Simply the best Mexican food around. Margaritas are also top notch. Chile verde was amazing. Smokey grilled pork. Melts in your mouth and served on handmade tortillas.

After 2 visits I can confirm that the flavors of this place are beautifully crafted and well worth the visit. This is the type of place you want to bring your parents to. I sat at the bar both times and thoroughly enjoyed both bartenders I sat with. One shared his worldly experience, one shared her passion for beauty in food/drinks, and both enhanced our experience! Bring a date; bring your parents; bring a friend! Theres something for everyone here

This place has a really good vibe walking in. We came just as they opened. The food was amazing. Had the loaded fries and street tacos. All really fresh. Was the guinea pig for the homemade orange soda and that was really good as well. Recommend the churro donut. It does have nuts in the scoop of ice cream so be careful people with nut allergies. Service was a bit slow at times but I think at that point it was a one person show. Overall definitely do not pass this place up.

First off just know that their website is a work in progress. Our server had to let us know after we were seated. He also let us know about 10 times through our meal that he was new and didnt really know anything about the menu. They do NOT have an all day menu. They only offer a lunch happy hour menu until 5:30pm and then its their dinner menu from 5:30pm on. The lunch happy hour offerings are minimal. We ordered tacos and cocktails as we planned to order from the dinner menu at 5:30pm. Worst tacos ever. Dry crumbly tortillas, dry meats, dehydrated nopales and no salsa on any of them. They also charge for chips and salsa. The salsa was super bland and had zero heat. Came to find out this salsa is served with everything on the menu.We were tempted to just leave after the tacos, but decided to stay and try some of the items from the actual dinner menu. The birria ramen was actually just a mediocre ramen with birria flavored chashu. The carnitas chile verde was actually just two chunks of carnitas with a drizzle of green sauce over black beans.Super disappointed with the entire experience especially after looking at the gallery photos on their website.Do not recommend.

The atmosphere was amazing. Their decor and music was top notch. Its great being able to have an upscale Mexican food experience. By far, their best thing are the drinks. We were a group of 4 and got 2 round of drinks. The flowers for bunny was the best and most recommended. The food was good. Definitely an upscale experience, so expect to have tasters and order appetizers to fill you up. All of the food was flavorfull and very cantina style. Expect tacos, appetizers, drinks, and mezze over it all. Dont be afraid to share. The only thing was they had a busy night. The only downside, a large party of like 15+ people came in, so at no fault of their own, on a busy Friday, things were a little slower in terms of service. But honestly, it was just a great opportunity to get more drinks in 🙈.Fun experience overall and I was pleasantly surprised.

We tried this place few days ago with group of friends. For Tapas, their sizes were bigger than expected. Lani was our server and he was amazing! We ordered spicy margarita which wasnt on the menu, but they made perfect glasses for us. Food was mostly really good. Squash pasta was fresh, soft, tasty, and Zucchini was super fresh. Cauliflower was really good. Chiviche was fresh and tasty. Small short rib was of very decent size. It was tender and soft. I didnt like the fact that the tortillas that came with the short rib were super oily. Fat from the meat would have done it and the condiments that came with it also had enough fat. Potato tacos were ok. They were deep fried which I didnt like, also potato filling was very less. We also didnt care for cream cheese empanadas, it was pretty bland. Chimichuri that came with empanadas was really good. Im dairy sensitive so I only took a bite of it, but my husband had it all and he also experienced some discomfort in his tummy. Spicy chicken wings was not that great either. You can taste the hint of spice, but it was bland. We had more food and they were all great besides the ones mentioned here for my personal taste.Overall experience was great.

We came to celebrate our 3 year anniversary, and Keith helped our anniversary be extra special by providing us with excellent service. He makes a delicious Mexican candy shot and had the best suggestions about what to order! 10/10 recommend the birria and carne asada. The margarita pitcher is also a great deal (and super yummy). Happy hour has more awesome deals, and this has definitely become a go-to spot for us!

Visited El Barrio Cantina on a Wednesday night and happy to see that they have a pretty full house of customers. We were pleasantly surprised they were offering dineLA menu, which turned out to be a great way to sample their menu. The meal came with a margarita, taquitos, choice of proteins, and we picked the steak and carnitas, and finally ended with desserts. The margaritas are a little different than your typical cocktail, since it has a little bit of carbonation in the drink. But the flavor is good.Best part of the meal is the taquitos. Its flavorful and crispy. Unfortunately the proteins are a little bit of a miss. The steak was a little bland and the pork was a bit too dry. The pork is better between the 2.The pudding like cheese dessert came out a bit frozen, which is a pet peeve of mine, but the churro return ice cream is amazing! Its a must have.

