Our group had a great time grabbing lunch here. Im really glad they strive to stand out with their uniqueness and that there seems to be a lot going on. Pool tables, pong table, karaoke and live music. Whats not to love? Cant wait to come back and have some fun here 🍻

Hard to believe this place is located where it is. But then you realize theres a dairy processor, so it is perfect. Very original place to have a drink and quick bite. You can tell it has its regulars, whom are very friendly. Nice selection of beer and finger food. As in any place, make sure to order the specific liquor brand you want, otherwise they will reach for the bottom of the bottom shelf, with a guaranteed headache.

Samantha is an amazing bartender, barback and cook. Full bar, drinks never stopped flowing while she cooked me a huge order of to go burgers and perfect onion rings all alone! Thanks Samantha, youre amazing!

Low standard!!! Cheap bar!! Poor service!! The lady bartender was extremely rude. She shouted on us for being standing at the wrong place to order and set a whole new standard of unprofessionalism. She threw our card to close the tap and said “ you’re not the only one to serve in the bar”

I felt very uncomfortable and unwelcome. Rebecca the bar tender which I had assumed was just a patron. Failed to acknowledge our presence. We waited over 10 min at a very empty bar. Finally, I went up to the part of the bar that actually has the entrance to the kitchen to see if there was a bartender to be seen. She proceeds to get up from her bar stool and get a plastic bag for someone. Directly in front of me about 1 foot from my body. I say, Oh! You are the bartender? And I asked is she serving this part of the bar? We are sitting right over here. She said, what do you want? I asked if she serves Cabernet. And my friend is over there and she would like to order what she would like. She says she will come. She asks for our IDs. I get mine out my friend gets hers and Rebecca walks away to hang out at the bar. We sit for another 10+ minutes and she doesnt acknowledge us at all. My friend goes up to her and a customer says, You have a customer. Rebecca replies, well if she wants something, then she can ask me.And another 10 minutes we are STILL sitting here.... and now there is another bartender also. And they both are taking drink orders from everyone else except for us.If I could give this place zero stars I would. Not sure why we were discriminated against. I would be very wary to anyone coming to this place.

***This is only a review for the drag show that was held on Wednesday night march 27***It was Soo much fun!!!I did not go to the restroom so I cant say how the bathrooms are but the cazador margaritas where great and theJello shot too.The vibe was just FUN the place was fun too!!The bartender was ok (the place was packed so not too friendly and it did take a while for me to get serviced but it is understandable)They had pool tables in a separate place from the show and the bar was also in a separate place from the show they had tables and booth chairs.I would definitely recommend going on a drag show night I would go again!!

This is a fun little dive bar in my neighborhood. I really like it but I do think that the bartenders need to be a little bit more attentive. I had to wait about 10 minutes to get my card back, and I never got a hey, i will be right with you I never even got eye contact. And this was not the first time, but it wont stop me from going back. They had karaoke Saturday night.... that was fun. If youre busy, just say hey Ill be right with you. Its really no effort, right?

Positives: Drinks were good, when karaoke was happening the vibe was great, the mature bartender dressed as a cow was really nice, the dive bar atmosphere (decor) was great. Negatives: Very expensive drinks. $10 for a vodka (well) drink and $7 for a beer and they closed early for no reason given (at 130am). Closing time is advertised as being 2am. This ruined the entire nights vibe for me. Im visiting a local friend and we were planning on coming back originally later in the week; may go somewhere else instead only because of this early closing situation. Not cool that they can pick and choose when to close without explanation to customers.

Have been going here for almost 13 years. Great place to go have drinks with my best friend. The service is great and they offer some good food. I always try to visit whenever I go to California.

Went there last weekend to meet some friends that are locals there. Good atmosphere, good people, but the beer was really expensive $7.50 for Coors Light! There are local breweries that dont even charge that much!

Friendly , unique atmosphere, fair prices, standard bar food and and eclectic decor. Live band on Fridays. Pool tables ,table tennis and a boxers scales!

I thought this was a place to buy hay for horses but nah, its a place to say hey to good people.

