The store is clean, well-stocked, and professionally managed. Gregg, Mark, and Trent are knowledgeable and extremely helpful and, in addition, will go out of their way to get help you! South Side offers the ability to test bats before buying, not on the premise but at practice or in games! The test process consists of providing a credit card and a brief registration (very brief) - you take the bat and go for a week or more (I cannot speak for them as to the exact time). My daughter tried three bats before deciding on a purchase; this is a great benefit as bats are an investment. The merchandise is slightly more costly than online purchases but you are paying for expert knowledge, quality gear, and CUSTOMER SERVICE. While I have written about softball and baseball, the store also provides other sporting equipment: soccer, football, shoes, and did I mention CUSTOMER SERVICE. Most people shop online to save a few dollars, they try out gear at stores and buy somewhere else- dont be that person. Sporting goods stores with good stock and the ability to meet customer demands are a dying breed; go to South Side, meet the staff, try the gear, and keep your money in the local economy. When you go, if you dont see something that you want or need- ask, they probably can get it and do so quickly!