This place got a lot of good reviews so we decided to try this place. The food is mediocre and the staff needs to improve their customer service skills. We order 4 appetizer but only received 3. The octopus came after with an entrée. The octopus was burned but according to them it was charred. I guess for them char means burn all the way leaving your tongue and fingers black. The picture on their website looked nothing like octopus we received. We got one entrée after another. Towards the end we had finished two entrees and the other two people in our table had not received their food yet. We asked why everyone else received their entrees at different times and their response was different food takes different time to make Duh of course they do thats why you start with the order that takes longer first and then what follows. The restaurant should know this and and still make it work where everyone gets their food around the same time. This restaurant could be good but they need to pay attention to details. Once we received the third entrée the fish was raw. We dont mind waiting for a good meal but when it comes out raw thats just unacceptable. Unfortunately I didnt take a picture since I let our waiter know right away. Our fourth person never got their food and we decided to leave. They seemed very bothered when we requested to have to some of the items removed. The supervisor was very rude and gave us attitude and as we were leaving she told us good luckIf she cant handle a complaint she is in the wrong business and maybe she should stay away from helping customers.

So I just recently went to El Barrio Cantina for a wonderful and special Yelp event. I enjoyed the food and the ambiance so much that I went the next day with my husband. I knew he would enjoy this place, and I was 100% correct! He’s already planning for our next visit, lol.I enjoyed all of the food that I had during the Yelp event, so I decided to get pretty much everything that I had that night. I wanted to share my experience with my husband. We were able to make a same-day reservation for that night. The last time I came, parking was a bit of a headache. However, this time around, we were able to find parking right away in their tiny lot across the street. Whoo-hoo! My hubby was already happy. When we entered, we were greeted by the GM, Jennifer. She sat us right away in a nice cozy booth. Our waitress (so sorry, I forgot her name) was the only waitress working the floor because they were short-staffed. She gave us the heads up, and she still was quick, and we never had to wait around for her.We started off ordering drinks and an appetizer, the Uno Mas , the La Chica Fresa, and the Taquitos de Papa . My hubby loved it all so far, his eyes just lit up. Haha.. Next, we ordered: Camarón Marinero (shrimp ceviche), El Peruano (Peruvian style ceviche with red snapper), and the Mexican Fried Hot Chicken. The Mexican hot fried chicken was a bit spicier than I remembered, but nonetheless, it was still excellent. Again, hubby was blown away! After we stuffed our faces, I had to get dessert! If you read some of my other restaurant reviews, I always have to get dessert after dinner. I order the Panna Cotta Flan. My husband actually wanted one for himself, we usually share, but he wanted his own, which was odd because he’s not really a dessert person. I asked him why, and he said since everything else was terrific, be believed, so will the flan. Trust me when I tell you that he was obsessed with that flan! He literally indulged in every single bite. I, too, really like the flan; it’s not like the traditionalflan. This one was more refreshing and light. Lastly, we ordered two more drinks, Flowers for Benny and J +J Paloma. Both were good!We had a really lovely evening. My husband wants to come back, and he’s already told his friend that he wants to hang out here and said it’s going to be our new little spot. I look forward to exploring more of their menu. I stuck to what I had at the Yelp event, so I’m curious to see how the other dishes are. We might go back today! Haha…Thank you, El Barrio Cantina! I will see you very soon.

The atmosphere at night is really nice. I liked the lights and crowd. It is probably more like a nice bar than a dine in restaurant. The food is tapas style and go well with drinks. Get the horchata with a shot of rum - great combo!I was expecting more as far as the food. Everything was good but not mind blowing. All the food I had was a 7 out of 10 to me with just several aspects holding it back. The octopus was a bit salty. The hamachi collar was a bit dry. The chile relleno didn’t have the crispy + gooey contrast that most people would usually expect from a really good relleno. Keep in mind you’re paying about $15 - $20 per dish which may lead you to expect a certain level of quality especially considering the price point doesn’t include any sides. As long as you don’t let that fact lead you into setting your expectations too high, youll still be satisfied.Go here for the drinks and use the food as dishes to snack on with the drinks. Maybe get a small dinner beforehand or come here as round 2 when bar hopping. And again, dont forget the horchata with a shot of rum! Youre going to have a good time.