The bartenders will literally look right at you and ignore you. If you’re not a regular you’re a low priority. I sat there about 15 minutes with my friend, right in front of 2 female bartenders. A guy walked up behind me and one of them took his order, seriously ignoring me for another 5 minutes or so. It’s not the first time I’ve waited right in front of them and gotten zero service. Also I wouldn’t recommend any mixed drinks here, they’re all high priced for a terrible aftertaste. You’re safer sticking with beer. I haven’t tried any food because if it takes that long to get a drink in a bar it’s probably even more ridiculous to wait on food.

I’m very disappointed. I come to this establishment at least once a week. The lady with the 17 year old son, we sang to her and tipped her $20 just for her to cut us off. We had ONE drink and she cut us off. Maybe because we were dancing and laughing but we weren’t mumbling and stuttering or stumbling. She cut our party off and no one threw up or was causing a problem she needs to be fired or punished. After the problem started other locals said she always causes problems as well.

I wanna love this place but they make it hard. The location is great and I love the dive bar feel. Even though I’m a big guy, I’m ignored by the bar tender most of the time. I am not the only one, I see the regulars walking on egg-shells too. The owner has to tell her that patrons should sit there for 15 minutes before a beer and when the glass is blatantly empty, see if they want another one! And they rarely have the kitchen going. Either hire a cook or hire one of the bartenders from the Rooster who can do both. My 2 cents after leaving dissatisfied most of the time.

Bartender girl with the glasses and somewhat nerdy look was probably the worst bartender Ive ever experienced. It took her about 20 minutes to even acknowledge our presence at the bar (during slow time on a Saturday) and when she finally approached us and asked what we wanted, she got irritated and walked away because I didnt give her an immediate answer. It was my first time there and I didnt know what beers they had on tap. She ended up joining a conversation with a couple (probably regulars) across the bar and never came back. Another bartender woman showed up a few minutes later and ended up serving us. Place was super dead and its honestly kind of a dump. I wont be coming back.

Unique Bar!As someone who was afraid to come out here because I didnt sure if I belong there. The locals took up to me very quickly and was given tons of praise and love!They do some very diverse events for a dive bar besides there normal karaoke; theyll have bands and I even walked in a drag show once or twice there!There is such a diverse crowd there and Im happy about that! Cant wait to go again

Wednesday night country line dancing starting at 6:30. Great food, no cover charge and a north county place to DANCE. Owner Ray is super guy, and good cook, and bartenders Laura and Nicole are the BEST!

It felt Safe and Fun and a lil Kooky- it was Perfect imo 👌 the old white guys that hang around Must stay for they are the Fathers we Needed ✋ karaoke, nice spacious yet cozy area, *cow themed*, the occassional drag show 👀 its perfect! 🥰I only hope it wasnt Already the local lesbian bar(n- nailed it twice!) Im new in town and dont actually know 😅 but if it was, the Fierce was strong with this one 💪 as I was pulled towards it, mainly due to the *cow theme*Thank you for the wonderful night you guys! I hope I get to go one more time before I move away to wa at the end of the month because housing here sucks 🙃And to the lil black haired woman who was grinding on my date on the dancefloor as I watched 👀👀 sup? 😏🤙😘

If you like east county style karaoke, this is it! The place is fun to look around and explore while waiting for karaoke. The crowd is definitely younger (at least on the weekend) so its a bit rowdy but, then Im not one for quiet karaoke either so to each their own. The rotation seemed decent. We walked in on a busy weekend night at around midnight and still got to sing within about 30- 40 minutes. Thats good. Being an avid karaoke person, the sound left a lot to be desired but it was fun, I cant lie and the host was cool. Its a cool eclectic spot.

Classic dive bar and north county gem! Reminds me of Midwest dive bars with great community vibes and memories every time! DJ night/karaoke a must. I love playing “I-Spy” with their fun decor:)

This is fun fun place to go to if you are into karaoke and an old fashion style venue. There is no ventilation with the exception of the main door. There are only two pool tables, and one of them is right in front the bathroom with the doors swinging - open and close, on and on all night long while you play pool. One man came out of the bathroom screaming, I just saw his d...k! Be prepared for this crowd.

