saw Lords of Acid and Genitortures here.. Club is way better than I expected. Love the out door lounges and the stage. Very cool place. Cant wait to come back!
Not able to get to the bathrooms from the patio, people were packed like a can of sardines. We brought $200 for drinks, had a glass of Pinot Grigio and the second time we went to the outside bar, about 30 minutes after the place opened, the bartender said were out of white wine. That was enough, we left. Ok if you want cheap tickets but bear in mind you get what you pay for.
The upside is this place brings in great acts that are rare to see in south FL. The downside is this place consistently oversells their shows. People are packed in like sardines, and thats if youre one of the lucky people who can actually get a sight line of the stage. Last night I got to the venue right at show time and they had a security guard stopping people form entering the main floor because it was overcrowded. This meant that my girlfriend and I had to stand either at the side bar with no view of the stage, or stand outside and watch video of the show on a projector. When she had to use the bathroom we asked the security if she could cut through the room to access the bathrooms and they told her that she would have to exit the venue and ask the door man to let her into a side door to go to the bathroom. This is absolutely insane. If your venue is so overpacked that you cant even get to the bathroom, then it is unsafe and likely in violation of fire codes for capacity. Culture room needs to figure this out: either stop overselling your shows or expand the size of your location. People dont enjoy spending $35 to watch the show on a screen outside the building, and then have to be escorted out of the building just to use a bathroom.
Great small venue for live music. Parking is tough sometimes, and they will oversell the place to the point its way overcrowded. Weve been to shows where you couldnt get any closer than just being inside the front door.
Awesome spot to see shows. Needs to have a better box office system though because everyone hates ticket master!....but all and all a great small venue for live music.
The place is old, unsafe, and always over sold. Did you ever see the video of the Station nightclub fire where 100 people died? That could happen here in a heart beat. If the band you even want to see is playing within 10 hours of here, go there instead. Itll be cheaper, the band will actually get paid, and you wont have an 80% chance of dying in a fire or being crushed to death that night.
Does anyone know if there asking for vaccination cards to get into a concert. I keep calling them no answer and cannot leave a vm. Would love to see Steel Panther! Help someone 🤪😍