We had the opportunity recently to go back to the El Barrio Cantina. The first time that we went it was a soft opening/party and we wanted to see how they have come along since then. We had the scallops, pork, and tacos. The prices are fair and the food is good. The atmosphere is bright and welcoming. The waitress we had was very welcoming. There is a parking lot across the street dedicated for the restaurant which is key since there is a lack of street parking.

I have held off on quite a while leaving my favorite spot a review because I selfishly do not want it to get too popular where I can no longer grab a seat at the bar.I go here just about once a week as long as I do not travel which I do a lot for work. Every time I go somewhere and eat Mexican food and have a margarita, I immediately go back to El Barrio when I get home. They have the absolute best happy hours. The best margaritas I have ever had and I cant even begin to explain how many margaritas I have at various places around the US.They have a diverse tequila and mezcal selection. I love getting mezcal margaritas especially as Cadillacs. My go to.The Mexican candy shots are bomb. The brunch is bomb. Ive done the Firme drag brunch and its a great time. Definitely bring your friends and get a pitcher or two of margaritas.Ive gone for all kinds of specialty holidays and guest bartenders. Thats also what I love. If youre a regular, there will almost always be something new including different seasonal drinks and food to try. They have the best staff too. From the chef, to the manager, to the servers, and to the bartenders. I have experienced nothing but great service from every single individual that works there. In a place like southern California flooded with so many Mexican restaurants, this is the hidden gem. I assure you will not be disappointed.

I kept passing by this place and kept thinking I really need to try it! Not sure if me and my partner went on an off hour/day, but it was the most disappointing experience Ive had at an establishment.Host sat us down and said shed bring us menus in a second, no problem. The menus she did hand us look like they were written in sharpie and laminated. It just said the prices of cocktails, prices of draft beer (which stated they were $5, remember this for later) and a few plates, their chicken, quesadilla and a few choices of tacos. Okay, well what are the cocktails? What beers did you have? We looked at the table to the side of us and saw they were given a different, more extensive menu that wasnt handed to us. I saw there was that menu on a seat next to us that I reached over and grabbed myself. We decided on ordering their spicy alitas, and a carnitas taco and birria taco along with two beers. Not sure if they were understaffed at the time we went (also to mention there were only two other parties while we were there), but we somehow received our tacos before we even got our beers. I actually forgot we ordered beers because of how long it took. The tacos were dry and had no salsa. I dont know who eats tacos with no condiments on them. I think there was cilantro? The spicy alitas were cold and drenched in this super sour/lime forward sauce/marinade. Me and my partner didnt even eat them.We asked for the check and asked if the spicy alitas could be comped and they were able to thankfully. It sucked having to pull that card. No one wants to be that person unless it was really bad. Then we saw that our two beers came up to $22. $11 a beer?! Thats crazy! We had initially asked our server what beers they had on draft and they mentioned their Mexican IPA and we chose that. Reminding you the menu says their beers were $5 draft, so we were confused on why we were being charged $11 a beer?Again we asked for our bill to be fixed or explained if we were missing something as even the larger menu doesnt have the price of their beer only the sharpie menu. They fixed the check for the beers to be $5.50 each now.Overall, sad to say Im not sure if well be back.

Found the place as a hot and new spot and decided to drive out and check it out.Parking - Parking is always hectic in the area and had to circle around the neighborhoods to find a spot down the block. Guess the own the Parking spot across they street but havent got a permit to change the sign.Venue - They need to label the door to get in as it can be hard figuring out the main entrance. The inside is very bright and white, could use more decor or color as its a bit too plain. But it is a decent size with a bar top area.Drinks - Good selection of Mexican style liquor and we prepared drinks.Food - Menu is kinda plain and simple, with not a decent selection and the sauces that come with some dishes are the same on some. The appetizer chicharon dish is just to simple for what they charge.Prices - It is priced on the higher end, and thats cool and all but I dont think the Venue hasnt reached that level or needs a lil more to get there.Staff - Everyone seems like they just mind their own business and will come around only when requested or randomly but not as often.Overall I would consider coming back after they been established longer and hopefully change the menu.

Lovely place, exceptional staff, spotless bathrooms. Good food!! Super fresh, hot and crunchy nachos: delicious. Octopus: I got a tentacle that was a little too small for its price. Truly special carnitas tacos. But if youre very hungry its not the right place.