Went in mid week around 4pm. It was quiet. Bartender was nice. Played some pool. Got a few laughs from the funny stuff posted on the walls all around the place. Owner stopped by to say hello to us. My kind of place.

Owner doesnt have any cameras at all and dudes with weapons chill out back. If you dont want to get jumped dont get here

Always love the Cow Shed! Great dive bar! Ive been there a ton for drinks, karaoke, and birthdays ! Let them know if its your birthday or someone in your partys birthday and you get Dr. Rays special Birthday shot! Never tried their food.. they have 2 indoor pool tables, and an outdoor seating area where you can smoke and play ping pong. Highly recommend if you like the dive bar scene!

Is a cool place to have a drink with your friends but some girl was waisted puking in the restroom :(They should take care of how much they serve per customer I dont know hehe just an idea of course is a bar and grown ups should know how much and up until when stop... So expect to see some drunks there... 🤣Lol

The cowshed is the second home to my best friends so I gotta go there if I wanna see em socially ^_^ That said this place is fun with its theme and karaoke stage. It has a very welcoming vibe to someone who doesnt drink. The food is yummy and that helps too. I recommend a patty melt with onion rings and mozzarella sticks.

Great place. A lota people think its a country bar, but couldnt be further away. Is it a dive bar, yes it is. But its a great local dive bar.friendly atmosphere, a place you can walk in alone and walk out with a new friend. They have music pool tables and other games to keep you busy. Drinks and food. and they even have cows. Check it out , what have you got to lose.

I liked it for what it is, a quirky dive bar. The karaoke has quite a following thats entertaining to watch. The DJ kept things fun with singing himself and kept the drunks moving along. I got charged two different prices for same drinks at bar so keep an eye on that. 😂

Dont go to the Cow Shed!I have been a regular at the Cow Shed for about ten years. I have always thought it was a great place. But that changed when a local named Perry accused me of being armed; this after he told me that he would kill me if I talked to his girlfriend. It should be noted that I knew her before he met her. I was always respectful, but this guy Perry is toxic and dangerous. He told people that I was armed, and when I walked into the bar, I was assaulted and thrown to the floor. I lost my glasses when that happened. I went back tonight to see if they had my glasses. and I was treated like a criminal. Please dont go to the Cow Shed. You literally put your safety at stake.

Larger than most dive bars. Friendly staff, large bar, large dance floor, pool tables and even ping pong.Rating would have been 5star of not for the poor choice of entertainment. On Thursday, Friday, and Saturday they have karaoke. DJ was klunky and made it hard to have any consistency in music types so even though huge dance floor, couldnt really find rhythm to dance.Save karaoke of for Tue or Wed. Have a real DJ for weekend

Wasn’t allowed to get alcohol by the bartender for having a passport she wanted a California ID I’m a tourist so I’m not able to get a California ID

I would recommend avoiding this bar if you are not a local. It took at least 20 minutes to be served at the bar as I was unfamiliar to the local crew. I was wrongfully charged $60 for three drinks. After questioning the bill and asking for an itemized receipt twice (which they refused to provide) the bill dropped to $30. The bartenders were disrespectful and threw my bill/clipboard down on the bar and walked away. I will not be returning.

If you need a giggle in life, have a beer or 2 and yuck it up. Dont plan on talking. The noise level is too high to engage in deep conversation. But go take the I q test tuesday election day and help us oust the dumbrats destroying California and the US.

Local dive bar so come inside under that context. The inside is larger than passing by would suggest. Patrons of all ages were having fun with Karaoke and dancing on a not too busy Saturday night. Bartenders are not attentive or friendly. Large parking area in the back. Pool tables and darts available.

Okay so I took a few year break from here and came back, and there was a new DJ who was okay and still the prices here are 5 to 10 times more than cheers.So thats why I want give 5 stars. Lucky I gave 4 only cause if the bartender Shara.This is a dive bar that used be busy now its kinda busy now.Bring your drink prices down.

This review is meant for the management of the Cowshed bar. This was my first time in and I have to say, Ive never had such a terrible experience with bar tender service in my entire life. Me and my party were ignored just about the entire hour and a half we were sitting at the bar. The bartenders were slovenly, rude and unprofessional.If it were possible to give a zero stars review I wouldve.0/10 would never recommend .

Place needs to be shut down. The staff are rude, do shady things like take your belongs, & give them back with items missing. Bartenders are hostile and assault people. There are no cameras as well. A girl got assaulted by one of the bartenders

The set up is ok but never have I been in a bar where the bartenders could care less about speedy service or accomodating the customers. I went on Friday night. They did get busy but there was no sense of urgency to serve the customers, always at least 5 empty glasses waiting, saw people wait 15 minutes for a drink....a good bartender could make bank here.....also the bathrooms are horrifying, no paper towels, clogged toilets, no seat covers...when we told the bartender she said not her problem. ..they do have a local crowd, but theyre the only bar around there so lucky for thrm

A place to go!!! Food was good...fries were the best Ive ever had!! Staff was very friendly. They do NOT have sweet tea! 😆 I sacrificed with a root beer.

This place is a trashy dive bar and not even the good kind!! Even though there were 3 bartenders we could hardly find one of them willing to give us service. The guy running the karaoke was a joke he would pick the same 4 people to go up and sing over and over again. It was my friends 40th birthday party and when we signed up to sing as a group we were number 13. One hour later we were number 20 and when I asked the guy running the karaoke he said it was his show, he was retiring and he would pick who he wanted. Total bs. We should have spent our money elsewhere and in the future we will.

Happy hour at 4PM, I was 1 minute early and paid $4.50 for my beer, 2nd beer was 3.75. Yesterday happy hour beer was $3.Beside prices funny the locals here are awesome and cordial. Its a cool bar. ; )

A local hole in the wall bar that is now a signature staple to San Marcos. Everyone goes here from college students to the regulars to people passing by. They got dollar bills on the wall. Lotta history here. They got bands on the weekends ranging from rock metal country occasional DJ nights hip-hop

Its a nice little dive bar. The bar tender was a little flacky at first. He was the only one there but a few hours later when he got help behind the bar it was easier to order a drink

The owner, the bartenders and the people are special in this bar, I highly recommend stopping by after 10, thats when usually theres a lot of people, karaoke too! Had a great time!

Yummy hamburgers and well anything on menu is tasty! My favorites also include the wings, zucchini sticks and tot nachos!! Ray and Becca are awesome. I enjoy supporting local small businesses.

There is a local named Perry that has a serious problem. Ive known his girl since before he met her. He told me not to talk to her, that he would kill me. I was attacked in the bar and the bartender did not stand up for me. This is a serious failure of bar etiquette . Dont go to the Cow Shed if you want to be safe.

We followed a comedy show with karaoke and brought a crowd of people to what seemed like the after party. So many people enjoyed the karaoke singing comics as well.

I came here at the urging of friends and it did not disappoint. It’s an eclectic neighborhood bar filled with prime people watching opportunities and immensely entertaining decorations everywhere you look. It’s worth coming with friends just for the experience of it all.

I go here after work, everyone is down to earth and friendly. Drinks are affordable and in good variety. Atmosphere is perfect for laid back drinks with friends

Trash bar with awful drinks and HORRENDOUS employees/owner. Unsanitary and horrible customer service. I saw roaches in the bathroom and the bartenders obviously hate their jobs and their lives. SPEND YOUR MONEY SOMEWHERE ELSE!!!

This is one of the weirder dives I have been to but major points for originality. The smoke from the back patio wafts into the entire bar, which I find really gross and troublesome.

Like the bar first time there we were not happy with the service.

If you want watered down drinks & short poured shots, this is your kind of place. And keep a tight grip on your credit card or you may find you spent more than you thought you spent.

Rude staff who embarrassed and humiliated my friend on her 21st birthday. I wont be going back.
